wow thanks for that info PW and sillygirl (for her post). i am planning to go to his interview. bahala na kung meron pang uncertainties si mister consular officer mag make out nalang kami in front of him... hahaha i hope it wont get to that point but desperate situations call for desperate measures. we were planning to ask nga the consul person if we can come back and pick up the visa nalang... atat eh noh??? i know it's bad to do travel arrangements before the visa is issued but im hoping and praying that everything will be okay so i went ahead an booked it. even planned to get married sa sabado ng thanksgiving since his family (cousin) overthere is inviting us to spend thanksgiving with them. grabe ang timing sobra, we fly back on the 21st of november, i go to work on the 22nd, then after work drive na to vegas. KABALIW! hahahaha

grabe i cant imagine, after all this wait, planning a wedding, then getting ready for an interview makes time fly faster. days are longer but all in all it's pretty quick na from knowing the interview date...

btw, CUTE PIIIIIIC :)

gary, it took us about a month and a half... uling and karel pm'd me about checking the appointment dates online. luz will be receiving the packet 4 shortly after you find out the interview date via the link on ulings timeline. i hope that helps

sillygirl, you were able to pick up the visa? how did you go about notifying that you will be picking it up? i was thinking if we had the option to do that then we might as well take the extra travel time to do so...hope someone can help :)

glad to be of help. btw, if i were you id try giving them a call on monday and make sure that you call first thing in the morning. the immigrant visa unit that handles this opens at 730 Am so just make sure you call around that time and have them on speed dial....

i agree with windchaser... especially if they will probably not be able to answer most of your questions.... hehehe

hi ron may, call the nvc every two days, theyll probably have an answer for you by then. once your packet is sent out to the embassy in manila (information that NVC can provide you) call the 528 6300... it;s much better than talking to someone in the 1-909 at least in my experience as well as uling's (i think).

in most normal cases unless there is reason to expedite the case, the manila embassy sends out a packet of instruction (packet4) as well as forms to be filled out by the beneficiary, and included in this packet are dates which includes both the medical and interview dates. in our case, the 2 day medical is gonig to be held a week prior to my fiance's visa interview.

some people (as of late) get packet three which pretty much just informs them that the US embassy in manila has received the physical files from NVC. afterwhich i believe they will be receiving packet four.

check out ulings signature, there is a link there to which you can enter your case number and should the system recognize it, then the interview date as well as the medical date will appear.

hope this helps :)

my fiance wants to know what he needs to take to BPI aside from the 100 dollars ... or does it have to be in pesos? does he need to take the letter from the embassy and NOA2?

i know he will receive a Pink slip, but is there anything else that he will need to wait for or request?

thanks for the response. :)

thank you sillygirl! :)) so happy! my fiance just went to the CFO seminar... poor thing i had to wake him up 530Am today. im sure he hated me for it... hahaha he said he was 5th in line. got there at about 15 til 7AM. he said he was a boyscout... he was the first one who finished filling out the paperwork... so proud of him! i listed down the things that he needed to take with him. i think he mentioned he took the whole stack of paperwork that i sent him... he said the only thing missing there was packet 4. thats my boy! hahahahha..

i was at my friends house having dinner and making plans for our wedding. nothing final yet.... but its something better to talk about rather than our old IMBRA conversations and the pain it has caused alot of us. then as i was trying on my wedding dress... hahahaha and he sent me a me a text message. i was running towards my phone, almost ripped the lower part of my dress (it was either too long, or im just hella short) ... thank god i didnt fall. just stumbled a bit. i felt like cinderella running out of the ball at 12... no wonder she left her glass slippers. hahahaha! any who, he told me that his mom sent him a text message, PACKET 4 has arrived. so thats 9-22 philippine tim 9-21 US time... either way, thats good news!

yes cheers to all the filipina ladies in the house, together with all the filipina lovers .... weeeeeeeeeeee

hi guys maybe someone can help me. i guess at this point im kinda lost and would like to know peoples experiences with regards to having their children follow later on in the future (not as a derivatory status).

in filling out one of the forms, i cant remember which i think it is DS156K, there is a question there asking to name the children of the fiance. the following questions are "accompanying you?" (which i answered no to since there are still things that we have to fix with regards to childs b/c) then there is that question which asks whether the "child to follow"...

my question is, well we are planning to have the child follow here if he wills it that way but right now, we have decided to wait a couple of years. What will be my answer to the question that asks "to follow?"

I hope someone can help me... thanks guys, you have always been of great help to us... :D

YYB - You can put none for the question #34 "Name and Relationship of persons Traveling With You." Per the Department of State (DOS), "The child may travel with (accompany) the K-1 parent/fiancé(e) or travel later (follow-to-join) within one year from the date of issuance of the K-1 visa to his/her parent. A separate petition is not required if the children accompany or follow the alien fiancé(e) within one year from the date of issuance of the K-1 visa. If it is long than one year from the date of visa issuance, a separate immigrant visa petition is required." CLICK HERE for more information.

thanks uling. thats how i was planning to do the DS-156 but if you look at DS-156K, number 5, that is where it gets confusing. i was thinking the answer should be no since k2 will not be applied but the phrase to follow is not clear, i mean he CAN follow in 3-4 years but either as a visitor or another petition like you have mentioned above

yeah i understand that part where the child automatically gets derivative status, effectivity of which expires after a year...

but for sure we are not going to file within that year, he is 11 right now, we are thinking 13-16 would give us enough time ... being that the case, i guess your opinion would be to check the Yes box.

Thank you :)

just an update....

we've been approved!

i will have more details later. right now, he's sleeping and resting (had no sleep the night before his interview.)

he mentioned that the Filipina interviewer ask for the basic questions and was focusing on the pictures and letters/emails...and did not ask for a lot of documents that he had (not even phone records, joint bank account records, etc.)

the CO only ask the basics too and then they talked about the pictures and where in the Philippines that resort that we went to.

thanks for all y'all's help. i know for sure it won't have gone this smoothly without this forum...specifically this thread.

thanks for the stages pw, also thanks for the kind advice that you have given all of us Newbies as well.... you hve been nothing but nice and helpful to us...like i said, i dont know how you do it. but im learning... hahah i think im in zombieland right now....

like i mentioned in my post earlier, its easier to control your own emotions but that of some one elses. there arent enough encouraging words to say at times and alot of questions that i myself cannot answer. as much as i prepared ourselves for this, i think you can never prepare enough especially when things are not in your control. also, things get quite difficult especially when there are so many other factors and other people affected ... its not just the waiting...
im always praying for the best. with god's guidance, things will turn out fine for all of us. i know it will. and you are right, in the end, the end result is what counts.

BOW! hahahha

Problem is, they still have not updated it for anything past august. they may be replacing that list with the case number lookup but that doesn't work either according to some other people and I verified myself it's not working.

I think the best thing that Yna can do right now is to call the customer service hotline, that's where you can get the most real-time info from your case.

thanks brit! :) i am planning to call... would anyone happen to know the number that i can call? what i have right now c/o ULING is 632 582 6300 x5184 or 5185. is this right? i figured if id call on sunday then i should be able to talk to someone in Manila to help me out.

Hi all,

The people at the st luke's clinic will determine which shots you need and will provide those to you (typically) on the 2nd day of your medical exam for free

from my experience, i was only given the MMR shot (mumps, measles, rubella) and i was given a sheet of paper telling me i need to get the Td shot (tetanus/diphteria) in the US (because apparently they dont have that vaccine here -- some people have said tho that if you have a private doctor or such in the philippines you can probably get that shot but it's a bit expensive)

i havent asked how much this Td vaccine costs here so i cant share that info with you...neither do i know how much it costs there

anyhow, just wanted to assure you that the shots is the last thing you should worry about...the people at st luke's have got that covered

goodluck!

thanks jeeleebee for the information. im thinking perhaps my fiance can get an early medical appointment, figure out which ones he still lacking based on the list and have the other missing shots administered in manila if they do not offer it in st. lukes... :)

on a lighter note, are you excited? it's three days away! congratulations! :)

djcess, dont worry about the pain... it shouldnt hurt too much. im terrified of needles too so i know how you exactly feel but im sure it's going to be fine. it's just like a bee sting... the thing is, the bee is as big as JOLIBEE... :o yak corny! :P

hahaha it wouldve been funnier if it were said in tagalog but oh well...

Vaccinations are not required for the K-1 Visa and are therefore not included in the price of the med exam.

This is not correct. It is true that vaccinations are not required for the K-1 visa, but
St Luke's does offer most of them and there is NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. Any shots given are included in the price of the med exam.

Marlene was given 3 at no additional charge.

Thanks for the correction. That was not what I understood. I will have my fiance get hers there then. Those vaccinations here in the states would probably set you back $200 or $300 easy.

thanks john and marlene and dean... its good to know that they offer these shots free of charge. well not totally free... i mean included in the price. i will let my fiance know that he doesnt have to go out of his way to get these shots done. Will they be providing you a record of these shots so you can sumbit them for the AOS?
