Patience is golden! Panic and stress are killers, relax, there is nothing to freak out over. The norm for the interview portal to accept your payment info is 4-24 hours.

Philippinesthis so bs this so so bad! ao upset what is going on

Counseling course

My fiancée went to counseling course (two hour course) after K- 1 visa approved. They will not except her parents notarized. They now want their parents approval hand written and notarized. They further want more requiring actual photo graphs that can be notarized by a photo person that took the pictures.. What is going on? This so BS

sorry I did not write evey thing right but these are the facts

The hoops they are making your fiancee jump through would be item #4 below or otherwise known as "gotcha."

You have no choice but to give 'em what they want -- this smells like SMEF-COW is the counseling provider, they are well known for playing hardball.

Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program
  • Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;
  • Duly completed guidance and counseling form;
  • If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)
  • Other documents as may be required by the counselors; and
  • Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

So basically you have to determine if you want to do a round trip drive from Cinci to Orlando or a one way drive from Orlando to Cinci.

I remember your ordeal with the expired visas, your write up about the entire ordeal will make for an interesting read.

Good luck Jim!

Yeah, by all means stay with your family in the (US citizen lane) immigration line, so you're all together as your fiancee hands over the immigration envelope, then all can proceed to and clear customs together.

Hey Jim,

Glad to hear things are finally nearing a happy conclusion. I am with you I would bring those extra copies to the interview also.

The embassy interview will be a breeze, expect them to ask you as many, if not more, questions then Eve... , they did when we did the interview in March. I was not expecting that and was caught off guard not really paying attention. The gathering point is over by the walkway over Roxas street, the line for the K-1 was the one closest to the wall, I would guess the IR/CR -1 would be the same line but trust me there are plenty of people to ask. About 6AM the guards will start moving the lines over closer to the embassy, at 630 it really gets moving.

I have no suggestions for hotels as we are here in Taguig City so it was a taxi ride for us on interview day. Today we are heading to the airport... two months has past, now its time to head home.

All the best.

Have a good trip Hank.

Ya know the embassy actually does tell visa holders to attend the CFO seminar. Ya know that WARNING letter that included with the visa? If you read it all the last page is about the CFO with detailed info even. Of course I didn't pull that letter out of the plastic bag until two days after we were here in the states!

You mean the letter that some beneficiaries seem to not read, that letter? How else would one show up to the airport without the sticker?

Glad you and Amy made it home safely!

Hey, that's really good to know! It will help us a lot once we get our NOA2, which should be in about 3 more weeks. Rather than staying in Manila for an extended time, we might just be able to keep it to a month or possibly less, including visa pickup and flight scheduling. Good news, that!

You should be able to get all three items completed within a 5-7 day period.

Is CFO done before or after the interview, or does it matter? Is it offered in Bacolod or only in Manila? Is there an associated fee? How many days is it? I had not heard of it before, so sorry for all the questions.

So you all think my fiance will be okay to fly up to Manila for, say, one week to do his medical and interview? Then he'll go home to Bacolod to wait for his passport, wrap up stray ends, and have his despedida before flying back to Manila and out to the US.

Read this or ask more questions. Yes, the required CFO counseling can be done before or after the visa is issued.

@beckyo he can have his CFO seminar here in manila and i suggest to go to PRISM coz theyre not that strict there,,i know CFO was not mentioned but it is a requirement of PH government..i was with this girl yesterday and she suppose to leave sunday but the immigration hold her and did not let her in... he can have his cfo and if he doesnt have his visa yet he can inform the officer in CFO that he will just get his sticker at the airport..cfo cost 650 in total..250 for counseling and 400 for the sticker,if he decided to go to prism he will undergo counseling first and get the sticker in different location which is the CFO office..PM me if you have questions ill be glad to help you

OP, there have been beneficiaries that completed the medical where there was not enough time for SLMCEC to get the medical file over to USEM, in those cases, the medical was given to the beneficiaries to hand carry and deliver to USEM.

Yes, you can get it all done in the same week -- been done plenty of times before. As already mentioned, do not forget the required CFO counseling.

You're really over thinking this -- you have the MNL # and the appointment is set. But if you want to reschedule based on what is convenient for you, then do so, but there is no need to worry if Manila will have the case by the interview date -- they will have it.

PhilippinesConfusion on Parental Advice for CFO Seminar for 25 yar old fiancee

Whats the source. I looked all over the internet and had mixed revuews ob the 24 abd 25 year still requiring it. I sent a message to CFO Cebu inquiring. I hope they reply back, bu they probably won't.

From the Family Code of the Philippines. So Rick it's 21-25 for advice and 18-21 for consent.

Art. 14. In case either or both of the contracting parties, not having been emancipated by a previous marriage, are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, they shall, in addition to the requirements of the preceding articles, exhibit to the local civil registrar, the consent to their marriage of their father, mother, surviving parent or guardian, or persons having legal charge of them, in the order mentioned. Such consent shall be manifested in writing by the interested party, who personally appears before the proper local civil registrar, or in the form of an affidavit made in the presence of two witnesses and attested before any official authorized by law to administer oaths. The personal manifestation shall be recorded in both applications for marriage license, and the affidavit, if one is executed instead, shall be attached to said applications. (61a)

Art. 15. Any contracting party between the age of twenty-one and twenty-five shall be obliged to ask their parents or guardian for advice upon the intended marriage. If they do not obtain such advice, or if it be unfavorable, the marriage license shall not be issued till after three months following the completion of the publication of the application therefor.A sworn statement by the contracting parties to the effect that such advice has been sought, together with the written advice given, if any, shall be attached to the application for marriage license. Should the parents or guardian refuse to give any advice, this fact shall be stated in the sworn statement.

I gotta say it, those ladies doing the counseling -- SUCK! I think sometimes they have a hard-on for Filipinas leaving the country, mixed with a bit of contempt for America.

Then CFO office is not far, after orientation take a taxi to CFO, its on Pres Quirno blvd. not sure of the spelling lol. This is your best bet, they dont hassle you on the paperwork as much as the other place that offers the seminar.

Yeah they can be witches at SMEF-COW, PRISM tends to be a bit less of a hassle.

PhilippinesCFO Orientation
Another example of how out of control those folks can be at the counseling sessions.

"The lady at the CFO Orientation asked her for my proof of support and proof of employment. Right when things seem to be over the Lady wanted to see my driver’s license. Luckily we included the license in the document binder. Then she asked for a copy of my Passport. Then the lady asked her Parents to produce their driver’s licenses."

Sounds like the documents got misplaced from when USCIS did the background check on you and your fiancee so they need to find them or worse... replace them.

How long you will have to wait seems to depends on when they find/get those documents. Once they have those "security documents" all should be fine.

Doubt if calling your senator will help, unless he knows where those documents are...

PhilippinesNeed friends here...
There isn't a big Filipino population (community) in Temecula. However, there is a decent number of Filipinos in Temecula and Murrieta, the city next door to Temecula. Have you attend the Catholic church in Temecula? You're bound to see or meet other Filipinas there.

Pechanga is located in Temecula -- have you gone there for dinner or to see a show? Pechanga features lots of entertainment and good restaurants. On the weekends, the place attracts lots of Filipinos. In fact, Lea Salonga will be there in April -- for sure the place will be loaded with Filipinos. Ask your husband to take you there for dinner, drinks, dancing or whichever of those activities suits you.

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Rather than address each of your points, I'll keep it general. Your list seems to be a bigger issue for those that want to "go-fast" or have the need to have a rocket beneath their crotch. HDs are not designed to be crotch rockets with 'peel your face back' performance, there are other manufacturers that fill that need -- good thing the bike market provides for the needs/likes for all motorcyclists, HDs are less about how fast you arrive and more about enjoying the ride and comfort along the way.

I haven't had an issue with anything you listed, my CVO 110 Street Glide has all the power I need to pass/accelerate and get me to my destination, at my age, I want to survive to ride another day. Zero-to-60 in 2 seconds does not impress me anymore, at age 21 and stupid, yes it did -- at 49, no thanks.

PS. Loud pipes are not synonymous with HDs. :D

You will not get vaccinations that are not age appropriate, only what is/and if necessary. No need to have it done outside of SLMCEC, your medical fee will cover that.

Leatherneck THANK YOU SO MUCH for your post, appreciate that! Yeah, I know it's not my problem, just concern about a friend. THANKS anyway

Welcome!

It is your friend that needs to be very concerned. Then the question she will have to ask and answer, was it really worth doing things the wrong way once caught?

The killer part about people like your friend, they paid the same fees and it was the same process for them as those that did it right. Not sure why one would pay the same fees to do things wrong, where is the perceived advantage?

PhilippinesGot married in the Philippines but on a K1 Visa application
I'm curious why you would even care what others are doing if you're here in the U.S. already? You sound rather bitter and envious that others might have been unethical in their approach in the petition/visa process. Let USCIS deal with those folks that take unnecessary chances and violate immigration law. People like that usually screw up along the way because they feel embolden then get caught.

You can have peace of mind in the fact you did it properly, they have to look over their shoulders and wonder if the next step will reveal their deeds. They will always be trying to cover any previous violations of immigration law, you do not have the same worries.

Be concerned not about them, they are never safe once they've lied on any immigration form or to and immigration official.

Cash payment at any Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) branch. Just go into the branch nearest to her and tell them you are paying for K-1 Visa application fee. They will know what to give her to fill out. If she is unsure on what to fill out ask the staff there to help her fill it out.

BPI Branch Locator:
http://info.bpiexpre.../BranchesSearch

Passport and MNL number

When filling out the online applicant or speaking to the USEM agent. You will need the receipt number on the receipt from BPI.

USEM will give her some dates to choose from. Once she selects a date. Appointment is set!! You can reschedule but they will push you further in the month or next month.

On the interview date she will have a time most likely 6;00 - 6:30 AM to be at the Manila USEM. She needs to have all her required documents in hand, appointment letter, and passport. Again refer to K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions as for what is needed. Make sure she has all papers organized. It makes for a easier processing at the embassy and shows seriousness. Buy a organizer with tabs. Label the tabs for each requirement.

Once at the embassy, she will fall in line. They will take her appointment letter, check passport and assign her a number. At the embassy they don't allow any electronic devices.

You are not allowed to enter the U.S. Embassy/Consulate while carrying any of the following items:

battery-operated or electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches, pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops, or portable music players
large shoulder bags/purses - only bags that can be carried by hand will be permitted
bags such as travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather, cloth bags, and zip folders - you can only carry plastic bags containing application-related papers
food items (refreshments are available for purchase in the waiting area)
sealed envelopes or packages
cigarettes, cigars, match boxes, lighters
sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files
weapons or explosive materials of any kind

If she needs her cell phone they will ask her to check it in at the security section. They will give her a card so she can retrieve at the end of interview.

They will give her a form to fill out on how to deliver the passport with visa. Either it's deliver to her home address or she can go pick it up at a 2GO location.

Once inside, she will need to look on the board for her number to be called. She will go to the window and ask for her paperwork. Then she will be finger printed. They will tell her to wait again. Once her number flashes again, she will have her first interview with Filipino consulate. They will ask her a few questions and check and process her documents. (MAKE SURE SHE HAS ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS). If all is in order she answered all questions to satisfaction. She will then wait again for her number to flash again on the board. Then she will have her final interviewer US consulate. Consulate will process her paperwork and ask a few questions. If all is in order she will be told to wait again for her number to flash. Then she will go to the 2GO window where they will take her passport. They will give her a receipt (make sure to ask if they do not give one).

That's it for the USEM interview. You can now breathe a little easier.

Now if there is a problem. They will give a 221g form and state what the issue is. Now you will need to get them whatever they want in order to proceed. Now this is pull a long process when your in Admin Review. Look on VJ for Admin Review stories.

It will take 5 - 10 days for 2GO to receive visa and passport from USEM.

If you fiancee is under 25 yrs. She will need a written consent letter from her parents or a parent will need to be there with her to give consent of there child's marriage.

> If you are between the ages of 21-24, CFO may require you to submit a letter of parental advice to marry.

> If you are between the ages of 18-20, CFO may require you to submit a letter of parental consent to marry.

Here's why you didn't see anything on the CFO website about those requirements:

The following is from the CFO website:

Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program

Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;

Duly completed guidance and counseling form;

If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)

Other documents as may be required by the counselors <-----------------------------

Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

CFO link.

The following forms may come in handy:

Sworn statement that advice of parents or guardian has been asked. (for those who are 21-24 years old)

Consent to marriage of a person under age. (for those who are 18-20 years old)

Marriage applicants who are age 18 to 21 must have parental consent in writing, those age 21 to 25 must have written parental advice (a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry). The revised Family Code of the Philippines, which took effect on August 4, 1988, prohibits marriage for individuals below the age of 18.

U.S. Department of State link.

The quote above is from the section where they are talking about getting married in the Philippines. However, the CFO has been known to require parental advice or parental consent from K-1ers.

It's all on the Consular's discretion whether they require consent from a parent or guardian.
