K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIn between Noa-1 and noa-2 (K1), how soon is too soon...

Forgive me if I missed it, I don't believe I saw an answer to the tax transcript question from the OP. Below is the link, the tax transcripts are free. I called the 1-800 number just selected that I wanted to receive my 1040, then it asked for what tax year. Then it asked if I needed to make another request, I did the same 3 times for the 3 years. You would want them for yourself and cosponsors. It took about a week only to receive them..

http://www.irs.gov/i...=110571,00.html

Excellent, thank you very much. So the 1040, that is the "tax transcripts" that I need then? Just double checking! Thanks again. I guess I can get these at any point after we have this years taxes finished, since they wont change between now and summer.

No don't worry, this is not true. K-1 visas are also processed through Vancouver. No worries!

Good luck

Good, good, I didn't think that was the case, since I read the Canada board, and K1's have been in Vancouver! Thanks for the verification.

All K-1s are processed through Montreal - sorry :(

?? Are you sure about this? I have heard nothing but Vancouver from the Canada board. I have never seen anywhere that K-1s are only in Montreal, do you happen to have a link to this info?

Okay gotcha! Thank you guys. That last link really threw me, as I hadn't seen anything in the guides that was even close to any of that. I don't want to worry about AOS stuff until my fiance is actually HERE, visa part over.

Sundrop, my fiance is Canadian, and he's on the Vancouver side.

I am honestly trying to go by the guides... I have read them, over and over! Just trying to make sure I don't make any stupid mistakes, and that I can be of as much help as possible to my fiance when it becomes his turn for the stress (medical, interview, whatever paperwork he has...).

Oooh one last question. It says to send your fiance a copy of the I-129 packet, and all of the originals. Well we put the packet together during his last visit. I sent him home with a copy of the packet, and everything in it is the originals (except like, where copies are allowed such as birth certificate). But he has all original signatures (not copies), a real divorce decree (direct from courthouse, not a copy), etc. Is this enough or do I need to send him another copy of everything? Or am I misunderstanding somewhere along the lines about "send all originals" ...

Thanks again!

Thanks for your reply. A little confused... isn't that guide for CR1-IR1 visas? Does it also apply to the K1?
Do we start to worry about AOS before he even has the visa? I'm even more lost now. Apologies if these questions are stupid. >.< I'm trying my best to understand...

Is this police check something all countries do? Do they give instructions (canadian fiance)? I (the american petitioner) don't need to do it though?

Still confused about which tax documents to send, in my particular case. Just the W-2s? I've been reading about ordering something from the IRS, but that confuses me, and I'm not sure if it applies in my very very simple case?

My mother does make enough for the 3 of us. And I know that I have to do all the paperwork myself as well.

No blank lines on the affidavit of support... so is it suggested to put "N/A" on the line, or "none" or like, I have a savings account, with mm, $10usd lol. I really would rather not mark that down!

This worries me, it was just from reading the boards last night that I thought huh, I wonder if this police thing is important. I wonder what else I'm missing. >.>

Am I correct in thinking, as soon as I have the NOA-2, and the paperwork finished, everything gathered, I can send it off to my fiance right away? Or am I waiting on anything else?

I understand that I am just at the start of this. But I just want to understand everything I can, the next steps, as well as possible, as soon as possible, I feel like we will have better success.

Thanks very much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIn between Noa-1 and noa-2 (K1), how soon is too soon...
I received my NOA-1 mid January. Guessing from the timeline to expect the NOA-2 earlyish April.

How soon is too soon to fill out the affidavit of support and get the letter from employer and such? I would love to have the items going to my fiance ready to send once the NOA-2 is here, if that is reasonable. Would March be reasonable? Or do they want dates after the NOA-2 is sent?

I've read in a couple threads about a police check... is that something i need to worry about? Neither my fiance nor I have ever been in any sort of legal trouble what so ever. I didn't see anything in the guides I don't think? But maybe I missed it.

My mother is going to be my co-sponsor. She has filed her taxes either through H&R Block, or just efile software. I've gone to H&R Block with my ex husband the past several years. I'm kind of confused as to exactly what tax papers we need. Our taxes are basic, just the one W2, she owns a home, we both own a car, thats about the end of it. I make very little money, but she clears the income by salary alone by a few thousand. All we have is her salary... no property or savings or stocks or any of those things, but I have been told here that blank lines on the form are okay... so I will go with that.

Also, I was looking at the K1 flowchart, it mentions calling the NVC and the embassy to check on things... is that a necessary step?

I've understood things up to the post NOA-2 area... now it's getting hazy. I hope my fiance and I can get through this without messing it all up. >.< Stressing out tonight.

Thanks for any help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary 2010 K-1 Filers

Ok January filers!! My girl will be here Friday night POE at LAX. I'm excited and frickin nervous as hell. I haven't lived with another person for a while and I "think" my man cave is clean.. At least when I came home from work today, I had to take a double look to make sure I was in the right home...

Wilma arrives at 8pm Friday night, and by order of her very religious parents, we will be married on Saturday morning at 10am. That's right.... she won't even be in USA for 12 hrs before getting married. We originally planned on a July wedding....but because of parents...religion ....living in sin..yada yada yada... we're getting married sooner than later. We will have a quiet little ceremony here at a chapel in San Diego, nothing special but we'll have pics to share. :)

I am just one day behind you. My fiance will be here Saturday night. I'm totally freaked and for me too, it's been a long time since living with someone! We have a July wedding planned as well, but no parental objections to it lol.

Best of luck on your wedding day, and I hope you guys share a lifetime of happiness!

You know, at the medical, I guess a couple came up to him and asked if he was garnet80's fiance. This just blew my mind since I am the one that posts... that someone remembered our pictures so well and even my user name, wow. I asked, didn't that surprise you? And he was like, no... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport scanning issues, and a couple other I-129f ?'s
I was going to make copies of my finace's passport stamps to send in with our I-129f.

He has visited me in the USA from Canada twice. Once in August 2009 for 5 weeks, and once now, was supposed to be a 3 month stay, but they put a "no eos/no cos" restriction on it and he is now only allowed to stay a month. Anyway, on top of the page with the two stamps from these trips, they stapled a paper on top, and they stapled it like, near the center of the passport page. I don't think folding the paper they stapled on seems wise... but I don't know how to scan it with that so totally in the way. Both trips stamps are on this page under this paper about the limitation of his stay.

Also, is it important to put the boarding passes from BOTH trips, or is just the first trip enough? I have already made copies of the first trips passes, but he seems to be missing one pass from this current trip. >.<

Finally, I thought I saw the answer to this somewhere, but I am not finding it right now... do I just send this in a regular document envelope? Should it be fastened? I read the guide for the K1... maybe I am just missing the answer somewhere.

Thank you for any advice. We are just about finished getting the packet as ready as it can be. smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuick I-129f question
I was wondering, in the column about my foreign fiance (he is Canadian, wanting to move to the USA), is it okay to leave #8 and 9 empty? He obviously doesn't have a United States Social Security number, and as far as we know nothing of an A#...

Also, on number 18, my answer was "My fiance flew from his home in Canada to visit me in Kansas, USA on July 24th, 2009. He stayed with me at my home for five weeks. This was our first meeting in person." Is that an acceptable answer?

Thanks very much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetters confirming relationship to send in with first K1 packet
Hello, my mother and uncle have agreed to write or sign letters that verify my fiance and I are in a genuine relationship, and have them notarized. Maybe I'm being stupid, but if my fiance signs them at the same time my mom and uncle do, this will help prove he was actually here and we met, right?
Also, should these letters be formal? Or casual? If they need to be formal, is there a general structure to use? Don't want to mess this up when, at least in my mind, it seems like a good thing to add.

I don't love the idea of sending in emails. :/ Is it inadvisable to skip this? Right now for proof of meeting and ongoing relationship are:
several pictures, taken over two trips, most of us, a couple with us and my mom, us at my work with my boss, and us with my uncle.
scanned passport stamps
scanned boarding passes
printed itinerary
printed copy of the receipt of the shuttle service which drove him to the airport to my home
soon the notarized relationship confirmation letters?
I might be forgetting things...

We don't talk on the phone, ever. We just use google chat video. We don't have landlines, and can't really swing the crazy cell bills. We do email a lot... but I don't know, if I can skip sending those, I will.
I could scan exchanged greeting cards and what we've written? And the stamp/postmark too.

Thanks! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129 sent usps express mail Friday... now wondering...
I sent the I-129 packet to the California service center P.O. Box, via USPS Express mail, requiring a signature. It got there Saturday, and of course wasn't signed for, the tracking said a notice was left. So far, nothing has been updated.
Did I mess up? Will it just be ignored for five days until it is returned to me? The post office lady said they would retry delivery on Monday (today), both of us knowing Saturday wasn't going to be a day anyone would be there, but in the past when that happens the tracking is always updated very quickly. Its nearly 9pm (7pm in CA), so I'm just wondering if I screwed up. Ack.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI sent my K1 app the same day my divorce was finalized... now stuck!
Thanks everyone. Great advice. I think I will give my fiance a personal timeline just so he knows for certain when things went down (he knows the whole story, but I don't know if dates are in his mind). I never intended to mail anything off... I was just wondering if it was a letter that should be in the packet of papers he takes to his interview. So not going to do that now, just stick with our EoR letter (which can't hurt), and make sure he is up to speed on what happened and when. Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI sent my K1 app the same day my divorce was finalized... now stuck!
Well, my fiance is 11 years younger than me (I am the female). I got engaged while I was still legally married. Sent the papers the day of the divorce. We only had two visits (5 and 4 weeks respectively). It just seems like we have a few red flags, and this couldn't hurt. I was reading other threads on the boards here that suggest you do write such a letter in this case (although it wasn't specifically aimed at USA/Canada). I figure anything I can do to help, is a good thing? Maybe I'm wrong... I just don't know.
