You should read the Huskerkiev posts about the process at the service centres. It's an interesting read. Essentially they receive your petition, give it a cursory check, assign a case number and cash your check and then put it in a box on a shelf for 4 months. They then take it off the shelf and assign it to a case worker and it is then that the case is properly looked at and any RFE's are identified. Hope you get your RFE sorted out quickly. good.gif

We also got the same RFE. I think you should send new ones of yourself and your fiancee. I also suggest not to send scanned passport ID pics just to be on the safe side. There's a reason why they are asking for it, I think some adjudicators are very strict when it comes to pictures. Just read the instructions on how to take US visa passport size photos. It states that you will need verification of approval. When you go to the USCIS website, you can print the status by using a button called a Printer Friendly Status... this as I have been informed by the National Visa Center is acceptable and will be acceptable replacement for a NOA2 that has never been received!

My point was that some (many?) people get no status update online. This means that if they never get a NOA2, they cannot know that they have been approved. Admittedly, most people without an update appear to have received a hard copy I-797, but certainly no e-mail (kinda unlikely without the online status update).

This puts us in a position of having to call USCIS every %^&* day to see what's up. Great. And even then some folks there just look at their screens and say sorry, no update; be patient etc.

In the meantime, the petition may already be approved, on its way to NVC or on its way to the embassy. All without us having heard a peep. Not cool.

I mean, how many errors can there be: no NOA1s mailed out, no NOA2s, no online updates, arbitrary touches etc etc.

It gives an estimated time line based on other filers with the same country and service center as you. It's a pretty good tool and can give someone an estimated time for a possible approval.

In some cases, it's not as accurate as it could be but it's still a good thing.

they've been sending out case complete emails about a week after they finish reviewing all documents. When in doubt, it's always better to just call them.

Thanks for your info. I'll call next Wednesday. I've delayed myself a few days, otherwise by today, it would have been completed suppose nothing wrong. :thumbs:

Does any one out there have a case# that have been approved Feb. 1 and after?

Must be someone there. My case was approved Jan 15th, arrived at NVC Jan 21, a case number was assigned 1 Feb. So it totally took only 16 days to get a case number. You've been waiting 27 days, it should come any time. Keep calling!
