PhilippinesWhen is the right time for Medical?

I agree. Get as much done as possible before the Interview date. Cramming it all at one time really adds to the stress. She needs to be ready for that interview and fell confident these other issues are completed.

PhilippinesWhen is the right time for Medical?
That depends on what is convenient for you and your fiancee -- as long as you have the medical completed prior to the interview. Some get the medical 3-4 days before the interview, others get the medical weeks before and there have been those that completed the medical a mere day prior to the interview for whatever reason. The day before the interview would not be recommend under normal circumstances.

OP, in your case, since you have no time to waste -- make sure you have all of the documents required to attend the counseling sessions before you leave your province. You have no room for error with two before you fly. No CFO stickers = no departure.

PhilippinesCFO Seminar

Good day! I'm hoping to get clarifications regarding CFO Certificate and Sticker as we are heading to the states soon.

1. Is 13 y/o girl needs to attend a CFO Seminar ?
2. If yes, can she attend with me on same room or venue as K1 and K2 visa holder?
3. Can we make reservation seats ahead by calling the CFO office ?
4. For those who have experienced attending, which CFO office do you recommend ? I heard of PRISM and St. Mary?
5. Which is nearer or convenient to go if we come from TAFT EDSA (Kabayan Hotel) or perhaps PAL Terminal II ?
6. Can we get the CFO Certificate and sticker right immediately after the seminar ?

I need to determine these things since we already have our plane tickets on hand. Since we are coming from the province, we have only like 2 days stay in Manila from the time we arrive and schedule to depart to the US. I'm wondering if we could make it (certificate & sticker on hand) before our departure to the US. I would appreciate receiving any replies to my queries. Thank you very much for all the inputs.

1. Yes she does need to attend a counseling session -- "The Peer Counseling Seminar is a special session for those with ages 13 to 19 years, which aims to prepare them emotionally for the adjustments they will have to take."

2. See #1

3. CFO is on a first come, first served basis.

4. PRISM is the most recommended.

5. PRISM would be the nearest.

6. You get the CFO sticker when you have the visa -- if you attend the counseling prior to your interview or before you have the passport/visa in your hands, you will have to return to CFO with your certificate to get the sticker placed in the passport.

Two days is more than enough time to complete the CFO requirement, I assume since you have your plane tickets already, therefore, you have the visas. In that case, you will get the CFO stickers after you complete the counseling session.

Here is the link to the CFO website.

Philippinesquestion on I-129f
Your fiancee will certainly get a denial if you file the I-129F one day before she is legally free to marry. They (COs) pay attention to the date the I-129F was filed compared to the dates on a divorce decree, dissolution of marriage or annulment.

It's far better to wait two months than to start over completely with a newly filed I-129F.

PhilippinesMailing US Tax Returns From Embassy Manila

Too bad to hear about DHL's problems. I've lived outside the U.S. almost 5 years, and apparently I've missed a lot of this stuff that's happened. The problem is I live in Batangas City and all we have here is DHL and LBC, I've never seen a FedEx office around. But since all I'm doing is mailing tax returns to the IRS center in Austin, TX, I have to assume that DHL would be able to do this for me.

No worries, DHL still has a healthy international business. They just don't do an domestic pick-up and delivery (as in door-to-door) in the U.S., however, they still ship packages and documents that are dropped off at DHL Authorized Shipping Centers.

I guess Tucson doesn't qualify as "in and around" , DHL doesn't hunt here.

Hank, DHL has plenty of love for Tucson. I did a search on the DHL website which revealed 75 results -- 10 of which are located in Tucson proper. Of that 10 -- 9 are DHL Authorized Shipping Centers and 1 actual DHL Staffed Facility.

Oh DHL finds the hunting "in and around" Tucson target rich. Here's the link to location results -- you can see what I saw. I even called three of those locations to make sure live bodies are present.

Problem with DHL is that is not everywhere in the States, they did serious down-sizing and closed many locations a few years back after they where bought by a Germany company.

Yes, DHL did cease domestic pick and delivery operations and close major hubs do the economy and the hair-cut they were taking from FedEx and UPS. However, there's still plenty of drop-off and shipping locations remaining, especially in and around large metropolitan areas.

PhilippinesNOA2 approved! What/how can we schedule?

Thanks everybody! I have a good handle on it. This confirms that we really must have the passport before anything can be done.

Mr. Wally Greene lays it all out for you here in great detail.

At this point you should start preparing your fiancé’s Packet 3.
http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3224.html

Download the K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions. Make sure to have all the requirements in the instructions. Review and go over it 3 or 4 times to make sure all is filled correct.

Now your fiancé will pay and schedule the USEM appointment.

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/

Click on the apply button (Green Button " Apply Now ". Fill out the registration information. It is straight forward.

Click Schedule Appointment
Select Immigrant Visa
Click continue
Select K Visas ( Visa for Fiancée , Visa For Spouse )
Select K1 - Fiancé or Fiancée of U.S. Citizen
Click continue
Fill out all information
Click continue

You will receive a confirmation email of you appointment.

If your are not comfortable with the online appointment system. You can always call and set appointment via phone.

To schedule a visa appointment for IV or K petitions, please contact the Embassy’s Visa Information and Appointment Service at (632) 982-5555 or (632) 902-8930.

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3238.html

You will now pay for you the fiancé I-129f petition there in Philippines. Fee is U.S. $350 / P15,218. Send a little extra as it is bases on current exchange rate. Cash payment at any Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) branch. Just go into the branch nearest to her and tell them you are paying for K-1 Visa application fee. They will know what to give her to fill out. If she is unsure on what to fill out ask the staff there to help her fill it out.

BPI Branch Locator:
http://info.bpiexpre.../BranchesSearch

Require documents at BPI:
Passport and MNL number

When filling out the online applicant or speaking to the USEM agent. You will need the receipt number on the receipt from BPI.

USEM will give her some dates to choose from. Once she selects a date. Appointment is set!! You can reschedule but they will push you further in the month or next month.

Your fiancé will need to prepare for her Medical at St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLEC)
Required Documents:
http://www.slec.ph/u...l#required-docs

Pre-register online and have her print out this letter. This is the appointment letter she needs to present at SLMEC.
http://www.slec.ph/us/registration/

Medical fees are: 15 years and older USD 213.35 / PhP 9,387.50. This is paid at SLMEC.

ST. LUKE'S MEDICAL CENTER EXTENSION CLINIC
1177 J. Bocobo St. Ermita, Manila 1000 PHILIPPINES

If your fiancé passes her Medical They will give her a date to come back to SLEC and get her results and medical will CD of chest X-ray

On the interview date she will have a time most likely 6:00 - 6:30 AM to be at the Manila USEM. She needs to have all her required documents in hand, appointment letter, and passport. Again refer to K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions as for what is needed. Make sure she has all papers organized. It makes for a easier processing at the embassy and shows seriousness. Buy a organizer with tabs. Label the tabs for each requirement.

Once at the embassy, she will fall in line. They will take her appointment letter, check passport and assign her a number. At the embassy they don't allow any electronic devices.

You are not allowed to enter the U.S. Embassy/Consulate while carrying any of the following items:

battery-operated or electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops, or portable music players
large shoulder bags/purses - only bags that can be carried by hand will be permitted
bags such as travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather, cloth bags, and zip folders - you can only carry plastic bags containing application-related papers
food items (refreshments are available for purchase in the waiting area)
sealed envelopes or packages

sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files
weapons or explosive materials of any kind

If she needs her cell phone they will ask her to check it in at the security section. They will give her a card so she can retrieve at the end of interview.

They will give her a form to fill out on how to deliver the passport with visa. Either it's deliver to her home address or she can go pick it up at a 2GO location.

Once inside, she will need to look on the board for her number to be called. She will go to the window and ask for her paperwork. Then she will be finger printed. They will tell her to wait again. Once her number flashes again, she will have her first interview with Filipino consulate. They will ask her a few questions and check and process her documents. (MAKE SURE SHE HAS ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS). If all is in order she answered all questions to satisfaction. She will then wait again for her number to flash again on the board. Then she will have her final interviewer US consulate. Consulate will process her paperwork and ask a few questions. If all is in order she will be told to wait again for her number to flash. Then she will go to the 2GO window where they will take her passport. They will give her a receipt (make sure to ask if they do not give one).

That's it for the USEM interview. You can now breathe a little easier.

Now if there is a problem. They will give a 221g form and state what the issue is. Now you will need to get them whatever they want in order to proceed. Now this is pull a long process when your in Admin Review. Look on VJ for Admin Review stories.

It will take 5 - 10 days for 2GO to receive visa and passport from USEM.

The following is from the CFO website:

Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program

Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;

Duly completed guidance and counseling form;

If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)

Other documents as may be required by the counselors <-----------------------------

Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

CFO link.

The following forms may come in handy:

Sworn statement that advice of parents or guardian has been asked. (for those who are 21-24 years old)

Consent to marriage of a person under age. (for those who are 18-20 years old)

Marriage applicants who are age 18 to 21 must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry). The revised Family Code of the Philippines, which took effect on August 4, 1988, prohibits marriage for individuals below the age of 18.

U.S. Department of State link.

The quote above is from the section where they are talking about getting married in the Philippines. However, the CFO has been known to require parental advice or parental consent from K-1ers.

It's all on the Consular's discretion whether they require consent from a parent or guardian.

You don't schedule the medical, it's first come-first served. However, you can register for the medical which will save your fiancee time on the day of the actual medical. Here is the link to St. Luke's.

Now the interview you can call or you can pay the visa fee at any BPI branch, then several hours later, log in here to set up the interview. You can not set up the interview until your fiancee has her passport, she needs the passport to even pay the visa fee. Basically -- you're stuck until you get that passport.

Or you can read this thread, (the link is below) specifically post #7 by Wally Greene to get the full details of what you need to do to move forward after your fiancee has her passport.

I FORGOT!

Check the RESIDENCY requirements of your state when enrolling in community colleges. Sometimes, it is wiser to wait a year before enrolling so that you could avail of in-state tuition.(out of state tuition are astronomical even in Community Colleges)

Not sure how it is in OK, but that's how it is here in CA. Just check.

Also, when you enroll, just try to apply for Financial aid, you might get some stipend but the most important thing is to get your tuition waived. Save your money to cover the books (which are astronomical too). Lucky if you get a grant.

Not sure if it will apply to you too but IMO, going to college will likely be your best way to get acquainted to US lifestyle over getting introduced to "Filipino communities" (who by large, especially the older ones can be 1-arrogant when it comes to fellow Filipinos 2-too intrusive in your personal life)

I had an old Filipina lady who asked me how long have I been here when I told her how, she was like "ay, masnauna kami dito"(ang yabang). Pasalamat siya di ko pinamukha sa kanya na pingananak na US citizen nanay ko. Sabi ko lang 10 years na nanay ko dito.

There is just something annoying in the way some Filipinos here in the US ask.

I think you will really enjoy community college here. They really rock. I'm currently at Allan Hancock in CA

That has been the experience of many newly arrived Pinays/Pinoys. A Pinay that is married to a man that is not of the preferred racial group can get a double dose of arrogance and backbiting from those long established here.

You mean they will credit my previous classes? I'm working with my TOR now most of my class when i was still studying ECE . Classes are just the same as in Tulsa but not sure if they will credit that.

Wow so it means i can start enrolling this year so by august i can start my college there? :P sounds exciting , yepie i will bring my TOR with me hope they will credit some of my classes so it won't take long for me to finish my college.

I have few filipino class but that's okey if they will not credit that , most of major classes are english anyway so i think they will credit that one hopefully :) thank you for the response guys ;)

Yes some of your classes very well could be credited toward the completion of a degree. The credential evaluation agency will evaluate your classes based on the criteria they use to do so, if the classes meet those standards, they will credit those classes.

Depending on the credential evaluation agency and their protocol, some agencies will not accept transcripts you submit to them -- the transcripts must be sent directly from the school you attended in the Philippines to the credential evaluation agency.

Just to be a little more clear, in my first post, in no way did I mean to imply you had to wait until you have your GC when I used the term "LPR" -- I should've used 'legal resident,' considering you'll be admitted to the US legally. There are untold thousands attending colleges and universities here that have zero, nada, none and zilch legal status. As others have stated, you can attend school prior to receiving your GC. If you're breathing -- you can attend college/university in the US.

PhilippinesSchool Documents?

Me and my Fiance discuss about my college when i get to states but the problem is i don't know what docs do i need to bring there?
I'm not a college graduate but i had previous years in college of the following program.

4 years of Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering ( ECE )
2 years of Information Technology (IT)

What docs they required? Can i enroll once i received my GC if ever ? Or i need to wait until my citizenship changed to permanent residence before i can enroll to college.

I'm really confused , i have all the docs when i was still in high school like diploma , good moral etc but i don't know if my college transcript will be used there? I have two transcript of record since i went to two different schools. I really need an answer for this one so i will know what docs do i need to bring to states when i leave :) thank you so much!

You won't need to wait to be a citizen to attend college, you may do so as a LPR. For sure bring your transcripts with you, all of them -- including your diplomas. When you talk to the admissions counselors at your preferred school, ask them about having your already completed classes evaluated.

Colleges and universities work with credential evaluation agencies -- so you may not need to take as many classes in pursuit of your degree.

wow so even for us CR1 can do that advance scheduling of appointment for medical and USEM interview? in my case i just had ds3032 sent to them then still waiting for the next steps to proceed for NVC stage.

The medical at St. Luke's is first-come-first-served, you can register online only for the medical -- you can not make an appointment for the medical.

In your case, I replied (the first reply in this thread) and posted that link to a thread that should answer your questions, there you can read the experience of others pursuing a CR-1 visa.

If the NVC sent the MNL number to the Embassey, how long before BPI has record to receive payment?

Also we pay Visa fee first and schedule the interview before the medical? Where do we pay for the medical?

Do not wait for NVC to forward your case to USEM, when your fiance gets notified by email or text message the K-1 has been approved, give USCIS several days to transfer the case to NVC. Then have your fiance call NVC to get the MNL# -- then follow the instructions I posted click here in post #7.

Yes, visa fee before medical -- medical fee to be paid at St. Luke's.

what other requirements are required for the marriage?

SSN is it a requirement too? or after we get the marriage license, I can apply for SSN?

That depends on the state where you plan to get married -- each state has different requirements. No one can answer your question until the state where you will get married is known. It's a good idea to bring extra copies of important documents to the U.S. with you. No documents will be returned to you by USEM. You can apply for a for SSN before marriage.

PhilippinesPinay Friend Locations

I have 2 suggestions,

1. Find a Filipino store near you. They will have all her foods (you won't be able to pronounce), weird looking vegetables and frozen fish. The stores are a great place to find Fil-Am organizations and meet other pinays. My wife went inside our local store one day and met a Filipina who knew of a job opening where she worked. My wife left the store with a name and phone number. 2 years later my wife is still working there and loving it. Her best friend works there as well.

2. As most Filipino's are Catholic, take her to church if she wants. She will find many friends there as well.

My wife is from Tandag, Mindanao. We reside in the Florida panhandle.

Best Wishes.

PhilippinesTime vor medical/interview - Manila

Thanks everyone. What is the normal wait for interview once I set her time for medical? I guess I am trying to say what is the lead time wait if for example I wanted her interview October 1st as her medical is September 20th. Do I schedule it all September 1st or is the wait time longer? I heard in Manila interviews are sometimes 4-6 weeks in waiting once you schedule.
BTW internationla communication glitch between my fiancee and me... I should have paid the extra 500p to expedite her passport..:( I thought she said it was only 2 week different from normal delivery. it is a month :( ET now for filing is end of April instead of the 1st. Oh well Uncle Sam will get paid first on the 15th... Ouch! Thanks again!

See Hank's reply to your question. However, I will add this, the dance between the medical and the interview is balanced by what the needs are of the beneficiary/petitioner. Some Pinays fly to Manila from the far flung provinces -- they try to get interview and medical done in the same week, so as to lessen any financial burden two trips might place on the petitioner. If finances are not a concern -- then that method would not apply to you.

In your case, if you want your fiance to interview on 10/01, then select that date when you log into the interview schedule portal, well in advance of 10/01. After which, have your fiancee register online for the medical -- then proceed to St. Luke's on 09/20.
