heheheh uling, funny guy. my fiance's name is not on his child's b/c either. thus the dilema. i think you can ammend the birth certificate if both parents were still alive. in my case, the ex wont cooperate in admmending the b/c. so unfortunately we are unable to take advantage of the derivative status and thus will not file for the child to join / follow option. but we do have a signed affidavit that he is the father if just to prove paternity. ugh now im having butterflies in my stomach again.

hi roy i dont know how she will be able to fix her child's b/c to include the name of the father since he has pssed away. in the form perhaps put N/A since his name was not on the original b/c. not 100% sure but that is what i would do.

just in guys, half an hour ago,i got a text message from my boytoy. he said he was done with his medical... they found him positive...

positive on good looks. ugh i hated him for that long pause. it got me all worked up. then again after the good looks part, i calmed down a little bit and found it to be quite funny :) thanks for your prayers guys. everything else went fine. one down ... flight then interview... ackkk!!!

btw, how much do we have in the YYB is going to faint pot? do i get a cut? hahaha

i asked him to request TD shots from st lukes. apparently the do not administer it anymore... guess they had to cut down on the budget. hayayay... we know a doctor in the philippines who can give him the t/d shots. we just have to purchase the meds from mercury drug. i think we are going to go that route. aside from T/D and Hepatitis B what other shots should be administered? opinions of experienced couples?

thanks guys. Uling , i hope wilma is okay. hahahahha... just read your post about administering the check up... NO COMMENT hahahahahha... TIGANG!!!! hihihihihi

as for the question whether he felt uncomfortable? hahaha i dont know but he said he thinks he was the only one GUY there who was doing a K1 Visa. the rest were ladies. he said there were other men there but it wasnt for the USE, some overseas workers who went there in a big batch for other consulates. he got "inspected" by a guy doctor. he said he was lucky to have been called to room number 3, guy on room number two was not too friendly...

hey so my fiance is going to get his shots today. he said the Nurse or doctor said that they will be administering the MMR shot on him. i told him to ask them if they can give him a tetanus and diptheria shot as well since has already been paid for. hehehe i hope they give it so we dont have to scramble to find someone here to give it to him for the price of an arm and a leg.

quick question guys. just reviewing the paperwork on DS156, my fiance was refused a Travel Visa so we marked Yes on Item #31.

However, Item number #38 , Second question asks "Have you ever been refused admission toe the US, or been the subject of a deportation hearing, or sought to aobtain of misrepresentation of other unlawful means? ... "

is this a YES or NO answer? Help

Today, Jhen (Wilma) goes to SLEC for the medical exam.

You have day 1 of medical and day 2. What days of the week are for day 1 and what days for day 2? Or does it matter. Just show-up early as possible to be one of the first 100 in-line?

There are no assigned days of activity at SLEC (except they are closed on Sat and Sun... So no activity on those days... LOL). Day 1 is always the medical exam and day 2 is the vaccinations (not required for K1 visas but recommended since it's included in the medical exam fee). Early is better but not like the visa interview. If the beneficiary arrives between 6am - 7am, that will be fine (from what I've read). Cheers!!!

yeah make sure you arrive befor 6. my fiance got there 554 Am and was number 154 in line. all is good. he is on his way to get his shots :)

yeah craziness all around. i used my miles and made sure we can move the date as needed. they said it wont be a problem. however like uling and perhaps what the website says, do not book anything until you get the visa. its a risk and an option to do so.

i dont know about refundable tickets but im sure you can rebook them. i dont know how much they charge. ive had to rebook my tickets twice on separate occassions because of an emergency and cathay pacific did not charge me a single penny for rebooking. thats why i like Cathay Pacific. :) i dont know PAL's Policies on rebooking flights. i think it costs around 50 each time you have to re-book

just my 2cents. maybe someone who has taken their medical already can give a clear idea :)

hi zethris here's the deal, i cant speak for everyone but my own reasons for purchasing tickets prior to visa issuance. if the tickets were bought prior to hand, the usually cost a lot cheaper. i think that is the underlying reason why most of us bought tickets ahead of time. but if you buy the tickets after visa issuance, i dont see that there should be a problem except that it MAY (may being the operative word) cost a little bit more and the chances of running out of seats during peak season is quite high. christmas, new years and the like. other than that, you are free to buy whenever you choose to. :)

for flights to asia, the peak times are a week or two before christmas up to a week after new years. unfortunately though that the prices will start rising again towards the end of january due to chinese new year. then come february prices will go back down.

i hope this helps

Hello Fellow VJers!

Prayers do get answered!!
I got an email back from my Congressman's representative.
"After reviewing our case it has been APPROVED!"

Contacted the representative to make sure my eyes weren't just seeing things (I'm sick with a cold right now!). He said that the embassy will contact him and possible have him pick up the visa and passport (??)
even though he has paid Delbros. Geez, I don't care if they drop it from a Hot Air Balloon - as long as he gets it!

I woke Leonardo up at 4:45 AM with the good news! Of course he is still in a fog and has a silly grin plastered on his face, just like me!
Will call back in a couple of hours and 3way call to tell his Nanay.

OH what a happy day.
Don't know any more details than that right now.
Hope to be married by Christmas and then off to Hawaii for New Years Eve! :D :D :D :D
(L) (L)

yay happy day! :) hope we will all be hearing happy news soon as well :D yay!!!!!!!!

:D we're planning to go back to the states on the 21st of november.

Hoy YYB! My fiancee's flight is on 21 November as well. Maybe I'll see you at LAX... who knows! I planning on showing up at the airport in a suit and a sign with my fiancee's fake name like I'm a chauffeur... She calls me Ahmari Bin Laden (inside joke).... so I will have a sign that reads, "Wilma Bin Laden" I'm sure that folks are going to be looking at me like I'm crazy. LOL!!!

hahahah ... funny ka talaga! so how far is torrance from IRVINE? what flight? eeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkk... ill look for the sign. maybe neil and i will come to you and say hi. i dont know about bin laden. i get the joke i dont know about airport security... thats probably goignt o make them freak out. taking cathay pacific flight, scheduled to arrive in LAX 820PM i think. should i still arrange for pick up? hahaha kidding!!!

speaking of which did you know theyre so paranoid that one time, they scanned my bags and were telling me i had dangerous chemicals conatained in it. ... this was a year ago. they opened my bags , wore gloves and used all these beepy things ... so they went on for like twenty minutes trying to figure out what it was. it was a big deal i was holding up the line. then they found the six pack of zest soap (YES SOAP) that i had for my dad. they were like ahm mam, youre carrying weapons... i was like ahm? SOAP? ZEST? weapons? i wanted to bust out laughing but i think they wont appreciate it. so i told them if they want, they can keep the soap, i just wanted to catch my flight... they said no and left me alone.

i love the inside joke thing, itll be funny, then we will know if it was you. maybe if wilma and i on the same flight, we can all sit together, neil and i will make her kulit! hahahahha

I am probably in the same boat as the majority of you because I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that all of our paperwork and back-up documentation are in order and we are ready for the consular officer. BUT WHY is there still a looming shadow of uncertainty. I would call it doubt but it’s not that… it’s the uncertainty of the unknown due to an extremely subjective process with an extreme amount of responsibility and latitude granted to the decision maker (Consular Officer). I wish that so many before us and in the midst of us would not have tainted the system forcing us into this time-consuming over-validated bottlenecked and subjective process. It may be necessary but I’m still a tad bit frustrated in having to validate my life and love before our lives together can truly blossom. The only great part is that we share in an experience that has truly given me a deeper appreciation for being in love and finally finding the one in which I have been destined to marry. It’s a shame that so many earnest couples have been prolonged in their quest to be begin their lives together. I just wanted to share my thoughts. Cheers!!!

awwwww uling... my negoy brother! id have to agree. no matter how much i rack my brains i think the uncertainty of the whole situation being that our lives and happiness lie in the hands of someone who does not know how we truly feel as well as not experiencing the anguish and stress that this whole process causes us just totally leaves us in the dark. to be judged by someone who knows not one tad of information that underlies the relationship and what not, makes it all the more worse. how can someone judge based on their own feelings or what they read on paper? but that is what destiny has given us. i think, that this process has taught all of us a valuable lesson and taught us to appreciate what we have and who we are sharing it with. in the end, we will all succeed. im a firm believer that life does not grant us something only to take it away, or let us meet somebody special (whom we know will keep us eternally happy) in our lives if we did not deserve it. this special bond that we all share, has hurdles along the way but at the end of this bitter sweet experience, it wil be all worth it. i know it is.

my 2cents.

thanks roymcn ... neeeeerves. gotta calm them down... im going home for the interview and i cant stop thinking what else do i need to take with me.

i have a question. ive read somewhere that on the ds156 form, you have to fill out "self" on line 40. will it be okay if my fiance used a pen to write this down instead of having to fill out another computer generated form?

for ds156K, another question. on the portion that says do not write below this line, a consular officer will assist you... i have read that we should fill out that area prior to submission to the embassy?

i hope someone can help out with this, if we do need to fill this out now or later on. thanks guys

Does anyone know about methods of payment for St. Lukes Medical, do they accept credit card or is it cash only? And I'm assuming that since the visa fee is paid at the BPI bank, it can be paid by credit card or cash?

hi PW is right you have to pay in PHP. sigh one piece of advice, maybe try to find another place to exchange your dollars... banks usually buy the dollars at a way lower rate than other places. my fiance took $100 to BPI, they converted his dollars to pesos.. then he goes to the window for the visa fee and gave what he received from the prior window. the lady said it wasnt enough so he had to add more ... i guess theyre just trying to make business.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Embassy Interview

On the instructions in the K1 packet, the embassy calls for the fiancee's BC as well as BC of children even if NOT coming to America. My concern is that my fiancee's name is NOT on her child's BC.

Because a family friend accepted the child of my fiancee as her own in the first week of its life and registered herself and her husband on the child's BC, my fiancee is NOT named on her child's BC. Nor was there an adoption. Wanting to tell the truth, we revealed the child on the 1-129F, since the St. Luke's would most probably reveal her giving birth.

Though we have obtained the child's BC, will my wife's name NOT being on the BC cause a problem? The child will NOT follow her to America, and we have generated a notorized letter explaining this situation. What might we do to resolve this situation?

Thanks.

hi we are almost on the same situation although my fiance is the biological father, due to drama on the ex's side, she refuses to cooperate as far as correcting the b/c to include my fiance's name in it. my stepson will not be following in the US as a derivative of the k1 visa however his name also appears as part of the petition. we are just planning to explain to the consul the whole situation, as well as provide information notarized affidavits and supporting evidences (TIN and school record) that he is the biological father. it's something that i am worried about but at this point there is nothing that we can do.

im thinking that the petition is only for k1 and perhaps the interview will be geared towards the beneficiary and not their children if it has been clearly stated in the forms (i believe I-134 and one of the DS forms asks if there are people to join or to follow the k1 petitionee) that k2 will not be implemented for the child mentioned on the g325A.

lets keep our fingers crossed and alot of prayers. hopefully our honesty will be sufficient at this point.
