Oh people got interviews today?

Yes those people that didnt get the notice of USEM being closed they were interviewed yesterday Aug 26. My fiance was gonna go but I told him it was closed and I didnt want him to go and have to be sent back like last Tuesday due to the flood when they didnt make an announcement.

The non-immigrant visa applications are handled by a different staff, they don't have more priority.

Thanks Hank! When I logged into the appoinment schedule online it said earliest date available was Sept 10. If we have to wait til Sept 10 and then something unexpected happens again due to weather conditions or whatever its is... then were just gonna keep getting delayed :( You really never know what will happen in the Philippines. haha. Can we protest too in front of the Embassy? Lol. I am just upset that they put misleading information on the website.

1. They tell people it is closed and they are not doing any interviews but those people who didnt read gets interviewed. Shouldnt they be told to come back and wait to be rescheduled like the rest of us? 2. They tell people to check back Monday afternoon and we all check the website and no update on instructions of rescheduling.

Gee,, thanks Hank,,it means alot coming from you

They have to have at least 2-3 people that can give us an answer. I understand they are still trying to get organized with all the flooding from last week but I just dont get how those non-immigrant applicants have more priorith. I'm sure those applicants have also missed their interviewe from last week and Monday's closing but somehow they are allowed to walk-in just like that. Why give priority to those who might not even come back to the Philippines?

Not that it helps at all, but not only is there nothing on the website, and calling is sketchy at best, they also haven't answered my email.  I would guess that the backlog from flood closure has them all scrambling around trying to get stuff done.  Remember, they are dealing with regularly-scheduled things, plus trying to catch up.  Perhaps the person who normally does website updates is busy interviewing customers in order to get caught up?

Ok, that's probably not happening.  rofl.gif

But I'm sure they will get straightened out soon.

Is that really how bad the Philippines is? No organization. If I lived there I'd probably be pissed of half the time with customer service. Hahaha

Aww.. :( Thanks, hey that's where my parents retired to. Near Tagaytay, I think technically in Alfonso, I just remember the casino and Starbucks. Yeah, I feel bad what they have to go through. Wish I could be there with them but I have no one at work to cover me.

How did you know that people were interviewed yesterday? Is that a fact or rumor? Thanks!

One of them had messages me and the other had commented on a post I made yesterday.

I agree with the taking a chance. Good luck to you and hoping for the best. I keep checking the website at work like I an some sort of addict or something.

This is nuts, on top of the frustration my mom likes to gamble and keeps going to some place called Manila pavilion. Fiancee keeps telling me she keeps leaving the room to go there and I didn't have a problem with it. I though ####### was a grocery store, now I found out that there is a casino there.

Bad mother. Haha

My fiancee and mom are having too much fun without me. :( Especially during the floods. I'm getting jealous.

Lol. I keep checking the website also hoping for a miralce it will change. My fiance is coming from Tanauan just a few miles away from Tagatay. I didnt send him yesterday because I felt bad that he traveled thru the flood last week since they made their made their announcement late last Tuesday. He is blaming me that I sent him the notice about the closing yesterday. He says I should have never messaged when you letting you know I was leaving then maybe I could have been interviewed. Hahaha. Good luck to your fiancee and mom tomorrow. All we can do is really take a chance and see what happens. :)

Yeah, my fiancee called twice as well and they just repeat their website. Lol, with the ma'am and sir. I remember my trip in the Philippines and I got called sir. Haha

Ugh, hopefully they can be interviewed asap.

Yes hopefully we all can get interviewed tomorrow. Haha...with all these happening they should just forget the interviews for those of us that had to get cancelled twice and just give us the visa for all the hassle they are putting us through going back and forth only to find out it is closed. I would have sent my fiance there yesterday but didnt want to takena chance on him getting sent back. lesson learned: NO MATTER WHAT THEY PUT ON THEIR WEBSITE JUST TAKE A CHANCE EVEN IF IT SAYS THEY ARE CLOSED. Hahahaha.

Would be nice to find new updated on the USEM website that might add a smile to one's day...

Hank your probably the only one trying to help those of us looking for answers. Yes it would be really nice to see the same notice that non-immigrants are getting on the USEM website :) Will definitely update you on how things go when we take our chances tomorrow. Hoping for the best is all we can do right now.

JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-08-26 11:42:00
PhilippinesCan someone enlighten me.

Stumbling around on the USEM website I found the below info, so it appears the non-immigrant visa notice does not apply to the K-1.. just showing up won't work I guess.
  Immigrant Visas
Welcome to the Immigrant Visas page of VISAtisfied Voyager, U.S. Embassy Manilas visa blog!  Here you will find useful information about applying for an immigrant visa to the United States.  Immigrant visas are for people who want to move permanently to the U.S.  Immigrant visas require petitions, often from family members already living in the U.S. or from American employers.  Some examples of immigrant visa types are IR1 (spouse of an American citizen), F2B (unmarried son or daughter of a legal permanent resident), and E3 (skilled workers).  The immigrant visa unit also processes K1 (fiancé) visas.

Thanks Hank! Very disappointing how they can't give immigrant visa instructions like they said they would. I still wonder why they can give instructions so fast to non-immigrant visa applicants? I mean we all have scheduled interviews except with different type of visa so why cant they do the same for immigrant? How hard is for them to update their website telling all immigrant visa applicants to walk-in like the non-immigrant.

JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-08-26 11:24:00
PhilippinesCan someone enlighten me.

I'm looking for an update statement to because of this appointment cancellation. My Fiancee and mom are on standby in a hotel near the Embassy. I thought when my Fiancee called (6am Sunday morning) it was a joke, then I checked the website and sure enough it wasn't. They were getting ready to go to sleep for the big day and then BAM Pork Barrel!

I see an update on the non immigrant page but not the immigrant page. I am almost sure this is treated as an immigrant visa when really it is a non immigrant with intent to immigrate. But as far as I know the IV unit is the one handling K visas.

They are going to take a chance and go at 4am. Hopefully she can have her interview today. I feel bad for my mom commuting from Tagayatay back and forth for medical and interview.

I'm following this site, USEM of manila Facebook, and any other blog site with the Embassy. I checked online out of curiosity what the schedules look like and Sept. 10th is the next available.

My parents who are retired there are booked for Sept 8th to stay with me. I wish she could make it with them so it would be easier on her.

Sorry for the rant. What a stressful situation this journey has been.

No problem about ranting. Totally feel your pain. Wishing they would somehow be organized or at least have some courtesy to give instructions like they said on the website. I've tried several times calling but the answer I got was check the website ma'am. Seriously? Why pay people to sit around and tell us to check the website which isnt even correct. We are also trying our luck tomorrow also...yes I said that too that the earliest date available is September 10. Hoping for some kind of miracle tomorrow for everyone that is taking a chance on going for the interview. Good luck to all !

Trust me I am very disappointed as well. We pay so much money and cant get any answers. The worst part is finding out that the people who went because they didnt know about the closing were interviewed. Didn't it clearly say on the website they were not doing any interviews because they are closed? So what makes it right for them to interview those who went there and yet they cant give us any answers like they say they would on the website.

Hi. New here. Really needed someone's guidance regarding interview re-scheduling. This in in fact undeniably depressing. I and my fiance were anticipating for this interview day as everyone of us do here, only to be notified that it has been cancelled.

After reading that some people who failed to be intructed that today's interview was postponed, I really felt my blood rushing high up to my brain! like seriously?!! to add to that they clearly posted on there website that they will give an announcement. (i just repeated what everyone said) this is foolishness.

Have any other plans or idea for us to go through this? I'm also not from Manila. I stayed in a hotel yesterday, waited for the announcement 'till my check-out, went home to the province because I have work tomorrow. this is such a hassle. What would be the best choice for us to lessen the delay? or just wait for another equivocal announcement from USEM?

Replies would be much appreciated...

Hi most of us here are just taking chances to go tomorrow. As they dont have any organization to give instructions to anyone. I am still wondering what is so hard to give out simple instructions for immigrant visa when they can immediately give out instructions for non immigrants. Like you we really dont have any answers and hoping for some kind of miracle tomorrow.

I share your frustration,,,I really do,,what they are doing is immoral and somewhat illegal,,I paid for a service and they are not providing it,,,
they are posting false information on their website. I doubt that any American staff member even knows about this,,,,this is the kind of thing that happens in 3rd world governments.
I would expect a little more professionalism from am AMERICAN embassy.

Tomorrow I will start drafting emails..... thats really my only recourse,,demanding that my case be rescheduled,,,

I still have faith that the incompetant fools running the immigration section will figure this out,,legally they really have to,,but it may take several more days unfortunately

NO excuse for not updating the site,,,,or maybe they were too busy intrviewing the ones who couldnt follow directions and went anyway,,,,hmmmmm

Seriously. It clearly states they are not conducting interviews for August 26 so why go ahead and interview people if they are closed? What anout those did read the website and did not go they just leave us hanging? We plan to go tomorrow and see what happens if they will let us in. It is such a hassle to go back and forth.

JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-08-26 05:47:00
PhilippinesCan someone enlighten me.
This is frustrating already. What is the problem about rescheduling an appointment? On the website they tell people it will be updated at noon regarding rescheduling for those that have appointments August 26 and then we wait for that update and still nothing so we call to see if we get anything over the phone and these fools still wants us to check the website. The information they give on their website is not even correct. As they said they are CLOSED due to some large demonstration so for most of that read the update did not go and guess what those that did not read were able to get interviewed. This is unfair. Please enlighten me someone :(

PhilippinesIntroduced by a relative: Is this a red flag?

I was doing advance searches on VJ when I came up with topics that being introduced by a relative to a future fiance/fiancee can be a red flag. In my case I am kind of worry about this. I met my fiancee last year when I went home to the Philippines.  I (USC) was introduced by my uncle to my fiancee.  The next 11 months we spent the time everyday chatting online and our love developed. In April of this year I went home and spent next three weeks with my fiancee, met her family and she met mine and we got engaged during our engagement party.

Will this be an issue to the USEM that I met her via my uncle?  Should I have my uncle write an affidavit about our meeting? Should I have my fiancee friend's or my coworkers write affidavit to show that our relationship is genuine?

Will the following proof be enough to prove our ongoing relationship?  Hundreds of facebook chat logs, her postings and my postings on each other's facebook wall with our pictures together taken during skype sessions with date of postings showing up,  skype logs, a few emails ( we dont email each other much), greeting cards I sent via LBC.  Receipt of Johnny air or LBC packages I sent , flower and bear sent during Valentines day with a receipt from Paypal as well as the vendor , Facetime screen shots, some Google voice and Skype voice call logs.

We also did travel together to various places in the Philippines and we have plane stubs to proved that we were together.  We have lots of pictures together from the various places we visited as well as pictures of our engagement party. There are pictures of me with her family . We went to Singapore and have passport stamps to prove our trip as well as plane boarding pass.

If needed I have xoom or western union receipts of money I sent her ,but Im not submitting this since USEM might construe this differently.  And just to be sure, I am going with her to USEM during her interview.

Do you guys think we have a strong case to prove our ongoing relationship?

Not a problem at all. My fiance's aunt (a family friend) was the one who introduced us to each other. We filed the petition March 2013 and got approved.

JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-08-30 11:37:00
PhilippinesNOA2 approved! Now more questions.

Hello everyone.Okay our petition got approved last week by the USCIS and now being sent to NVC to the USEM.

Here comes the questions:

How do we schedule a medical appointment after we receive instructions from the embassy?
What should we bring when we go there?
How long will it take?

My fiance(USC) will send me some papers needed for my interview.
How long will it take for those papers to get here in the Philippines from the USA Co?

Where/when/how do we pay for the visa payment?
what are needed to bring when we pay it?
How much does it cost?
Is it okay if I pay it here using peso?or do my fiance have to pay it using dollars?

When we have everything needed/done for the interview
When do we schedule for the interview appointment?earlier or a month later?Does it matter?

all sensible comments and advise are welcome.

i sent my documents to my fiance via LBC and it got there in like 5 days.. paid about $13 to have mailed.

PhilippinesVisa and Mall of Asia

I have read on here about getting your visa earlier by picking it up at the Mall of Asia, but no more information.

Can visas be gotten earlier at the Mall of Asia?

How would I arrange this?

Anyone done this before?

Thanks

We had our interview Aug 27 and decided to have picked up from 2Go MOA since my fiance has to get his CFO sticker on the passport. Its been a week since the interview and up to now we have not received the visa yet. They said on the website you receive it after 2 weeks anyways. Maybe they are still trying to catch up with all the delays that happened last week.

Keep the DO NOT OPEN envelope in his carry on luggage also.  They will mention about getting married in 90 days, not too much after that.

The I-94 is not filled out on the airplane anymore, its done electronically, there is a link to the CBP site in my guide.

Should he fill out and print out the I-94 before leaving or after he enters?

Hi everyone we are still waiting for our visa to arrive but as we wait I would like to get any advice of what my fiance should do when it is time for him to travel since I will not be able to travel with him. I know that the brown envelope should be kept seald anything else that he is not allowed to open? What types of questions are asked once he gets to immigration? What forms does he have to fill out on the plane? When does he have to fill out the I-94 form? Any advice would be great. Thanks :)
JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-09-04 15:14:00
PhilippinesUPS, FedEx, LBC, USPS

I sopke with a supervisor at NVC this morning about scanning and sending via emails so papers could be printed there rather than sending a packet.

I was told it 'depends on the embassy', contact them to see if that is acceptable.

But to expect they would want original signatures and that copies would not do...

Just FYI...

-Phil

Thank you. I decided to send the original such as the Affidavit of Support and Letter of Intent to marry. Dont want to have any problems on the day of the interview so might as well play it safe :) Took a long time to get this far so I want to make sure the rest of our journey will be as smooth as possible :)

JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-07-30 22:12:00
PhilippinesUPS, FedEx, LBC, USPS

If LBC is the most convenient and familiar for your Fiance, you should use them because there's still have plenty of time before the interview to get the documents to him. I only paid $8.70 to send my documents, and it arrived in north-central luzon within 10 days.  In principal, the money I saved covered what she spent on clothes while in Manila. smile.png

You should keep in mind that other folks might not have the LBC option.

Yes LBC is the most convenient for my fiance since he can easily pick it up near where he lives but since his interview is on August 29 and I plan on sending it tomorrow he is worried it might not get to him on time or that it might get lost or something so he is getting mad for not sending when we got our NOA2 but I had to wait for my HR to come back from vacation last week so I could get my employment letter last Friday plus I had to double check everything before sending it to him so that we don't have any problems when his interview comes. I have extra copies of everything anyways and I can send him some of the things thru email but not sure about the affidavit of support & letter of intent to marry since it needs the original signature.

Use UPS... less stress is a good thing right now.

Hi did you get your Affidavit of Support notarized? Not sure if it had to be but I got it notarized anyways just in case.

JAYANN & JAYFemalePhilippines2013-07-28 19:06:00
PhilippinesUPS, FedEx, LBC, USPS

I use dhl because of their presence in Manila and overseas in general.

Dhl has something like 12 locations there and ups I think has 1 or 2.

Also sent docs twice and they get there in 3 days safe and sound. It's pricier but the piece of mind makes it worth while.

Take advantage of print shops and PDFs in email. No point in shipping a paper that could be printed there.

Will the Embassy accept forms that are copies like the affidavit of support & employment letter?

I am trying to send the documents my fiance needs for his interview. Which is the fastest to way to mail the documents my fiance needs? PhilippinesCan the Petitioner pay Visa fee's, set Med and Embassy appointments?

Thanks for all the advise,

Fed-ex or DHL I will choose one that can deliver my financial paper safe. Thanks for the advise of what may be needed but I'm going to play on caution side and send Fed Tax-W2 with my Pension and stock market value along with other savings as I'm applying for my Fiance and her two young kids. I want no question that I can provide.

Thanks again.

Try using LBC. Sent my docs to fiance on a Monday and fiance received it Saturday. Pretty cheap too only paid about $13. :)

Philippines100% vs. 125% of poverty for USEM

Sure you'll pass, cuz once you get here and get married, if you don't meet 125%, you need only have 3X the difference in assets, or have a co-sponsor. Two things which USEM usually don't take into account.

For example, say I have a HH of 2, and make $18,000 this year.  If USEM uses 100%, my fiance gets a visa.  Then she gets here, we get married, and now I must make $19,387.  My deficit is $1,387, so 3X that is needed in assets, or $4,161.  So I can show USCIC that my house has $10,000 in equity in it, and I can file without a co-sponsor, nor do I need to have any extra cash on hand.  It's a HUGE difference, in reality.

This is some very useful information DavenRoxy.
