Waiting on the Packet 3 from Montreal is almost as nerve-wracking as the NOA2 smile.gif

I've sent her all my documents and she's got everything in order except her medical in Halifax and her passport photos (5 right?).
Here's to hoping it comes this week and she can send it back right away.

After the happiness has subsided, its kind of unsettling seeing the average wait till interview for K-1's at Montreal's embassy around 70+ days. 2 more months of waiting again sad.gif

Hope that average # of days has some unusually long cases in it or something....and thats why its so high. It'd be nice to have her here and getting settled by Thanksgiving dinner biggrin.gif

Hmm, did a little searching, but when making another letter of intent (as per the Guides page), I had the To: as the VSC address.

On the 2nd one, should I just omit that To: field or should I put the Montreal embassy or State Department? Just wondering.

I was also approved today. I was at work and generally don't check my e-mail, but I figured it was worth a shot. Saw "CRIS" or something in the From area and immediately perked up. Checked it and case status was approved biggrin.gif Looks like someone finally did their stack of paperwork at VSC. Congrats!

Whoever mentioned the fact that VJ likely represents a small minority of the true # of K-1/K-3 filers is spot on. I'm sure we represent maybe 1-5% of the total, maybe thats low but you get the idea. As I said before, its not that I'm upset in the slightest way, I just don't like being in the dark on issues that matter a lot to me. Many of us would like to know what our children do in school, what our wives or husbands do at work from time to time, or our bank accounts to make sure money is on the spot. Being "left out of the loop" with immigration is unsettling, but alas, we must continue to be patient.

The tone of this reply isn't anger, but just curiosity. Its strange that our case, like many others with no criminal backgrounds or unusual circumstances, end up taking longer than expected. I can only assume 1 of 100 things occurred, but who knows what exactly is going on. We all are so focused on this immigration due to its closeness to our hearts, but many other aspects of our daily lives take strange turns sometimes, in regards to companies or organizations. Sometimes, it ends up you don't get the tickets you wanted because someone was faster or you get shafted by getting a ticket as they guy next to you keeps on speeding. That might seem vauge, but I'm just saying that in certain situations, we don't take things against us as serious as this immigration. Guess what I am saying is I don't feel slighted, just wish it wasn't so "dark" while I'm waiting here to see my loved one.

By the way, this is Justin doing the posting, I put her first in our username because she is my #1 smile.gif

Does anyone regret the "rush" delivery that they might have included for mailing the packet? I sent mine via standard mail with a return receipt and seeing how the waiting process continues, I am glad I didn't rush it.

Yea it certainly is depressing. I'm hoping for this week being a "good news" week.

Just outta curiosity, once I pass my predicted adjudication window (which I know is only an assumption), is it "safe" to call USCIS to inquire about my case?

I am thinking that most of the March people have their NOA2, except for a few unlucky souls such as myself. Thats most likely where everyone has disappeared to smile.gif

Funny you should mention that Jessica, because thats my last touch as well and nothing since then either. Granted that could have been them moving our files from place to place, but who knows.

So, it seems as though we still have a small band of us in the waiting room with the anxious April filers begging to get in.

I read it like a month ago about some people not having their online case status page updated regarding events. Perhaps I misread it, but I though that some had issues.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that Danielle and Justin (me) is the only account I've ever created. No idea about the other one right before us.

I tend to stay focused on work, helps pass the time. I check the mail in hope of a notice, but I don't go running to get it either. I suppose the less I get my hopes up, the more surprised I will be once it arrives. I don't rely on the e-mail/online case status site due to some people saying various things such as they got NOA2 and their online status months later still shows Case received and pending.

Good luck to those still left and the upcoming filers in April. Congrats to the March approvals!

Got mine today as well. Actually got my Case ID # prior to today, after checking my bank account online and seeing the back of the scanned check smile.gif Not that it helps much, but was good to see that it was cashed with important information on the back. Good luck to us all waiting on the NOA2 from March filing.

The VSC must be handing out christmas bonuses early this year wink.gif

I got bored this morning and did a Google-map from the VSC to the NVC, and its only 232 mi, but takes 3-5 days to get there? I could drive that in an afternoon if I tried.
I'm not writing that as a complaint, just a mystery. Here's the link St. Albans, VT to Portsmouth, NH

So the consulate in Halifax doesn't accept K-1 interviews? The website wasn't clear on the specifics or perhaps I just wasn't looking in the right spot.

Understandable that we shouldn't "plan" but we are anticipating sometime near the end of the year, the sooner the better obviously, but we aren't setting anything in stone by any means smile.gif

I have been reading this site for around a month now and just got around to registering. Most of my questions
have been answered through research on this and other sites. However, a few still remain.

*If we are planning to get married by October, starting now is still feasible correct?
-No criminal backgrounds
-Plenty of evidence (pictures, engagement ring receipt, saved all our flight itineraries, etc)
-Financially able to support her
-In our early 20's, so legal to marry as well

I'm putting together the packet based on the Guides page, that information is up to date right? Also, there is no rushing available on this Visa, only certain work visas? In regards to her going for her interview, it doesn't have to be the U.S. Embassy in Canada, it can be a consulate too right?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting while waiting?
I agree...even though I have yet to begin the K-1 process, the barrage of questions I receive is never fun.

I think the fact that I am a graduate of college just starting working again and visiting my fiancee in Halifax
where she works full time raises their eyebrows. The Canadian customs seem to be more concerned with me
entering due to the # of questions they ask and the tone in which they ask. The U.S. customs guy in the Halifax
airport just asks a simple "canned" set of questions and lets me go on my way. I can only imagine the difficulty
once I start this process soon.

Yeah, I would sign what you can if possible. I regret not having my fiance sign her copies of her passport pages. Hope that doesn't come back to bite me. As with this question and any others in the future, think from their point of view and try to make everything as identifiable as possible, so there is little room for guessing what goes where. Do that and you will be fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F question
If you are typing the form, I would simply suggest making a blank document with your name at the top and title it Supplement I-129F Question 2 & 15
and then writing in the fields on the form to See Attachment. Just make sure the supplement page has some sort of info to trace it back to your case in
the event it gets dropped or misplaced or lost temporarily.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 form...kinda confused here!
Welcome aboard!

I-134 is kind of a mini I-864 and is sent in later on. It doesn't belong with the I-129F packet. Generally, the same info is needed for either form, so starting now by getting together pay stubs, tax returns, etc certainly isn't a bad idea if you have the free time.

*Posted at the same lol, ^^ what he said too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp with NOA1
Figures they would cash the check first wink.gif

I recall reading a post last month that someone assumed the process would be:

- Mail room receives packet and removes check
- General office staff open and sort document
- Collects dust
- Collects some more
- Adjudicator starts looking at it
- Etc

Keep in mind there is no way to prove any of that, but it does seem plausible.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A- fiance signature?
I had to have her sign hers as we didn't get to filling out the forms until we both were back home separately. It only took hers 4 days to get here and she sign doubles just in case I spilled something or lost one. Its worth doing it right, even if it takes just a little bit longer. This process is not something you want to "cut corners" on, because if it ever were to come back to you, I'd imagine the wait would be much longer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to go through customs at JFK if coming from Canada?
Believe me, if you venture over to the EAD forums, they are JUST as confused lol. Its not that anyone is lying or giving out false information to readers, but rather two different sources are stating information on the same topic that doesn't really mesh well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the IRS or USCIS isn't going to come hunt you down when your temp approval for working expires. From reading other posts, it seems as though its up to the employer to actively terminate you based on your lack of approved work status. If they don't care and you are feeling lucky/risky, you may continue working. Furthermore, it seems that I have read elsewhere on here that when you receive or finish the AOS process, certain things are forgiven or ?

Like I said before, I find it hard to believe they expect an immigrant to come in and just wait around for employment authorization. Wouldn't it make more sense to have these newly immigrated folks working to make uncle sam more $$$ and so on, rather than sitting around and mooching off another taxpayer's income? Maybe thats a little over the top, but babysitting or temporary caregiving to an elderly person is hardly a crime in my opinion and its doing someone a favor. To receive cash for that and then be in trouble with the law is asinine to me.
