Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAge of Majority in Russia
Thanks for the input. I did write the Embassy last night. Now I will have to check on the AOS. It never ends..... I put the I-134 in the mail yesterday via USPS. Our petition is still at the NVC as far as I know. I am trying not to get too anxious about all of this, but it is hard. Thanks again.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAge of Majority in Russia
My fiancée has a 20 year old daughter. She does not have full legal custody of her. I have asked her to get a statement from her ex-husband giving his permission for his daughter to leave Russian and move to the US permanently. I know it would have to be certified and translated and taken with them to Moscow for the interview.

The US Embassy web site states: "If the immigrating parent does not have a document showing he/she has full legal custody of the child, the child immigrating with the parent may be required to submit the other parent’s notarized statement that he/she gives full permission for the child to leave Russia for the purpose of immigration to the United States meaning the stay is permanent and not temporary."

I have started thinking and that can be dangerous for me. If the age of majority is 18, the father would not have to give his permission. She is listed on the I-129F and wants to come with her mother to the US. If she is at the age of majority, then can she come with her mother on a K-1 Visa? This could turn into a mess if she is not allowed to come. The other mess is if the father does not give his permission.

Thanks for your help in this. Have a great weekend.

Thanks for the information. She has copies of all submitted forms which were included in the original I-129F submission. In addition, she has a copy of all photographs we took together. I left her that when I was there in January. She already has her police certificate and the I-134 with all attachments. As far as I know, she has everything. I did mail a letter (notarized as they requested) to my calling card company asking them for all the Call Records since last August. I hope I get it and then I can mail it to her. She and her daughter also have their immunization records updated. I hope we are not missing anything. This forum has been great in providing information.

Have a great weekend.

I checked with the US Embassy in Moscow to see if they had received our petition and what the status was. They responded with an interview date. Is there not a packet 3 and/or 4 they will send to my Fiancee? The interview date is not even posted on their site yet, but it is way out in time for 11 August.

Is it possible to request an earlier interview date?

Thanks and have a great day.

slim,
This is the information I have about my Fiancee's Visa. Her sister and her sister's husband sent her and invitation in 2004. She prepared documents and sent them to the Embassy. She then had an interview at the Embassy in Moscow and she received a two year visa. She paid $200 for the visa and $50 for postage. This was her response to my questions. Sorry I don't have the form numbers or more information. I don't know how long the process took either. I will ask her again and see if I can fill in some of the voids. I hope this may help. At least I know that she knows where the Embassy is located for her K-1 visa. :-) I

Larry and Marta,

Thanks. I just saw it and we are on there. It sure took a long time for them to update. I hate that it is so far out into the future, but at least we do have an interview date. Hopefully, it will not be cancelled and the petiton returned for some reason or another. We were not affected by IMBRA to my knowledge. Have a great day.

She has a sister here in the US she came to visit. He sister married a US citizen four years ago. She was here two times last year. The second time is when I met her when she came to see me in my hometown. We had only been corresponding and it was a meeting of sight unseen. I had seen some pictures, but I was apprehensive about meeting her. Everything turned out great. I went to see her in January and we got engaged.

Larry,
Thanks. I have been going to that site daily. With the recent update, there are numbers before ours and numbers after ours, but not our number. I have not written to the Embassy yet, but I may later this week. She has a visa to travel to the US which is good for two years. She was here twice last year. I met her on her second visit and I went to see her in January and we became engaged. Whenever our number shows up, it will more than likely be for an August interview. Our petition left NVC on May 12 - telephone confirmation. Good luck to all of you. Our time will come and we will eventually be together.
Have a great day.

Thanks for the information. I will write to confirm where it may be. If NVC forwarded the K-1 Petition on May 12, would they have not completed the full IMBRA investigations before forwarding it to the US Embassy in Moscow? I thought they called back a number of K-1's that slipped through the crack back in March.

How often does the US Embassy in Moscow update their interview schedule? How long does it take after your K-1 petition leaves NVC to get an interview date? Do you get a letter from NVC when they forward it to the Embassy? Does the Embassy send you anything or just your fiancee packet 3/4? Thanks and have a great day.

This is a great site for the interview dates in numberical order. http://www.tenthgen.com/Visa.aspx However, it has not been updated in a while. I have to check the Embassy site at http://moscow.usemba...ar/iv_dates.php

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusGoing rate for a U.S. tourist visa in Moscow
My fiance got a two year tourist visa last year. Her sister and her husband, in the US started the paperwork and invitation. My fiance filled out the paperwork and had an interview at the US Embassy in Moscow. I think she said she paid $300 for the tourist visa. She came to the US two times last year. I met her on her second visit. :-) Good luck.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusWhen do you receive the Visa?
Visa was received on 8/17/06, six days after the interview. She gave two weeks notice to her employer on Friday, 8/18/06. Tickets for Lucy and her daughter were purchased for 9/12/06 from SVO. We are getting closer to us being together. AT LAST. I appreciatae all the help on this board. I am going to continue researching for SSN, AOS, and AP. It seems that things never end and the money keeps pouring out.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusWhen do you receive the Visa?
My fiance and her daughter passed the interview today in Moscow. They told her that they would send the visas in one or two weeks. Is this just what they tell everyone? I thought they send the visas by DHL within one or two days and she should receive it in around four or five days. I hope I don't have to wait longer than necessary, but at least we are through this hurdle. Thanks for any info. Have a great day.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAnyone used Cincinnati as POE?
Thanks for the information. She and her daughter are changing planes in Cincinnati. Which line does she get in for Immigration? It looks like they will claim their baggage after they arrive and then go through Immigration. Then go through Customs. Then check their bags in for the next flight. Is that correct? Thanks.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAnyone used Cincinnati as POE?
My fiance and her daughter will be coming to Cincinnati as their POE via Paris from Moscow. I do not know anything about it. I would think it would be pretty fast as compared to JFK. Can anyone provide me with any information as to what line they need to go to when they arrive in order to go through Immigration? Which is first, Immigration or Customs? Do they get their bags when they get off the plane or after they go through Immigration. Thank you for any help and information. Have a great day.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPurchasing plane ticket

I finally ordered the tickets from Expedia, one way from Moscow. POE is Cincinnati. For a fee, I had Expedia mail the tickets to her in Russia. I bought the tickets last Thursday afternoon. She received them this Tuesday, yesterday. They wen USPS Express. I can hardly believe it, but they got there in record time. She will leave on September 12.

Thanks for your help. Have a great evening.

I am curious about this, did you call them or use the website? How did you get them to send it directly to your fiance?

Chuckles,
When you fill out all the information online at Expedia, there is a place to put in your fiance's name and address for mailing the tickets directly from Expedia to her. Only $36.00. I ordered the tickets online a week ago Thursday and she go them last Tuesday. I did call them to verify how they would send the tickets and to be sure they had a place for the information when you were filling in all the information. No problem. There have really been good to me in the past and this is the first time I called them. I also wanted to be sure there wasn't the surprise that by using my credit card, I had to be one of the passengers. I had run across that with cheaper tickets elsewhere. Expedia was the best price I could find. I know others find cheaper tickets and say that a outstrip can be cheaper than a one way, but I have not found that to be the case. I also found by checking cheap prices on a number of sites, then calling the airline, they will not sell at that price. It is two or three times the fare. They sell blocks to brokers and that is where the cheaper prices are found. Good luck and let us know how you made out.
Have a great week.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPurchasing plane ticket
I have been looking for tickets from Moscow to the US. I have found two places with good prices. The problem is that they both have a statement: The credit card holder name must match the first passenger's name.that the name on the credit card use to purchase the tickets. (I am going to purchase two tickets, one for my fiance and one for her daughter.) I don't see a way around this. She doesn't have a credit card. I may have to just buy more expensive tickets and send her a copy of the e-ticket or mail her the hard copy tickets. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussian Electronic Dictionary
Thanks everyone for the information. She has a paperback dictionary she is please with at this time. She needs the electronic translator for her ESL classes. (I ran across the ESL classes taught by the public school system for free. They have instructors, computers, CD's, library, etc.) I found an electronic talking translator on the Internet and got it. It should be here next week. I paid $120 for a $339 used translator. Unfortunately, a laptop will not work away from home and she needed something she can carry in her purse. I wish all of you a lot of success in your venture. Have a great weekend.
