Middle East and North AfricaAOS & EAD

Nebraska was the wrong place to send it to, therefore they sent it to Lee Summit for you. Transfer to CSC is typically a good thing. Check out the AOS forum, there is usually 3 or so threads about this topic going at any one time. It can mean approval without an interview among other things.

your EAD is still processing as normal as none of them get transfered to CSC, they just process via local office.

thank you for response... (F) I will go to the other threads and see what is going on...

Middle East and North Africareligious Question?

The general direction of the qibla in north america is north east. To find specifics on your location, go to Islamic Finder, put your zip code in, and find the link for monthly prayer times. After you click on it, you should find a compass on the left side of the page pointing the direction of prayer.

For more specific calculations, you can get a qibla compass. I have 2:

An electronic one - You select your location, and it will give you the direction of prayer and the prayer times for the day

A plastic one - it will come with a piece of paper with a number assigned for major world cities. You position the compass and it will point the direction to prayer.

If you're going up to Dearborn soon, I'm sure shops there will have some readily available.

thanks for the website... I just ordered from there...

Middle East and North Africaabnormal and gross

Age difference relationships weren't being compared to interracial and interfaith marriages. It was what could be said about them that was being compared. Why is it deemed acceptable to say someone's age difference relationship is gross and abnormal (in general, not as one's own preference), but to say the same thing about an interracial or interreligious relationship is despicable? For some reason, I could not get a civil and comprehendable answer to this question for all the hostility aimmed at me for asking.

All are personal choices and to defend smearing one while the other two are off limits is a double standard.

There is no reason why age difference women here should be subjected to insults under the guise of "personal preference" any more than racially diverse or religiously diverse couples should be. Calling one of you in such a marriage gross and abnormal would be deemed hostile, as it should be.

Why isn't that so for us who are merely much older than our husbands? Why aren't our choices respected as are yours? Why should we feel safe coming here knowing that people are holding their noses when we discuss our marriages? Older men don't take this ####### as much as do older women, and here, we have to take it from other women!

You still don't get it? Not my problem.

I think you have missed something. I never insulted anyone for being involved with a younger man. I wouldn't do it, I think it's gross. If I did it it would be against the law. I can't imagine myself marrying someone 20 years younger than myself even when I am 50. That's my opinion that I have the right to say it. Those are not insults but obviously you are very sensitive about marrying someone 20 years younger than yourself.

Sarah if you were 50 and married a man 20 years younger.... how cool is that... damn you'll be pimpin then

the current discussion prompted this - yes or no answers!

Question... is this pole words from a 4 year old? hint-"gross".... or adult? hint-"abnormal" because I don't know a 4 year old that uses the word "abnormal" or an adult that uses the word "adnormal" also use the word "gross"

:D

I think you can be racist and not have any effect (because you're a nobody) but you're still a racist.

Precisely -- however it appears that some forms of racism are more acceptable than others
(as evidenced by the racist BET channel, which spews racist programming and rap music
24 hours a day.)

so I guess there are not any african-americans at your pub either...

wooooooooooooooooow, i cant belive i can find this, its places next to my home with 10 miles, woooooooow, i thank u sooo much for ur help, am gona start calling, maybe i late my marrige couple more days!

Definately do not do that! If you do, it complicates things and adds to the forms you have to file for adjustment of status. If you're getting close to 90 days after you've entered the US, get married ASAP, and then plan a nikkah when you have time.

I think he has only been here 1 week if I am not mistaken.

Ah, well, in that case, carry on,

Ok first of all not being for gays getting married and not for women getting abortions doesnt make me not tolerable. I am considering converting to islam and have been talking to people at the mosque about the prophet and his teaching and the laws in Islam. There are a few in this forum that talk about Islam all the time and make postings about Islam but will vote for someone who obviously goes against the teachings of Islam.
Rahma i can guarantee if I went to the mosque and talked to the Imam and asked him is it wrong ffor me to feel the way i feel, he would say no.
Also the fight isnt for minorities. It is to do what God tells us to do. God said marriage is for a man and a woman. God says it is wrong to kill.
I would like to know why I am called intolerant because I view it this way.

Are there any religions that say homosexuality or aborition is right or acceptable? It's against Christianity too, but there are plenty people that are prochoice and support gay marriage. Do you think that just because someone is Muslim that they follow every single teaching and rule?

JP I fully agree with you on that. I as a Christian do not support it. What I am saying is that Rahma posts threads about Islam and is an obvious muslim in which she presetns to people that she lives her life as one so what I am asking is how can you openly support gay marriage and abortion? If you are religious you are suppossed to follow it. That is all I am saying. I dont support those things because I have been taught that God doesnt allow those things. That is my point. I am sure alot of Imams and muslim scholars would find it insulting that there are muslims openly supporting these things. If they ask thier husband if these things are accepted in thier countries I am sure they know what the answer is. I know in Algeria it isnt accepted. I guess thier husbands must be intolerable too......

Shannon please think about what you are saying. Is there any congressman or senator that you fully support? Just because Rahma posts about Islam doesn't mean she is the poster child for Islam. Islam may not agree with abortion and gay marriage but it does teach tolerence. If you are religious you are not supposed to have pre-marital sex either. You are not supposed to lie. There are many things you are not supposed to do by the standards of religion but no one here claims to perfect.

Why does it matter if their husbands accept it? Some people actually have a mind of their own and don't form their opinions based on what their husbands think. I do agree with you that the religions are against these things, but let God be the judge of that. You are in no place to tell people how to worship or what to believe.

another great point .....I wonder if she (shannon) will ever get that ;)

If you're ever interested in chatting with someone who's been there, done that, feel free to look me up  I have lots of good internet resources and books to recommend.

There are a few in this forum that talk about Islam all the time and make postings about Islam but will vote for someone who obviously goes against the teachings of Islam.

I would guess that would be me. I have consistantly voted democrat since I gained the privilege of voting at age 18. As a minority in a non muslim society, there will never ever ever be a candidate with whom I agree with 100%. So, I write out what is important to me, as a muslim and as an american, and I find candidates that fulfil more of what I want. And, 99 times out of 100, the candidate is a democrat.

Muslims threw their support behind the republicans in 2000 because Bush took 5 minutes to talk with some muslim leaders about the use of secret evidence. What have republicans done for american muslims? Not much. So, as a community, we're continuing to evolve and mature in our political activities and realize that you have to be sophisticated in your political choices, that no one party will represent everything you want, and sometimes you have to coalition with people whom you might not morally agree with. That's life.

Rahma i can guarantee if I went to the mosque and talked to the Imam and asked him is it wrong ffor me to feel the way i feel, he would say no.

That's funny, cuz there were a number of Imams and muslim community activists who threw their support behind Brother Keith, knowing full well what his policy positions were. Certainly there will be those who disagree, but that's up to the individual.

Also the fight isnt for minorities. It is to do what God tells us to do. God said marriage is for a man and a woman. God says it is wrong to kill.
I would like to know why I am called intolerant because I view it this way.

Fiqh of minorities not fighting of minorities. The fiqh of minorities is how we apply sharia when we are living in a non muslim land. It ain't like sharia in a muslim majority country. We apply sharia in our own life and don't rely on the government to tell us what we can and cannot do. Our goal is to enjoin good and forbid evil. So, as muslims in a non muslim land, we determine what is good and what is not. Then, we see how best we achieve as much good as possible.

I don't know if people call you intolerant because of your views, but rather how you articulate your views. The Qur'an asks us to convey the message in a good manner. That extends to our conversations in everday life as well.
