CanadaWhen you tell people you are from Canada
I agree that, in general, Canadians seem more accepting of other cultures and things compared to us. Just a friendly attitude in general.

I think that most people also assume, along with the whole simple immigration idea, that marrying someone automatically grants them citizenship. I get that one a LOT.
Sometimes I try to explain the process, but usually they don't want to hear it, so I end up simplifying it down into a few steps.

While I guess you have to be light-hearted to take them, the "eh" jokes or comments get real old after awhile...and I'm the American.

Whether or not it bothers her, I don't see many Canadians making a lot of similar comments towards Americans when visiting Canada. I'm not bitter, I just
think that some people here (America, not Visajourney) need to be a little more mature or less closed-minded.

^^ You would think that more people would at least know this ^^

You could throw a rock from that tip of NS to Maine if you got any closer biggrin.gif

Same here Carla.

Most people know where Maine is, so I tell them its right near that.

If they don't know there, then I tell them its a 90 minute flight in a NorthEast direction from Boston.

The one she gets most often is "Oh, where is that?"

Being that she is from Halifax, Nova Scotia...she has even got the response "That's in Europe right?" I guess that since its a
maritime province and being on the far eastern seaboard puts it out of people's minds.

Maybe she was PMS'ing? That is unfortunate she did something like that.

Seems that when people's hopes are slowing declining, they bring good news. So here is to hoping for an interview date!

Our plan is for her to head to Montreal Thursday mid-day and get to the interview Friday morning. She'll come back Monday (cheaper) and then
I fly up on the 25th and help her pack and we fly back together to sunny south florida.

Its almost 20F difference in temperature these last few days between West Palm Beach and Halifax. Wonder what that'll be like on her health.

Her's is morning as well, she's planning on arriving to the consulate around 7:00am I believe.

I guess asking couldn't hurt and maybe they'll get it finished and mailed out Friday before closing
time so that its at least "in the works" and not sitting in the Montreal consulate all weekend.

Hey Pandora, Danielle's interview is on Friday as well. Go figure smile.gif

I'm anxious that our travel plans have us leaving the 28th, so I'm hoping that CanadaPost doesn't muck things up and just sends the
envelope right away. That's assuming the consulate Montreal doesn't muck up things either. I suppose we could express it couldn't we?

Luckily she has family to stay with about 3km from the consulate.

Different interview day, October 17th, but still close to yours smile.gif

Good luck!

Well in theory, you could base your wedding date on your interview date. Granted the approval rate is not 100%, but
I think its a safe bet that you can plan around it. That's what we are doing, ONCE we get our date smile.gif

PhilippinesAirline Ticket purchase
Not like it matters, but just in case anyone wanted to see what the costs were:

5,303 PHP = 128.08 USD
and
7,400 PHP = 178.73 USD

Source: XE Universal Currency Converter

I would suggest going the cheaper route if its legal and doable. I was going to buy a ticket from Palm Beach, FL to Halifax, NS and by waiting overnight, the price jumped $60 in the 8 hours I was asleep. Just goes to show the airline industry prices are always fluid and I would get the best deal you can and go for it!

Thats the kind of interview I would like to see happen when my fiancee's time comes.

It seemed from your description that it was straight-forward, very "to the point" type of questioning, and no surprises.

I'm glad to see it went well for you!

Is this similar or identical in any way to a background check performed by employers? I don't have anything to hide, I'm just wondering if its to verify data provided on the petition and that you aren't a serial killer or wanted by the FBI as a fugitive.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhere is the "black hole" between CSC and NVC???
Yeah that is more likely the case...if both offices were managed identically with no differences in procedure or quality of work, then I would assume things would be smoother. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I wonder if the NVC suffers from the same difference in management, since there isn't multiple locations of that office...just the one and only location.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhere is the "black hole" between CSC and NVC???
You are probably spot on with the pallet or "load" theory. I would imagine for such a distance, that ___ boxes need to be full or almost full before they consider shipping them cross country.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhere is the "black hole" between CSC and NVC???
I wonder if distance has anything to do with the time, which I imagine it would to some small extent.

The distance from the VSC to the NVC is around 200~ miles, which is a couple hours tops.

The distance from the CSC to the NVC is around 3000~ miles, which is quite a trek, either by plane or truck.

If you want to test them out, try maps.google.com and use Portsmouth, NH as the END and Laguna Niquel, CA or Saint Albans, VT as the BEGIN...quite the difference I must say!

I understand that and I hope I didn't come across too blunt, but those questions are easily/quickly answered by those who post them.

I did nothing special or different than most posters could do, thats my only point.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportshow long befor the ambassy in bogota recieves?
It still amazes me with the wealth of knowledge available on this site that questions such as these get asked.

While I can't provide an accurate answer, using the SEARCH at the top of the page for: Bogota Colombia Received
yield people's replies with 3 days generally speaking. Please try to use the tools available to you, as well as regional forums too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWho got touched 3/10 and hasn´t been approved yet at VSC?
Maybe its just me, but of all the useful and valid "data" to include in one's signature timeline...the excessive # of touches people feel the need to include is just a LIL over the top I think. I've had a grand total of 1 touch and that was 1 month after I got my NOA1 and almost 2 months ago today.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSome VSC K1 information FYI
Sorry, that was more of a rhetorical or generalized question. Probably should have just left it out of my post. Agreed though, this is a place for help and understanding things. Being hostile is the last thing anyone should be thinking because no one wants to help a rude individual. Some have waited months and months for this process while others have married in the time some people have waited just for a NOA1. Where one lives, what service they served in, etc doesn't make any one of us more important or less important than the next couple.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSome VSC K1 information FYI
What does spilling blood have to do with the OP's statement or this thread in general?

I'm content to keep waiting because I knew this process would take awhile. I just passed my 90 day mark and I'm not fuming or upset about it. If I still haven't heard a peep in a week or two, then I might phone the USCIS and inquire as to whats going on. Why all the hostility among us?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNot sure if I was "touched"?
I don't have much faith in the online system. Some seem to receive numerous "touches" while others get 1 or 0 throughout their waiting period. Its nice to be able to check, but I wouldn't hinge hopes upon it unless you are sure of its information.

Well the packet said something along the lines of 4 months till an interview date, but I hope that was well exaggerated.
The Montreal page here on VJ says roughly 1-2 months between Montreal receiving the P3 and the notice. If she has one
in mid to late October, I think we will both be happy. She's hoping to be here for our Thanksgiving smile.gif

Not that its a long time, but 2 weeks went by and no Packet 3. However, this is because after emailing Montreal...the packet had been sent out
almost 2.5 weeks ago. So, they are sending another one out today. That bugs me that we could have been waiting those 2 weeks on the interview
list, not this way.
