christina!!

that is such great news!! so happy to hear it! good for you also for remaining true to who you are and not writing them off. i'm sure sujeet's recent holiday made a big difference. i bet sujeet couldn't stop gushing about you ... his smiles at the mention of your name should have been proof enough and spoke volumes about the special relationship you share.

as a mother, she must have been so relieved to see how well he looks and sounds and about all the wonderful stories he shared with her about your life together.

i am just really happy for you both ... you deserve it! (F)

Africa: Sub-SaharanI want to go back to Africa
i'm sorry ... i have to laugh when people, who have not committed to each other, are advised to go to counseling ... there are SIX BILLION people on this planet!!!!! leave and go back (or respectfully send him/her back) to africa. there is nothing requiring them to stay ... since you are first meeting and the requirement for the K1 is meeting (and the K3 is marraige in which you would have had to met) ... you are not obligated any further.

you tried it and the spark was not there ... no harm, no foul! bid your acquaintance farewell and move on with your life.

unless i'm wrong, i would apply for a new card ... your EAD under the F1 visa is only good for campus related work (or if you've graduated, it's good for employers affiliated with the school).

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTouched
when ever an ajudicator performs any type of work on your case ... you are 'touched' and you will a date change with your online status. some people are:

*never touched and approved

*never touched and RFE'd

*touched once and then approved

*touched several times and approved

*touched several times and RFE'd

see the pattern here?? unfortunately, there is no way that anyone here on VJ can tell you if you case will or will not be touched and how many times.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLetter to Consular
not too sound callous but ... this process needs more proof than just a 'letter of love'. of course that's part of the picture, but it is also just one sided.

they could take that letter and ask your husband personal details about it ... what if he gets those answers wrong?? it may look like he doesn't care or that he's not genuine for not remembering something important like that. like where you stayed from night to night after he left you behind in his hometown.

sounds silly ... but CO's can be brutal, they once denied someone here because their answers did not match about a date that they had initimate relations.

good luck!

gimygirlFemale02006-01-29 16:37:00
K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLetter to Consular

Agreed, the letter should be more succinct and the mental agitations are of no consequence and in fact, the "persistence" you describe could lodge questions that don't need to be implied.

lol good point! i remember thinking that when i initially read it .... but forgot to make that point by the time i finished the letter.

there was a part where you mentioned that upon your first meeting that you didn't give him a second thought, but he did with you and then pursued you. that may not sit well with the CO despite providing additional evidences.

but take it for what you will!!! best of luck to you!

gimygirlFemale02006-01-29 15:31:00
K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLetter to Consular
you may have guarded your heart but you certainly didn't guard your privacy .... you should contact the admin and have him edit out your full name at the end of the letter. there was really no need to post your letter here in length. you've obviously taken the time to compose this letter so you can post it to him.

i hate to sound pessimisstic .... but that's me. i highly doubt that the CO is going to read this letter. anyone can write a letter ... they are going to look at the whole picture of what your supporting documentation shows them regarding your relationship.

as for saying that you instructed your husband not to open it .... you could have mailed it separate with an unsealed envelope requesting that he seal it after he's read it.

anyway, best of luck for his upcoming interview!

Nope...just the way it happened. I told my husband he can't open 2 things...the medical results and the letter to the Consular. I'm even putting a seal on the envelope in case he wants to get nosy. My address label.

is there a reason for the secrecy with your husband ... why can't he read it?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMembers of Household?
your roommate would not be included in your household size. Your household size includes you, your dependents, any relatives living with you, and the immigrants you are sponsoring.

they only reason to include your roommate is if they are going to co-sponsor your fiance with you. If you are using the income of other household members to qualify, then each household member who is accepting legal responsibility for supporting your relative must complete a separate financial affidavit.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresParanoia
why would you CARE so much and continue to post about it IF your husband does not use illegal drugs?

as for the poppy seeds ... they most likely show up in urine tests, not blood tests. and since it's a blood test, there is an additional test that looks for certain chemicals present in heroin that are not present in poppy seeds.

When you log into your portfolio, there's a column showing "last updated". You've been "touched" whenever that date changes.

you may want to slow your roll just a bit!! as i said in my previous post ... a touch really means nothing. someone may have worked on your case during the last 5 min of their day so the date changed. a touch is NOT indicative of an RFE, denial or approval.

sorry to pop that bubble! :innocent:

when ever an ajudicator performs any type of work on your case ... you are 'touched' and you will a date change with your online status. you can register at the site once you have your NOA1 # (also located on the back of your cancelled check). some people are:

if you don't pace yourself now ... you will stress your body out ... you could have a heart attack and die ... then where will your wife be!

calm down, reorganize your priorities, and get settled in for many months apart. this is reality and i don't believe in sugarcoating.

do a little research and look at some other VJ timelines for people in your area. this will give you a general range of time that you should expect to be waiting.

i do wish you a speedy journey!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLast min Interview questions

1) were is the nearest bank to pay my visa fee of £62 near the Embassy? is this any bank i can go too?

If we're talking about the US Embassy in London, I'm pretty sure they accept debit/credit cards.

you need to bring the bank payment slip with you to the embassy ... i would suggest not showing up and expecting to pay there ... from what i remember! ;)

carol ...

1) barclay's (other banks may charge you an extra fee for that service)

2) it is sent by courier within the next 1-3 days (for most people)

3) that's not a question!!

relax!!!! you'll be fine and we are all looking forward to you good news tomr!!!! when are you flying to america!?!?!?

i agree with tracy ... have him go to the embassy and you go to the bank to pay it.

for people that don't know ... for the london embassy, you have to pay your visa fee at a bank and bring the processing slip with you to the interview as proof that you paid for your visa fee.

but definitely take care of this for him and then re-join him inside!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionA truly upsetting day in London
of course, i mirror everyone's sentiments here. give yourself some credit because you were prepared with your waiver and had the fee.

as for the fingerprints ... everyone has to get them, not just you. my husband had to make a special trip to london JUST for fingerprints prior to his interview because he had been denied at the POE. he was fingerprinted again at his interview ... it's SOP.

hopefully you'll hear something in about 8 weeks!!! chin up!

is this not specific to each embassy? you may want to check your embassy's requirements for W-2's.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVery bad news for us
smart little grasshopper, you are tracy! B)

sorry to hear that you've gotten yourself in a tizzy over it! just one more example of why you shouldn't make definite wedding plans until you've got the visa in your passport. what happens if there's a problem at the embassy?

anyway ... like everyone else has said ... that is their generic response when you email them. you just sent the forms back last week ... there is NO WAY that they will have reached anyone's desk in that time frame. they are more than likely still sitting in a huge burlap sack on the mailroom floor ... sad, but true.

give them about 4 or 5 weeks to mail out packet 4 with your interview date. in the meantime, make sure that you have everything you need for your interview (like police cert, original petition package, I-134 info, etc). and the most important thing you can do right now is to NOT stress about it ... as hard as that is. it will only make you feel crappy and it won't change a thing.

you're in the homestretch so just get your little ducks in a row and wade it out ... get it? wade ... like wait it out, but their ducks ... water ... wade?? nevermind! :P

first, you need to overnight her all relevant documentation that she will need for her interview. do that first thing monday morning - pay whatever you have to.

next, call whoever you have to to get to the bottom of your plane ticket fiasco. don't be a wallflower.

sorry that this has happened, but try not to get too upset by it. make sure your fiancee has what she needs for her interview and she will be with you soon if you can't make it down there. no sense jeopardizing your health and having a stroke before she gets here.

best of luck!
