Congratulations to Austin_Volgograd  My fiancee got here a week ago and it feels like we are newlyweds. I wish the best of luck to you. I know you were cutting it close with getting the visa before your travel date.

Hi to all! I posted under the consulate section, but I am also posting here to let you know about the interview at the Moscow Embassy.
Irina has her interview today. She SMS me when she passed. She told me that all of the women that were interviewed passed. It only lasted about a couple of hours for the 10 of them. This should be encouraging to the rest of you. Basically, be prepared to answer how you met. They surprised me by asking about our age difference. I am 10 years older than Irina.
Other than that, as long as you have your documents and money, be prepared to be issued a visa. She described the wokers as being very friendly as well. It was nice to hear that they made a stressful process easier for her and the other women. Good luck to the rest of you going through this long journey

I guess it is a small world. My fiancee's interview is also on October 16. I think there are 15 interviews scheduled for that day, or at least according to the embassy's website. We have her medical scheduled for Thursday October 12. We are not worried about the interview since Irina is fluent in English, and we have plenty of documents supporting our ongoing relationship and the income requirements. I also heard that as long as you can convince them of the ongoing relationship, there is nothing to worry about. Good Luck!

This reply is mainly for travlnmannn, so congratulations to the two of you. You have a date to mark down on your calendar! Our fiancee's had interviews on October 16 and passed. Three days later, my fiancee sent me a text message saying she had her visa in hand. It was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders after a 7 month journey so far. So I wish you the best when she arrives to Chicago.
As for the original post, I hope that Cam is joking in some way. Leaving the woman you love and not knowing when you will meet again is a very touching moment. I still remember seeing Irina for the last time as she saw me off at the Moscow airport before taking the 12 hour train ride back to where she lives in Cheboksary. It is a memory I will cherish forever. I thank him for this post by giving me the chance to remember my last sight of Irina. It is a nice, warm thought as I await her arrival to me on Thursday October 26, just a few days away.

ChinaJust touching base
It's 24 days before I leave for Beijing again this year. We will spend a week together there and then off to Changchun to meet her family. I will officially purpose there in front of her mother and father. When I return with her papers, she has been getting them together this last month, I'll be submitting my I-129F. I'm sure I'll question on how to check on it's process.

I look forward to all the help I'll be getting from all of you!

USCIS Service CentersThe latest news about CSC K1's

Have you looked through the other case types for CSC? The one I found interesting was the I-485. They have been processing 2 to 3 times a typical month since August. Also how did the pending cases go up that huge amount last year with almost no receipts?

That is because last year they started transferring some I-485 to CSC from NBC to "help speed up the processing" However there are still people from April and May still waiting for their green cards. So it is good to see they are trying to get those processed.

USCIS Service CentersNBC - AOS processing times

I know :(   i was really hoping to get ours by the end of this month...I did a service request back in march and have not gotten any response.     there are still so many july and august filers at NBC that are still waiting so I figure It will probably be at least June or July for us

USCIS Service CentersNBC - AOS processing times

Yesterday I was talking to a patient of mine and it turns out she works at NBC here in Lee's summit.  She does background checks and said they are expected to do 40- 50 a day.  She also said right now that NBC is so over-whelmed with applications that they are very far behind on all of them.  She said that 9 months to a year would sound about right for AOS from K1 and she said they are gearing up to be inudated with even more paper work when immigration reform happens and that it is going to get even worse :(

United Kingdommoving on k1 and drivers license..

Need  at least EAD in Missouri as well.  Actually, you can go to the DMV and pay to take the test and if you pass the DMV will issue you a temporary paper one to use until your license is issued, only instead of getting your license in the mail you will get a letter from the state saying that there is not enough time left before the 194 expires to issue your license so it has been denied.  You will then have to pay to re-take the test when you have your EAD in hand.

IMBRA Special TopicsJust sent my RFE back to Vermont
well at least we can now see why it took them so long to come up with this, its such a substantial piece of work!!!!!

And I am sure that question 1 could be answered by some peoples original petitions, for example myself and my fiance met in person in las vegas while I was on holiday and this was stated in the original petition.

Also what is to stop the petitioner from lying about any possible convictions and if they are going to check up on the information it begs the question why didn't they just check in the first place without holding everything up for months on end

I got touched on the 12th also, I also got an email saying that they had recieved my response to the RFE. It was the same one others had recieved

"On July 12, 2006, we received your response to our request for evidence or
information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining
processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will
receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to
estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current
processing dates. "

Hopefully they cant get on with it and get the approvals out soon.

United KingdomInterview yesterday!
Congrats on the interview, hopefully everyone elses will go as smooth.

With regards the flights I flown with BA, Virgin, KLM, and continental and have found that virgin were far and away the best. BA were alright, KLM were good, especially for the price. Continental were #######, the only good thing was that they flew direct from Bristol so we didnt have to go to London.

When I am booking my flight for my final move I will be going for virgin unless they are drastically more expensive, but I have found them cheaper than BA, but slightly more expensive than KLM. The only other bad point with virgin is that they dont fly to Kansas City (where my fiance lives) and dont have internal american flights there so I have to check out and then check in with another airline.

United KingdomPolice Certificate

I am right at the beginning of the process but do you think it would be sensible to apply for a police certificate now to be on the safe side?
And can I double check you only need one for countries lived in for longer than one year? Jon and I met in Germany where I lived for 10 months and I have no idea how to begin obtaining a certificate from another country!!

Sorry I'm being pedantic, I woke up in the middle of the night last night thinking about what we have to do!! I think that might have been a product of too much time spent on this site

I want to make sure we get it all right first time!

Thanks guys.

Yes you only need one if you have been in the country for 12 months, see below

United KingdomInternational movers
Since I have sent packet 3 back and got my medical booked I am now trying to plan actually moving over there. I am selling most of my stuff, but there is some stuff that I want to take over with me, what is the best and cheapest way of getting it over there, has anyone got any suggestions.

I only have around 100kg of stuff (I think), with no bulky items like wardrobes or bed, its mostly clothes, some choice books, baby stuff and bits and bobs.

anyway thanks in advance

United KingdomLondon Emabassy interview
We havent actually booked our flights, but those are the days that we are looking to leave. I havent resigned yet as I have saved up my leave to take two weeks off when I leave (thus getting a paycheck once I am in America), plus I might be able to move over with my current company.

I am taking a bit of a risk by booking flights, but I am confident that I have everthing in order and my Fiance will be with me at the interview. We are looking at getting the visa around 5 days after the interview date and then leaving around a week later.

I could all go horribly wrong, but I have waited so long I just want to get over there and get on with my life.

It does seem that on average it takes around 2 months to 2.5 months from NOA2 to interview.

United KingdomVaccination at my NHS Doctors?
Yeah you dont need chickenpox, they did ask me if I had had it. I got a tetanus and MMR from my NHS GP before I went to the medical, saved me paying £35 each at the private medical clinic. They printed out my vacination record and the people at the medical were happy with that.

United Kingdommoving costs

I used www.excessbaggage.com and we got 8 3CUF boxes and the cost is just over £500, dropped boxes at the house and they got picked up today.

Thanks, where are you shipping to in America? It will make a difference...

How much stuff are you looking to actually ship ?

I brought 3 extra suitcases in addition to the 2 I was allowed on American Airlines. I paid about $170GBP in excess baggage charges and the bags arrived at the same time that I did.

I paid about 150GBP to ship my bike using UPS using a 7 days door to door service but its worth mentioning that if you have a bike properly packed in a bike box or carrier, it can be checked in place of one piece of luggage.

You may be looking to ship far more than would fit in suitcases but if you're just talking clothes / CD's etc.. then I'd contact the airline and inquire about excess baggage limits and charges.

Mark :)

He doesn't want to deal with extra bags at the airport. It's mostly books so slow is OK.

United KingdomThe final countdown

Well I have my interview on Monday and I am getting a bit nervous. I still havent received all the neccessary paperwork from my lawyers, though they insist that it is on its way. I am moving out of my house in one week (staying with friend and away with work), I have flights booked for the 12th October and my work is letting me go on unpaid leave in the hope that I find a position with them in america, therefore no need to resign just yet.

Boxes were picked up yesterday, going to a car boot sale on Saturday and been to the dump more times than I can remember. Spending money hand over fist and booked up our wedding in Las Vegas, we are having a small wedding in Vegas and then sometime next year we will have a blessing service where we will invite all our family over.

My POE is going to be Boston, anyone had any experiance with flying into there, any hope of getting the temp EAD (I suspect not, but I am going to ask anywhere).

Cant wait to get there and take a break

:D

We'll be glad when Monday is over too!!! But by all accounts it doesn't seem too bad, just hoping we crossed all our t's and dotted all our i's. :) Oh well, we'll find out on Monday! All the best to you!!!

Good luck to you to, probably see you there.

Well I travelled up the following day to London and stayed at the Travelodge Wembley (booked for £26), next day walked the 1/2 mile to the tube station and took the 20 min journey to Bond street, went to the picture place and then walked the 5 mins to the embassy.

I got there at 9:15 (my interview time was 10), and was let in at 9:40. Walked round and got my number and sat down. After just under 1hr I was called up and asked for all my documention. I had forgot to photocopy my birth cert and my police cert, but the guy moaned at me and then photocopied them for me. He then gave me my x-ray and took my fingerprints, all this took around 20 mins and I then sat down for around 1 hr.

I was then called again and was met by another guy he asked for pics of my son (that I had with my fiancee). He looked at them and then asked about her mum and dad and our Co-Sponser, what my fiance does in america and he then said barring anything getting flagged on the fingerprint scans I would get my visa in 3-5 working days, which then turned up 2 days later without getting the promised text message.

Glad to have it in my grubby little hands.

As I understand it if he has never been arrested or charged with any offence then there wont be anything in his police record. As my police record stated that there was no record of me ever being arrested or cautioned. I would confirm this with the police, but I am fairly confident that there wont be anything on there.
