IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTo E-mail or Mail?
QUOTE (waiting06 @ Oct 11 2007, 09:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Exactly 4 weeks ago I sent some important documents to the NVC that they had requested, trough priority mail. My tracking receipt shows it was delivered to them on Sept. 10 .
Today I called them and they said they had no record of recieveing these documents! mad.gif
I don't know if they lost it or what. Isn't is suppose to be in their computers by now? Its been 4 weeks!

Ayways.. so the operator suggested that I should said them again to be on the safe side wacko.gif
She said I can do it through e-mail. I have never sent them anything through email before.

Can someone please advise wheather I should said it through e-mail or Priority Mail? I just want them to enter it into their system ASAP! since its already getting delayed for no apparent reason!
WHAT SHOULD I DO?! I NEED TO DO SOMETHING FAST!
I AM FEELING SO FUSTRATED!

PS: I have a lot of attachements (documents) that I would need to attach, tht wont be a problem will it?

sorry for ur problem.
I had to send some missing document to the NVC so I called them and the operator told me to just scan and email them. so I did and waited for like a week and I decided to mail them and not wait. and till today I've never got a respond for that email. thx god I didn't wait.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs it necessary ?
QUOTE (MargotDarko @ Oct 12 2007, 08:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If the co-sponsor is an actual co-sponsor filling out an I-864 and not just a household member filling out an I-864A, then yes get an employment letter (unless of course they are self-employed).

thx for the reply but I contacted the consulate and the said employment letter isn't required.

Hi everybody.
as I posted before my interview was on Oct 2nd and I was given section 221(g) requested to get a co-sponsor and submit affidivat of support, tax return documents and W-2 for a co-sponsor.well I got a co-sponsor and I'm gonna go tomorrow to the consulate in casablanca tomorrow to submit the documents. my question is how long it may take them to review the doc and issue the visa ?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support?
Sometimes even if your husband makes above the poverty guidelines and he didn't make above that in the past year, the consulate will ask for a co-sponsor and that what happened in my case.even we contacted the NVC during the process and they said its not a problem if my wife didn't make enough money last year as long as she does now, we just need to submit employments letter stating how much she makes now and that the job is full time.so that's what we did and the NVC approved the affidivat of support but on the day of the interview the consular officer requested a co-sponsor.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSome Help with our new Co-Sponsor Situation
QUOTE (Misty1979 @ Oct 17 2007, 01:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
With the CR1 interviews finally making some progress at the Montreal Consulate, and the fact alone that they have started interviewing people who had case completion in June, my husband and I realized its about time we look at our co-sponsorship situation and figure out a new plan.
My father-in-law was our co-sponsor, but due to his sudden passing, we had to find a new one. My mother-in-law has volunteered to be our new co-sponsor, however we are not sure how to use her assets to make up the difference in the income requirements.
She is working, but most likely not making enough to meet the requirements with her income alone, so we are pretty sure the assets will have to come into play.
I don't know her financial situation very well, so I won't be able to provide thorough details, but from what we know here is what she has for assets to use towards the I-864:
-She owns 1 house and 2 trailers. The house is completely paid off, no payments, no loans, however we think there is a loan involved with the 2 trailers. We figure the house is worth about $80k and the two trailers together about $120.
-2 vehicles, both payed off.
-Some sort of life insurance payout will be coming into play soon. She is starting the paperwork tomorrow to collect the life insurance plan my father in law had in place. I have no idea how much it is, but am pretty sure it isn't too substantial.

We figure we will be getting an interview in the early part of December, judging by other timelines, so we know we need to start putting all this together now. I have no idea how life insurance works, so I don't know if she will have the payout from that in time to use it towards meeting the requirements.
Also I'm wondering if we are going to have the three properties appraised? I know that can be pretty costly, so I don't really want to ask her to do that unless there is no other choice.

Anyways, any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. I figure the one house alone should be enough to meet the difference with the income requirements, but if it has to be appraised, that will be an awkward situation right now.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have star_smile.gif

hey.
this may be helpful for you.its from the I-864 form instructions.you should download the form and read it.it has a part about assests.
''In order to qualify based on the value of your assets, the total value of your assets must equal at least five times the difference between your total household income and the current poverty guidelines for your household size. However,if you are a U.S. citizen and you are sponsoring your spouse or minor child, the total value of your assets must only be equal to at least three times the difference. If the intending immigrant is an alien orphan who will be adopted in theUnited States after the alien orphan acquires permanentresidence, and who will, as a result, acquire citizenship undersection 320 of the Act, the total value of your assets need onlyequal the difference.Example of How to Use Assets: If you are petitioning for aparent and the poverty line for your household size is $22,062and your current income is $18,062, the difference betweenyour current income and the poverty line is $4,000. In orderfor assets to help you qualify, the combination of your assets, plus the assets of any household member who is signing FormI-864A, plus any available assets of the sponsored immigant, would have to equal five times this difference (5 x $4,000). Inthis case, you would meet the income requirements if the netvalue of the assets equaled at least $20,000.''

after my interview the consular officer requested a co-sponsor.
my question is for ppl that have been in similar situation or were givin section 221 (g) and requested to submit other documents, how long did you wait after submitting the doc for the consulate to review and issue the visa ?

hi tarik i'm sorry to hear that, that you still need more document,i hope that you it done soon, but it's still not clear to me how they aprouved the affidavie of suport here and they complated the case and consulate found something missing there??i hope you can clear it thanks

I don't get it either.cuz we called the NVC when they were processing the affidivat of support and they said even my wife didn't work enough last year so her income wasn't enough that its alright but she has to send proofs that she's working full time now and that she makes enough.so thats what we did and my wife submitted letters from employers stating she makes over 31 000 dollars a year and that she has a full time jobs.after that the NVC approved the affidivat of support but in the interview the consular officer said we need a co-sponsor.I think they didn't even look at the employment letters but it doesn't matter anyway I submitted the doc for a co-sponsor last week so I hope they will reveiw them soon and issue the visa.

Hi everyone,

1.
I got married in 07/08/2007. That is the date in the wedding invitations.
In the marriage certificate, it says " the marriage certificate becomes valid from the date when we both signed the certificate".
and we actually signed the marriage certificate in 07/09/2007.

So which one is our date of marriage ?

2.
for the evidence of our relationship, we got some letters. But they are not in English. Should I get them translated or keep them original?

Thanks,

07/09/2007 is ur marrige date and you need to traslate the letters.

if you got the visa before your 2 years marriage anniversery it will be CR1 (conditional residence) then if you moved to the US before the 2 years annivesery they will stamp ur passport with 2 years conditional residence but if after you got the visa you waited till ur 2 years anniversery to move to the US they will stamp ur passport derictly with IR1 wich is permenent residence and you won't have to apply for it again.

Nope. They didn't have a co-sponsor until after the interview, so it's new documents they are reviewing.

Thanks!

To Tarik - If you're sure that they've received the documents, I wouldn't worry too much yet. If you haven't heard anything by mid/end of next week, I would try to contact them to inquire about it. However, if you're not sure they even received the documents, I would contact them today.

I'm sure they recieved the documents smile.gif because I took them to the consulate myself.

1.you should download the form DS-230 and fill it and sign it and collect all the requarment papers and then send it to ur husband.but before u do that u should go here http://travel.state..../info_3176.html and select ur 3 first letters from ur case and then it will take u to another page where they will tell if u have to send just part 1 from DS-230 or both part 1 and 2.
3.you don't have to copy any bar codes in DS-230.
4.you don't right anything.you just fill the form with info and then sign just part 1 even if u have to send both parts.
5.you can fill them using handwritting or printed but I think its clearer to print them.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCasablanca Consulate
UNITED STATES CONSULATE GENERAL REOPENS

The United States Embassy is pleased to announce that the Consulate General in Casablanca will resume normal operation on Monday June 4, 2007, after a temporary closure for security upgrades.

We remind the public that American Citizens Services hours at the Consular Section are 8:30A.M. to 9:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Monday through Thursday. Visa services are by appointment Monday through Thursday. The opening hours for Dar America are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Dar America’s Information Resource Center is open to the public from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Consular staff will contact Immigrant and Diversity ("lottery") Visa applicants who had appointments for the period that the Consulate was closed (April 16-June 1) to reschedule their appointments. Applicants who have not been contacted by June 11 should e-mail the Consular Section at ivcasablanca@state.gov to schedule a new appointment.

Previously scheduled appointments for tourist and business visa interviews have been cancelled and appointment letters printed prior to June 3, 2007 are no longer valid. All tourist and business visa applicants must schedule interviews via our online appointment system at the following address: http://casablanca.us...nformation.html. Banque Marocaine de la Commerce et de l’Industrie (BMCI) receipts for payment of the $100 non-refundable, non-transferable visa processing fee are valid for one year from the date of payment.
Student, exchange visitor, and temporary work visa applicants do not need to make appointments. They may apply Monday through Thursday between 8:00AM and 10:00 AM, provided they have the required documentation. Individuals with urgent business travel needs and those seeking emergency medical travel to the U.S. should consult the Consulate website at http://casablanca.us...t_business.html and follow the procedures for requesting an expedited appointment.

For security reasons and to minimize waiting time, visa applicants should not bring cell phones, backpack, or large handbags and must not arrive more than 15 minutes prior to their appointment times. Applicants must present their appointment letters in order to enter the Consulate and should bring only the documents necessary for their interview.

Hi.

I entered the united states when I was 21 yrs old through a marriage visa. I got the restrictions off my Green card 3 years after that. Now I'm 28 yrs old and wanting to apply for citizenship, While reading the requirements I came across the selective services registration requirement witch was the first time I've heard I was required to register. I went to their website to register and It wouldn't let me because I'm too old now.

Does this mean I will not be approved for citizenship ? What can I do to correct this ? Any help is much appreciated

Yep you are right the 80 dollars is only for children who's needing to remove condition too. That part is confusing but I think you shouldn't list your US citizen child there at all but you should submit a copy of his birth certificate as evidence of your valid marriage.

If you answered "Yes" to any of the above, provide a detailed explanation on a separate sheet(s) of paper and refer to "What Initial Evidence Is Required?" to determine what criminal history documentation to include with your petition.

i understand i need to provide previous address but what about criminal history documentation?
there is no criminal histroy on him!

on the other hand should i provide the AR-11 i submitted online?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow long does it take to get an interview ??
Hi.
How long does it take to get the biometrics appointment and the interview if you're getting one after you submit I-751.The reason I'm asking is I'm gonna be filling I-751 next week and I'm planing to travel outside the United States in December.

You have to file AR-11 and I-865 and I just found that out. headbonk.gif .. my husband didn't file the I-865. I am almost about to file the I-751 and don't know what to do regarding his I-865.
