IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsEveryone going through Administrative Processing in ISLAMABAD
My wife had IR-1 visa interview this morning and it got approved without AP/AR.
Here are some details:
My wife, two kids and my self were at the diplomatic shuttle transport service center (DSTS) around 7:00am. We took the token number for issuing shuttle tickets and waited in the waiting room for about 30 min or so. We bought the bus tickets for PK RS 500 each and proceeded to the shuttle after our number had been called.
We were in the embassy around 8:00am after security checks.
I went with my wife for the interview but did not go with her to the interview window as I was taking care of my two kids in the waiting room. Also I have seen in many cases CO have asked petitioner to wait in the waiting room and not be with their spouses during interview process.
First, my wife gone through finger printing process, then turn in her passport to another window, third time they called my wife's name for medical reports and finally fourth time they called my wife for interview. CO was a middle aged lady. She turned out to be friendly and nice.
We organized all of the documents that we could think of but not a single document were asked. I also got the new Islamabad Police character certificate (PCC) as we got REF from NVC to bring new PCC on interview. Again, except medical reports not a single extra document has been asked during the interview.
As, I have been in Pakistan since 2006 with my wife and kids so I was prepared for questions regarding my USA domicile and during interview CO asked my wife if I could come to the interview window and answered few questions regarding this. which I gladly did.
CO's main concern were about our intention to move back to USA and she wanted to make sure that we are 100% positive to moving back to USA. Once I cleared that to CO, she congratulated to my wife and said you can collect your passport from American Express in Islamabad with in one to two week time frame. She gave us American Express token number for collecting my wife passport. No blue, yellow or any other form is given which mentioned AP/AR.
I am glad it went pretty well.

Thanks for all those people who answered my queries here on VJ.

We had our interview Yesterday guys....got the green slip and they took my husbands passport and the interviewer said that if in a month and a half they didn't call us about the visa that we should call them to inquire about it. Our interviewer was an a$$ hole..lol, no doubt about it. He seemed to have a HUGE stick shoved up his butt...the moment he saw me approach the window he immediately asked if I was the petitioner and after I said yes he didn't wait two blinks and told me to sit down. I was ready to give him a nice little talking to....but then I saw my husbands face and he looked desperate to keep my mouth shut today...just pure pathetically desperate...so for the first time in ever I took note and sat down at a seat close enough that I could hear part of what was going on. Anyways, the guy didn't ask for ANYTHING he just had Haseeb say the outh, then Haseeb explained that we had photo albums...he kept insisting that we show him pictures of the actual functions....and his dumb a$$ wasn't seeming to understand the fact that we HAD NONE! It was a simple iftar party where we read the nika. Haseeb showed him the photo session and he just stared blankly and kept asking us to show them photos of the functions. Not many questions were asked after that....and then he tried to hand Haseeb his passport back and Haseeb avoided picking it up, so the guy took it and handed Haseeb the green slip with another white paper and said that he was "ehel" for visa, meaning he was going to be getting the visa but would have to wait for AP.

So.....yes, I'm upset....but what to do. It just seems to me that these interview people see that the beneficiary is a male...and there are just no two ways about it...Simply AP! But no problem I guess, I came home and talked to the travel agent again and he said that it's not like the airline will look at me and ask for proof of how far along I am, I can leave Pakistan whenever I feel comfortable....so I guess I'll wait till late November or early December before I leave now.....it's not like I have much choice really as I can't see myself trying to have the baby all alone in the states.....we'll have to arrange for someone to care for me for the last month or two. Till then, we have 3 more months till I'll be leaving....INSHALLAH AP is over much much MUCH sooner than that!!!! I'll be praying ofcourse. Husband and I will both be reading Surat Muzammil 41 times each day for the next three days starting tonight!!! My mother in-law has already been doing so every morning since day 1 for us, now we can read together.

Sigh....add us onto the AP spreadsheet Faisal....sad.gif

P.S.
Any chance that since they took my husbands passport they may be a bit quicker about stamping that thing with a visa? I can only hope so really....but I believe they took Omar's passport also and it still took pretty long for him didn't it? How long was your AP Omar? Anyone have any guess's at approx how long it should take for us?

I am sorry for you, but Insallah you will get your hubby visa soon. just hanging in there.

taj'samericanwife,

Did your husband get PCC from Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar & Philippines, all 4 places and sent the originals with DS-230 packet?

Now as per my understanding if interview is at US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, he needs to get fresh/latest PCC only from his current place of residence for his IR-1 visa interview and do not need to get PCC from all other previous places where he used to lived. Am I correct on this?

My wife visa interview will be next month & I am preparing for that.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs Islamabad embassy interview or nvc?

Hi,

I filed I 130 in October and waiting for approval. I have a question about islamabad embassy, after AOS and IV fee bill paid, Do I send DS230 from US or applicant send document? Is islamabad embassy apointment post? Does NVC or Islamabad embassy schedule interview for immigrant visa?

DS230 can be send either from US or by applicant but needs to be signed.(Part 1)
Isb embassy schedule interviews.

I just got email from NVC. Just wondering what does this mean?

"IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with
proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax
Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax
Return to the visa interview."

does that mean i need my spouse's recent Federal Income Tax Return?

This mean that if your sponsor (i.e your spouse) has not filed tax return and got extension on tax returns by filling IRS Federal Income Tax Extension form, then only you need to bring your spouse most recent tax return.

My wife going to IR-1 visa interview next month at USA Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan. I am USA citizen but working & living in Islamabad, Pakistan for last 4 years, along with my wife and 2 kids.

I understand I do not have to go to IR-1 visa interview with my wife as it is not mandatory.
Is it going to make any positive or negative impression on CO or her visa interview outcome if I decided not to go with her, as I need to take care of my 2 kids at home?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshelp for my son's IR-2
I am USC and my both kids born here in Islamabad, Pakistan. I have filed Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), once I got this I applied for their US passport. This all done within 6 weeks time frame.

As per my understanding if one of the parent is USC then you minor child can get the US passport without going through IR-1/immigration process.

Eligibility for Citizenship

Eligibility for citizenship must be documentarily proven before a CRBA is issued. The following eligibility criteria apply to children born after November 14, 1986 and who are under the age of 18. A child born before November 14, 1986 or over the age of 18 is ineligible for a CRBA, but may still be eligible for a passport and citizenship. Contact the Embassy for more information.
  • A child born in wedlock to 2 U.S. citizen parents is a citizen as long as one of the parents has resided in the US sometime prior to the child’s birth.
  • A child born in wedlock to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent is a citizen as long as the US Citizen parent was present in the U.S. for 5 years prior to the child’s birth, two of which were after age 14.
  • A child born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother is a citizen as long as the mother was physically present in the U.S. continuously for 12 months at any time prior to the child’s birth.
  • A child born out of wedlock to a U.S. citizen father is a citizen as long as paternity is clearly and convincingly established, the child is legitimated for the purpose of citizenship, and the father commits to financially support the child. The father must have been physically present in the U.S. for 5 years prior to the child’s birth, two of which were after age 14.

QUOTE (Ling Ling @ Sep 14 2009, 03:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
K-3 and CR-1/IR-1 are completely different.
For K-3, NVC sends the case number to the Embassy or Consulate, and the Embassy or Consulate sends a packet to the beneficiary.
For CR-1/IR-1 after NVC has completed your case review, they schedule an interview (usually between the 1st of the month and the 15th of the month AFTER you get your case complete....if it's complete before the 15th of the month and they haven't scheduled interviews for your country, then you will be scheduled in the same month).
Once your interview has been scheduled...THEN they will send the package to the Embassy or Consulate along with all the other upcoming interviews for your country.

Hope this helps...see LingChe shorcuts (link in my sig) for more information on tracking the package from NVC to the Embassy or Consulate.

Ling,

Thanks!

SSB,

My wife's interview is on Oct 20th 2009. I got letter from NVC asking to get Pakistani Police Certificate, which I already submitted to them, I had to get 4 Police certificates, one from Karachi and 3 from Islamabad. As per my understanding, PCC is valid only for 3 months and at my wife's visa date these PCC will be expired. So I need to get new PCC.
Is this the same with you guys? Are you going to get new set of PCC?

Country to country it is different. I did send original to NVC and still get REF from them asking for original PCC at my wife's interview time. In Pakistan PCC is good for 3 months and by my wife's interview it would passed its validity time. We suppose to send original PCC to NVC but I guess it is useless as in Pakistan US Embassy Islamabad ask for PCC which is not expired. I am in the process to get latest PCC for her visa interview.

My wife's IR-1 visa done in about 10 months from start (i.e from the day I file I-130) till the date my wife get IR-1 visa.
Good thing is that we do not to deal with NVC/USIC till her USA citizenship application, which would be in next 3 years.

Try to get BC from NADRA on basis of metric certificate. Otherwise you need to get affidavit from two elder person who born before your wife.

Good Day

Now we ve to fill the I864 and she dont ve the residence coz she never went back. Her 2 brohers r living in usa and they r ready to be joined sponsor.

She is required to fill the tax form (2555 or 2555-EZ i think i m right abt the forms). she is a house wife and she dont ve any income. She is 26.5 years old and we r married for the last 6 years. I ve a job and the total annual income of mine is 13000 $ per annum.

So should v file jointly or single?

Thanks N Regards

Either way should be okay as your total annual income is not more than 80K. If you or your wife is earning in Pakistan and total annual income is less than 80K (or 90K, I am not 100% sure) than you are not supposed to pay any taxes on that income. But your wife need to file tax return even if she is not earning any income.

First of all Marry I would thanx to you for welcoming me & Salma to the current forum and wishing us good luck. I believe thats true they grind the applications longer than they should especially if the male is the applicant. But I strongly believe that Allah has set time for each n every thing that has to haapen and will happen no matter what. So we must stay focused, together, must accept finite disappointment (if we have to come across, God may not) and must not lose infinite hope. Allah's help is just around the corner. Call and its there. We pray for you guys all the times all the way.

BIG GOOD LUCKS and May Allah the All Mighty help you all the way and keep you together forever...... (F)
