Very true. Five years in and I still hear crazy stories. Someone told yesterday that Damien is going to take my baby back to JA once he's born

Two weeks ago a co-worker called him a sugar daddy for taking care of his responsibilities like paying bills. When I told a friend she said I was more like a sugar momma. I asked her how and she had no response

I was told by a few vets they were extremely envious that Damien and I made it this far  So you never know who is happy for you.

You have to have tough skin in these relationships.

ppl just need to mind their own business and realize that it's your life and you live it in a way that makes you happy. We shouldn't get offended when people who are not important to us make stupid comments as it's just their jealous talking.

Hey TAMH, How are you girl?

I agree with TAMH KJenkins. Ignore stupid people and I'm sure this will not be the last time for comments like that. I had them too, but it was my decision in the end. We knew what we would have to take on bringing them here and don't need anyone else to tell us.

I'm wonderful, just counting down the days to my interview.

I couldn't help but notice you were inquiring about rental car for a friend. I work with a car rental company and would be able to offer some assistance. When is your friend coming to Jamaica? Will he/she be landing in Kingston or Montego Bay?

This is going to be a long one.

Hey ladies as you can see I'm back. I had to cut my trip by a few days because my life seems to be upside down at the moment. First, I get to Jamaica with a 103 fever and I get a phone call that my grandmother just had STROKE, but it was a mild one; second, my sister, who is pregnant, her water broke (baby is not due until SEPTEMBER); Third, my little brother's heart started to beat out of control so, he's also in the hospital. I tell you when it rains, it really POURS. My brother and sister is doing okay for right now. They're trying to keep the baby in until the 23rd week then they'll move her to a high tech hospital in case she needs to deliver. Then I move, into my new place on Friday... oh LORD help me please. My EXXXXXXXXX WOULD NOT LET ME TALK TO MY SON AT ALL WHILE I WAS IN JAMAICA - TOLD HIM MOMMY IS NOT COMING BACK. (I just about lost my every loving mind) --

Okay now Jamaica;
Let me tell ya'll, if I wasn't sure Marcel loved me or if I had any doubts in the back of my mind I know 110% now. First, his friend sends his brother to pick me up I did not know who the brother was but he recognize me, so, of course, I refused to go with him. I waited for Marcel's friend to call me back. They were having a send off party for one of their friends from the Holiday Inn who was coming to the states (someone I met) back in September. Anyway I showed up at the party and was asked to bless the food. (Marcel didn't know who was talking on the mic and turns to his friend and says, "I wish that DAMN woman would hurry up with the prayer so we can eat). Remember, my voice was still not 100%. Well, when he looked up and saw my face he started to cry out of control, he was BAWLING in front of about 40 people. I didn't even know he was going to react like that. I was SPEECHLESS. Anyway, I told him about my grandmother and he says let's go. We were at the hospital in Falmouth in about 45mins.

Now, because I was sick and feverish and it was about 90 plus degrees when I get to Jamaica and I was having the chills. So, WHAT DOES MARCEL SAY! No, SEX for me until I get better (MAD AS HELL) I was. YA'LL KNOW I WAS IN HEAT before I left. But, I didn't mind. I was too weak anyway. I slept the rest of the day. Thursday, still sick as hell, but been drinking rum honey and pimento. It took us a little under 3 hours to reach Kingston (Chalky Hill). Mi naw drive dehso again and we were in a TRUCK. Gill, I almost lost my breakfast! I slept the rest of the way. I didn't even know when we reached Kingston, but we got there around 10:30. A few people were outside and his appointment was not until 12:30 to drop off the DS-230, so I asked then if we could drop it off early. The guards that were out front said we had to wait for them to open the door and ask those guards. The guards said to form 2 lines. One for people who have interview and the other for those who are dropping off paperwork. Marcel was the 3rd person in the paperwork Anyway I went back to sit in the truck with the A/C blasting. We were parked across the street. Well, Marcel friend and I decided to I needed to walk around since my legs were cramping up. When I got out of the truck I looked over and saw that one of the guards that were at the door was yelling at Marcel. Now, the street that the embassy is on is extremely busy, so be careful crossing it. It took me a while to get across the street and as I'm standing on the median to wait for traffic to clear I can hear the guards yelling at Marcel and telling him he can't get in without and appointment letter and he's clamly and quietly telling them all he is there to do was drop of the DS-230 so that an interview can be scheduled and that he was told to ask if he could drop it off earlier.

I finally made it across the street. Now, I'm standing in front of the embassy and asking what's going on. Well, wouldn't you know it, the guard that was at the door GRABBED MY DRESS and Marcel went off. I was now standing between Marcel who is 6'4" and the guard who was about 5'5". Anyway, I told Marcel to walk away and I took out my US passport. The 2 police officers (not embassy guards) that were outside had Marcel off to the side talking to him and calming him down and told him not to pay the the guards anymind. By that time, two other people came outside (BECAUSE I HAVE A BIG MOUTH) a bald headed black man (a supervisor) and a white lady who walked over to me when she saw me holding my passport. She asked me what happened and I told her that I was assaulated my one of the embassy employees. She said WHAT! I said that guard over there grabbed my dress and grabbed it so hard that the tie on the side came undone. I had on a wrap dress. Of course he denied it and said he was only directing me to step into a line. All the people outside said, A LIE DI MAN A TELL...IM GRAB ON PON DI OOMAN DRESS AND PULL AR! She asked me if we had an appointment and I said yes, but it was not until 12:30 to drop off the DS -230 and that all I wanted to know was if we could drop it off before the 12:30 appointment. She looked at it and said that it was okay and we could drop it off she also told me we didn't need the 2 picutures yet and to bring 4 pictures at the interview. She told me to go ahead in with Marcel and I left my purse outside with Marcel friend. She also apologized for what happened. Once we were inside they gave us the 2 pictures back that I had attached to the DS-230 and told me that it was not necessary. The gentleman that took the DS-230 also told me the same thing, that they didn't need the pictures and I asked are you sure?. The guard that pulled my dress was removed, because I was cleary upset as were some of the other people outside.

Some of those guards think they have your lives in their hands. Like they the ones giving you the approval. Don't put up with SHITTTTT from them.

As we were leaving, the same lady walked over to me and again apologized, but to both of us this time. Marcel, shook her hand and we both said thank you. She she said see you in a month of two. She also said, some people do request and specific date and time for their interview. They will try and accommodate if it's doable. So, if you asking for a date that is about 2 months out it's a possibility you'll might get it. She said, it never hurts to ask. She was very nice, very nice.

Well, that's about it. Now, ya'll pray for me please and my siblings.

Im praying for you Lawny....sorry for your experience here in Jamaica

I just cant understand why we treat each other the way we do

Good Morning my beautiful SISTAHS

Before I burden you all with my problems.

Heavenly Father, please I call out to you today, actually I'm bawling out to you today. Lord, my shoulders are heavy with burden. I pray not only for myself but also for my sisters her on VJ. I pray that those that are also going through troubled times, that you'll strengthen them and strengthen their relationships and their FAMILIES. I pray that you blessed those that are pregnant and that you watch over their precious blessings. I pray that you heal all those that are in need of your powerful medicine, dear God. I ask that you strengthen our commitment as we wait on our loves ones to join us here in the states. I pray that you speed up the process for all those that are still waiting for approvals and interviews. Lord, I know that without you WE are nothing and with you WE are everything. Lord, all these things I pray to you in your precious and only name to please give us your STRENGTH, your LOVE, your GUIDANCE to do all that is right by you. I know the devil is lurking, but I have the ALL MIGHTHY standing next to me, beside me, in front of me and behind me.

The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green Pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake,
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever

AMEN!

I love you guys.

ok, so now the drama is the medical people are saying they wont have the medical in time for the interview on the 21st. Embassy wrote me and of course my interview is still the same 10/21, but Evan made his appointment and the quickest they have is next thursday. So now he wont have his forms in time. What does this mean? Will he get a blue slip to come back to show the medical or will medical send to embassy at a later date and then issue him a pink slip.

I am so stressed to day and emotional I can cry!! I argued with the Mister last night so I am just in a bad mood, then I was gonna apologize to him, but of course his phone NEVER gets ANY of my texts so he never calls me when I want him to. I cant call him, so I just wait. When I finally hear from him he doesnt even have the number for the medical people to call them. I have to find it and he calls them and gets this mess about not getting medical done in time. So now I am running around emeiling the embassy and asking what i should do. I dont know what to do!!

Hi Hotlegz, are you saying once ours cases gets forward to Kingston Embassy, we have to wait an additional 4 months to get an interview date? I thought it was once we were assigned an interview date from NVC it was then forward to the Kingston Embassy? Now I'm confuse.

Once your case is forwarded (CR1/IR1) you have a date

Yeah, he's just frustrated. Me and the Mr. have issues too once it gets to the 4 month mark. I think thats when your faith is tested and the devil is released to try an reck havoc on your lives. It is very difficult to be away from the person you are in a relationship with. After awhile you start to forget them and who they are cause you are only left with memories. Then your mind starts to play tricks on you. I say its worth $600 to visit your husband and cater to your marriage. Your marriage is a priceless jewel. If you can lock in a ticket now, go for it. It will truly rejuvenate your relationship to be together.

Keep the faith. I am praying that September gives us waiting some good news. Even if I dont get a date but other VJ'ers do I know that the embassy is moving and making there way towards me.

I noticed on the kingston embassy website they are starting to schedule August dates...Just a suggestion to Tash, Forbes, Kishmar, you guys should call the DOS 202# and see if they got you scheduled for August...didn't Trulo get his interview date on April 30 and the DOS# was the one who told him???....I feel anxious for you guys...I want to see ya'll in the august bunch.... blush.gif ...

I was not aware of the fact that the DOS can tell you anyting until your case is sent to Kingston. Trulo said that his case was completed on March 7, he received interview for June 3 (he was contacted by them during the first week of May) blush.gif so i dont know what to say. I really hope to hear something from them soon. (actually today is exactly 2 months since my case was completed)

They are both USC's petitions wacko.gif

They are? Why were the cases assigned like 3-5 years ago and just now getting processed? My bad. it sounded like a situation where they were filed by LPR and had to wait for a visa number to come up. Why would their NVC time take so long?

Just for some clarification:

My husband file our I-130 in Sept 05 at that time he was a LPR....he got natrualize in January 08 (at which time our case was upgraded). My cas was completed on April 25, 08 (tomorrow will make 2months).

Hope you all have a better understanding on my case now.

Thanks,
Kishmar

My case has been finally completed yesterday 06.18.2008 per AVR...I am more upset than happy at this point...it took them 37 days to complete my case after they received all my docs...now I am going to probably have to wait until October for an interview....That is such a load of crock... mad.gif ...I will be emailing NVC, Kingston embassy (both the NIV and IV email address)...even though it might be a long shot why not try right....I am going to try to request a date for either August 26 or the 28th since most family based visa's has been on those two days only....I am going down there to celebrate my husband's birthday...even though he is not speaking to me right now.... whistling.gif ...i tried calling him this morning to tell him that our case is finally completed but he is not picking up my calls...what a baby.... devil.gif

oh finally i happy for you..... kicking.gif now you have to join the line for the looooooooooong wait on Kingston blink.gif

I really hate the mail system in Jamaica right now...my hubby sent his police record, birth certificate, and copy of his passport to me since last friday but regular mail...he didn't think he needed to send it to me express since at the time we were only in the beginning at NVC but NVC's turnaround was a complete surprise and I am at the end waiting to submit the DS230 and can't since I don't have his docs...I wasn't aware of this at first but I am able to track the mail through usps.com since hubby registered it...It still shows that it hasn't left Jamaica yet...I called usps to confirm and she said yes it is still in Jamaica...six days later... mad.gif ...I just called hubby and told him he needs to go back to the post office and ask them was is the hold up...he didn't sound like he wanted to...he hates confrontations...but I told him this is very important...I would like to get an interview by July and that won't happen if we wait to send the docs....Also, I was reading that we need the new birth certificate now...is that for the NVC stage or the interview stage???...my husband sent me his old version birth certificate...I applied for a new version birth certificate for him online since March and still have not received that yet either...thats another story...I just hope I get that before we get to the interview stage...this is truly more than what I expected... wacko.gif

You need to new version of the BC to send to the NVC. Also your Hubby should have sent the mail via express mails from Ja can take up to three weeks to get to you. I know cause i live here. And he will not be able to retrieve the mail either because it is probably still at the Kingston CSO waiting to be shipped.

Good Luck though,
Kishmar

PS In the future send all mail out of JA via express mail if you really need to get document in time

Ok well I just spoke to him and he said he was hearing about this same day service they may hae now. Some folks in town were talking about it just starting up recently. He's going to a local police station to ask about that option. I'll let you guys know. If anyone wants to ask their SO or family about this service too that would be great.

no such thing as same day service, shortest time is 3 days

Hello All,

Is there really only ONE place to apply for a police certificate? The place on oxford rd, in some town (maybe kingston) that I can't remember? My husband needs to get his ASAP, but he lives clear on the opposite side of the island, and works so he won't be able to get there til next Tuesday. He'll order it for 3 day service but, he won't be able to get back there in 3 days cause he works. So then he'll have to wait til the week following next week to pick up and then he still has to mail it to me. This has now become about a 3 week process. Am I missing something or is this my only option?

Marlita your husband has to go the Oxford Road in New Kingston to pay for the police certificate ($1,000 4 wks or $2,000 3 days) He needs to take with hime 2 passport size photo plus his passport. then he has to go to Duke Street in Down town Kingston to get his fingerprints done. If he has a relative in Kingston he can ask that person to pick up the Police report for him.

good luck

it would be nice if they could make the CR-1 process shorter 12 to 14 months to get a spouse and 6 to 8 months to get a spouse thru k-3 or financee thru k-1 doesn't seem fair. If they are phasing out the k-3 then the cr-1 should be speeded up.

Well on average the CR1 only takes 10-12 months. Many people were getting it done in 9-10 months before this fee hike, so it really isnt' that long. I estimate 10 months for my process...God willing. Some people take longer cause they had a few RFE's, didn't use shortcuts, abnormal security checks...etc etc. I on't understand how the K1 visas are so much faster on average....those seem to be the easiest way for fraud to happen and I would think they would be scrutinized more. I'm not against those that do K1's..let me just put that out there, cause people get sensitive...but i think about it and if a person wanted to move to the US for "false or wrong" pretinses the K1 is the EASIEST way to do it. All you have to do is propose to someone or get someone to propose to you. There's no other legal binding, no checks and balances, thats it. You could get here and flee if you wanted. Of course you'd be considered illegally here, but when has that stopped people before. We all know that you can live perfectly fine in this country without a valid visa. So for USCIS to approve those petitions faster is odd to me...I'd think it would be the other way around.

AMEN!!!!

Marlita,

Thank you so much for starting this thread......it is so much easier than searching the entire website.
We filed our IR-1....sent in all our documents but my hubby got a RFE(NVC said it was sent of March 29...but nothing yet whistling.gif ) I wonder how much longer this letter will take to arrive. My hubby want to travel to Ja. by the end of the week....and ooh by the way im keeping my fingers cross that he gets his US passport by then (He applied on April 9th blush.gif ).

We seem to have so much on our plates. Any suggestions???

Thanks guys,
Kishmar

You know sometimes NVC can generate a "false" RFE because its just saying that its missing documentation that you will eventually be sending to them anyway. Its hard for me to know in your situation because I would need to know what was the last items you sent to NVC before getting the RFE phone notice. In most cases, when the NVC line says something was sent out...it really means something was generated, not when it was mailed out of NVC. Once things are indeed generated they get sent to mailroom and can stay there for up to 2 weeks in some cases. This means that it may take alot longer for the item to reach you than you first anticipated. That sounds like the case with your RFE notice.

Does anyone knows how long it takes the NVC to review a DS-230??? NVC operator told me they received it on April 7th.

Thanks,
Kishmar

Per some other folks timelines it looks like it takes around 2 weeks.

Hi My hubby received the RFE mail last night (April 14th)

Date on the letter says March 29th, Post mark April 11th...

Its amazing how the NVC does things.. I guess one just have to decide on waiting on these people make sure you get it right the first time around so you dont have to deal with longer than necessary

If you don't mind me asking why did you get an RFE??? blush.gif

He did not date the Affidavit of Support form and he did not send in the 2007 taxes/w2

Hey Kimmy, i havnt filed for the consular Report of birth yet, i need his birth certificate to do that still waiting for it, Takes forever in Ja, I just spoke to someone at the Consular Agency in Montego bay, she says he is qualified so i need to pick up the paper work at the office and both parents have to be there to apply when my husband comes back to Jamaica we will sort that out

Hello All, Nice to be back on VJ, i have some Questions, My Son is now 2 months old is he qualified for the consular report of birth? i read that he is qualified, On the Ds230 forms page 2, says list names, dates, place of birth of any children, i listed my son's name, question 21 a, says persons named in 14 and 19 who will accompany you to the united states now i put my son's name again, now my husband got a letter from nvc saying that children, spouse ect needs there own petition, i am confused, he is mailing the letter to me so i can explain more. i hope they are not saying that he needs to file for the baby he is a US Citizen so our child ahould qualify for the consular report of birth. there is no way i am leaving my child, i am emailing the embassy will keep you guys posted.
