Can you tell me if they will take my fiancees passport after the medical and send it to the embassy for her interview or will she keep her passport after the medical and bring it to the interview herself? Im confused cause i hear two different answers..and dont want to give up passport if i dont have too...afraid it may get lost in transit...Thanks

St. Luke's will not keep your fiancee's passport, it was the old protocol for SLMCEC to keep the passport and forward it to the USEM.

PhilippinesI lost my EXPIRING green card

I lost my green card that is about to expire this March 2012. I dont know what to do if im gona apply for Form-151 or Form 751? Please help me out..

Since your card will expire next month, if I were you would get a police report that it was lost/stolen, or whatever you want to call it and submit that with the I-751.
But you must to submit a copy of your GC card (front and back) with the I-751 petition, which is impossible now that you don't have the GC.

I know it sucks to pay to replace a GC that will expire next month then pay again to submit a I-751 petition.

Your GC expires in March, why have you not already submitted the I-751?

Maybe someone that has gone through this will chime in and give you instructions.

PhilippinesNBI vs POLICE CERTIFICATE

Quote

4. NBI CLEARANCE: Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant?s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of ?No criminal record?, "No pending criminal case? or ?With derogatory record.? For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

5. POLICE CERTIFICATES: A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa) after turning 16 years of age. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, married names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including different spellings of all names ever used. Information on how to secure police certificates from countries where these are available may be obtained by contacting U.S. Embassy Manila?s Immigrant Visa Branch or an Embassy/Consulate of the country from which the police certificate is required.

The State Department's Visa Office offers online information on the availability of country documents (including police certificates) through its Country Document Finder. Click on the letter that begins the country name, select the country and scroll down to "Documents".

Reads pretty clear to me.

I did the the K1, and K2, fro 2 kids. Anyone that marries overseas knows that its costly and can be painful due to the distance and the uncertainty. If any of your fiancees children are under 14 at the time of Aos the fee is a flat $635. My total was$2775,note write a separate check for each app. I listen to so many post of people unprepared and lack income and relying on sponsors, some people just shouldn't do it. My 1.5 cents, anyway good luck!

Then your next round of check writing will been at ROC time.

A dear friend recently did AOS for 3 kids older than 16 years + herself, needles to say husband was hating life.
The husband paid for everything x 4, ooch!

She's 28? This is a defective unit. Return for unit that can be test driven under rigorous conditions.

There's no greater change then moving from full-time employment in Manila to living on the edge of the wilderness in Alaska in a log cabin. We haven't left the cabin for almost six weeks. Fifty below zero last week - seventy below zero wind chill. Heating with a wood stove. Moose in the yard. Occasionally bears or wolves.

What a no stress life you have there!

Not one iota of drama about moving. Excitement instead. Both of us could have complained about giving up independence, and with me the international playboy life, and blowing fifteen thousand on a new airplane engine without a thought. Wheeeeee!!!

The point of this is supposed to be the happiness about being together and all the new things to encounter. If she's going to get all dramatic about leaving that perfect life in the Philippines, then fine - stay there and another half-million girls will be glad to take her place.

Yeap, In less than a heartbeat!

Very true but in my case it will be the half-million girls wanting to get with me for the wrong reason and just for a free trip to america. My ex wife was like that. Once she left the Philippines she did a dr. jekle and mr. hyde 180 on me.

my advice is that if your in the military, stay single because once you give your girl a military dependent card and she turns out to be the wicket witch of the east, then that dependent card is a one way ticket to unemployment. true story!

Or divorce!

As a young buck, I enjoyed many a Tuesday and Saturday nights when the base club would be loaded with ladies armed that dependent ID card. I really felt badly for the guys that were responsible for those cards being issued, then I resumed having fun. They probably never knew how much their wives were having.

The "good" ones don't break up with you for 4 months because of something someone else says.

The "good" ones don't freak out if you can't give them money

The "good" ones don't b**ch at you about not having a job

The "good" ones don't tell you how you are going to have to live.

Im on my 2cnd go around also. Had lot's of arguments with the first one before we got married and within a week of being here she was literally chasing me down the street so she could continue arguing with me. Judy has been here 3 months now and we have not had a single argument.
The one you got now is going to want to run your life. If you want someone to run your life, you'll be very happy together

Well said Dan!

I think It's important to know a Pinay long enough to observe if she has any anger management issues (especially when it comes to insignificant matters) and to pay attention to how a Pinay conducts herself with regards to stress.

Her behavior at several thousand nautical miles away is probably a good indication of future behavior once married and living under the same roof with you.

I personally have never understood the fighting, (verbally) stressing about leaving family to the point of being depressed, then blaming such behavior on the stress of the visa process.

It's a "process" with long waits built in and the need for a small boat load of cash.

It's not ridiculous. If someone applied for visa and approved, Its a common thing for an embassy to the passport.

My auntie is NOT a public charge she never got any government assistance
and my grandmother got here because of my grandfather who is a US citizen so no my mom did NOT sponsor her

I think you'll be fine in this case. if USEM was going to accept a co-sponsor, then your mother's income would work.
LeatherneckMalePhilippines2012-02-10 16:21:00
PhilippinesWill they allow a co sponsor
Your mom will have to declare any previously submitted affidavit(s) of support.
Based on the income you say your mom earns, she makes more than enough to co-sponsor, again.

Your aunt that your mom sponsored, she has never become a "public charge", correct?
Also, did your mom sponsor your "lola" when she immigrated to the U.S.?

6.8 earthquake shakes central Philippines; 1 dead

MANILA, Philippines (AP) ? A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines on Monday, killing a child and triggering a local tsunami alert.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology issued the tsunami alert for the central Philippines, saying the quake, which hit in a narrow strait just off Negros Island, could trigger a 3-foot (1-meter) wave along the island's eastern coast as well as west of Cebu City, the country's second largest.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a wider regional warning.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 44 miles (72 kilometers) north of Dumaguete city on Negros and hit at a depth of 29 miles (46 kilometers).

People rushed out of schools, malls and offices during the quake. Officials in some areas suspended work and canceled classes.

A child died when a concrete fence of a house collapsed in Taysan town in Negros Oriental province, said Benito Ramos, who heads the Office of Civil Defense.

A mall in San Carlos city in neighboring Negros Occidental province was damaged when its windows were shattered by the shaking, he said. The quake was also felt in Cebu, where it lasted about 30 seconds.

The Philippines is located in the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where earthquakes and volcanic activity are common. A 7.7-magnitude quake killed nearly 2,000 people in Luzon in 1990.

PhilippinesApplying for K1 visa Interview without paying the Fee first
It is not possible to set up the interview online without first paying the visa fee. You need the receipt number proving the fee was paid before
the system will allow you to register.

After you pay the fee, it'll take a few hours before you can successfully log in and set up the interview.

PhilippinesSon Brought Illegally?
What is the legal relationship between the mother and the father?

Were they every married?

Is the child considered illegitimate?

Did your wife legally adopt the child?

Yes USCIS will allow the petition to go forward, as long as the mother can prove she if the mother. Now, how the child's parents to decide to resolve the custody issue is not within the scope of USCIS.
The child will be required to attend the interview for his visa.

This is incorrect. The household count only goes to 5 after the baby is born. While the baby is gestating, he/she is not counted. For the US government to count the unborn baby as part of the household, the US government would need to acknowledge the unborn as a person. And, I don't believe the US government is anywhere near to granting an unborn any status as a person.

If the unborn is counted in the household, wouldn't the unborn need an immigration visa too? Seems ridiculous to say the unborn counts for the household, but doesn't need a visa or passport to enter the US while still inside of mom.

The household count is 4; the US citizen petitioner, his two children, and his fiancee. When the baby is born, the household count will increase to 5.

I guess I could have and should have been a bit more clear to the OP, and added 'once the baby is born' so as to avoid the wrath of those VJ members that are eager to pummel others for lack of clarity or the slightest error. So I take responsibility for lack of clarity in my post.

We all know the current household count is 4. No one is counting an unborn child for purposes of determining the Poverty guide lines, or implying such.

What really "seems ridiculous" is the way you saw fit to make your point, with your silly lecture referencing gestation and the U.S. govt position
on the unborn. Your last sentence of all of that drivel was all you needed to convey your point, which I happen to agree with, the rest you could've saved.

You conveniently overlooked "Her pregnancy will have no adverse affect on your K-1 petition/process..." now comprehend that as you may. Obviously I understood the current household count stands at 4 and not 5. The first portion of my comment pertained to 'once the baby is born.'

Yes you will now reference the poverty guidelines based on a family of 5.

Her pregnancy will have no adverse affect on your K-1 petition/process, other than increased cost to do so now.

You can have your wife pay for the ticket with funds you send to her or you can use a carrier where this is not an issue. This has something to do with the Philippine government wanting their travel tax money from the sale of the ticket.

PhilippinesCFO Sticker and attendance

Thank you Hank/Amy and 7teeners for your responses. My fiance was texting me as she arrived and registered and just before she went in to attend the G&C Session. The next time she texted me, she was breaking for lunch until 1pm. When I asked her why she had to return, she said that they told her it's a full-day session and the afternoon session entailed a one on one individual counseling session. I haven't heard back from her since then, (due to time differences) but as Paul Harvey used to say, "...and now, the rest of the story". She said they were quite strict with her during registration and the session. At this time, we're holding back on our review and suggestion as whether to attend SMEF-COW or PRISM.

Thanks again

There are lots of stories/experiences floating around here about what #######-wipes they can be in Cebu. Please fill us in on your fiancee's experience when you have the time.

PhilippinesCFO locations. Is one better than the other?
Most people tend to like and recommend RRISM rather than SMEF-COW, which is the one that is recommended to be avoided.

The PRISM on Taft Ave is closer to the USEM than the SMEF-COW location in Quezon City.

Sadly I got my drivers license in Philippines before I got it in the United States and I was born american. I am from NC, they started the whole weird 6 month probation with our license so that was the time i went to pinas.

I learn how to drive defense and offensive in pinas and learned how to drive very very fast on the Autobahn in Germany.

PhilippinesThings you had to buy and/or throw away?

My piece of advice to you my friend. Us being Filipino... you definitely need a lot of patience because of the cultural differences you may encounter. I hate to say this but those American White Boys need to really show a lot of respect for our Filipina Ladies. Marrying a Filipina is the most valuable gift you could ever have in your life because not just their beautiful.. They support you 100% on a day to day basis. Filipina's are considered the most brilliant individual on earth so give them the most respectful treatment they deserve. Filipina's are very talented when it comes to your own comfort need as far of taking care of you. Pinays does all the work at home and you wont find a typical American Ladies who cooks, wash clothes and cleans your own house. So give yourself a tap on the back because you made the right Choice.. No offense...

Huh...you left out lots of other men that are not white. However, I do get your point.

We do love Pinays!
