IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy friend needs help! Urgent

She should be prepared to exercise a bit of patience, no amount of worry will speedy up AP.  It's hard to say how long it will take for the visa to be issued, it could take a week, two weeks, or a month.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy friend needs help! Urgent

The visa is delayed for as long as it takes for the requested documents to be delivered, matched up with the case file and evaluated.  However, there is no need to worry, just submit the documents and allow the process to take place.

PhilippinesAnyone here from the Philippines?

hey there...sorry to hear about the long wait...i haven't even submitted my petition yet...just trying to clarify one last thing...maybe you can help! my fiance was previously married to a us citizen...she filed for divorce so that she could remarry here in the states...however, philippines does not recognize divorce so what should i do?

Your question was not that clear to me, but I will take a shot at your question anyway.

If your fiance is a USC and he is divorced, that will not be a problem for him to petition the US gov't for a fiancee visa on your behalf.

It is your country that does not grant a 'divorce' but it will be no problem for your divorced fiance (USC) to marry you.

I hope that answers your question.

Philippinesi miss the philippines

here's what really happened.. i married and loved a guy whom i thought he is.. 2 days after our marriage, he yelled at me called me ######.. shouting nasty rude stuff about filipina..he acted so weired..threw his stuff around and accidentally hit my feet with a thing.. i'm so scared.. i'm leaving in a room far from the city.. no public transportation..he doesn't even buy me foods.. i'm so lost right now... i wanna go home.:(

That is really bizare behavior for a newly married man. That is really strange for a man to spend the time, money and effort to get his wife to the U.S.A., then treat her in such an inhumane manner. If your husband is not buying food, that is very serious. You really need to consider getting out of that situation. Is he not buying any food to put in the house or is he not buying the food you like? Are you not eating? I am just trying to be clear about the food issue...is he eating?

PhilippinesVisiting cousin in Japan prior to POE in US

Hi fellow VJs!

My K1 visa was approved last Aug 25 but I plan to make my POE on January 2012 since I want to spend Christmas here with my family. Also, I plan to visit my cousin in Japan first week of December. I will apply for Japanese tourist visa next month and hopefully it will be approved. =)

Will this cause any problems in my US POE on Jan 2012?

Kindly share if you have similar experiences. I would highly appreciate your comments.

Thank you!!!!! :)

Your travels to other countries prior to entering the USA will have no impact on your entry. Best to do it now, because you will not be able to re-enter (if not an emergency) the USA until after your AOS and have your AP.

PhilippinesLa Verne CA

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone here live in LA VERNE? I just got here and got married but i need a friend..
Hope i could meet someone here.. Filipina or not it's ok with me..

Kris

Hello Kris, hopefully there is a fellow Pinay VJ'er in or near La Verne that you can develop a friendship with. Just
for your information, you're not far from the City of West Covina where there is a large Fil-Am community. Also many stores/shops there where you can find
your favorite food items, there is even a Jollibee/Red Ribbon. A little farther away (like 35-40 minutes) at Chino Spectrum Towne Center ( Grand Ave, 71 Hwy) you will find another Jollibee/Red Ribbon, Wal-Mart and other shopping with lots of Filipinos in the area. In those 2 nearby areas you will find just a little slice of home, with regards to food and maybe even the chance to make a friend. I hope that helps in some small way.

PhilippinesVisa Approved! Now I have more questions....

You will need to pay the terminal fee of 750php and her travel tax of 1585 php at the airport. The two fees will be paid at different windows at the airport before you depart. You will only pay the 750 terminal fee but she pays both fees. When you arrive in the u.s. you will only give the customs agent the unopened visa package and then will be on your way. Good luck

jim

Yeah Jim, I should have made it clear I was talking about at the POE.
That is good info though.

PhilippinesVisa Approved! Now I have more questions....

My fiancee had a successful interview at the Manila embassy October 3rd. She is waiting for her visa/passport to be delivered, then she will attend the CFO seminar. When that is completed and I go there to pick her up, what do I need to know as far as leaving Manila? I understand I will have to pay a fee(other than the terminal fee) at the airport? Do I need to fill out anymore paperwork for her? Are there any different processes she will have to go through?

We will fly into Washington Dulles airport. What happens then? I assume she will go through a different customs line? I have searched for a link that would answer these questions but was unsuccessful. I really appreciate the help, tips and information!

She will be able to be in the same line as you...

PhilippinesChecked in Baggage through Eva airlines

thanks guys...no worries about the time between arrival and time to check in american airlines, i got 6 hours layover :(

Then you'll be fine in that regard. I note the unhappy face, to give you a little prospective it is not unheard of to spend 2-3 hours clearing immigration/customs at LAX. That 6 hours will give you time to jump through all of the airport hurdles; visit the restroom, get some food/drink or snack, get to your gate and finally relax without the stress of a missed connection.

Best wishes.

PhilippinesChecked in Baggage through Eva airlines

Wheww..is that how international flights work? - this is really confusing coz what I was told is different form whthe infos here :D - but just incase, do I have to pay terminal fee / tax upon checking in american airlines and what is the baggage allowance? and rate for excess baggage?

Do not be confused, the travel agency gave you incorrect info. The information you got from Ryan H is correct. After you clear immigrations and customs, you will go to American Airlines and check your luggage with them.

Also note, LAX is a busy POE, when you book your original & connecting flights, leave plenty of time between arrival at LAX-immigration-customs-getting to American airlines-recheck luggage-security screening to make your connection.

Here is a map of LAX, American Airlines is located in terminal 4. http://www.airport-l...rminal_map.html

okay. Yeah, we went too off topic here

Off topic, off the road and into the ditch...yeah we did.

No, I am not anti capitalist (I think I have to reread my previous statement, LOL) though there are UNcreativeness business entities there.

The tree in the middle could just be a local thing though as it is on the road outside the John Hay. It's an urban legend, that tree. Too bad, even that, they cut it down. LOL

You made it very clear about your capitalist position...I screwed that up, I get you are not anti-capitalist.

We might have to take this pm, I have questions.
LeatherneckMalePhilippines2011-10-22 01:59:00
PhilippinesAmerasians

Because...
I am not American though I live in the US. Grew up in Baguio. The old base was great even after the closing when it was handled by the local government. When they handed it to the private sector, things become uncool and too "typical". I'm am not anti-capitalist or a communist but the city government handled the conversion well than the private sector.

Are you familiar with the tree in the middle of the road?

I do not remember the tree, after 26 years, things start to fade a little.

Glad you're an anti-capitalist, I'm a capitalist to the core.

Not sure how is it now but I do remember the duty frees out there. I think there is a domestic airport.

Yeah, Clark is an airport now.
LeatherneckMalePhilippines2011-10-22 01:51:00
PhilippinesAmerasians

Fortunately, no. Never been there. LOL. I passed through Clark though after the bases closed when they were converting it to some economic zone

I understand they built some hotels and casinos on old Clark base. Boy, I spent many nights on Fields Ave and MacArthur Hwy bar hoping. Now I'm reminiscing.
LeatherneckMalePhilippines2011-10-22 01:47:00
PhilippinesAmerasians

Camp John Hay used to be the coolest former base in the 1990's, but now they have torn down the coolest things :bonk: The only thing I think they preserved are some old country style houses (very few), the bell theater and the "pet cemetery" (too bad they charge for it too now). I think they even remodeled the golf course.

Yeah that was the getaway place for many American service members and DoD employees back in the old days to escape the awful heat. That is a shame they tore it down. I have not been to baguio in 26 years, now I feel old.

How was it you found yourself in the Philippines? Not the place most Americans (I assume you are) vacation.

Yes, that river that turned into a flowing septic tank

I crossed that river many times between 1984-1986, I take it you crossed it also?

Yeap, that big ole smelly city sewer, aka sh!t river...you never forget it once experienced.

Derivative Citizenship:

http://manila.usemba...itizenship.html

it is likely that Pinky falls under this:

Child born out of wedlock to a U.S. Citizen father: A child born outside of the United States to a U.S. Citizen father where there is no marriage to the non-American mother is entitled to U.S. Citizenship provided the American citizen father had been physically present in the United States for the period of time as specified in previous paragraphs for children born in wedlock to one U.S. Citizen and one non-U.S. Citizen parent, either before or after November 14, 1986

I suspect Pinky may still have a chance on derivative citizenship.

He probably told you about "the river", did he?

Any how, while I appreciate the film for "resurrecting" the issue, I do not appreciate the politics behind it. I feel that it espouses anti-American sentiments than actually focusing on the Amerasian stories (esp with the part where NGOs where interviewed). The personal stories are touching and disturbing but the "NGOs" are annoying.

Another disturbing thing is yes, you are right, the reinforcement of the stereotype that the mothers of the Amerasians are all prostitutes. While some may be, one cannot even generalize it. I have read and heard personal stories (No, not the "personal stories" read on the media) and the situation is really diverse. Some never knew they had a kid, some never heard from the mother again, some just lost touch like that, some did not allow the child to go with the father and went into hiding, while some relationships just did not work out. I wish they had at least humanized the "missing military fathers". Not all are "evil" as the media has been portraying them.

The film also did not share the OTHER side of the story -- fathers from the other part of the world looking for their sons and daughters.

Just read stories on search sites.

One more thing I think that complicated things is that many people working in Olongapo/Subic and Angeles/Clark are not from those places but came from different parts of the country. So when the bases closed, they went back to their hometowns where telecommunications and postal mail service are even more unreliable than in cities (it is not reliable in cities to begin with).

There is just so much stereotyping, unfortunately.

You make several valid points here. However, I have not seen the entire film, just what I could find online.

Oh, the river outside of the former Subic Naval base? You mean sh!t river?

Technically, he can still file for I-130 but since his daughter is over 21, they will have to wait for visa for like 10-20 years :bonk:

And sadly, there isn't any alternative relief.

Yeah he can do that, now add those years to his current age...how much will he really be able to enjoy them? I guess regardless of the number of years to immigrate, the daughter and her kids could benefit from it eventually. So the I-130 would mostly benefit posterity.

PLus i noticed something: people who sent they packet 3 earlier get interview earlier. I believe that interviews are based on packet 3 order. and not ANOVA approval becuase there are people who got approved earlier but send packer 3 later and didn't get interview while some who got approved later and sent packet 3 earlier and got interview.
