Steve - No woman will ever be good enough for you, no matter where she is from. Every word you have written screams of misogyny and I believe that you have some serious self-esteem issues. Steve, from my heart - learn to love yourself first and then you will be ready to accept the love of someone else and return it. Stop looking for a relationship until you are comfortable with yourself first.

I just love it. Another thread that turns into the old "American women are evil fat gold diggers".

I could go and start a thread that is all about lazy fat abusive American men, but why would I? I know that there are plenty of women here that would have stories to back this up, but an intelligent person knows that this is a stereotyping by people that can't seem to move on in their relationships.

please do, i have plenty of popcorn. eb0dfafc.gif

Hey! Can I post here too? Lars and I lived in Russia for a while and he speaks fluent Russian and has interviewed for another job there.....

Of course! And welcome! What were you doing in Russia? What area?

Ahhh.....a lovely little village WAY up north, about 45 minutes from the border of Finland, in the Karelian Forest - Suojarvi. My mom and I visited Lars there for a few weeks when he was there working two years ago. We didn't end up living there because there wasn't any western style housing there, no running water, indoor plumbing, that sort of thing, except at the "hotel" that we were staying in. Lars was there for about 6 months. He was working there for a Danish company that has recently bought out the Russian timber company.

I was able to do things and see things that I had never, ever seen or done before (since I'm from the south ya'll). I saw a TON of snow, walked on frozen lakes, ate ice cream in the winter time.....it was such a great trip.

We drove from St. Petersburg to Petrozavodsk and then on to Suojarvi. It was so much fun driving across that part of Russia and seeing how different it was from St. Petersburg. It was like being in a time warp, sort of. In the region of Karelia, a lot of that area is very poor and rural. It was fun to visit there and really makes me appreciate every little thing that I have here.

LOVED St. Petersburg and will go back as soon as we can!

That sounds like a nice adventure! Did the people without running water end up doing a boiler system for bathing, etc? I've always wanted to see that system in action.

I don't know what they did. I can tell you that the hotel had running water - it was a brownish red color so we didn't drink it, but showered and washed up in it. We saw people of all ages pulling sleds with big old fashioned looking milk cans on them, to and from the community well. We could talk to some of the local people but they did not invite us into their homes. We met almost everyone either at the factory or at the hotel.

Hi there!
Just saw your post, I'm usually on the DCF board as I currently live with my husband in Copenhagen and we just completed the process. It took about 3 months. We've found the embassy to be very helpful throughout. They've always answered our emails promptly and were very accommodating when we had to change our interview date. Both times we were there, first to file the I-130 petition and then for the interview, they were not busy at all and we didn't wait long.

Good luck with your interview!

Thank you so much for your reply. Lars went by the Embassy a few weeks ago and talked to them and agreed with you, they are very nice and helpful there. We are excited to get this behind us and get him moved here. We lived in Landskrona, Sweden for a year and he's in Copenhagen now, waiting. Good luck to you and thanks again!

I've been to Copenhagen quite a few times (lived about 45 min away in Lund, Sweden for a couple years). Copenhagen is such a lovely city in the summer (assuming you have good weather). If I remember correctly, most places will be closed on Sundays or have restricted opening hours, so it kind of depends on what you plan to do there. Monday, however, will return to normal business hours. I would recommend going to Tivoli at night, it's really beautiful and romantic with all the lights, visit Nyhavn (and perhaps take one of the boat tours around the city from there). There's also a lot of great shopping, cafes, and restaurants all throughout the city. Plenty of museums too if that's your thing. I think Copenhagen is definitely worth a visit, even if it's on a Sunday/Monday (but I have such great memories of the place so maybe I'm biased tongue.gif )

We lived in Landskrona a few years ago! Most of the museums in Copenhagen have one day a week that is free.....I can't remember what day though.

Thanks guys. I have heard it is a beautiful city and I have always wanted to go to Tivoli. Taking a boat tour is also a really good idea.

I am a little bit worried about the weather knowing how nice it is right now. I couldn't be so lucky that it stays that way for another two weeks... could I... unsure.gif But if it is raining I guess that is a perfect time to visit some museums. I googled museums and free and found the schedule for which are free and when. A few weeks ago Aftonbladet had a special on Øl-kroer in Copenhagen so at least I have an extensive list of watering holes to visit if it is raining. innocent.gif

Do you know of any good hotels by chance? Right now I am looking at the Grand Hotel which had some great rates and I understand it is close to the train station and everything else.

Eerywhere is expensive.....read the reviews before you book. We have had some "interesting" stays in hotels there. We just usually stay with family now.

Anyone from Copenhagen or who has spent time there in the summer around? The hubby and I are going to Sweden in a couple of weeks (early-mid July). We are flying into Copenhagen and then taking the train to Sweden.

Since neither of us have been to Copenhagen we are thinking of spending a couple of days there before our flight leaves back for the U.S. Unfortunately we will most likely be flying out on a Tuesday so we will spend Sunday and Monday in Copenhagen (we would have preferred Friday/Saturday night).

Does anyone know what Copenhagen will be like on a Sunday/Monday in the summer, if there will be fun places open, nightlife etc? I would assume there will be plenty of things going on during the "prime vacation time" so to speak but I want to make sure since Dave easily gets restless... happy.gif

ChinaYou are right to Question,
I did this so I could read it and understand - not butting in.

Its a bit disconcerning when we hear someone divulge any particular degrading facts about a system which
is designed to bring our wifes, fiances, and Asian Friends to the states. Its a disaster to contend that all views are offeri-
ing a context that evades our own trust of the systems in place, which have offered only happiness to so many applicants.

Its a rebuttal that does not register, as many people are similarily passing their interviews with ease. The ones they
see receiving the other color slips make them happy not to be one of those people and soon you forget them and are
pleased with your own good luck of having all the players in place and your home-run intact.

Naturally the people whom were not passed spent the same kind of money, went to the same places (or like places),
had the same physicals, endured the long waits. Rode the same familiar transportation to the interviews and other areas in the course of finalizing the documents. These are the common areas which most share. Their thoughts are all about the United States and will they pass the Interviews.

Then about those at the final moments and you watch other people leave with white slips, Pink and sometimes another
color. You are the twentieth person and the last for today. Out of twenty people you are the only one to manage a Visa
acceptance. Just what was wrong with so many before you that did not pass such dismal short interview. (Do You really
care? You have your Visa.) The formalities are over and when you go down the stairs none of the women before you
who did not get a Visa, are gone. Only ones lingering are all those whom passed. Smiling, laughing, happy, just like you are.

What could be wrong with a system which makes so many women happy?! What could be wrong with a system that
is responsible for so many women that are not happy?!

Yes you can question those whom are very hurt and question those whom make seemingly unwarranted, capsizing
and questionable defamatory remarks against a system which is absolutely unfair in merit as well justified. The remarks which we do not agree with are welcomedor perhaps the person would not have openly opened themselves to debate and so much critisms and harsh defending attitudes towards a system which did not alter their lives at all and fail to realize you do not have to be a proffessional to have your life altered by subbordinate officials and have a Visa denied.

This changes your life as much as having a visa granted .

When Notable Lawyers take the case to further levels in the states and their clients are being denied visas and he
has to refund the money for his services is not productive. When a respected and reknown lawyer from a large city
in the states begins having denials in the Guangzhou Embassy and the others are not, there is a problem. When the
lawyer travels to other countries and into China, many times throughout the year ,and has done it for 18 years or more
and denotes Guangzhou as the trouble area, its realative. So you have a right to question the facts as you dont know
them, not even aware of taking place in your new world of applying for a Visa. You should ask questions. I am very
doubtful as the lawyer, that the Consulate are really going to go Public with all these new requirements they manifest
to gain extra revenue, and have it taken away from them. The lawyer, was here for ten days and was treated no differently than an applicant. When he also asked questions, and was given no direct answers why his clients very seldom are receiving Visas. This Lawyer is not a stranger to the Guangzhou Embassy after visiting once a year.

Yes, question me and doubt, for thats what this forum is to functioning as. Remember, we all learn new information in our lives and when we should be made aware of changes, known or unknown, we must have a good idea of what we are defenfending before we become familiar with any new facts that are subjective to a system which most people are comfortable with.

For the Nay Sayers and questionable characters such as myself, I will let you find the lawyers I am describing, and
see if you can research and find their office and its satalite offices around the world with the main office being in the
states. Then at a later time, I will then tell you his name and where his office is. Then if you have had any bad luck
or know some stories that are really bad experiences about the Guangzhou Embassy, to join the list which the lawyer
is preparing for Washington to change the things which need changing for Americans who want Visas, and cant have
them because of actual discrimination,of the applicants and their Petitions.

Trust me, This is all real, and not from other forums.

This lawyer is on the way to helping me to help get the visa. My wife and me met the requirements and because
of the obvious,we were denied as such protocol detailed in the new HomeLand Security Measures for returning Americans and their wives. Think about it!!!

My pleasure.

First they tell you your petition is going, then they say it's in AP, then they say they can't tell you anything, then they tell you again, it's going, now there is no shipment. #######???!!!!

I think that you need to wait until tonight and check again. I think that they send them out at different times and it may get dumped into a big batch of DHL packages waiting to be processed. I don't think that when they say it's going out today that it means that it leaves at that moment.

Welcome Missy, Sorry you have to be here

Thanks! And, if I have to be here, I guess I can't ask for better company, right? Maybe it won't be too long for us!

Thanks for the good thoughts. I am okay so far, just aggravated. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that they use this time to make sure we get sent to Brazzaville and NOT Copenhagen!

Your wife should sneak back home and you go marry her overthere, but don't let them know that she ever came here....

FYI - Its a good idea to refrain from suggesting actions that could be/prove-to-be misleading, circumventing the system, or possibly illegal on VJ. good.gif

I agree, it's this kind of answer that kicks off a lot of misunderstandings good.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 Obsolete per Ombudsman
We're K1 but latlely we've had to seriously think about if it's the right way for us to go now....changes in jobs and other things. None are good options, in my opinion.

I do believe that folks that have been married, especially long term, deserve to be togther sooner.

We all complain about the lack of equity in the processing of the applications - but, if they were to start sorting out applications based on time together, where they were, what type of application it was, etc.....who would make THOSE decisions and would it be more fair or less fair? Wouldn't everyone just try harder to move their situation over to the next easiest way and create another delay due to demand?

As flawed as the system is, is there a better way to do it? I don't know....
