IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshu? DNA Paternity Testing??

After a long and flustering time we finally got Sue's interview which was today, every thing went well till the end. It seems like we must provide a DNA paternity test to prove that I am my daughters father, before they will allow Sue to travel. Nice little bomb shell, no where in any of the paper work they sent or on any of the web sites dose it require a DNA paternity test for a CR-1 Spouse Visa which is what we filed for, my wife and I have been married for over seven years. Granted to main reason for us to leave Jamaica was for our daughter to attend school here. We did not even need a DNA paternity test to file for our daughters US citizenship, why now? and why where we not told of this before the interview...? The test is not cheap almost 800 US$, but we would of had it done before the interview if we had known. So now we have another step before my wife can travel and get our family whole again, after a year of frustration and dashed hopes.

Has anyone else had this dropped on them?

I jus got SIF about two days ago. my dad is filing for me. NO dna was requested @ the USCIS or NVC stage and am terrified @ the interview i will b asked for one. He is my dad but styl, thats more Delay. like y not ask b4 the interview rather than @ the interview. i hope i dodge it someway, somehow.

sorry about the further delay & good luck man.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview - Question about birth certificate

So hopefully I will receive my interview appointment soon (yeah yeah I know, there is another step in between), and I am already compiling my paperwork. I will be interviewing at the Embassy in London and according to their website, I need:

"Birth Certificate: Obtain the original, or certified copy, of the birth record of each family member (yourself, your spouse..." Ergo two birth certificates. Now mine is not the problem, however my husbands, the USC, is the issue. We send in his ORIGINAL birth certificate with the initial I-130 package and all we have left now is an uncertified b/w copy of it. Do we need to get ANOTHER original or will the copy do?

I think you need the original copy. Its better to be on the safe side

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresthe same boring question I guess:) how long does it takes to obtain the spouse visa from the day the I_130petiton was sent?

Hi everybody,
I'm new in this forum and I'm really desperate to know how long the process of the spouse visa will take. I'm from Tunisia and my husband is an American we got married last December, he sent the petition this January and the USCIS emailed him the receipt number, so when he checked in the site he found 3 circles instead of 9.. is it a good thing?

More details: he's a police sergeant. Please I need an answer. Thank you all!!

on average 9months- 1year. It maybe less depending on fast your petition is approved and how quickly you respond to NVC when they request documents.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSome Questions about filling out I-129F for my fiance

So I am starting to fill out the I-129F and getting my fiance visa all put together but I have some questions about what how to fill some things out?

1. My fiance lives in Jamaica, and he doesnt have a "street number" he has a road that he lives on and i know the name of that but there is no street number (I mean he doesnt even have a mail box) should I just put the street name down for his address or should I put the post office down where he would collect any mail?
this is my biggest concern!

2. When it comes to sending the package, when its finished, where should I send it... to the service center? (which for me would be Vermonts) or do I send it to Dallas?

3. If you are filling out a co-sponsor for the I-134 is there a place on the form where it can be stated that they are a co-sponsor, or does it even matter?

4. Does anyone know if there is an age limit to filing the forms. I'm 19 years old, do I need to be 21? (I wouldnt think so but I worry about it)

Thanks For all the help!!!

Write the street name down , the post office and the parish and your are good to go.

Most of the people including me are like yours... But the degree varies, that's all... You have to be impatient in this immigration process, nevertheless, in the actual life, patience (anger management) is needed for success... Whenever I become angry, I was the loser...

So I've been waiting (like other December/November Filers) over 220 days
228 days since they received my application. I've filed FIVE expedite requests, 2 with congressmans office, 1 with senators, 2 over the phone. I've submitted evidence within hours of request. And I still have not a single touch on our application. I am now starting to think that they've lost my application. And if I have to refile, heads are going to roll. Has there been any cases where USICS lost your application, after they've received it?

The best advice i can give you is not to refile. Same thing happen to our case and we were told NOT to refile.

When were you notified it was lost?
from say Received date?

They did not actually tell us it was lost. All i know if they call my husband after he wrote to Chuck Schumer. They apologise for the delay( that did little to help cuz we waited one whole year!)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTHE RACE IS NOT FOR THE SWIFT........
I first started this process four (4) yes, four years ago at which point my husband was a LPR now he is a USC and we are almost done with this process that has caused us so much tears, heartache and financial sacrifices.

I just wanted to let all of you going through this process that when it seems like there is no end in sight just hold on and trust God. At times i did not know we would have made it or if our marriage would last, but God has been faithful and he is not a man therefore he CANNOT lie. We had to contend with one whole hear of hearing absolutely nothing from the VSC because someone mislaid or file or flat out bounce it off the desk and forgot to pick it up (LOL).

After writing to numerous public officials we were told not to refile and that the case was approved. Thanks be to God the end is in sight but guess what we waited for well over 5 months to hear anything from NVC or Kingston. Now our message on the auto-system has finally changed.

So i want to encourage you all please hold on when you least expect it something will happen; truth be told im not even happy at this moment because this whole process has taken my joy away all i feel now in total numbness!

God bless...and remember the race is not for the swift neither for the strong but for the one who can endure till the end

Problem is with me, if things dont get done the way I want them to be, I start acting bat #### crazy, he calls me a tyrant, which fits perfectly well wink.gif

Sometimes I get mad that how easy going he is, and there I was sweating over every small detail while filling up the papers and still I am and he just takes it easy, gets his peaceful sleep every night.

I guess for us there is no pattern, sometimes we go through without fighting for 3 whole months and sometimes we fight every alternative day.

I heard that the green card can take a month or two.

My wife entered the US through LAX just over a week ago. We went to the local SSA office last week and her SSN is already in the system, although she hasn't received the actual card yet. They printed out a piece of paper with her SSN on it.

Thanks ninarocket,

I came in about 2 weeks ago via JFK so i will go with my husband to the local SSA office to see if we can get the number.

My hubby received an official notice yesterday from the NVC saying that he should pay $400 for my visa. What does this mean and what is the next step. I realize from reading all the blogs that contrary to the fact that the NVC says that the process from a US citizens to get his/her spouce usually takes anywhere from 3-6 months im seeing where its taking most persons approx. 8 months - is this assumption right???

Let me know your thoughts.
