CaribbeanChanges coming in Santo Domingo

I don't have an exact date on when this started, but they're a number of changes in the Visa Interview Process.

1) The Embassy is no longer using Banco Popular. The entire $265us must be paid at the Embassy on the day of your Cita/interview.

2) The Embassy is no longer using DomEx for their visa courier service. They will be using a New "un-named" courier service starting in November

3) The Visa Medical Facility is now requiring (although it's not on their website) 5 passport pictures (2x2 size) for your medical exam instead of 3.

4) I know recently people have been having a difficult time getting visa information from DOS/NVC for their upcoming interviews. On November 12, there will be a new number to call and website to check your visa status.

829-956-5144 (Dominican Republic) or 703-988-3410 (U.S.).  (both are toll-free)

and/or

I will continue to update the Dom Rep NOA2 page and Dom Rep Country Info page as I receive new information.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks Mr. Tee for previous help but I have another question.  We are trying to get all of the funds together for medical and visa fee and anything else we need to pay.

So the medical fee will vary depending on vaccines and flu shot correct?  The Consular Website states for his age group, the Flu shot is $99.00. and the Medical Exam with the Vaccines is a separate $289.00.  And in addition to this amount the Visa Fee is $265.00.  Am I correct or am I missing something?  Thanks so much.

CaribbeanChanges coming in Santo Domingo

Changes for residents visas come on january 1, 2015.
The information is on the wed.

Changes on november 12 are for turist visa, student visa and job visa.
Embassy continue using banco popular service.
The aplicant on november 12 need to fill out a form on the wedsite and create an profil after that will get a Page with information about how much to pay at banco popular, once paid at banco popular go again on the wedsite to get an appoinment.
Papers are going to be received before the cita at galeria 360 at santo domingo, in this place the applicant will gmake the fingersprint and take picture.
Then another day will have the cita.
consulate will has 12 mailbox in diferent city and people will get passport in one of this mailbox.

So for K-1 visa, my fiance still has to pay Banco Popular and then again at the embassy.Oh wow, I'm not keen on this paying part here, part there stuff. It's makes you have to keep many receipts, if we don't have enouch of those already. I wish they would come up with a One-Stop-Processing Center, where everything could be done a different stations, set up in the same location.. but wait, no, this is the government, that would be too easy.. Oh well. we'll just wait until it's time for our cita and hope things change for K-1 filers as well.

VietnamHey
When you call keep pressing redial. Sometimes I had to press redial like about 20 or 30 times. They will eventually answer, but be prepared to wait on hold for at least 30 to 40 minutes.

You can also email them as another option.

I suggest you go to this site IM2US.net and ask your question. There is an attorney that answers questions about bans and waivers for free. It's called Laura's chat and I think it's held on Wednesdays. Not sure of the day, but, I can tell you that the people on the site are very knowledgeable about cases and situations like yours.

I wish you success!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)DCP criminal record, ap for 5 months
I'm so sad to hear that news. Continue to pray and trust in God. I know that seems like easier said than done, but remember God is greater than all of us and he can make ANYTHING happen according to his will and there is nothing MAN can do about it. If God is on your side, Nothing or No one can stand against you!!! You continue to be in my prayers.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)DCP criminal record, ap for 5 months

From your statement that they did not withdraw information provided to them from the US would most likely be our in reference to your fiancee, if you have never been to U.S. Have you spent anytime in the U.S.? If not, the record from the U.S. would definitely pertain to your fiancee. Please ask him if he has ever been in trouble. I dont think tickets or anything like that would be a problem, it would have to be one of the charges that he would have had to answer Yes or No to, on the Original I-129F petition. Just my opinion.

Just found some information and I don't know if it is correct but it seems DCP has to do with child protective services and that someone had in some way harmed a child. That's all my friend was able to tell me. Please contact your fiancee. Maybe he can shed some light on the matter. My prayers are with you and I pray that my information is incorrect, but it did come from a reliable source in the court system. I'm sorry, if I'm right and pray that I am wrong. Prayers to you.

When I did the I-601 for my ex- spouse in Lima Peru , my ex did need a police report and I was able to attend the interview with him. During the visa interview you will be denied but told you are eligible for a waiver. At that time submit your waiver.

The important thing is to have your hardship waiver packet already prepared before your visa interview so that way you can turn it in at the interview.

Ex was from Jesus-Maria and didn't really have a distinguishable address either. We just put as much information as we could. He received all his info from consulate via DHL. DHL called his phone when his visa was ready and he went to DHL and picked it up

IM2US.net is a site you may want to visit, as they deal mostly with waivers. Best to you.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Got Case # from NVC, What Now?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Got Case # from NVC, What Now?

This morning I got the case number from NVC :joy: . Was told that case will be forwarded to Santo Domingo next week.  How can I confirm the date? What do I do now?

Thanks in advance for your help.

DarkKissNot TellingDominican Republic2014-08-25 10:25:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)Response to NVC Request to Expedite
I sent email to SantoDomingoVisas@state.gov on August 31,2014. On September 2, 2014 , I received the following response:

"Good Morning'
Thank you for your message.
Your case is still at NVC, you may speak with them to see if you have the option to have the case expedited."

Kind Regards
Consular Communication Unit
US Embassy, Santo Domingo

Of course I called NVC and was told that ALL K-1s are currently being expedited by NVC to the appropriate embassys. They said they do not process K-1s. They sent them straight out to the embassy and that I should request expedite from embassy once they have received our case.

After 3 phones calls to NVC today went something like this:
1st Person hung up on me after 45 minutes of waiting to be connected, 2nd Person couldn't tell me anything much only that my case was received by them on August 22, 2014 and that I needed to wait 25 business days, and finally the last person told me wait 10-20 business days and I should receive a letter from NVC informing be that case has been sent to Embassy.

I am so done! Will not be calling them back and wasting my time for about another week or so!!!

NVC Expedite for K-1 Filers.........IT DOES NOT EXIST!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Response to NVC Request to Expedite

NVC says they forward the expedite email they receive directly to the Embassy.  Being that NVC takes forever to do anything, it might be advise to email the Embassy directly with the request.

I will forward email request for expedite to embassy as well. Just want to cover all bases. Thanks for you info.
DarkKissNot TellingDominican Republic2014-08-31 08:21:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)Response to NVC Request to Expedite
On the 22 Aug 2014 , I emailed an expedite request to NVC. Today I received the following response:

"Dear Sir/Madam
Once the approved 129 Petition filed by US Citizen is received at NVC, it is processed in approx 10-20 business days and forwarded to the appropriate US/Embassy Consulate General. The Embassy/Consulate General may or may not request additional information before interviewing for a K-1 non-immigrant visa"

This is all the email stated, so my question is, do I have to submit another request for expedite to the Embassy or does NVC the send the request I sent to Them along with the packet to the consulate? From their statement that if consulate needs more info seems to validate that notion but I'm not sure with these people.

My packet was received at NVC on 22 Aug 2014, so 20 business days will be 22 Sep 2014 not counting date received and 1 Sep which is federal holiday.

Has anyone else dealt with this type of response on expedite request and anyone else received info about the 10 to 20 processing time for K-1 at NVC? Thanks in advance.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Case in transit
As for me, I just received an email stating that it was up to embassy/consular section to request additional info if need.

It's crazy because some people receive emails stating it's approved and some not.

Forza1906, this is my first time dealing with an expedite request so I don't have that much experience. I can only relate on what happened to me. I also requested at expedite at the embassy and they told me to request it at NVC. Yea, it's pretty crazy.

Maybe one of the more experienced VJers will chime in some with a definite answer to your question. Stay strong!!!

The CEAC status also stated that my interview date has been set by NVC. What does this mean and how can I find out the interview date for verification?

Oh I found the answer. This is just a genetic message. Embassy sets the interview date. No problem.

They should receive your case at the Embassy in DR in like a week to ten days. They will email you once they have a cita for you. I would say within two weeks. It happened just like that to my friend. I'm the only retard waiting to get her case sent off to DR after the approval expedite. :(
Keep me updated. Would love to hear how it goes.

So if your case is not on this list does that mean we won't be up for an interview until at least November? Are these ALL the appointment or will they still continue to schedule? I see there aren't many October dates listed. Embassy has had my file since July 31 :(

Make sure you open it in Adobe then click the binoculars icon to search my #

When I go to the consular website , I can only click on the interview list PDF file and the list of interviews come up. There are no binoculars or anything else.

When you say open in adobe what does that mean? Thanks in advance

Also, who sets the k-1 interviews, Is it NVC or The embassy? Thanks again.

Hey I am doing well. Yes we do on October 20. Getting everything ready for it. How are you?

You need you SDO case number to search the list.

i have the case number. I went to the interview list and its 87 pages long.  I checked each number and it took me almost 30 minutes.  I didn't see our number however I could have missed it.  Is there a way to just search for our case number only?

Hello, to pay at banco popular you need the packet 4.
The instruction letter, to do the medical and pay at banco popular.
Good luck, when the papers arrive to santo domingo, you need to wait some months for interview date.
I hope you get your interview soon.
In one month after the papers be at the consulate you can call or e-mail the consulate to know your intwrview date.

Ok thanks again my friend!

Thanks i was thinking about calling on Monday but will wait couple days to see if the status change. The second part of this is to ensure the docs they send actually make it to the physical address.

Yes that's true. It would be devastating to make it this far and have our document get lost in the horrible mail system. I pray that this does not happen to us. That's the only thing we can do is PRAY!

So I called Santo Domingo and was informed that even though packet might be in mail room, it still has to go through all the stops and processes before it's assigned to someone and that someone enters the info into the system. After all that is done status will change from In-Transit to Ready.

Makes sense to me.

did you get the letter from the nvc?

No letter from NVC. When I sent request for Expedite to NVC, they emailed me back and advised me that Expedites for K-1's were processed by appropriate embassy, not NVC. So I emailed embassy after they received my packet. They emailed me back a few days ago, informing me that my request had been submitted to the IV Unit Chief and when a Decision was made, they would inform me.

I haven't gotten any other contact from them since that email. I just happened to check CEAC today and notice that the Status Date had changed that's all.
