star_smile.gif HD you apear a sincere person , very humble. The pressures alone from this K1 process is frustrating and for us to endure added pressures from elsewhere such as inquisitive co-workers, the reality of leaving love ones, etc... can really be overwhelming. We've had our moment too ......I/he apologized......without a doubt to me you are not paranoid...... annoyed or upset, perhaps.....so am I at times...but you'll soon be back to the happy, cheerful character you always are here...guaranteed!

Fred...you have the patience of the Bible character "JOB".......I admire that.........you're just my VJ hero...and I hope your situation is resolved immediately.

All the best to everyone else congrats and hang in there please. I just couldn't help myself responding to HD and Fred.

Matheu...Sorry to hear about your situation perhaps you might consider doing the following:

1. Asking your USC SO (fiance/fiancee) to contact the Lawyer and insist on more info concering the status of your petition.
2. Contact USCIS yourselves (both of you).
3. Posting this same post in other forums like the 6 months and waiting club etc....perhaps you can get more response.

I don't know but it's worth a try...because I've read where petitions were delayed for many reasons from prolonged background checks to being lost...the sooner you can find out what's happening to your petition the better. So please post your concern in other forums as well. All the best and hopefully you hear somethin postive soon. star_smile.gif

Use this guide for your I-134 2008 Poverty Guidelines

Co-sponsors are only allowed in K3, IR-1/CR-1 Visa.

Once your petition will be approved it will be forwarded to the NVC and sometimes it only takes a week or two for NVC to process and send to your fiance's consulate. Some consulates gives interview dates while others send a letter to the beneficiary that they are eligible for visa interview then they can make an appointment.

Hope everything goes smooth...and have fun on your trip!

Honestly, I wonder how many less of these petitions would be clogging up the system if there was no choice to come to America, but the American had to move to where the person lived.

Wild guess - a whole lot, especially from many of the third-world countries (Phillipines/South American/Asia).

Just my opinion, but I suspect many people feel this in their hearts, but will not admit it on the board.

...and neither should you out of respect for all the third fiances or fiancees including me....it doesn't matter their nationality they are in love with an American and so are you....as it stands now the entire world is feeling third world...because we're in a recession...love yourself and others too....this is just my opinion also.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTaking the plunge into the K1

Im wondering if you've thought of emigrating to the UK instead of him emigrating?
As he has a good, well paying job in London, and given the fact that you aren't working currently, and he WON'T be able to work for a few months after he comes over, if that might not be a better bet?
It's a lot faster to emigrate to the UK as well.
Just throwing that out there :)
Whatever course you take I wish you both the best of luck

That is what we were looking into for a while but I have so many things tying me here. Mostly family (I want to be here for my neice and nephew; my parents are raising them and sometimes need my help). Also, I have six birds and a dog and moving them over would be complicated. We looked into it, it's definitely possible, but because of the hassle it would probably end up taking even longer than him coming here on a K1 visa. And parting with them isn't something I'm prepared to do. If it became necessary then I would find them great homes but I want to try to avoid this.

I think we'd both rather live in the United States anyway. I love England, especially London, but the whole lifestyle and such seems far more relaxed here. Jobs pay better (when you finally get them) and there is more space. Cost of living is also MUCH lower. Etc. etc. etc. :D

Thank you all for the welcomes and help!

Thanks for the reply. :) Ok, I've just gotten a little confused from reading things over again.

Is the G-325A pertaining to myself or my fiance? At first glance, I thought it was pertaining to me but looking again it sounds like it is asking the information about the alien coming into the U.S.?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTaking the plunge into the K1
Hello all, I'm new here. :) My name is Terri and I'm 24, female, living in Kentucky. My "fiance," (still waiting on the "surprise" proposal to make it official) Richard, resides in London and we've finally decided to try for the K1 visa so that he can come to live here. We've been together (long distance) for about five years now and first met in person over four years ago.

To try and cut this short, I do have some concerns that maybe someone can advise me about? My biggest worry right now is that I am unemployed and have been for the past year. Richard has a good job in London but I'm sure that won't help us very much when it comes to getting him here. I do plan on getting a job as soon as possible (I'm job hunting full-time at least) but it would be nice to get this into motion and not have to wait on my getting employment. Is this a bad idea? I'd love to get the I-129 package completed and sent when Richard is here in a couple of weeks so that we can work on it together but I don't want to jump into this if my being unemployed is going to hinder the process.

I've heard of an affidavit of support but can't remember what visa that is filed with and when. I do know of someone who would probably be ok with sponsoring Richard provided that when I am employed, I'm not making enough to meet the requirements. However, I haven't seen that mentioned on the two forms that are part of the first package (please excuse my ignorant terms, I'm still very very new to all of this).

So, my biggest question right now is do you think it will be ok to go ahead and send off the I-129 package now even though I have no current job to list on the G-325A or should I wait until I have a job and have been employed for a while?

Also, I have to admit my job history has been quite chaotic and it's going to be a bit difficult listing it for the past five years. Is this something that is looked into very thoroughly or is there any room for error? For example, I don't know that I'll be able to remember/find the exact months that I worked in a few places.

Already, it is so overwhelming but I really really hope to be able to get the ball rolling in a couple of weeks. We've waited so long and half the time has been spent trying to decide what route to take, who is going to move, etc. Any help you all can provide would be, well, worshipped. Thanks in advance for any responses!

P.S. This site is amazing and has already proved to be incredibly helpful!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA couple of questions
Hi all. :) I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with. Soon my boyfriend and I hope to get our I-129 package thingy sent off as he'll be here for two weeks and we can work on it together. My first question is:

When it asks where the alien fiance is going to be living in the U.S. will it hurt if the address we use ends up NOT being where he lives when he arrives? The situation as it stands is that I'm living with my parents but hope that by the time Richard is here, I'll have my own apartment. If for some reason that falls through, we would be living with my grandmother until we got a place of our own. I would like to use my grandmother's address for this part of the application because my mother is very nervous about this stuff and probably wouldn't like the idea of me using this address. Not to mention, it wouldn't be accurate as we definitley won't be living here when he arrives.

I hope that wasn't too confusing. :/ Do you think it will be ok to use my grandmother's address even though I don't live there now? Will it hurt anything if we end up living elsewhere? And lastly, will using her address mean that things will be mailed there or is it just something to show that we have a plan on where he'll live? I wouldn't want my grandmother to have to go through any trouble because of this. (Partly because it's nice of her to offer a place to stay and partly because she has a tendency to get very confused. )

My next question is probably very stupid but here goes: On the forms, if there is a question that doesn't apply (for example, where it asks for the foreign fiance's U.S. social security number) is it best to leave that field blank or to type N/A? Does it even matter either way?

Thanks for your patience. I know you guys probably hear the same old questions over and over so it must get tedious and even annoying. I'm trying to figure as much of this out on my own as possible (well, with the use of all the resources provided here) but sometimes the information doesn't stick. It's so overwhelming and I'm scared of doing even the tiniest things wrong.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPublic Charge Question
Hi guys! It's been a long time since I posted as my fiance recently visited me and officially proposed. We didn't get a chance to put our package together as we only had 2 weeks together and he had some worries. He said that the card he filled out when coming into the country said that he was not to apply for a visa of any sort during his stay? I can't remember what the card is called but it's the one you fill out on the plane when entering a different country. (My fiance is from the UK, by the way.)

At any rate, I'm starting to get some things together now but I have a question. I know that eventually we have to prove that Richard won't become a public charge. I have been unemployed for the past year or so but thankfully have a job interview tomorrow (wish me luck please!). The pay from the job won't be nearly enough to put me at 125% of the poverty line BUT I do have a co-sponsor lined up so we're going through with this anyway.

My question is: If I get an income-based apartment (such as housing projects) will that count against us in any way as far as public charge goes? The most affordable housing happens to be the city's housing authority and that is really all I'll be able to afford until Richard is settled here and working as well (or until I find a higher paying job, of course). I'm not sure how far they look into these things and I don't have the apartment yet but I'd like to sign up for one as soon as I get a job. I've lived in the apartments before and they're actually newly-remodeled, well maintained and like I said, very affordable. That's beside the point though, I'm starting to ramble!

At any rate, if you could just point me in the right direction to find the answer to my question, that would be great as well.

Oh, one more question: The co-sponsor is a close friend of the family and a cousin to my father. However, I know that it's kind of uncomfortable sharing all your personal financial information with another person. If they co-sponsor Richard, will there be any way that I can assure them that I won't be seeing their personal information or is this something that can't be avoided?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother cosponsor question
I'm not sure what kind of trouble it would be. I guess I'm just wondering what the possibilities are. If it's all in my control (as in they won't have to do anything unless my fiance and I actually need it) then I'm not worried at all. I can support both him and myself until he's settled in and found a job without a doubt. I can confidently assure her that I wouldn't even need to borrow money from her, I'm just worried that there might be things I haven't thought of. Maybe something that isn't straight forward.

As far as credit goes, how would I be able to harm her credit? That's one thing I never thought of but I didn't think this would affect that in any way?
eterriNot TellingUnited Kingdom2006-03-10 09:57:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother cosponsor question
 I ask a lot of questions, but I promise you guys, I'm looking for the answers before posting. I appreciate all the help I've received thus far and love this site.

Here's my question: What are the risks involved for the cosponsor? In the worst-case scenario, what would be the worst thing that could happen?

I have a trustworthy cosponsor lined up but I want to avoid getting her into any sort of trouble. She knows I wouldn't end up having to rely on her for support but I just want to make sure that nothing bad will come of her sponsoring us as she's been very nice in the past. I wouldn't want to do something that would mess up that relationship with her so I'd like to be as informed as possible when it comes time to hash out the details. I guess I just want to be able to confidently tell her that her sponsoring us isn't going to lead to her getting into any kind of trouble (financially or legally).

We haven't even sent off the first package but my stomach is in knots!
