Toooooooo quiet in here this afternoon!

Any touches, Richard? Missy? Not that a lack means anything—I didn't have any before my NOA2 last night.

Nothing except an email from Congressman Greg Harper's office. They talked to the USCIS adjudicator and it's there for adjudication.....whatever that means. I've probably irritated them so much that they are going to hang on to mine a few extra days just on principle.

I also talked to the embassy in Brazzaville this morning. Boy, was that fun!! They are supposed to email me back but the gist of what I got out of them was this - the "colleague" that handles Immigrant Visas is out for a few weeks and won't be able to answer my questions until his return.

They speak HEAVILY accented English. Think Clouseau and Pink Panther and add some African in there.....you want a reeeeeuuuum????? This is a minkey! Do you have a massage for me?? They were very nice, just a very large language barrier and a poor connection.

lol..I love my facebook! My family is all over the place so its a nice way to keep up with everyone and post pics of the kids etc.

I started my facebook page the year I moved to Sweden. It was a fantastic way to share what was going on in my life and to keep up with the kids. They were SO AGGRAVATED by it at first but after a week, when all of their friends were MY friends, they had to accept it and now we love it.

Rich - you are getting ready to have a house full of kids, you better get with it!!

Good morning everyone, been up since 3:00....ugh! Richard, today is YOUR day!

how about today it OUR day? smile.gif morning missy miss

I'll take that! I called the embassy in Brazzaville this morning. The connection was awful, so I called back and then got voice mail. I emailed them and will attempt the phone call again later on. I don't know what to think about that phase of this. I have complained a lot about waiting to get through this part but I have a feeling that what is coming my way next is going to make this last bit look like a vacation!

I am so happy for all of the approvals that came yesterday!

my personal experience with Warsaw has been wonderful... as opposed to the USCIS. I am hopeful that once you are out of the USCIS hell... that you will be able to navigate the rest with relative ease smile.gif

I am not getting my hopes up today... I dont think I can take another disappointment this week

There are a lot of March filers out there....I know what you mean about no more disappointment.

Compared to Republic of Congo, Warsaw is like.....Atlanta would be to Podunk Holler. Atlanta has nice new computers, a big international airport, malls, mass transit....all the things we love. Podunk Holler just got the lights back on and they inherited some OLD IBM desktop computers from the county next door.....and in Podunk Holler, they speak English but it ain't like the English we hear in Atlanta.

It will be an adventure for sure! They were super nice, we just couldn't hear each other and their phones sounded like two tin cans connecte with some string!

Not doing that great, to tell you the truth. Five months and no NOA, not even a touch since April 1—it's really getting to me.

I was really hoping to fly to Korea October 1 to spend Seollal (the Korean harvest festival, roughly analogous to Thanksgiving) with Elisha and her family, then bring her home around the 9th or 10th. With each passing day, the possibility of that happening fades. We've got all the Packet 3.5 forms filled out and documents gathered. Medicals and interview dates in Seoul are very quick—but we can't do anything without that blasted NOA2, and these twits at USCIS are blowing through April while our petition gathers dust somewhere.

I read this on my crackberry while sitting in CE meeting and I have been itching to respond. I think that your approval is just around the corner and you will be able to fly out. October 1 is still over a month away. You have been a great support for the rest of us, WE NEED YOU!!! Hang in there a little longer, things will work out for you just fine. You are lucky. I did manage to write earlier, you know the embassy and it sounds fast!

Yeah, I read your response to someone in another thread about planning their wedding and leaving plenty of time.....I laughed and then sort of teared up when I read it. I feel ya! The good thing for you is that you know what to expect at the embassy. We have no idea what it will be like when we finally make it to the Congo. I'm pretty scared about that.

Missy, can you call the embassy and make a friend? It was difficult in Warsaw but ultimately I was able to get a lot of help by talking to many different people.

well....as a matter of fact I have printed out the pertinent information for the embassy in Kinshasha and Brazzaville since I'm not sure which one we'll go to! And, I give good phone so I feel sure that if these people can be schmoozed, I can schmooze them! (did I spell that right?)

That's my plan for tomorrow. Today I called my Congressman. His office was very nice and helpful and we've already sent a Congressional Enquiry over to USCIS. It won't do any good but at least they are working for the voter(s).

and I am sick of people blaming other month filers cause their NOA2 hasn't arrived yet. Be bitter all you want but place the blame where it belongs. People really need to look at the big picture here....should I curse others cause they can get interviews in as little as 3 days while my consulate is saying 4-6 months? I don't think so. Some of us "April" filers are here rooting for you and its mean to say the least to keep knocking us here or coming onto the April thread to do so. I would like to think that if I got my NOA2 tomorrow people would be happy for me but the last week I've seen that it just ain't so...... sad.gif

If you got approved today, I would be very happy for you! I had a bad day and I'm sorry. If I didn't send love your way.... heart.gif heart.gif here's some.

I sooooooooooooooooooooooooo can relate... for me it was getting the children here so they could start school when everyone else did, when that didnt happen it was a pretty bad few days... then it get better... and now it is worse again wink.gif

How long does it take to get an interview at your Embassy? it is 2 months for warsaw.. but they said they would do everything they could to expedite an interview in a few weeks time... maybe your embassy would or could do something similar? We have everything done.. the medical and everything... Can Elisha have hers yet? I have forgotten if she had it already or not... sorry

Chin up bud... we will get there... I promise!

Thanks Richard.

September and October are apparently slow months at the Seoul embassy—Elisha says she could have an interview in as little as 3 days. She hasn't had the medical yet—she needs her SEO case number from NVC first—but again, it's a walk-in affair, takes less than an hour, and results are available the same day. The only thing we're waiting on is NOA2.

Hey Missy!

In hopefully the last "waiting" phase before I can be together with my SO. The packet was sent from Moscow on the 11th of September, but she hasn't received it yet (hopefully in the next few days). The interview was scheduled for the 20th of November (I know so far away!). My SO has already asked me if it was possible to move the date up! I wish it was! jest.gif

The good thing is, we have a date that we can count down to, so it's so bad. Marking one day off at a time kicking.gif . Hoping everything goes well and she'll be here in early December. The perfect Christmas gift blush.gif

Happy to see march still hanging around, even if there are a few stutters here and there. No Approval yet Missy? Crazy. It's coming wink.gif Same for Richard, you and your security checks! No security clearances ever? Must be special devil.gif

The thread has slowed quite a bit in the past month, but glad to see the same faces tongue.gif

I've run everyone else off with my constant complaining. Like I said the other day, someone call the WAAAMMbulance, she's whining again.

You are so lucky that progress is being made and you have the interview date. Things are moving right along and November 20th is less than 2 momths away!! I'm thrilled for you guys!

The Honorable Janice L. Jacobs
Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs
United States Department of State
2201 C Street, NW
Washington, District of Columbia 20520

Re: Petition for Alien Fiancée at National Visa Center
Case Number: SEO...
Beneficiary: ... DOB: ...
Petitioner: ... DOB: ...
Name of Correspondent: ... (Petitioner)

Dear Ambassador Jacobs:

I am writing to you in the hopes that, in your capacity as Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs with principal responsibility for the issuance of visas and oversight of the National Visa Center, you can assist my fiancée and me with our case. My repeated requests for assistance to the National Visa Center by email and regular mail have gone unanswered. I simply do not know where else to turn.

On August 31, 2009, NVC received our approved I-129F Petition for Alien Fiancée and entered it into their system. Since then, our case has disappeared into "additional processing." It is my understanding that NVC policy is to forward approved I-129Fs to the listed consulate within a week of receipt from USCIS. Based on my research, the vast majority of I-129Fs are sent onward within 2 to 4 days. Ours has been at NVC for nearly three weeks, with no indication when it might be forwarded and no explanation for the delay.

My fiancée and I made every effort to include all required documentation in our I-129F submission, and I am confident that our petition was complete and correct in every respect. Neither I nor my fiancée has ever been arrested or charged with a crime, much less convicted of one. My fiancée and I met while I was resident in Korea, and she is a highly educated individual with an impeccable resume; the bona fides of our relationship are beyond reproach. I am unable to fathom any reason for this excessive and unreasonable delay.

(Elisha) and I have already endured five months of waiting for USCIS to adjudicate our I-129F petition. While I recognize that your office has no control over that agency, you can exercise influence and oversight over the NVC. This stage of the process has already taken multiple times longer than average. The continued prolongation of this process imposes daily heartbreak upon (Elisha) and me. Moreover, it constitutes an immense logistical and financial hardship to us, as we can make no plans for our reunion and marriage while our petition is held hostage to the arbitrary whim of a contract facility. Finally, this delay reflects incredibly poorly upon the United States of America: (Elisha's) family, friends, and colleagues cannot understand why our country does not welcome a person of such high personal and professional caliber, but rather continues to subject her to unwarranted and unreasonable delays. I have no explanation to offer them, and am left only with embarrassment and shame for the land of my birth.

Therefore, I respectfully request that you do everything in your power to ascertain the status of our case and see that it be forwarded to Seoul at the earliest possible opportunity. (Elisha) and I will be eternally grateful for whatever assistance you can provide to us in this regard. I may be reached at the points of contact listed above should you require any further information. I look forward to your prompt response.

Respectfully, etc.

GREAT letter!

I respectfully disagree with you. I believe that mine will sit for a while yet. I am beginning to suspect that what I was told the other day is actually true - when you have congressional enquiries, it slows the process down. I have had both a senator and congressman working on this for me and maybe that was my mistake. I really need to just forget about it for a while and get knee deep in planning our trip and other stuff.

MAGGIE IS COMING TODAY!!! I am pretty excited that she will be here this weekend! We will cook and watch movies and stay up all night talking.....YAY YAY YAY!!! That's worth a snoopy dance too, don't you agree?

I am glad Maggie is coming over... gals weekend!! cool beans...

You know, you can disagree with me all you want 'kiddo' tongue.gif (I am MAN, therefor I am WRONG) smile.gif I find it hard to believe that an inquiry from a congressman slows the process down... I mean... let me articulate...

1) Congressman emails the Congressional Unit at the VSC
2) Congressional unit puts an inquiry into the 'system' (what ever that is)
3) Adjudicator assigned the case gets the inquiry
4) Adjudicator looks at the file and sees what the deal is
5) Adjudicator emails the Congressional Unit a response
6) Congressional unit emails the Congressman's Immigration Specialist
7) Immigration Specialist emails, calls, write you

I do not believe the the Adjudicator gets the file and sends it to the Congressional Unit... which in my humble opinion, is the only way that could really slow the process down in any significant way.

But then... ####### do I know smile.gif

Well....she said that they were in the process of verifying the documents requested in the RFE.....you got a point. This may really be "whooey" since I just assumed that they knew what the documents were......

I am not going to call anymore though. And this time, I mean it. It is the worst thing I can do right now. Whatever the hell it is that they are doing - I don't even care anymore. I told Lars this morning that if we don't have the visa by October then when we are together in November we need to go ahead and get married and file CR1. I think that I am angry at the lack of transparency in this process. I sent in a stack of documents that was over 2 inches thick, these forms contain information about me, my family, his family.....everything but my shoe size and blood type. I think that we should be able to know where we are in the process and what information is missing, needs vetting......for instance, if I knew for a fact that they were indeed vetting his divorce documents I would feel okay about it. I would know that it's not sitting somewhere covered in dust and cookie crumbs.

I feel like saying the F word, the mother of all curse words, the F - - - word.

Well, the next logical step is for them to resume working on the missing documents... so that is not a stretch in concept... I just find it hard to actually believe that the call center knows anything about that. When you call them about the RFE, they dont know what it is for.... so I am very skeptical that they know they are working on the divorce stuff. And if we have to provide them with certified copies of the document.. complete with the official stamp from the clerks office... what is needed to verify it?

The letter that the Congressional unit sent to me said that they contact outside agencies when necessary... ok... fair enough... and they have to wait on those agencies... ok... again fair enough... I just have a problem believing that 'my' file is actually waiting some 'other' agency information.

But again, who knows... we are all in the blind... and I agree wholeheartedly Missy, there is no transparency whatsoever. The new website, wont make that any better either... since they wont post up where the file is any more than they do know.

I am firmly in the camp that we will see July filers approved before the end of September... and at least for me (NO RFE) I will have to wait until after October 1st. Yours, with the RFE stands a reasonable chance of getting processed before the end of September, IMHO.

I respectfully disagree with you. I believe that mine will sit for a while yet. Richard, I called again and got a little more information about what may be going on with mine, and possibly yours. I asked the usual questions and I also wanted to know when I would officially be outside of normal processing times. Each letter you receive from the VSC says you will have a response within 60 days. I wanted to know if my 60 day sentences ran consecutively or concurrently.....

The officer told me that they are in the process of verifying Lars' divorce documents which I assume means communicating with Denmark or some third party company that vets these types of documents. The officer asked if any children were involved with my application and she explained that it takes a little longer to verify custody documents, etc....

Now, to quote my good friend Stephen, this may be a load of whooey but.....I know Denmark and the Danes are never in a hurry to do ANYTHING! Poland, I am not so sure about but this may be why you don't have anything just yet.....

That the way to live life and enjoy it. surprised at Danes since its a northern country but because its socialism there then its totally understandable Guys focus on a nice weekend event thought its sucks to have them without loved ones.

If you only knew how long it took to get the divorce you would not believe it. It was the slowest and most agonizing experience......no, wait - THIS is the slowest and most agonizing experience ever. That Danish divorce was the second most....

3 years 8 months before my divorce was finalized after my ex and I split up. All other issues relating to custody and settlement had to be cleared up first. Even if everything else was agreed upon the day we split it still takes 1 year of being separated before you can even start the divorce.

My exhusband and I....we were on the 5 year party plan for our divorce. I filed and he delayed and delayed and delayed until I wanted to hire a hit man. The kids were grown and gone by the time he got tired of the game.

Well I don't think verifying a divorce document from Canada would be too difficult, shouldn't really be a problem with most countries I would imagine. As for the custody documents....that isn't even asked for until the interview stage. At the interview stage is when I have to show the court documents stating that I have permission to relocate the children and have custody.

This is my understanding also when it comes to the children and custody. Its the interview stage.

I think it is all hooey, Missy.... I dont think the call center has a clue... only the adjudicator knows.

The word of the day is bullplop. As in, you can be assured that pretty much anything USCIS or NVC tells you is a big steaming pile of bullplop.

I laughed out loud!! Bullplop, I LOVE IT!

I wish I knew...

I have spoke to 9 or 10 different people at the USCIS and they have ALL told me the same thing... they cant see anything on their screens as to what is going on or why things are going the way they are... so with that... how does this one that you spoke with today know that they are looking into Lars' divorce?

As for custody documents... I wrote the US Embassy in Warsaw a while back to see what if anything we needed to bring to the interview for Joanna's children in regards to them getting their K2... I specifically asked if we needed some sort of release from the children's father and they said NO...

I am just as confused as ever... as to why

The last I've heard was from my Senator's aide this Monday. After her inquiry, she's got an email from VSC that my file was with an adjudicator and will be processed soon. Nothing since. No touches since 4/26.

You can join the rest of us on the couch.....Richard and Kata, scoot over!! I think we have managed to run just about everyone else off!

I actually missed a day of calling NVC yesterday on account of feeling like garbage. Not that it mattered—I called today and got the same line of hooey as usual: "undergoing additional processing, unfortunately we have no timeframe for this process." I was feeling ornery so I asked to speak to a supervisor who didn't have any additional information but offered to put in a request to "the unit" (what unit that is, she didn't tell me) to see if they could move things along and/or let me know how much longer this might take. She gave me her name and suggested calling back Monday or Tuesday.

Stephen, are you feeling better?

No, he isn't! He feels ORNERY!! rofl.gif

Hi
Has everything just stopped at VSC.
Richard wake up !!

I'm awake... just bored...

have you heard anything Carl? How is Jessica doing with this?

Well to be honest Richard ..Its putting alot of pressure on our relationship.
She had lost her job some months ago.And is limbo waiting for us to be together.
She is running out of patients. Of course we all are.I got touched 9/11 last day thats it .Nothing else .I just called NVC . Nothing there..I know missy is waiting too.
I guess we just sit here and let the weeks roll by at this rate I will not have interview until Dec..
OMG
This is insane.

Is the Columbia embassy that slow? We still think that if we can get our NOA2 by October we will have time to get this done. Brazzaville has repeatedly told us they will move as fast as we do....

Don't give up, hang in there!!

I have been at the VIA Michelin website looking at the route we will drive. I called him, pitched the idea and he agreed!

click here to see (I hope)

Now, I am all emotionally invested in this idea, totally excited and have my guide books and maps out. I went to the Vatican website and reserved tickets....if I don't get the visa now, we ain't getting one!

My VJ timeline says:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between August 13, 2009 and August 30, 2009* (RFEs at the Vermont Service Center typically add an extra 17 days, which has been added to the estimated processing time).

Hi!! Hope everyone is having a great day today!

I emailed Lars and told him I was reading a book about the Sistine Chapel and the history of Michaelangelo and that instead of Poland I want us to drive from Paris to Rome and explore Roma for a few days before we go on to Poland for a few weeks. I think he will agree! Now, I am super excited about this trip to Rome and I no longer care about the NOA2, in fact I hope it is delayed a few more weeks so we don't have to cancel this trip. I know, that's so wrong but....I really want to go to Paris and Rome!

I'm dusting off my Dan Brown books right now and just bought the new one!! I'm planning my DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons tour RIGHT NOW!!!

I have been out selling houses - and I sold one!

Came back and called USCIS again because they didn't call me back. She told me something interesting. When there are Congressional Enquiries - the office I talked to said it can slow the process down. When the enquiry comes in they have to find the file and send it to the department that handles those, they research it and then send it back to the adjudicator and then processing resumes. Do I need to believe this?

She said that it appeared that mine was now "under consideration" and I should be hearing something soon. I did ask her if she was just saying that and she laughed and said no.

So, I'm done with that for the day.

Richard, I also tried whining to Lars and I got an email spanking from him too.

Work is good and that's where i need to keep my head right now. Work and just trying to have some fun here goofing around with you guys. Stephen, Gary is back out there handing out advice again - we need you!

Mornin' March

Morning! On hold with USCIS right now. Don't know why I do this to myself.....it's just the most aggravating thing, ever.

When you get to tier II... ask to speak to a supervisor... the one I was s'pose to get was Maria Chavo (spelling is wrong I am sure)

Tried that - didn't work. But, a letter has been sent to me and they couldn't get into the system at this moment to read it to me. Will call me back and read me the letter. It's just a reply to the service request I filed last week. Basically, there is nothing else I can do. I think I am going to abanon the k1 and re-think all of this. I am tired of randomness of it all. It makes no sense to me and I really hate feeling powerless over it all.

Quick, somebody call the waaaaambulance, she's whining again!

Are the alternatives any different? You are so far along with this... I wouldn't abandon it... but maybe start planning an alternative plan?

I am having an "I should have stayed in bed" kind of day. It's rainy here and I feel extremely sad and hopeless about it all.

I NEVER quit anything but this is seriously kicking my butt right now. I am a problem solver, I do it all day, every day. I am the person here in Jackson that people come to when they can't sell their house, I get things done. I am not bragging, but I am VERY good at what I do.

I can't get this done. It doesn't matter what I do, where I turn, I can't get it done. I can't get any answers or explanations, I can't convince anyone to tell me squat. I am not used to this kind of failure.....maybe that's the lesson to be learned here. Is this some kind of humbling experience for me??

The only alternate plan I have is to get married somewhere else and file CR1. What's another 6 months, right?

And, I HATE this side of me, all whiney and crying....it's icky. Guess it's time to go sell something and feel better! Hope you hear something today, THAT will make me feel better too!
