Heads up everyone! good.gif

I just called the USCIS this morning and got to talk to a very nice agent (amazing). He said that as of today 9-2-09 the Vermont Service Center is currently processing the 129F applications received on March 5, 2009.

I guess it wont be long now....

March 5th? That's the date they quoted me 2 weeks ago! Liars!

I heart.gif you so much!

I'm breathing, I swear. I actually am feeling okay about it all now. No point in getting all stressed about it, just pointing out the absurdity of it all.

I am luckier than a lot of folks around here. I actually have lived with Lars and we have the ability to travel if and when we want to and being older than a lot of you kids around here is also an advantage, I think. In the last few days I have had to come to the realization that as much as I think I can exert ANY control over this situation, I can't. Nagging my senators and congressman's offices isn't really helping me and it's time to admit that even if my approval came today, I don't think we would have the time to work it through the system over there. Thats the really difficult part to deal with. The Brazzaville Embassy only started working IV cases in July, the embassy there only reopened last year. They are basically starting over and I get the feeling it's under fairly primitive conditions. Add a huge language barrier (not much English spoken there) and....it's a hot mess and I am powerless over it. But, I gotta say - being a March filer and seeing April and May flying through, I am starting to feel like a red-headed stepchild!

As for that March 5 date that NCSC gives out, it's a load of hooey.

I knew there was a southerner lurking in there!!!

And, that's so true. I quit calling just because I am sick of hearing that. They are half done with April and well into May now. wow.gif

....and THIS is driving me crazy!

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between August 26, 2009 and September 10, 2009* (RFEs at the Vermont Service Center typically add an extra 17 days, which has been added to the estimated processing time).

If this date range has passed or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition. If you have been approved please update your timeline.

hey missy.... i am confused about your k1... wedding and Lars going back to Congo and how you are going to do that?

Again, I was in the car, read this and started to just call and explain.....gotta get my head on straight!

Our plan, if things work out, is this:

Civil ceremony on the 16th of November; file for AOS that day; after receipt of AOS NOA1, schedule infopass appointment in New Orleans and give them documents from his employer stating he has to return to work on December 6th, but will return to the states in 90 days, so he isn't abandoning his domicile here....just finishing a work contract, and ask for emergency advance parole. We will have the Episcopalian ceremony with my family on my birthday - 11/27.

I have been told - and believe me, I have researched this THOROUGHLY, that this is absolutely possible. His work schedule is the key. Due to Congo requirements, it's much like working in Russia and every 90 days he has to leave and get a new visa to be there. So, he returns here for 21 days, every 90 days and everyone is happy. ESPECIALLY ME!!! After he gets his conditional green card and doesn't need the advance parole, then I can go be with him there and then every 90 days we can take a trip somewhere else, not Mississippi!!

All of this is conditioned on him getting his visa in time for his November 15th departure. He already has his flight booked to Paris, it's just where to go from there. I'm open to suggestions from everyone - where should we go if he can't get here for November? We will start in Paris....then what? Car trip across France? Caribbean Cruise? Baltic Cruise? Seine River Cruise? C'mon people - help me out here!

I am just excited that we will get to see each other in about 75 days, no matter what!!

*I know that the Caribbean isn't in France.....we probably can't do that just because most of them start here in the states.

Hi,

Just a quick update. On the 26th, I finally received packet 3. It was just a letter saying, go to the website and download the forms.....

I have assembled packet 3 and ready to send it tomorrow. ( I am still not 100% sure if I answered everything correctly)...

Then I have to send the Documents check list once I have everything ready(need to translate documents, and affidavit of support)

Hopefully I can have the interview by October.

Let me tell you something: I think the easy part was waiting for the NOA2, all this paperwork is driving me crazy.

Do you need some help with the forms?

Those forms are confusing aren't they??

I didn't know the VJ system did that... That is pretty cool... and from I have seen... its pretty accurate... I know you are jumping out of your skin... but I will trade places with you!!!!! smile.gif

How did court go? and the BIG showing??

Won my case, thanks for asking AND probably going to write an offer tomorrow. THAT is the big news of the day!

As for the wait - I talked to Lars this morning. I just had a big ol' crying fit and he was absolutely marvelous about it. He has assured me that even if we can't get the visa approved in time for him to be here November 15th, we will spend those three weeks that he is out of Congo. I guess I better explain - he is there for 90 days and out for 21. We had planned on getting married the day before my birthday, November 27 - if we could get it all done.

So, as it stands now - if we can't get the visa approved and embassy issues worked out, I will still get to spend three weeks with Lars in November, we just don't know exactly where. You have no idea how much better that makes me feel! He wasn't moving here permanently anyway. I just want to see him.

I'll be in Justice Court for at least 4 hours (have to be there at 9:00 even though evictions are LAST) and then I am going to show one of my bigger and more expensive listings so I won't be around much until later this afternoon. That's almost like staying away, isn't it?? I mean, I can look at my phone some but if they see me doing that in the courtroom, they'll take it away and, if that happened, you would hear me hollering all the way in Hotlanta!

WHAT?????? is that a RFE..... is that an excuse..... is that ...... WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT????? Well, what do you plan to do.... Im sorry I do not know what to make out of it, anyways I think you should call them and ask what exactly is this about, if they do have your case and what are the additional reviews they are making....
Just hang in there and do what you need to do to find out. Our heart is with you Richard.
KataandFreddy

I think it is just a standard form letter... a blanket excuse as to why it is taken more than the 5 month processing time... At least that is the why I am reading it. I can't imagine that there is any real cause for concern, but then, who really knows.

Richard, I was in the car trying to read all of this on my phone and I thought to myself.....F this, I'll just call him and ask him what it's all about and tell him that it's probably a response to his Service Request filed last week.....and then when I hit R for Richard on my phone I remembered.....we don't do that! Sorry..... blush.gif

This is how much you guys have come to mean to me, I just automatically think about calling you to talk things over. I had to scrap my plans and run home to the computer! I cannot read and type and drive.....no way.

I am so sorry that you got that but I think that this is just a response to your service request. I got one as well and a response to my latest request for expedited processing.

Now, you have been the biggest cheerleader for the rest of us and, when we've been flatter than a blow-up doll after a bachelor party...you've pumped us right back up. Don't you dare get all worried and discouraged! (I mean, you can if you need to but, we really need and want you around here and we'd miss you a lot). I am here for you and I am sure everyone else is too. ((((((HUGS))))))

We always drove to Buffalo and left from there to fly to Florida as well. Way cheaper! It was about a 3 hour drive but we'd leave the day before and stay at a hotel that had park n fly and it was still cheaper. Especially if you were going for a week or more cause the hotel with park n fly was cheaper then leaving your vehicle in Toronto for a week.

They do that to sucker people in going to Buffalo. I spent a year in Buffalo one weekend.

Stan... you are on a roll today.. and in a good mood!!! good for you!

Trying to stay positive. Amy goes to start her culture on Weds, Thurs, and Friday this week. It's going to be a long 8 weeks. If anything comes back positive, she has to go through 6 months of meds and then ANOTHER 8 weeks of culture - after this 8 weeks.

So I'm keeping my mind off that and focusing on getting the rest of the March filers approved. Pom-poms out, miniskirt on (I need to take it easy on the ice cream), sprinklers full blast, and I'm looking for my eye of newt.

Keeping my fingers crosed (and anything else I can cross) for ya'll.

A new day... new hope! Good news is coming, I can feel it! Good luck, March family.

So, I think Brian and I broke the record of longest visit to Ikea on Saturday.... 4 hours! Honestly, Brian in Ikea is like a child in Toys 'R' Us. To be fair, we did spened almost and hour in the restaurant, but wow... that was nuts.

I'm painting the guest room today --- now that the roommate has moved out, this place is feeling more and more like "ours." smile.gif

YIPPIE!!! 'ours' is a good thing...

4 hours might be a Florida record... but not an Altanta one... I sent my AA to Ikea to furnish our corporate apartment... she was there over 6 hours and they wouldnt allow her to use my credit card so I had to drive down there and stand in line with 4 of those HUGE trolley carts smile.gif

I can top that! When Lars and I moved to Landskrona, Sweden in 2007, we had NOTHING. We went to the original IKEA in Helsingborg, it's smaller than most of the newer ones but I love it! We were there for half of the day! We completely furnished our apartment, everything but linens. I love that place. The one in Atlanta rocks too, by the way!

Hey Richard, you asked what I do for a living. I'm a proposal manager at a business development consulting firm. We provide strategic proposal consulting and lifecycle proposal development services for companies that are bidding on federal contracts. Or, the short version: you hire us to help you respond to more effectively to RFPs, or you hire us to handle the whole process and we write kickass proposals for you. smile.gif

Cool, Stephen... interesting business.. I don't work with many companies that do federal work.. but I will keep this in mind when I do.

In my opinion, we should all be linked on Linkedin. In the businesses that you are in...I think it could be useful. I run across a ton of people from all different businesses, looking for me to refer them to someone for all kinds of different things.

I'm a big believer in networking - in my business, it really pays off. A few years ago I traveled with my two older kids on a trip to France, with a big group of kids from school. We were stuck on the plane in Jackson, on the runway waiting for fog to lift. I stood up in the front of the plane (it was small) and did a fast presentation about what I do, how I am the best, a quick market analysis for the different areas in Jackson and then I passed out business cards.

After that little performance (which I mostly did to embarass my meanagers) I sold 5 houses and picked up some referral business. People called me and said that they would never have the nerve to stand up and do it and based on that alone they thought I must be pretty confident and succesful. I am sure some were annoyed but it paid off for me.

I don't do that kind of stuff any more, they have all moved off to school and I work almost exclusively on referrals now so I don't have to go out trolling.

After doing what I do for 23 years... I too work mostly by referral... I am not on linkedin... someday wink.gif

They don't call me grace around here 'cause I'm really light on my feet and have good balance! I am all goofy and wacky on the dance floor. Think Elaine in Seinfeld.....it's embarassing. I have taken ballroom dancing twice and it was awful both times. Put me on a crowded dance floor with a few martinis in me and I'm much, much better.

well... I am not very good either but i do have fun... most of the time... it helps that i can laugh at myself... and you have to go more than twice tongue.gif

I have 2 left feet and real ugly shoes

I went more than twice, WAY more. The first go was when a friend was getting married and she made everyone in the office go for 6 weeks, twice a week. It was pure torture. I lead, I trip, I step on everything but the floor, my pants or dress gets caught in my heels.....it was a hot mess.

The second go was at the YMCA in Mobile, they were offering it and Maggie and I took it. This time it was once a week for a month. No better.

In high school I had a job as a telephone soliciter selling dance lessons at the Arthur Murray School of Dance in Chattanooga. Isn't that funny?

Just got back from dance class... I wasn't going to go but the teacher talked me into going... now, I am tired...

be good y'all

what kind of dance class?

Ballroom... tonight was Salsa

You are quite the renaissance man! I am envious. Bet it was fun!

lol, renaissance man... thats too funny... class was ok... at least it wasnt the cha cha... i do not like the cha cha smile.gif

Do you dance? why envious... surely they have a class near you.. you should go! tongue.gif or drive over next saturday and i'll dance with ya smile.gif

He works for C.I.B. - Congolaise Industrielle de Bois....I think that's how it's spelled. He is the new CFO there (I think that is his title). C.I.B. is owned by DLH which is a Danish Company, C.I.B. is their French division.....it is confusing.

DLH has forest concessions there in Pokola and they are exporting exotic african wood. There is a sawmill there....and that's all I know. He arrived there Monday and then a group of the main Danes - owners or some type of "higher ups" arrived Wednesday and he has been in meeting after meeting and trying to make decisions about a ton of stuff with that job.

A phone is provided, a car, a house.....but he hasn't had time to take care of any of that. I have spoken to him once this week, but get daily emails, but they are short right now. He emailed this morning saying the Danes are leaving Tuesday and then he can relax and answer my million questions.

No. The problem is he's in the middle of a rainforest and they use satellite for the most part there. T-mobile has coverage there but from what I can read, it's expensive and sketchy.....

I was just killing time, he's really busy there getting settled into the new job and doesn't have a lot of time right now for chatting, like we used to.

Where are the family??? is so quiet in here!!!! unsure.gif

Linda

Yeah it sure is quiet in here! Anyone around? *echo*....*echo*....*echo*...

Today I received the "hard copy" of the NOA2. Nice to actually be able to hold something.

Also called the NVC this week and it has arrived and will soon be "out" and onto the Embassy in Moscow. So cool news there. We'll see if I can track it when it leaves.

So glad to see a 'wave' of March approvals at the end of the week. There are still so many left, but it's nice to know that they haven't forgotten March. Your time is coming Richard & Missy wink.gif

that is great news... things will start getting even faster now for you two!!!

So happy for everyone else! Richard, I believe that your is coming this week.

Welcome to the weekend, March family!

Needless to say, I'm elated to have finally gotten my NOA2 and to see so many other Marchers approved to round out the week. At the same time, it's bittersweet because there's still 50 of us who can't celebrate yet. I'm hoping and praying for all y'all to get that email from CRIS soon!

Anyway, what's everybody up to? I'm in the office this morning - ugh! The project I'm currently working on is on a very compressed timetable, so we've got a status conference call (ugh!) at 11. Then I figure I'll get some printing and copying done to prepare the interview package for Elisha. Thanks to a kind VJer whose SO went through the process in Seoul earlier this year, we have copies of Packet 3 and Packet 4, so we're ahead of the game. Monday, I figure I'll mail it all off to her and start calling NVC. smile.gif

Researching world phones - what works in Republic of Congo and what doesn't; researching embassy in Brazzaville, trying to find out how they do things there; going to the office to catch up all of the paperwork I didn't get done this week because I was obsessed with all of this other stuff. Trying to remember to take it one day at a time. It's funny (not funny ha ha), you wrote the other day that you weren't doing too well and that night you got your email! That's how I am feeling today, I'm not doing well. Maybe it really is darkest before the dawn, I don't know. Today - I am feeling sad about this process and how difficult it is. I am so happy for you though - planning a trip to be together and then coming home together! October will be here before you know it!! star_smile.gif

I know I am stating the obvious here but, have you noticed that the last 12 approvals for March are all at the end of the month? Nothing approved from the first....

If you think back to December, there were a whole bunch that filed around the same time and they all didn't get approved until maybe July...NatPenBen was one of them. I wonder if there is one really sucky adjudicator - some big ol dumbass that they can't fire, and that agent is the one that has the files from the first of the month....just saying.

Tygrys!! I see you lurking around in here. How are you doing?? Are you approved yet?

Toooooooo quiet in here this afternoon!

Any touches, Richard? Missy? Not that a lack means anything—I didn't have any before my NOA2 last night.

Nothing except an email from Congressman Greg Harper's office. They talked to the USCIS adjudicator and it's there for adjudication.....whatever that means. I've probably irritated them so much that they are going to hang on to mine a few extra days just on principle.

I also talked to the embassy in Brazzaville this morning. Boy, was that fun!! They are supposed to email me back but the gist of what I got out of them was this - the "colleague" that handles Immigrant Visas is out for a few weeks and won't be able to answer my questions until his return.

They speak HEAVILY accented English. Think Clouseau and Pink Panther and add some African in there.....you want a reeeeeuuuum????? This is a minkey! Do you have a massage for me?? They were very nice, just a very large language barrier and a poor connection.
