US Citizenship General DiscussionN400 January 2011 Filers
Hi all -

So we're filing today, but I feel like we don't count as December filers since it won't get there until the new year....so I hope it's ok for me to start a thread for those filing in January.

Hoping I've got everything we need.

For the documents referring to "you and your spouse" (number 4 on the checklist) if we just include our children's birth certificates should that suffice? I had all of the other stuff together a few years ago when we removed conditions, but I would love to not have to put all that together if we don't have to - any thoughts?

Looking forward to seeing who else is filing :)

CanadaThings to do to make my Canadian feel at home.
I think you two are so freaking cute.

I don't have too much advice - I had similar questions when Stewart got here - but really I think it's less about doing CANADIAN stuff and more about just making space for him in your life and in your home. Does that make sense?

Hee hee.

LOVE the pic in bobkatzs' profile though. What a cute couple.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUh oh!

Uh, you do acknowledge that some post from experience rather than opinion?

Absolutely. I think I meant to PUT experience but I'm absent minded ;)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUh oh!
I suppose we can agree to disagree then :) Have a great weekend.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUh oh!

wherein I wasn't offering relationship advice, but stating my own experience

Ummm hello...that's what we are aLL doing. Did you write a discalimer...I am NOT a therapist so take this for what it's worth? Do you not see how hypocritical that is...how do you people WONT read it and take your advice thinking you're some kind of expert. How is THAT any different from offering our experience with immigration???
CarolineMFemaleAustralia2006-09-29 10:56:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUh oh!
Well then what's the point of this WHOLE forum. If every post you offer is just "Contact an atty..." Then why have this here at all???

No, an immigration atty is NOT needed for every situation, question and case...

Also I think it's clear that just because someone offers advice - (and I've even seen you do it...) that they are NOT an immigration atty and are just speaking from personal opinion.

This is a member supported immigration help site...if it were run by all immigration attys it would say so...

Hmmm...

Is this you pretending to be a relationship expert or therapist???
CarolineMFemaleAustralia2006-09-29 08:36:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUh oh!

My only point is, as I say (and will continue to say), there's no lack of people here that are willing to bet your immigration status on their ego trips and possibly faulty advice.

You *ARE* including yourself in this statement....right?

HEHE He prides himself on that. That's like...his party trick...if we're out he'll ask me to spout off Aussie knowledge. His fave is having me recite all the states with their capitals!! He gets a kick out of it.

I LOVED the boxing day test. We had such a blast. I still have my jersey! We are going to the World Cup in St. Kitts in March.! We got tix for the Aussie/south africa game.

Excited doesn't do it justice :)
We don't have kids, yet...but also want to move back by the time they are school aged...so we have time. We are waiting about another 2 years...then we'll have 5 before they start school - so we're good to go!

Good luck with your removal of conditions ;)

I'm the USC, but my husband is from Geelong.

We are going back over xmas again for his sister's wedding :)

I love Melbourne! (much more than Sydney - the only other place in Oz I've really been...) but don't tell anyone :)

I love the whole Aussie nickname thing. Stew's brother calls me "Cazza" Dunno if that's how you spell it - but everyone down there gets a nick name :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHas somebody sent pictures as a proof of relationship?
I KNEW I should have thought of that. I just threw away ALL of our x-mas cards!! That's ok, there's always next year!

Good luck!

So...we have a ways to go before applying for removal of conditions, but what kind of things can I be doing now to prepare?

* We have both our names on the title to our new car
* Joint bank accounts
* Both names on mortgage
* Both names on Car insurance

Do I need to like...stockpile documentation or would a few statements or bills close to the interview suffice?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionIt's that time...and a question
Hi all! Stewart and I are nearing our window and I've started looking at all the things we need to do. Here's my question. The summer before we got married, Stewart got a DUI in the states. We stated that during our initial immigration *stuff* and in our interview and everything else. It was deemed not a CIMT and it was fine. That was the summer of 2005. Now, with the removal stuff, it asks if he's been arrested or whatever. Are they talking just in general, ever? Or since he's immigrated to the states? He hasn't been in any trouble since...not even a parking ticket..

thoughts?

Thanks guys!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHere's What we've got.
We don't. We own, but I bought it before he had moved over here. It's a hassle to get him officially on the mortgage, and expensive, so we decided not to do it. Hopefully it won't sink us.

Thanks for the reassurance ya'll

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHere's What we've got.
Hi all - we're filing right after the new year - but since we'll be out of town for most of xmas, we're getting it all together now. Here we go:

1. The form, obviously.
2. Copies of his green card.
3. Copies of both of our DL showing the same address.
4. Various bank account statements (joint account) over the past two years.
5. Tax returns filed jointly from 2005, 2006
6. Both of our life insurance policies showing eachother as the sole beneficiary.
7. Cingular phone statements with both of our names on it.
(our electric nor cable can physically put both names on them...)
8. A letter from Geico stating that we have both been insured on the same policy for two years.
9. Papers from truck we bought in both of our names
10. His AMEX bill and Truck payment that come to our house in his name only.
10a. Our gym membership with both our names on bill
11. Affadavits from two friends and my parents.
12. Ticket stubs from three separate trips (St Kitts, Boston and West Virginia)
13. Cards, letters, etc sent to both of us

And that's it.

Thoughts? (I know it's probably good, but I need approval since everyone in my life says, "Why do you even have to do this?")

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHelp me with I-175
I, too, am not submitting any lease/mortgage because it was WAY too much work and money to get him on the mortgage...plus we are hoping to move soon (of course we have been for months now...). You are not the only one without that ONE specific piece of evidence, and others have been approved without it. Stewart and I are in the same boat.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDo we have to remove conditions??! direct consular filing
I *think* you don't have to do this until his green card expires. Look at the date on his GC. If it's expiring w/i 90 days, then I think you need to do it. If it doesnt' expire for 8 more years, I'd say you're good.

We did DCF as well, but only got a 2 year card.

Is your lawyer "volunteering" free of charge? That's pretty nice.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDo you really have to informed the USCIS if you change your home address every now and then?
Absolutely - it's part of the agreement when you come here that you have to notify them of address changes. It's in all their literature!!!

It's easy to do, you just have to DO it!!! smile.gif Good luck.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEnough evidance for remove of condition??
If you loved your life in Germany so much, and you feel your marriage is ending, then why not go back to Germany? It just seems to make sense?

Collie is right anyway - it seems to early to be filing - but there's no timeline so I can't be sure.

Either way, good luck with whatever you decide.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVSC and Visa Questions
I can only respond to your first question - we filed with TSC, were transferred to VSC and they sent us the extension letter...so we got one.

Hopefully someone else can address the second one!
