US Citizenship General Discussion	Background check - additional administrative processing	Our petition was approved and sent to the NVC in the beginning of May and wasnt forwarded to the embassy until the end of June. It was also sent to DC for administrative processing at that time. It is my understanding that Administrative Processing can happen at all levels. So this is not unusual and unfortunately, there is no timeframe for it to be finished in AP. I know this is very frustrating. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	What is an "AP" ?	Administrative Processing is a generic term that can mean anything and everything. Paperwork, additional documentation required, etc. etc. etc. Almost all pakistani males will be put on AP after interview. It is very rare to see a male not get AP. A person can remain in AP for a few weeks, months, and in rare cases years. There is no timeframe for it. And... you will be given no explanation for it either. People have written the embassy, called DOS, had legislators contact the embassy, and they will tell you absolutely nothing. The only option is to WAIT through it. We were told after interview that our case required additional processing. It is now 7 months later, and we are still waiting. Islamabad Embassy is very slow in processing. So that allows for checks, police certificates, and medicals to expire. Then they have to be done all over again, which further delays the issuance of the visa. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	I-130 and K-3	I am very confused here. You have already started the (I-130) CR1/IR1. You have already paid the I864 bill and you have already sent your DS 3032 to the NVC. If your timeline is incorrect and you havent done these things yet .... You should call the NVC to find out if you even have an OPTION. It sounds to me like the NVC has already made this choice for you. If you were K3.... your case would have been forwarded to the embassy and you would not have received paperwork from the NVC. Our case is K3 and we NEVER received this paperwork from the NVC. Now about a K3 being faster than a CR1/IR1.... look at my timeline. Most Pakistani males go through AP (Administrative Processing). Now, some have gotten lucky and avoided a lengthy AP. At this point, K3 visa is not any faster for a pakistani male. Something else to consider.... With a K3 you will have to pay $1010 USD for AOS and EAD upon arrival to the US. With CR1/IR1 you will have not have that extra expense and your husband can begin employment immediately after arrival to the US. I don't know if a bankruptcy can stop you from getting your visa, but it sure can cause you a headache. My bankruptcy was the main topic of discussion at my husband's interview. Then following the interview I had to submit my bankruptcy court paperwork to the embassy. Not everyone will have this experience with a bankruptcy but as pushbrk stated they do know about it. There are examples forms to follow as well. And if you have any questions, there are plenty of people here that have some experience with it and are willing to help you out. But any visa for a Pakistani guy is going to take longer than most. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING. Almost every guy from Pakistan will go through AP after the interview at the embassy. A few are very lucky and only have to endure a month or two. Some have had to endure a year or more. I've got affidavits of us meeting from people here, photos galore, letters/cards from her to me and letters/cards from me to her, copy of insurance policies with us as each other's beneficiaries, passport stamp copies, her new passport with name change copy, newspaper articles of her for school stating I am her husband, do we have to have emails and chats? Is just emails ok? How many? Do I need her old passport or just copy? I have her flight itinerary and some of her travel documents, she lost her tickets though. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Lawyers are a waste of money!	Hello! My wife thinks the lawyer slowed us down tremendously. He had us wait 8 months because we did not have a co sponsor for our affadavit of support. After May my wife got eager to follow through with the applications and said we are starting it without the co sponsor. We ended up contactig the lawyers in June and finally got the files sent out in July to the Chicago Lockbox. Because if we had waited any longer we would never have gotten the ball rolling.-As we all know the waiting lines at VSC are not getting any shorter, if anything they are getting longer day-by-day. So I am glad that we are finally in the midst of all this even though it is going by slower than we had anticipated ad no touches for 104 days. It is really frustrating to think we have to be apart this long due to negligence on the lawyer's behalf. I am familiar with this company, and I also got quotes from other attorneys who scour these sites looking for applicants, of $1200 to 4500.00, (when i was ready to file) .I said NO, I ordered the Immigration kit from this Visanow company you discuss. I wanted to to have a working set of papers and example forms to lay out next to mine, to make sure everything was right, and i was too lazy to print out every form and example on the VJ site After I started looking at their forms and comments, much of it was outdated, and/or changed and i sent 2-3 emails telling them, but never even got a thank you relpy for the updates and I'm sure they were never changed. I confirmed my mistakes thru Vj and the Embassy Website before I wrote them, so basically the $50.00 Guide helped me on a couple of forms that I could have got from VJ anyways When my close friend paid $1800 for his attorney in June, he asked if I wanted to use his when I was ready 2 months later. Here it is November, I'm still waiting for NOA2 going on 4 months and he hasn't even started his Packet 3 yet as mine is all done and ahead of schedule, and he hasn't got his NOA2 yet either. When I asked him how this could be as mine was signed for in July, he told me his attorney never even got it in the mail until August, so now I am AHEAD of him!!! And I didn't pay a penny. I asked him if maybe he delayed his paperwork and he tells me he mailed everything to them on June 19th. Received false RFE's but our case got completed (after confirming twice with Operators)and we await an interview date at our consulate. We received the following email in response to the false RFE's and later confirmed with the operators that our case has already been completed. All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the designated representative of this case (applicant,petitioner, or attorney) will be notified.
