I checked USCIS website for case status today (probably for the 'n"th time)

It shows updated on 29th Aug but just Alien registration number changed on 29th Aug! still in initial review!

Till now it was the same msg (Alien registration number changed) but date was July 19th, 2013

What does it mean? or does it mean anything?

We have the same avatar! :)

I got the same message today! Hopefully this means good news for the both of us!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice certificate

I'm not sure i this is in the right place so can some one please move if if not pleeease. At what point do I need to get my police certificate? and what extra information will I need if it shows up with a warning or a caution on it?Also, can you still fly on the vwp if you have a caution but have never been arrested cause if not I think I may have done something wrong.. cheersSorry bout the spelling mistakes.. I just woke up haha

It's advisable to order the police certificate close to your expected NOA2 time - you need the certificate to take to the medical. It can take time to come, although you can pay more to get it quicker (within a week or two I think). Anyhow, the certificate is good for 1 year so you will have plenty of time before it expires if you order it early.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMarried for love, barred for life??

As sad and tragic as this story is, should it be true, please by all means I sincerely hope that she can change status. But, it seems really fishy. I just don't see how, even when it's religious, you can not expect to have sex with your fiance when you're about to get married, living under his roof, and sleeping in his bed. If it was really religious, she probably broke that rule when she left her home and pretty much moved in with him. Unless, she stayed at a family members home be it cousin, aunt, uncle, etc? Now if her fiance is a man who see's the same views as her sure, but here she should have known full well of the customs of the person she's engaged to. What I see is a women who will do anything to get to the USA, even lie to her fiance that she does genuinely love him. He spends time, money, and effort to get her here and realizes he's been duped. That is all speculation of course, but because we are not given the whole story, at best, all you should expect from us is criticism. Don't feel bad though, because I'm sure many of us would love this to be a tragic story with a happy ending. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm sure we all would have much preferred this to be a story of true love but probably between the petitioner and the beneficiary. The system here has been too abused and only hurt those of us who are genuine so I'm sure you can see why we can't all be compassionate and supportive.

This is the most hateful thing I have ever read on VJ. There are so many things wrong with this post. First of all, especially here, we should at least know enough to know that there are a lot of different cultures and beliefs in the world that we do not understand and should respect. Secondly, between any two people, sex should ALWAYS be consensual, no matter what either of them EXPECTS based on time and money invested or anything else. And lastly, Anyone posting here should expect at best to be taken at their word and given helpful advice. There is no point to this forum if we can only expect at best to be treated suspiciously and with criticism. Of course we can and should be compassionate and supportive. Didn't you ever face suspicion and need a place where you could find support? Shame on you Isamu.

OP, I am so sorry that your thread has gone this way. I do agree with other posters here that the best thing to do is get a good immigration lawyer, and while I can't suggest one, I know others have. Try searching old threads and I think you can find some good referrals. I think too many people have not read this thread very thoroughly, which can be annoying, and way too many people got up on the wrong side of the bed and just have a bad attitude today. Most of the time, people on VJ ARE compassionate and supportive, even in unique cases. I wish I could offer better advice. Please know that I wish you the best.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExpedite for Pregnancy in Pakistan?
You can certainly try to expedite if you want, but as many here have advised, success is extremely unlikely. You made the choice to get pregnant, and now you have to make the choice of where to have your baby. I can understand that it is a difficult choice with consequences either way, but it is your choice to make. I am sure there are plenty of people here that can help you weigh your options, but expediting is unfortunately not one of them. It might be time to focus your attention on the options you do have and try to make the best decision for your family.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWill Spouse visa get denied for Herpes PLEASE HELP
She will not be denied for admitting herpes. Definitely check yes on the form.

By the way, since someone brought up stats earlier, around 20% of the US population has genital herpes, and I think about 80% of the US population has oral herpes (both are herpes simplex virus). While we are talking about STDs, 40% of the US population has HPV, and over 20% has high-risk HPV (the types that can lead to cervical cancer). Please consider vaccination if you or a family member is a candidate. (Stats from CDC.gov).

I think that I've read it all and then another horror story appears on VJ which completely gobsmacks me. It ceases to amaze me how often they screw things up. I too would be crazy right now if I was in your shoes.

I'm really sorry, I have no advice to offer, only a small worthless piece of encouragement, which is hang in there as bad as it seems right now, you will get to the end of this process one day and never have to deal with these people again!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWho is excited for the new waiver

I would certainly like to see the solid evidence that the new waiver cases are being processed ahead of legal immigration cases. Other than someone believing that waiver cases are getting approved before their own, where is the evidence of this?

I don't believe the waiver cases are getting approved before legal immigration in general. But it could happen for a few cases (not too few) since it's not an uncommon thing that later ones get approved earlier. And it's not a good thing that USCIS will have heavier work load in March. No one can guarantee they will not switch some people from approving I-130 to deal with the many waiver applications.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWho is excited for the new waiver

I don't think many people at all here are excited for this waiver because it really makes no difference to the majority of us.

I'm not excited for the new waiver. On the contrary I worry it will slow down legal immigrants processing time since it will be overwhelming applications in March and USCIS will slow down everything. :bonk:

The really sad thing about apeach's impatience in statring this topic again is that i have read multiple posts about dominican republic taking a solid year for an interview even after noa2 is recieved. So i do feel sorry that she has such a long wait, but still at the rate she is going she'll drive herself crazy well before interview time.

But still i do wish her well

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 & 4

My husband will be rubbing shoulders at the embassy with Zandra's... literally the same embassy, the same day! He also wanted to know if there is a current list of questions to study up on.  As far as I know, the questions will come from the documents the embassy has in their possession... which is half the reason we did not submit 5 pounds smile.png But it would be better to be prepared and we wanted to practice some sample questions.

I'll go correct my packet 3 date on my timeline, too... oops8rh.gif

From what I understand the questions are very simple and your significant other and you should already know them. They're questions like, what is your fiance/spouses name, where did you meet, if it was online, what was the site, have you meet in person before and where, what does she/he do in the United States, where will you live. From what I've read from many others, it's four questions and they're all very simple, so you should do great!

Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTranslation: Emails

I read somewhere that those things aren't necessarily looked at until the case reaches your local embassy.  It was in a post here on VJ so you might try to search for that.  Anyway, the bottom line was emails, chats, don't waste time translating them, it's unnecessary.

The instructions provide guidelines.  There is no requirement that they be taken at a professional visa photo shop.

They:

1. Must be within 30 days

2. White background

3. glossy finish

4. unretouched (no enhancing or other digital changes)

5. face should be 1 inch from chin to top of hair

no glasses is a good idea.

Might help to make sure and keep your address updated with USCIS (US/Uganda).  Seems unlikely they would schedule any appt for you far away from your registered address, actually seems like they would schedule an appt at the location nearest your address.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCivil union in England, but apply for marriage visa for America?

If you check out Immigration Equality's website (http://immigrationeq...yactionfund.org), they might give you more direction.  Last I heard from them after the fall of DOMA was "get married now!"  England looks like will have marriage equality by end of year, I don't know how Spain is with residency requirements, nor the other European countries with equality.  Canada?  Here in Argentina originally they had residency requirements but took them away.  The only problem would be they are slow about processing documents so you'd have to plan to be here a while if you want to make sure you get a certified copy of marriage certificate.  Otherwise, a fiancé visa would be appropriate with the plan of getting married after you reach the USA.  USCIS has stated that the state where the ceremony is performed (one of the 13 +DC) is the key, not the state of residence, so irrespective of what state your fiancé lives in, you can get the fiance visa (if unmarried).  Of course, don't get married elsewhere after you already started the fiance visa... that might be very complicated.  Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureslost-need help

1. Official birth cert from state you were born in... then send it to the state's secretary of state, very simple, cheap and doesn't take long depending on your state.

2. I don't know.

3. Is it a residence certificate from the US? or from Germany?  Here in Argentina they have residence certificates which are obtained from the local police precinct.  Pay $10 pesos and they deliver it to your residence the next day (to make sure you live there).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFrom which day should I guide myself to call NVC

Don't call, it's a waste of time.  Even on the day our case was entered in the system and assigned the case number they always told me the same thing "wait 20 25 business days....."

Send an email to NVC at  nvcinquiry@state.gov   and ask to register your case for email notifications.  Include your names, dob's, email address, and USCIS case number.

We received the email notification the same day the case was entered, just after i had called and asked again.

I'm not sure they actually look it up when you call.  They just say "wait..."
