Wishing someone would send me some Ackee. I went looking online for fresh ackee recently, because someone told me it had medicinal properties and everything I saw was no no no.

i think we are going to use DHL, its the most reliable and cheapest option considering time and importance. would have use USPS if we had like a month to interview but its a little over 3 weeks, cant run that risk

We all know how messed up the mailing system is in jamaica. What is the best and most affordable way to send an envelope the standard 8*11 with just some photos and some papers to take to interview? Interview date is the 14th of July, package wont be ready to shipped until the 25th of August.

I made an error, it should read interview if the 14th of september. Im scared to use the unreliable mailing service and leaning more towards DHL

usually you go through immigration then customs. it should be the same here. he will go in the line, when he gets to immigration, they will instruct him on what to do. he will be taken to a separate room for them to process whats in his DO NOT OPEN ENVELOPE

CaribbeanJamaica Embassy

Hey guys! So, we got the DS-230 emailed in and we received a response back stating they received our DS-230 and they will mail my fiance his interview letter in 6-8 weeks.... 6-8 WEEKS???!!! Is that the same response others have gotten? I thought there was a number we could call, Department of State? and they could give us an interview date? I called 202-663-1225, went through almost every option and never could figure out how to speak with someone... Should I just chill out and wait? Will it really be 6-8 weeks before he even gets his interview letter? Or is there another number I should be calling DOS or NVC with?

Once again, THANK YOU!!

I got that emailed too, i guess its an auto reply response. You will get your interview date soon, dont worry. As soon as soon as it is assigned they will mail it to him/her with the date unless you ask for packet 4 by email. Sit tight and dont panic, you have done all you can

CaribbeanKingston Medical Exam Tips

My fiancé went to Andrew’s Memorial Hospital. Each facility might work a little bit differently. But he was told to come in and register between 10-11am. Then the appts were on a first come, first serve basis after registration. They schedule a bunch of people at the same time and do all of the visa people at one time. The medical exam fee is $9900 JMD. When I scheduled the appt for my fiancé, she didn’t tell me an amount for him to bring. She just told me how much the exam fee is and to bring extra in case he needs vaccinations. I had him fill out the medical history form and bring that with to the appt. To be on the safe side, I would have him be there by 730am then. The amount she quoted might just be an estimate in case he needs vaccinations, but I'm not sure how she came up with that figure.

Just be prepare to kill the entire day there. its a long process. eat before going and be honest with the doctor regarding smoking pot if the doctor ask (if he does in fact smoke) they will find out everything through the blood test. wishing you and your fiancee all the best and tell him NOT to forget the apt letter, passport and immunization card and something to keep his mind occupied.

CaribbeanK1 Jamaica - Average Times, DHL and Medical
you need to do the medical about 2 weeks before the interview date. they will tell you which date to come pick it up..more than likely a few days before interview. When you do the visa interview, if everything is alright, you SHOULD get it within a week. if not......IDK so think about all that when your planning

no one know how long each step of the process will last. you can expect everything to be completed within a 8-12 months period from filing to actual visa in hand. good luck on your VJ and do not worry., just wait for them to process your docs and if they need anything, they will contact you

CaribbeanVISA DENIED CONTINUES

Thank you for your response. I already have my suspicions as to what caused the red flags. It has more to do with the Chapter 13 question. But that was a situation that had nothing to do with my fiance. It was long before he came into the picture. I never followed through with it and it was cancelled.I mentioned it to him before but didnt think it was improtant. But I could see how that must look to a CO. My fiance presented western union receipts (which I thought would show that I am capable of supporting him when he is here) but I had been in Chapter 13. That wouldnt look too good to me either. Still it wasnt what it seemed.

Now if it did have something to do with the fact that I hadnt taken my children, then that would say to me that there is a major flaw in the system. How can someone who has children and never taken them to visit (some right here on VJ)get approved and we get denied for the same? Makes no sense. Still if that was an issue then that would be something that should be explained by me. Keep in mind, this man has been in our lives for well over a year now. My kids interact with him in their own way. So the next time, we will share the yahoo conversations between him and the children. We will show the daily texts and phone logs for them.

As far as drug rehab. I dont see where that is requested nor required. However, we will do the random drug testing as I feel that is a great idea. By the time the USCIS has received the packet back from the Embassy, the approval will have expired and they will not reopen an expired case. And we are not planning to marry until January. We will then file at the end of January. My parents and stepparents will be in attendance along with a couple of my siblings, my children and my cousin and a close friend. If we had known the things we know now, we would have gotten married last year. This is a learning process. Unfortunately, sometimes life teaches us lessons that we have to pay for before we learn.

Again...thank you so much for you help. GOD bless you. Miracles, love and blessings.

Im wishing you gods richest blessings. with whatever you choose to do in life. a denial really hurts especially after investing so much time and money but it will be worth it in the end

ok i did email them now just waiting on them to respond. we have called dhl and they said that it was still at the embassy and they were backed up.

Do you think they are calling her back to deny it?

this is a complicated situation. only DOS can provide you with the answer you need. i think you should call them in their regular work hours and speak to an agent. i have never heard of anything like this before

you have 3 options to get your visa from DHL after its approved. have them delivered it to your home (which is not a sure thing) only if your within the delivery range. Option 2. you pick it up at the DHL office in New kingston and Option 3. pick it up at the DHL office in montego bay located close to the airport. thats the only options

CaribbeanJA K1 - Help Please - Passport Expiration

Thanks everyone. My dear fiance is actually gonna try to pull of a miracle tomorrow and travel from Cave to Negril and pick up documents to renew passport, then to north of mobay (rose hall) to pick up the Medical envelope by 10:30 and then travel to Kingston passport office to order the renewal before they close, so we can pick up on Thursday in time for the Friday morning interview. He wants to try so I will be praying for him all day. He can stay over with his sister there and I will travel down and meet him on Thursday instead of traveling together. Gotta stay flexible and keep the faith. Worth a shot!

wow, all the best.

OK from PICA it says Kingston is only office that offers overnight processing for $7000JD so that is what we will work with. Doh don't think there is enough time to renew before 8:00 am Friday. I feel foolish for not noticing this detail before today so now must pay the consequences.

Thanks everyone. Its gonna be OK

god luck with that. i hope you get through so the interview go well on friday
