For CR-1 visas you will be sent a letter with a date and a time for the interview. According to the counsular officer with whom I spoke it would be good to arrive 1 - 2 days ahead of time so that the medical exam can be completed and the interviewee can have the medical results in hand for the interview at the consulate.

We initially received an email from the NVC with a pdf attachment of the request for interview letter from the consulate in Ciudad Juarez. Due to the pig flu scare our initial interview date was cancelled and I received a phone call from the consulate in Ciudad Juarez advising me of such and giving me a verbal confirmation of the new interview date in June. The actual letter confirming the consulate's phone call was sent to my address here in the US.

Thanks for you answer, I didn't ask the question but I'm in the same process, I'm waiting for the NVC to review my papers and hopefully no RFE's and give us a date for the interview.

Could you please tell us about your interview when you are done with it? It would really help me to feel informed thanks

This might be kinda of a dumb question, but hey someone must ask it.
Do have to wait until the exact date of the interview to go to ciudad juarez. From what I understood is no. The type of visa we're going with is the I-130 (CR-1).

I know that for a k-1 visa you don't have to wait but for a k-3 visa (Spouse/Husband) I had the impretion that you did have to wait. That's why the give you a specific date. For a k-1 visa we are told we have an open date meaning we can go when we are ready in a lapse of 4 months.

Thats good i would like to know also, sence i see there is walk in for k1 what about spouse visas lol im doing the spouse visa and its seems like im the only 1 lol sad.gif

I'm doing the cr-1 and it does feel like no one else from Mexico is doing it too, I just sent the last papers to NVC and I'm hoping for no RFE, as soon as I know something I'll let you know becaus eI was wondering the same, all the info I've seen is for K1

I took my documents to be translated by a "professional" and they look like the originals but in english they even copy the seals in the apostille and everything it is indeed a work of art as limejello says.
I'm starting the process, haven't received my NOA1, so i don't have to go to the consulate yet, but I like to be as informed as I can, is better than just waiting

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioninteresting story at the border
I crossed by car on December and then in January again with a tourist visa, and the first time the guy tried to give me a hard time, he made me get off the car and go to where the windows are and he asked me to see my purse cause I'm married with an american and we haven't fixed my paperwork We didn't know much about the process so I asked him and he told me "I don't know just go ahead but fix it" the second time in January the folks were awesome by then we knew about the process and we told them I was coming but we were gonna start the IR1/CR1 and it seemed like we were talking in Japanese or something because they didn't know what we were talking about they told me not to overstay my visa and sent us on our way.

I was confused by the fact they had no idea of the process I don't know I thought since they work in the border they would know about it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussiontraveling on extension letter
I've been wondering the same, I'm traveling to Kuwait in a school sponsored trip so my husband is not coming with me, I was thinking of bringing my NOA and biometrics with the stamp that shows that I had them done already and of course my expired green card and passport.
I'm traveling at the end of September/beginning of October so if you haven't traveled by then I'll let you know how it went and if they gave me any trouble.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDoes violate school bus stop affects Removing Condition?
And I don't think the kids are just "runing out to the traffic". That's why cars need to stop completely when the bus's red liights are flashing and the stop sign is out, so the kids can cross safely. I don't see how it doesn't make sense to you. Pedestrians are supposed to have the right of way all the time anyway.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDenied Application for Driver's License and State ID While I-751 is Pending
I live in Arkansas and the same happened to me, the first license expired with my green card and they wouldn't let me get another one with just the letter, I tried different offices, and when I first got here they wouldn't take the stamp in my passport either, they told me I had to wait for the card itself. It's quite annoying that because of the ignorance of some people I can't get a drivers license or even the State ID. But hopefully I'll get approved soon and if everything goes as planned we are applying for the citizenship in April , so we won't have to deal with this kind of stuff anymore.

Good luck

Biometrics were painless and even enjoyable, people at the Memphis service center were all very nice, it was pretty much empty so we didn't have to wait at all, we had to fill a lil' form, I was called and had to show an ID went in a room and a very nice lady made conversation while putting my fingers in the computer thing first my two hands then my thumbs and then each finger, she then took my picture and even let me see it and "approve" it LOL. We were there like 15 minutes or less.

Something that I've learned from the immigration process is to be patient, I seem to be more tolerant to bureaucratic process now.

1- copy of my green card front and back
2- tax return ( joint files for 2009,2010 )
3- joint bank account ( saving and checking )
4- joint lease (2009 as a roommate wasnt here yet , 2010 and 2011 )
5- wife`s name as a 100% beneficiary of my life insurance threw my work
6- my car insurance card under her name but the title under my name ( dunno if that makes any difference or not )
7- a life insurance policy for the wife threw my work
**** theres no pic due to some health problems for the wife ****
the question here now is do i have to submit any passport photo of me and fingerprints again ? ( i got lost reading the instructions please help )
i hop this is a good evidence for on going relationship which i see it makes no sens at all for all of that paperwork and money too but anyways nothing else to do lol
have a good weekend yall and wish to hear from any of you soon

I think that's enough (but I'm no expert). The passport pictures and fingerprints that the instructions talked about are if you are living outside of the States like on military orders or something like that.

I agree that the paperwork and money are excessive but worth it at the end. Good luck!

Yay! Im glad I'm not alone :D.
Life has been good I've been working on finishing college and life here has been pretty good. We live in a small town (like 2000 people) so coming from Mexico city, adapting to the small town kind of life was the biggest challenge.

Hope everything has been good for you guys too!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 VS k3
We all started exactly where you are, so don't worry about asking.

My husband and I opted to go by the CR1 way because 2 f the reasons you mentioned, is just as fast as K3 and once I enter the states I get permanent resident status and with the K3 you still have to get the Adjustment of Status.

Being in the military can work on your favor mostly if you are going to be deployed acording to what i know, but I could be wrong. My husband is in the National Guard and he cambe back from Iraq in december so we didn't try expedite nor anything like that. He says that he being a soldier helped but I'm not really sure about that, we did send hes military ID with the I-130 and in his W2's it says he was over seas the whole year last year, so who knows.

I'm just giving you my input from my experience and perspective, we started our process at the end of february and as of today we are just waiting to get our appoiment date.

Don't forget to check all the awesome guides they have in this site to make a wise choice

I wish you the best in this new journey you are about to start and let me tell you even when it can be stressfull is worth it.

PS. If you aren't married yet you could also consider a K1 wich is a fiance visa, I don't know much about it but you could check it out too to see if it works for you

Just thought I'd start a page where you can come and vent, rant, have fun, whatever... to get your mind off of this tedious visa stuff while you wait for your significant others to come online
You could call it a pointless, mindless page smile.gif

So, this is your status page, share whatever you like

Vareska is eating sugar cookies at 12:30 am and hoping no one in the house will wake up to see me because I am breaking my diet. Every time I am on a diet I sneak around and have snacks like it's the other family member's diet that's being broken, and not mine. It's quite pathetic really this cheating game I play laughing.gif

And the cookies are some patriotic themed ones, with little red, white and red stars sprinkled all over them, which I don't like so I am scraping them off.

Let's hope no one else tries to break it and you find each other breaking it

Although the cookies sound yummy... with some vanilla ice cream

I agree with Vareska the first page is invaded with "got approved" threads and makes everything harder.

If a subforum is too hard why not a Sticky in wich everyone who wants to be congratulated can post there and everyone who wants to congratulate them can do it there?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFalse RFE?? Does anyone know??

QUOTE (Betsy El Sum @ May 30 2009, 10:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am at the NVC stage of the process and I have sent in everything for my case. NVC has acknowledged they received my I-864 and an operator just a couple days ago said they were finished reviewing it and were just waiting on my DS 230 which I have mailed in the meantime. Today when I called the AVR they said I have an RFE for more information. Could this be a mistake?? Of course now I cannot call them until Monday!!! HELP!!!

Friday night RFE's are mostly about asking for DS-230.. I sent in my DS-230 on Thursday, they recieved it on Friday but it wans;t entered into teh system until Wednesday so yes Friday nite, I heard the same message and I thought it was my AOS.. ruined my long weekend only to find out on Tuesday morning that they were waiting for DS-230!!

Really, don't worry I got an RFE on wednesday, waited for the email, got the email on friday stating that we were missing the I864 wich we had sent and they had recieved, we called and they told us our case was completed on thursday. So really don't worry that much it would make you sick and the you'd find out is not real.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 VISA expired
Hey it may not be all be lost, things can be done a lil' different if your husband is in orders with the army and is in active duty, I really don't know them completely to tell you that you may be saved and you'll be able to lift the conditions, but you could go to your embassy or have your husband call USCIS or something.
I wish you the best of lucks, and I understand you completely, when my husband was deployed we had the chance to make the paperwork and make it faster thanks to his deployment but we choose not to because I was gonna stay in Mexico with my family in the mean time, so don't listen to those who say they can't believe what you did, is probably just frustration on the process. I hope everything works out in the best way for you

Bring all that and more pictures if you can, when i went to my regular interview i brought our full wedding album, and lots of random pictures of us together with friends, family, etc. Also reciepts of hotels, or plane tickets and stuff like that, everything and anything that proves that you share a marital life even from appart.

Again i wish you the best of lucks and you'll be in my prayers

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSPOUSE REQUESTED TO ATTEND NEXT INTERVIEW
I wish you the best of lucks and just a quick advice if you haven't bought your ticket, don't buy it to ciudad Juarez, buy it to el paso because the planes that go to ciudad Juarez go to mexico city first and is an unecesary connection and would probably be more expensive.

And yeah to the one who said Cd. Juarez was like vacation, is not. I mean you don't see the cartel people in every corner, but you do see the MP in trucks with guns andeverything, also be prepared for the heat, is almost unbearable, everything has AC but is still really hot when you are on the street
