K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSealed brown envelope... how to get my passport inside?

Congratulations!

By all means -- open the plastic bag to get the passport, just don't open the brown sealed envelope.

No other way to get that most important CFO sticker without your passport.

Hello everyone,

Has anyone before has K-1 visa and got denied at the Point of Entry?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsdenied k1 petition after 5months of waiting?

Your wait is not extraordinary, if you do a search here -- you'll find I-129F petitioners/beneficiaries that waited 8 or 9 months for an NOA2.

Remain patient, you'll get that notice.

The mods will most likely merge your two threads pertaining to this same question.

Naturalization and short temporary travel or very different, yet are connected.

Since you've already removed conditions and have your 10 year GC, you are free to travel, the same as you were when you had the 2 year conditional GC. Just be very mindful that a stay of six (6) months or more may disrupt the continuous residency required for naturalization. However, you can remain outside of the U.S. for longer (again, be mindful of disrupting the residency requirements) periods and if you need to be outside of the U.S. for more than 1 year, you need to apply for and obtain a reentry permit prior to leaving.

With marriage based naturalization, 90 days prior to your 3 years of being a permanent resident, you can apply for naturalization.

Middle East and North AfricaImmigrant visa approval process after interview in Qatar

Thanks for your prompt reply. You might be right on that and I get the same generated reply on my email stating it is indeed on administrative processing. But the thing is, 1-he was not told after his interview that he would be under administrative processing-according to Qatar consulate website, they are supposed to tell you after the interview. 2-why would they take his passport right away?  3-he was not given a 221-g form to fill out for administrative processing. and 4-Why wouldn't it state "Administrative processing" on the CEAC status? OR, could it be that they just use administrative processing as the term for the actual processing? Sorry, it just gets confusing and frustrating..

Though he was not informed about AP, the document(s) submitted after the interview will take time to be matched up with the case file and reviewed by a CO -- that is AP.  Keeping the passport was a good sign, the approval is pending based on review of the requested document.

As to how long that will take, no one can tell you that for certain.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBig problem, please help

Thanks for the quick reply.

And thanks for the scottimmigration link. I'll try to make it to one of her chat sessions.

I know my wife only "experimented" with marijuana while in college, unfortunately, she was arrested for possesion. What do you think will happen when we check the "Yes" box on the DS-230 form. Will we even get a chance for the medical exam and interview? Or do you think they'll see that and automatically deny her?

I'll try to ask Laurel Scott this question, but do you think the "Yes" is grounds for an automatic denial?

Thanks again,

Mark

Hey Mark,

I would advice not to even consider checking "NO" they will find that arrest in her background. You do not want to risk a total ban for "misrepresentation."

I too agree with you about marijuana, it is just silly how gov't impact peoples lives because of a plant. No problem if you get drunk, but if you wanna get high....oh no, that is big NO NO!

Not necessarily true. The person sorting the lines at the CBP area will direct you. Typically they allow the couples to go through the citizen/resident line together.

Ok, thanks for that...is that policy or just courtesy? Or was that your experience at your wifes POE? I appreciate your input.

No problem, so do not get me wrong...I was not trying to be mean or anything like that. I just kind of figured you meant 'wife' and not "fiance."

Tell her that she is very married... :D

I hope that customs/immigration info helps.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEntering the US

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me. My fiance, who is from Taiwan, has already received her cr-1 visa.

We are ready to go the states very soon. My question is when we arrive in the states and go through customs..Do i have to go through customs with her? Or can she do it by herself? The only reason i don't want to do it with her is cause i want to secure our luggage. In our luggage will have some pretty important stuff...like wedding dress, etc. I just don't want our bags waiting out there for too long or risk some stealing our stuff.

please any info would be great.
Thanks!!

p.s. We will be arriving in America at the same time

She is your wife if she has a CR-1, a fiancee does not get a CR-1.

You will clear immigration from different lanes, then after you clear immigration you can secure your luggage, clear customs with the luggage alone then wait for her on the other side to exit.

Congratulations!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCRAZY OVER I864 for the interview

u mean there is another exam after the NCLEX? i thought thats it and when i submit to them ssn they will process my license cz thats the content of the letter i received from them.

I am sorry, I was typing that and not paying attention, I was having one thought and typing something different. I meant to ask you if you contacted the board and applied for the license...not take the exam. You are already licensed there, no need for an exam for you. Sorry for screwing that up.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCRAZY OVER I864 for the interview

on my interview letter I864 wasnt asked but tax transcripts, paystubs the documents that comes with it when we submitted it to the NVC...it wasnt even statd on the list under the correspondence instruction..FINANCIAL EVIDENCE is written there and have a status of Y meaning nvc received the documents already but I864 wasnt mentioned on that part....i do know the importance of it thats why even if its not asked i want to still bring it but unfortunately my dear husband doesnt like to print one again....

whether i have a copy or i dont have copy il go to the interview and take my chance....thanks to all ur advice....it really freshened up my mind...

That is the right attitude to have, many times we have to play the game with the cards we are dealt. I am glad you feel better about your up coming interview. The only thing you can do is to have the documents ready according to the letter you have. You have too much work and effort invested to 'throw up your hands' now, the finish line is in sight.

Like one other poster mentioned, just get here and you will have other options that open up to you... not currently available to you. As a nurse, you will do very well here once you meet all requirements and get employed.

And that 10 year issue, that is a whole other conversation.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCRAZY OVER I864 for the interview

...i know this topic isnt new here...but sorry guys, i just need to know and be sure...my interview will be on Sept 12, 2011 MNL Embassy..and im freakin out about the documents needed..ive read a lot of posts here..ive read that i should "bring a copy or the original I864, /a that was submitted
to the interview, then ive also read :no need to bring i864 for the interview...i know that it is stated in the Packet 4 what are the things to bring and it includes I864, thats why im freakin out cz until now my husband my petitioner havent emailed me the I864 documents he and his mom submitted to NVC..we actually had a fight because of that cz hes telling me its not needed anymore and that he send it already to the NVC and NVC send it to USEM manila and that they got a copy.:crying: ......aarggghhhh...we actually fight over this almost everyday...my husband hates paperworks thats why almost everything regarding my application i prepared myself thanks to Visajourney, i prepared everything for him and the only thing he will do is to sign them...and mailed them...but unfortunately he didnt photocopy everything he send to the NVC..and now when i asked him for a copy hes mad, and he always tell me its not needed anymore and that im being paranoid about the interview ...

sorry guys..i just need to vent..we just had a fight...and it leave me crying until now...im thinking not to go to that interview..i mean if my husband wont give me the support and help i needed to get through this whole process.. why would i still go there..its obvious he doesnt want me there..from start im the one busy with all this paper works he just sits there and wait til he needs to sign something...you can see in my signature we messed up , its because of him not cooperating with the process / doesnt like paperworks....it took 400+ days til interview..

I DONT KNOW..i told him a while ago that if i havent receive a copy of the I864 from him and from his mom (co sponsor) i wont bother showing at the interview ..i cant take it if i fail the interview because of that I864...im tired , exhausted, frustrated with this whole process..cz im doing it all alone....

DOES ANYONE HERE FAILED the interview because she doesnt have a copy of I864?

FYI about 10 years ago...after our wedding he told me he already filed a petition for me....and so i waited, and waited and waited...then guess what only last year he finally told me he doesnt know how to file an immigrant petition...(now we got 2 kids) and so i started the whole process last June 2010...and now i when have an interview appointment hes messing up again....

You have come to far in this process to abandon the ship now. If this is important to you for the sake of your children, then stay the course. It is very unfortunate you've had to take the lead role in getting this done.

I agree with one of the other posters, do not fight with your husband, even as frustrated as you are at this point. Just keep doing what needs to be done to get through this, and I know it is not easy having to drag him along the way. You have not come this far to give up now.

Keep your head up and stay in the process.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864--Will I need it for the interview?

My wife's CR-1 interview is on Oct 18 in Manila. I just realized that i did not make a copy of the I-864 (Affidavit of Support) to bring to the interview. Do you think that will be a problem?

Will it be ok if i just make a new one and sign it? ...or do the need a scanned copy of the original?

thank you

It is best for your wife to have it with her, just in case the CO request to see it.
Sometimes the CO will ask to see it and other times they will not, it is far better
to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
