Did you call today?

No, my wife (the petitioner) will be waiting until next Monday to call back, since this was told her on Friday when she called.

Oh, well I guess if you are still waiting then it must be true then. When did you get case complete?

Case got completed from the 16th of this month, and we are still made to wait a whole month for an interview date.

I'm interested in the answer too, as this is what we were told by them last week that we'll have to wait until the second week of August.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI opened my eyes!!!

I can't believe what kind of replies are being posted in this thread. Congratulations? Really?

I'm sorry OP, but what you did was morally very wrong and you should feel guilty irrespective of the final outcome.

And NO. The fiance visa is NOT there for yanking someone out of their lives just to play with their hearts for 90 days and then go about "deciding" whether you want to go through with it or not. Genuine fiance visa candidates likely migrate to the US by completely burning their boats once ashore. They leave their jobs, their loved ones behind. Likely sell all of their property and even their homes when moving to the US. They do that in hopes of creating a new life with their significant others and not because they want to be told it just "doesn't feel right" three days later.

This isn't a child's game that you up and quit. Any reservations and doubts you have about your significant other, clear them out BEFORE starting the application process. Those 90 days are there so the couple has ample time to obtain a marriage license and easily complete the legal procedures required in order to obtain a marriage certificate. They are NOT there to play 20 questions and deciding whether or not you want to "go through with this."

The decision to "go through with it" was made the moment you filed that petition!

What are people congratulating the OP for? For having someone uproot their entire life for them, meanwhile having doubts that they even WANTED to be with the person?

People who don't take this process seriously boggle my mind. This isn't a process so you can have someone come to the US and try them out for a little while. If you aren't 100% sure you want to marry this person, don't file the petition. And definitely don't wait until the beneficiary has moved EVERYTHING to say "hm, maybe this isn't a good idea."

I by no means condone the guy for the "sexting" nonsense, but let's be real, nobody here deserves a congratulations.

So you expected/wanted HIM to be honorable and 'think this through' ... but you admit you had doubts for MONTHS and let him move anyway. Where's your responsibility in this? Or do you get a free pass because he turned out to be a 'dog'? Honorable. Please.

What these two said... I'm in agreement.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa Status Update

Well, he didn't request to pick it up ahead of time. He lives in Kingston and has a deliverable address. So I guess they will just deliver it. I checked the DHL website again and it says it's on the truck for delivery:-)

Yeah it will be delivered to the address he wrote on the DHL yellow slip he got at the front desk since he lives in Kingston. I live in Portmore, so mine was delivered to my home yesterday. I was seeing picked up for delivery the day before I actually receive it on the DHL site, so he can expect to get it on Monday.

Do you need to arrange for pickup ahead of time...like at the Embassy when you pay the DHL fee?

Where did you're finance put that he wants to pick it up? Usually if there's no delivery address like a lot places in the country, pick up will be at the closest DHL. He would just have to call DHL first.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa Status Update

Yea i dont understand u already had your interview, u passed, so wheres your visa? This must be a jamaica embassy thing, in the phil its usually 3-5 days later u get ur passport back

It's not a Jamaican embassy thing, the US Embassy here in Jamaica has been issuing visa on average 0f 3-5 days too, both for immigrant and none-immigrant. I had my interview on Monday. Got my visa yesterday. I don't know about everyone going through AP after interview. If that were the case the waiting time for visa for everyone would be longer. All the necessary checks are usually done during the length of time filing the petition takes. Some case get put into AP after an interview for several reasons: further background checks, further verification of co-sponsor's info, etc.

I do feel for you OP. I hope them telling you that everything looks good means you will be out of AP soon and the visa issued. All the best.

The comforting thing here after this outcome is that unlike many others, what you do make you so flexible that you can be down here frequently while waiting for the one year to run off. I wish you all the best and hope that everything will work out.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVISA DENIED...NEW LIGHT

I think you might want to look into whether or not he is required to enter into some sort of official rehab program before successfully reapplying for the visa. While he has a one year ban I believe there is more to it than simply sitting out the 1 year. I'm fairly certain I've read other postings about this.

Regarding the other posts about whether or not you should take a look at your relationship, I do think it would show his determination to be with you if he successfully completed some sort of drug rehab. Not just to you but also to the embassy people. Yes, I know marijuana is a relatively 'mild' drug compared to so many others out there, but the uscis does take it seriously so applicants should too if they want a successful visa process.

Good luck.
S

This is perhaps a great suggestion. I'm really sorry to hear about this situation. I can imagine how you must be feeling. In moving forward... this suggestion could help him not only to stay clean, but to show that since his interview he has been proactive, as it is most likely it will be mentioned in a future interview even if he passes that medical. Having evidence that he went through rehabilitation should work in his favor.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy CR-1 visa interview is next week I NEED HELP!!!

It is this kind of foolishness that makes certain VJERS say things like "Nigeria is the highest fraud consulate" "Nigerians are scammers and will do anything to get to America" "Nigerians know every trick in the book",etc. If your marriage is over your "wife" does not have to bring you to the states to divorce. She can contact a lawyer and make it happen. You say you never considered the money you were sending to help her, because she was your wife, but somehow you now seem to think your efforts entitles you to attend an interview for the purpose of still getting here. What do you do for employment that can possibly allow you to send any type of substantial funds here when 1 US dollar is presently worth 155 Naira?? As for you now having a girlfriend and in love with her, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!! You can't pretend to be devestated about what your wife is doing and then find love the following month. That pseudonym is definitely befitting!

Sounds like you found some young chick to pay off in exchange for a visa and now the plot is unraveling. You're hoping that you can get the visa, come to the US, get the divorce, and quickly marry this new person. Just shameless!

Sorry, but I can't see things any differently from this poster. The OP's story sounds too fishy to me.

could you tell me what AP means? and thank you for ur reply. congrats to you and your wife i hope u two get to be wit each other soon as well, its not easy at all being away from ur spouse especially when expecting lol.

Thanks, I know we can both relate here. :). AP means administrative processing. Sometimes after someone is approved they are not immediately issued a visa. Their case goes into AP. From what I've read here, this can be for weeks or months, and in rare cases, even years. It's where they conduct further background checks and so forth. Hopefully neither of us will have to go through that.

You're in the same position as me and my wife, she is expecting, mostly not until December/January. However, I'm still optimistic about an August interview, though we are still waiting for confirmation from NVC that the package I sent was received. We've been at the NVC stage for almost two months, so it would be great if it works out for August. I hope the same for you and your husband.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCrossroads

At my end... I think your just frustrated with this whole process (especially being denied the 1st time). Don't let that get to you. I know its hard and if you really love him you should talk with him about this. If he is being unsupportive tell him you need his support. You've come so far to give up. No one (in my surroundings) knows what I am going thru with this immigration stuff and they will never understand. I sometimes feel like I have no one to talk to. I was so happy when I found this website. Keep your head up girlie! This too shall pass. :)

I can imagine this is how it is with most of us... there aren't many people to relate to when on this journey and experiencing some overwhelming down moments. I can just imagine how hard it is for the OP. From a man's perspective... us guys sometimes deal with the frustration associated with the distance a bit differently from women. While the woman will talk and at times ramble about the frustration they feel, we tend to internalize our own feelings. We'll get distant and at times appear emotionally numb, but internally we are just as bothered and worn out. It's just that part of our nature of being guys. We want to always appear strong and compose, as we don't want to appear weak.

However, at the end of the day, it is important that our partner knows that our reaction is not a sign that we have checked out emotionally and no longer care as much. I sometimes get like that too, then when my wife points it out to me, and I see how much it is hurting her, I try to be a bit more vocal about my feelings. It may take writing her a lengthy email to reassure her and give her some insight into what is really going on in my head, and let her know she's not in this alone.

OP, you mentioned the internet and communication challenge caused by faulty internet... how about if you too resorted to writing a daily email to each other to use as your main source of communication, since VIOP or phone calls is something you don't have the option of doing frequently? Emails don't require a lot of bandwidth, and you'll be able to know if it's sent successfully. This could ease some of the frustration, as the main problem you both are having is communication. So maybe you want to mention email communications to him, and you could initiate it by writing a lengthy email outlining how you feel and how you'd like things to improve.

OP, I wish you all the best.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Interview Date
What I gather from reading a lot of reviews of interview from the embassy in Jamaica, the USC is allowed to enter the compound of the embassy, but is not allowed to be present at the interview. They are told to wait in the courtyard of the embassy.

For me, I really want my wife to be present. I'd feel more at ease knowing she's there to support me, as she's so good at giving an encouragement speech. She is also a much better organizer, so having her helping me to prepare my package would help a lot. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOE denial

She/he is totally right! K1 visa holder dont have issues most of the times, besides the whole waiting on the immigration room. In a year using visajourney, I only read 1 case and it was back 2003. This person open his package and took his flight without "knowing" that he shouldn't done that. So dont worry and enjoy you flight ;)

Hmmm... that would make #2. The one I was talking about occurred a few months ago. It was also a K1. The gentleman claimed he went to pick his fiance, who was from China, at the airport. Instead he was told by immigration that she was denied entry. He said he wasn't given any reason why. People here were speculating that she either opened the letter or gave wrong answers to questions asked. Anyhow, the op doesn't have much to worry about.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOE denial
Poe denials are very rare. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've only seen one case here on VJ, and the reason for denial was not made clear here. Some possible reasons would be tampering with "do not open" letter, giving wrong or false answers to questions asked, trying to smuggle drugs, etc.

Outside the above, all usually goes well.

Yes I know I must of sent out like 50 emails lol sometimes 5 a day after seeing the same email over and over they will respond...there is no way to talk to them through phone...only way I talked to them through phone is when the embassy called I noticed only certain ques I asked them they email back...some ques I asked they never email back since the visa issued and they made a mistake im sure they will email back soon....as soon as I told them they made a mistake about my case they emailed me within that day...so its pick and choose to them im assuming

That sounds good then. I hope she hears from them by Monday, as it's been tough for both of them, first AP then this. So hopefully it gets resolved soon and her fiance home with as soon as possible.

I called embassy like 10x before a woman answers and say sorry im just a operator if you have questions...email embassy..since you emailed embassy enough times u just have to wait I guess :( they have up to 5 business days to answer if they dont put in your subj: 2nd attempt

I've seen other people here mentioned that they have called the Embassy in Kingston and got to speak to someone concerning their issues. If she or her fiance get that sort of response, then maybe the fastest thing to do is to call DOS and try to confirm what another poster said earlier in the thread, that it won't be a big issue since it's her name that was wrong and not her fiance.
