Thank you everyone for the information!! I've passed it on to my fiance and he's going to locate a service in Den Haag to do his! kicking.gif

Yes, it's me again...hehe...

This question comes from my fiance though.... luv.gif

Do the copies of the birth certificate and divorce paperwork that are filed with the I129F need to be in english? If so, does anyone know if the embassy in his country would translate them into english for us?

Thanks again!

Her flight out of LA has been delayed 1.5 hours so far... due to "Storms in Chicago".
I'm in Chicago, and we have had NO STORMS.
This is the second time that US domestic flights have been a severe aggravation.

At least she is in the country...

OMG....that's just horrible though!! I hope she's not delayed much longer, I know you must be anxious to see her! I know I was when Pat came here this summer...LOL!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1/K-3 Netherlands to US
Hello everyone! I'm still reading through this site and all the guides and paperwork but just wanted to say that after reading your replies and timelines I'm feeling much better about the whole process. I love the idea that it's only taking around 6-7 months from start to finish!!

My fiance and I met online in March 2007. I'm currently in Texas while he's still in The Hague trying to get things cleared up financially on his end so we can start our K-1 process. We are planning to do it all on our own and we don't have the finances to hire a lawyer. Once we get started, I'll add a timeline... biggrin.gif

If anyone has any suggestions, we are more than willing to take them!! wink.gif

Lots of luck to you all!! heart.gif

If its only for the case number...that will be on your NOA1 that you'll get in the mail. On the back of the check is the same number printed...so you can just go by your NOA1

Good luck! Have a nice time when he's coming over!! good.gif

Thanks Jeanine!! I didn't know that number was on the NOA1 as well!!!

Make sure the memo field says "your name, petitioner, his name, beneficiary".

My fiance will be arriving tomorrow for a visit and we are going to mail our K1 application while he's here. I've read on VJ that the best way to pay is with a check. I don't have checks with my bank account and wondered if I had my parents write a check for me from their account, would that be a problem?

I know I can pay by money order but I wanted to try to do it by check so that I can get our case number.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I know I'm going to need these for the visa interview and I'm absolutely terrified we're going to be denied without them. Is there anyway they can make it to the consulate? I don't have any more, I have all the copies in the world of them though. At some point I just forgot to switch the copies with the original after making the copies.

Someone help sad.gif

Haley....I would think that your stamps in your passport would be just as good. They have the time, date and country stamp on them so they can tell you've been to visit.

P.S. There is a thread for Dutch-American couples here, but as far as the process is concerned, it is the same for all countries, only that some countries are subjected to more scrutiny and hassle than others. Since you are from a low-fraud country, you will not be subject to those (which doesn't mean there can be no hang-ups).

Ok..I'm blind..LOL! Didn't even see this until after I posted.....sorry Philosykos and thanks for letting him know about the thread!! good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould we get a lawyer?

We all know lawyers are expensive, but I am worried that me or my gf will make a mistake and as such be denied the k-1 visa.

So my question is, how complicated is the process to apply for a K-1 visa? Is it something we can do
ourselves without too much trouble, or would it be advisable to hire a lawyer?

Any help will be sincerely appreciates

Hi Roy,

Speaking only from the experience my husband and I have had so far in this journey, it is something that can easily be done yourself. Just like the others have said, if you read the guides, read the instructions and follow it all very carefully you can do it without much trouble.

My husband is also Dutch so we have experienced how things go as far as the medical exam and the interview at the consulate in Amsterdam so if you have any specific questions about that, please feel free to PM me and we'll help in any way that we can.

And last but not least, I hope you'll consider dropping by the Dutch/American couples thread..there are a lot of wonderful couples there and we are all more than willing to help you!!

Good luck on your journey!!

Liz

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG325a employment question

My fiance and I are filling out the G 325a. We have some questions about the past employment and adresses questions.

I have had the same employment since the summer of 2008, as bar manager of a country club which is closed in the winter for obvious reasons. At which time i find another job for the winter months. how would i state this on the form?
In example would i state it like this:

Country Club job : april 08-present
Other job A : sept 09-present
Job: B : sept 08- sept 09
Country club job : april 08 - present ?????
Job: C : sept 07 - april 08

Do I put the Country Club job only at the top one or also again down in the list?

In the past 5 years I have also been a full time student and therefore did not have a job. Do I put it down as 'Unemployed' or 'Unemployed/Student' or 'Unemployed' specify: 'Student'?

I decided to put the sheet as an attachment as not everything fits, so should I otherwise write a brief explanation (2-3 sentences) about my job situation or is this not appreciated?

Furthermore, on the attached sheet I typed: ATTACHMENT QUESTION: APPLICANT'S RESIDENCE LAST FIVE YEARS. Then I made a table where all the adresses fit (+ a possible explanation of 2-3 sentences) and under that I wrote a line with my full name, a signature line and the date.

What do you guys think? Thanks for all your help.

- Jake

Hi Jake, welcome to VJ!

I see your fiance is from the Netherlands.....so is my husband! I think that you could just put the Country club job once and then list the other jobs under that. I'm sure they have had people before who work two jobs and will understand that. As for the extra sheet, it sounds like you have it set up very nicely....I would say it should work the way you explained it.

If you have any more questions, please ask...and if you would like to join us there is a Dutch/American couples thread down in Regional Forums!

ETA: here is a link to that thread if your interested!

LOL...I don't think I said anything before now. I started having trouble with my sewer lines on Sunday...had the city out and they found it was in their portion of the line so they flushed them out. However, during the digging to find out for sure where the problem was, I found TWO sections of the pipes that had been broken by tree roots. Soooo...Sunday afternoon I dug all around them to make room to work and fix them and then Monday morning my Dad and I fixed them. I was so sore and bruised that I could hardly walk on Tuesday... laughing.gif

Maire - Haven't read the article either but I don't think it's true...I would lean more toward the idea like Derek of IQ being genetic but then I look at my daughter and I'm not sure how true that would be since both of her bioligical parents weren't that smart....could it be more a case of what they are exposed to as they grow up? For example...I have exposed Jessie to so many learning opportunites as she's grown up and now, she is a straight A student for the 2nd year in a row.

Iam currently doing another Masters..the consul really liked this since it also proves financial stability..

Way to go Maire!!! I see I 864 as Affidavit of Support and I - 134, that's why I am asking...

Liz, thanks!

I 864 I believe is to adjust status

I see, thanks!

Maire, what are you studying for?

Liz, did you send in any letters from your employer or just I134, w2 and pay stubs?

I was just about to add that..hehe! I did send a handwritten letter from my boss and also a print out of an employment/salary verification form that is automated in our personel system.

Morning Igor!

I know for my bank they said if I needed it, it would take them 7-10 days to get it back to me. I didn't use it though....my paystubs and W-2's are all that I sent with the Affidavit of Support.

Not sure anyone really cares but I'm gonna show you anyway..LOL!

My Jessie is now a toothless girl..lol! She pulled BOTH of her front teeth all by herself this week...one on Monday and one yesterday! She was happy to have them out in time for her birthday this next Monday..hehe!

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww cuterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......!!!!I cant wait until I have kids!

hehe..they are so much fun!

I'm a little scared at the thought of starting over with one at my age but Pat and I are going to try for a couple of years to have one. When my daughter was adopted, I was more than ready for a baby...my ex and I had been trying for years without success so she was..and still is...such a blessing!
