IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2013

I had a nightmare last night that NVC sent me an email revoking our case complete and asking for our dog's dental records. Posted Image I think I've been involved in this process for too long! I'm losing my mind.

 Oh it's a funny dream. Let's have a good laughter! I like all of us, also experienced all the worries, pressure, painstaking long waiting and finally, one minute ago I called NVC and got the message that my case is COMPLETED! Thank God! This long wearing NVC stage almost pushed me to my limit, since my dad is 74 years old been denied visa 4 times during past 4 years and got desperate. Finally we had to go through immigration, not for long time living here just for visiting us. Now he can come soon! His interview date is Apr 16th. Thank God, He has helped us! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - March 2013

Called today, waited exactly 5 seconds before someone took the call! :)
No news though, he said that even if the packages were received, he cannot see it yet. He gave me the 20 business day processing time.

I'm planning on calling twice a week now.

Some people have similar timeline as yours have completed their cases. You're so close now!

I don't plan on calling back until next Friday. My aos was delivered on a Wednesday and completed the following Friday. That was a good enough guideline for me. My iv arrived yesterday, sup next Friday it is.

It took them 4 business days to review my IV after it's in the system. (Now I'm waiting RFE to be reviewed.)

This finally occurred to me. Am I suppose to put my wife's last name the same as my last name on the forms?

What's on her passport and other certificate? I think you'll send her certificates, they should be same, right?

After all the waiting for the NOA2 I am so impatient for my case to get to NVC. I don't get how it could take this long to get from Vermont to New Hampshire.

Hey? you really need to be patient for this stage. I swear NVC is the most headache stage, complicated and wears people out. But as long as you get everything ahead of time, it takes hopefully one month to get it through, once you receive your case #.

Congratulations do you mind if I add you to the interview list just for reference sake. WOW that is awesome.

I just hope my case will get a May interview. I can't hope for a April one any longer. I've slowed things down. :(

Hey Champi, your docs look good to me! The p3 supplement (ugly) form is only specific to China, I believe. Hope your case will be completed pretty soon! :)

HI Grace2013,
Thank you so much for the information. It is actually my husband who is petitioning for his mom. But I assume your advise is related to DS-230 package? My husband was naturalized last August. However, we do plan to send following information. Let me know if you think I should add anything to this list. Also, the ugly form that you had to fill out, is it specific to China or is it required for all IR-5 application regardless of where beneficiary is from?

0. Cover Letter
1. Bar Coded Cover sheet
2. 2 Passport Size Photos of the Beneficiary
3. Signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the Beneficiary
4. Unsigned form DS-230 Part 2 by the Beneficiary
5. Original Birth Certificate of the Beneficiary
6. Original Police Certificates of the Beneficiary
7. Photocopy of the Passport’s Biographic Data Page of the Beneficiary and PCC stamp
8. Sworn affidavit by aunt and grandmother (this is because marriage certificate of beneficiary is not available)
9. Original Unavailability of Marriage Certificate from registrar office (this is because marriage certificate of beneficiary is not available)
10. Death certificate of Petitioner’s father
11. Original Petitioner’s birth certificate
12. Original Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current marriages (only married once)
13. Copy of Petitioner’s Naturalization certificate

Copy of
5. Birth Certificate of the Beneficiary
6. Police Certificates of the Beneficiary
7. Photocopy of the Passport’s Biographic Data Page of the Beneficiary and PCC stamp
8. Sworn affidavit by aunt and grandmother (this is because marriage certificate of beneficiary is not available)
9. Unavailability of Marriage Certificate from registrar office (this is because marriage certificate is not available)
10. Death certificate of Petitioner’s father
11. Petitioner’s birth certificate
12. Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.
13. Petitioner’s Naturalization certificate

Not so sure about work from home, specially since all the information they get from us is privacy related. But then, we can always wish that they can :)

Champi, I noticed that your case is also IR5. Here's what my lesson: We have to send them as many as docs, even some do not make too much sense. I was not born in America. And on our consulate site it says I have to submit my Naturalization form instead of my birth certificate since the former proves I'm USC, not the latter. But however NVC still sent me an RFE for my birth certificate. And also there's a very ugly form, actually not a form at all, with one page, have to put on some information, like case #, category, beneficiary's name, address. Even I'm in EP, and all the information is obviously in the coversheet and docs I've sent, I still have to submit that... So, in brief, just be careful and make sure to prepare everything. Maybe IR5 is more tedious than IR1 etc. God bless you!

Why is it showing my wifes unmarried name on the payment portal? :help:
Should I WORRY?

Maybe not, they're just collecting fees under a case. But call NVC to make sure.

We're sooo close to getting a case # (I've been told twice in last 2 days that we'll probably get case # in next 4 to 5 days). I am now concerned that this bad weather will delay things further. uurghh!!

I just wonder if they can work at home. At least they can process email, right? Or they can only get access to the emails or docs inside the government building? I pray that tomorrow it won't be too bad to close, and so for Friday!

Sorry to ask a question that might have been answered already...

How long does it take from NVC/IIN numbers assignement to the actual invoices to be ready?

Thank you!

For AOS bill, it was really quick for me, maybe just next day. For IV bill, it will be invoice after DS-3032 has been accepted.

Same time frames for checklists as the original packages ;)

Thanks for reply, now I know I have to face the time frame, hehe
Oh, have you ever thought about taking NVC as your second job? :D

PS: for the IV package, I totally submitted 14 docs. I feel somethings really redundant or kinda stupid(just to give myself an excuse for missing something)

Currently, 5-7 business days.

Ugh, just got off the phone with Abigail at NVC. She kept interrupting me as I was asking my question. I KNOW that you tell everyone that NVC has up to 20 days to review my IV file. THAT'S NOT THE QUESTION I'M TRYING TO ASK!!!! The packet only got there on March 1, I'm not expecting that it's been reviewed yet. What I want to know is, IF somebody picks up my IV packet and looks at it, am I going to be penalized, since our IV fee is still showing as "in process", even though we paid it on the 26th and the money came out the next day. Apparently, they'll still review it, as we were able to print out the barcoded sheet. But damnation, somebody needs to get on the ball over there in the financial department. :ranting:

Sometimes I think these NVC agents don't have answer, their knowledge and experience are limited, so they just give what they know as an answer. I was frustrated by them also.

NVC received both my IV and AOS packets last Monday (Feb 25), but I've been out of town and haven't gotten a chance to call yet. I think I'll wait until the 10 day mark (Thursday) to see if I can get lucky with a case complete on my first call! Fingers crossed! Being patient sure is hard. :clock:

Once the case is entered into the system, it takes only 3-5 days to process. Mine took 4 days to review. Unfortunately I was required extra docs which doesn't really make sense. It's worth calling earlier since if there's something missing they'll let you know earlier. I called and they told me they were waiting for 2 more things later the check letter came.

If they're only asking for 2 documents, then you just need to send those 2. No need to send the entire package again.

Thank you Saylin! I got a checklist letter. The email says do not reply to it. I think I have to send NVC a new email, wonder what should be in the subject line. Can I say: RFE of Immigration Visa Application for GZOxxxxxxxx? Or something else for speed it up? Thanks! really appreciate that!

I'm doing EP. Today the NVC agent told me that they're still waiting for my 2 missing docs (which I believe is quite redundant, however have to follow their command). I wonder if I can just send the 2 docs alone via email or have to put them into the whole IV packet and send the whole packet again. The agent didn't give a clear answer. Anyone have that answer or any experience? I'd greatly appreciate that!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAbout I-751

Dear Friends, I want to ask question about I-751, When we apply for 10 year green card we fill I-751 and I saw on the form its asking about criminal history, Do this mean that "Have you ever been arrested or convicted during period of your conditional resident ?" or does it include all previous criminal history of the applicant? Because I have a criminal record and It was in 2001. Should I check the box "yes" or "no"? If someone give some ideas would be so usefull.

Thanks

If I were you, I would check "yes" and explain honestly  . Also, if you ever applied for AOS, there's a similar question there.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionfinally!

I am only wondering when they cash our check because I hear that they put a number on the back of the check and I can use that number to register and get updates as to when they do an update on our paper work or when we are approved. Believe me it was hard saving up that money with all the sales that were going on so I am not happy about giving money away, but I look at it as an investment into our future. No matter how many shoe sales I miss

You are right. I sent mine on April 17th, they received it on the 19th, and my check was cashed on the 20th(But it showed up on my bank account online on the 23rd). It has the case #, but I think it's not in their Case Status Search system yet. I am getting error:

- Case Status Retrieval Failed
- This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283.

It is almost a month for me at Vermont and I am still waiting for them to cash my check.

Nebraska was fast in cashing my check, no NOA1 yet though. At the end, it'll probably take about the same amount of time (about 6 - 8 months) to get the 10-year card. So, don't sweat it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751

My wife (USC) and I filed our I-751 in October last year (at the Texas Service Center, we are in Houston) As I posted a few weeks ago, about a month ago we rec'd an RFE. We are in the process of putting all the ####### together AGAIN, but I am feeling that no matter what I send them, we are going to get called for an interview regardless. 2 things: does anyone/everyone agree with that assumption and 2) Does anybody know of anyone who has actually been denied and/or deported at this final hurdle?

Thanks.

D.

Doyle,
What exactly did they ask in the RFE? Very curious.

Just an FYI, I received my NOA1 today.

The interesting thing is the Application Number (LINxxxxxxxxxx) they wrote at the back of my check is different than the actual one on the NOA1. No wonder that number always returned as INVALID when I searched from the Online Case Status Search website. This time I can add the Application Number in my portfolio w/o any problem.
