CaribbeanJamaica K1 - Medical completed
I am surprised that he had no problem having gotten the shots elsewhere. I saw in another thread the person was told that the embassy would only accept them being given from the doctor doing the medical and they had to go get them again.

Caribbeankids had interview today

Okay which one do you want answer first,

let start with bills, they want to see your debt ratio to your income. If your debt is greater than income earn, then they will be requesting a co-sponsor.

Now on to the DNA testing, when the results are back and if it proves that the husband is not the biological father of thsi child , yes it will be denied.

Adoption, first you need to look at the requirements that are enforced by Jamaica as regard to adoption.

Second, you need o look at the requirements that are enforced by USCIS, one of the biggest hurddle that most people face are the 2 year residency of living in the adopted child country before you can petition for the adopted child.

Adoption is not a DIY procedure, you will need to hire 2 lawyers, one in Jamamica and another in the US.

This is starter information.

Goodluck.

Same thing what you said.

Question:

Do you think he should go ahead with the DNA for the 14 year old since he already knows that it is not his child? I feel like you would be throwing away money here.

Also she would have to be adopted before she reaches 16 years old.

Sorry to hear about that though. Was looking to hear good news for you today.

You can go in and pay on his behalf. Just take his passport with you to show them.

He will need to provide the receipt at the embassy.

CaribbeanJA K1 - Help Please - Passport Expiration

the wording makes it sound like it has to BE EXPIRED to renew.??????or is it assumed you can do it before

It does not have to expire before it is renewed. Jamaican passports can be renewed 6 months before expiry date.

Hope it all works out. He needs to HURRY. I think they close to the public at 3:00 pm.

CaribbeanJA K1 - Help Please - Passport Expiration
A next day service is available. I think it cost $7,500. If he has everything and gets the documents signed up by the officials he can go in early Wednesday morning and pick it up Thursday.

The supporting documents etc mention by LIFE is also important.

I know the next day service is available in Kingston. Not sure about Mobay. Call the passport office and ask.

He sure has a lot to do. Maybe he should go collect his Medical Package today instead of Thursday so that he can deal with it in good time.

CaribbeanUS citizen marrying Jamaican citizen in Jamaica
You can establish a business in Jamaica if you have a work permit or is a Jamaican Citizen.

Visit pica.gov.jm for information on how to become a Jamaican citizen through marriage. I think the process takes about 1 year. The Jamaica Information Services website should also have information.

Marrying a Jamaican does not automatically change the length of time you can stay in the country.

I want to cry :crying:.

My employers say we cant go home until 4:00pm and I have a 1.5-2 hour drive ahead of me! I should have turned and gone back home when it started to rain this morning while I was on my way to work. I am too damn loyal. I keep hearing bulletins on the radio where other companies are sending home staff from 1 and 2 o'clock.

I should pick up my passport by Friday. Don't want to burn my bridges or else I would just get up and to go home!

CaribbeanReflections
The journey was really frustrating and depressing at times but we are thankful for the light at the end of the tunnel.

The fees will definately depend on the shots and good approximate figures were posted by others. It would also be good if he calls and asks so that he can be prepared for anything. The good thing is if he does not have it all with him they will allow him to bring it at another time.

I hate to walk around with a lot of cash so I was happy that Andrews said they accepted payment by credit and debit cards.

CaribbeanUS called Fiance's Job
The US government is not stupid indeed. So to call and ask if a person is 'in' is stupid. To call to verify the information given on a document is an entirely different matter.
velrichFemaleJamaica2012-11-12 12:53:00
CaribbeanUS called Fiance's Job

It doesn't matter whether he's telling the truth about his employment or not. Because it's NOT something that matters for getting his visa. So calling to see whether he told the truth about his employment would be completely pointless when his employment is irrelevant.

Being employed is also not a requirement for getting a tourist visa is it? You just have to prove that you have enough ties to your country. However, in most cases they do call and check if you do say you are employed at the place that you put on your application.

I know this because I have had to deal with calls from the embassy to my office when they check. I recall one occasion when it turned out that the person did not work with us. They also sent in a job letter our letterhead. Investigations revealed that the person who signed it had no authority do so and was just trying to 'help out a friend'. He was fired. We had to do a clean up job which also included providing the embassy with the title and names of persons who are authorised to verify employment. This is a well known international company.

I am sure you know that lying to the embassy has consequences.

I can only speak for Jamaica. I dont know what takes place in other countries.

CaribbeanUS called Fiance's Job
Some of the comments are just so weird.

It has nothing to do with whether or not a job is a part of the requirement for getting the visa......its about finding out if he is telling the truth about his employment!! It is as simply as that because some people tell lies even when there is no reason to do so.

CaribbeanUS called Fiance's Job
Yes. I know of it happening before with someone at my work place. Maybe the background checks were not completed and that could also be one of the reason they took awhile for you to get the passport.

CaribbeanDENIED
OMG! I feel so disappointed for you. Pictures not being dated sounds like a silly reason.

Based on my experience there yesterday I saw that a lot of it was based on how a person sounds when they answer the questions. The man who interviewed me did not stop staring into my eyes unless he was looking at a document.

If it was that young lady with light hair and glasses I got the impression that she was so very 'by the book and matter of fact'.

Don't give up. I know it is easier said than done and the process can be frustrating.

I tried that a few years ago. It is illegal to do so. a passport must only go across country borders with its owner or in a diplomatic pouch.

You no longer pay a fee to DHL to get the passport when it is ready. If he registered properly on the website then it is okay. Keep the green ticket safe for handing over to DHL.

If you have a Tri-band phone it should work.  If you really want to use it instead of asking someone for a call, make sure you go to a digicel store before you leave Jamaica to ask them to check or help you set up your phone for roaming.

You can call when the plane lands, before you go around to the immigration section or after you have left the immigration section because phone call or use of electronic equipment while you are in that area waiting to be processed.

USCIS Service CentersRegistering case on USCIS website

Hi everyone!!
i
I have four different NOAs with four different receipt numbers; I-130, I-485, I-131 and I-765.

I have successfully registered my I-130 case on the USCIS website and have received updates, but when I try to register with the other NOA receipt numbers, the following message appears:

"Your case cannot be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again.”

Has anyone else come across this issue or been able to resolve it?

Thanks,
Meisha

Each time I try thats all I get. :(

CaribbeanDivorce

Well i believe your friend could get a divorce in St.Vincent as well as in Jamaica.depending on a few factors to be considered.I do not know what the process and procedures are in obtaining a divorce in St. Vincent. In order for your friend to file for a divorce in Jamaica on the grounds that the marriage must has broken down irretrievably.she must be married for at lease 2 years and separated 12 months or more.he/she should be a Jamaican National and should be domicile in Jamaica prior to the proceedings.he/she must Resides In Jamaica and had done so for at least 12 months immediately prior to the divorce proceedings. To get a divorce done in Jamaica it is a very lengthy procedure depending on the situation.like if children and property is involve.but from what i been told by my lawyer for a simple divorce without children and property it could take up to 9-12 months to finalized.I am in a divorce proceeding right now and it had been 5 months since i file.it's a 3 step process so it goes by stages.first she will need to make an application with the supreme court house..which is the same as filing the petition, then once it's approve and she get's the necessary paperwork then she will need to have papers serve on her husband.he has a certain amount of days to respondent to the petition( i don't remember exactly how much days).if he does or doesn't respond and the days are passed, then the divorce would still continue.then she will need to apply to the court for the decree Nisi..this is the longest step in the divorce process, once it's approve then she will need to make an application with the court to apply for the decree absolute which is the last and final step for the divorce to be completed.if your friend wants to file in St.Vincent then she will need to speak to a lawyer from there on how to go about it and she can always try to get in touch with a lawyer from Jamaica too,so she can know exactly what her options are.All the best and good luck to your friend!

i forget to mention that your friend can be separated 1 year out of the 2 years of being married.

Right, so if they close the field office then I'm looking at going to Dominican Republic......

no you won't go to Dominican republic for an interview.it's just the USCIS field office is closing. USCIS field office is the department that you locally go to file your original petition (s)...it's kinda like the Vermont center and California center etc.

CaribbeanKingston field office closing!!!

I just read that USCIS is closing the Kingston Embassy on March 1 and its stating that the embassy in Santo Domingo will assume all duties. Does this mean we will have to fly to the Dominican Republic for his interview??? I'd appreciate any kind of insight into this because I'm just in disbelief...Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.....Any Jamaica VJ members that gets an interview scheduled after March 1 - please share!

I'm no immigration expect and such,i just visited the USCIS website and from my understanding it's not the embassy/consulate that is closing. It is the USCIS field office is closing off at the Kingston Embassy.

oh by the way it is the USCIS filed office that you file immigration petition with and not the actual embassy where you have your interview.
