I checked the USCIS website this morning to find that "this case has been approved". We received an RFE on July 3 and approval on August 12. It's moving in the right direction and hopefully will have an interview before the end of the year.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespassport style photographs
hi matt. just have her redo it and make sure that this is for US visa/passport application. there is a document on the USCIS website which tells the size of the photo. maybe have her print it out and show/explain it to the person taking her picture. although the physical features shown is no different from what you have, it may affect your application .... id rather not take the chance. also i agree with ready4one. if she can have the photographer give her a digital copy, then you can go to target or walgreens and have them print it out for you based on US requirements.

hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is it with some lawyers?
When I was going through how-I-should apply for AOS, I definitely didn't want to spend $2k + on hiring a lawyer (since I'm a recent college graduate). Therefore, I went online and typed up topics that I've been searching for regarding marriage and U.S. Immigration. I came across this site: Nolo Fiance & Marriage Visas.

I bought an e-book .PDF version (around $20) from this publishing company to help us figure out what specific documents we need and the steps we need to take before, during, and after. It's a great way to handle the USCIS process on your own with detailed instructions, examples, and guide.

I hope this may help others while they go through their journey with the USCIS.

Cheers,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 and 2 Who? What? When?

Both of you can sign up at https://egov.immigra.../jsps/index.jsp and get email alerts when the status changes. You can also see when your case gets touched. Good luck to you both!!

hello,
we sent our package to nebraska on 17th of february. we got our first receipt on 23th of february. we are still waiting the rest of it. i think nebraska is the slowest service center in these days. it is too hard to wait the one you love from far away from you :(

anyway, if we are lucky we will get some news next month :(

good luck to you. :D

Yeah tell me about it. Somehow VERMONT Service Center seems to be working double time on the petitions. just read one thread where mike already got his NOA2.... lucky KIDS! :D

i know exactly how you feel! anxiety is a killer! hahah... good thing ive been busy at work otherwise id probably just stare at the USCIS email notification thing all day. switching back and fourth from VJ and USCIS.

The NOA1, NOA2, and notice from NVC (some get this, some don't) go to the USC only -- I personally have not heard of any non-USC getting their own copies. *shrug*

Once the petition gets to the consulate, all paperwork then goes to the non-USC.

PS. Relax. :)

Ditto - Make sure you keep the NOA 2, you will need it for AOS

Thank you! Will do that definitely. Luckily i have been pretty good at keeping papework... so much for my obsessive compulsive side.... haha! i guess it's good sometimes... add to that my constant checking of my mailbox.... email and snail mail...

Thank you so much guys... its nice to know that there are people who are in the same boat as i and my fiance.... and who care enough to give encouraging words and sound advices...

:D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 and 2 Who? What? When?
hi guys! ive been going thru topics with regards to Notice of Action letters. Ive noticed that some members' fiance who lives abroad also received a NOA1. If this is the case, should i be worried that my fiance has not received his in his neck of the woods? and if they were to receive it, can anyone give me a guesstimate as to when they would receive their NOA1? i was under the impression that as for NOA1 and NOA2, the petitioner would be the only one to receive these notifications and after it has been approved, then it shall be forwarded to the beneficiary's country's consulate and thats when the beneficiary receives all these paperwork and requirements?

I hope you guys can help me with this question. im such a worry wart....

THANKS MUCH :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDigital Evidence

I have all of my fiancee's and my chats and emails, including e-greeting cards, saved on disk. Over the past 21 months, I have been printing out all the chats and putting them in 3-ring binders (5 full ones so far!!). My original intent is to select one chat and e-mail from each month and print copies to send her to present as evidence of our ongoing relationship at her interview. Has anyone ever presented a CD of the thousands of chats and emails at their interview, besides the hard copies? What does anyone think of this idea?
<We were touched again today! >

Ive done the same thing. kept all the logs in my PC or laptop wherever it is easily accessible for me. however i dont think it would be a good idea to send over a CD or 5 3-ring bound folders with all your chat conversations in it. I think what would be the best way to show that you are in constant communication with each other would be to just print out a conversation that transpired at any random day of each month. That's what i submitted in my i-129f petition. I picked a day out of every month, randomly of course then just printed the logs for that day. It may be a good idea also to label in bigger and bolder letters what day or date the conversation had transpired on top of each log. That should be good enough evidence of an ongoing relationship. :) hope that helps. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGOt NOA2 Today!!!!!

I got an email notification today that our I-129F petition was approved today!!!!

I wasn't worrued but, you just never know. The problem I now face is the fact that I am so happy and pumped up, how do I concentrate for my test tonight?

One more thing, I just don't understand this process. What does this approval mean? It just means that she needs approved at the interview. Since it was approved, the interview should not be difficult unless they find evidence that should overturn this approval. This doesn't seem the case however. It seems that this approval means nothing to them at all. We have nothing to hide, but after reading about the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, I worry to much.

Mike

AKKKKKKKKKKKK MIKE! thats great news!!!! I sent mine on the 9th of March 2006... well officially they have received it on the 10th... but say that they have received it on the 16th... too many dates to remember!!!! now i wish my application process would be just as fast as yours... pray for me pleaaaaaaase!!!!

Still waiting but COnGrRaTuLaTiOnS!!!! Youre one step closer! :D IM happy for you and your S/O

Perhaps what it means is that your petition is pretty much clear of any questionable motives... paperwork wise i guess... so next step is the actual interview, and i guess thats when they talk to your fiancee and verify personally that all information are true and genuine... I have seen some situations in the news where people actually pay other US Citizens to bring them over here... which really sucks because on the otherhand, people like us who are doing this for no other reason but love get to pay the price as well...

siiiiiiigh ...

keeping my fingers crossed

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding and Reception!!!
Definitely! Receipts of any gifts would be a good proof. :) We are in the same boat as you are, everything, all plans are pending until there is an actual visa date. We have booked pre-nuptial photoshoots with a photographer and he was good enough to provide us with a receipt. of course that goes without saying that there was a downpayment. but those are pre-nups. The best way I think what you can do also is ask for quotations from these places. They should be able to send out copies of it via email or snail mail. Its a quotation so that means that the intent to marry is still there, and it should be understandable that everything is pending because the dates are not definite yet. Several quotes from different places might help. just to show as proof...

other than that, planning it online via emails or chat conversations and printing them out may help as well...

just my two cents. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresreceipt number and form I-134 question
hi guys i was just wondering if the receipt number that you obtain when you get your NOA1 changes as the case develops? like does it change in different stages of processing? NOA2, Case number given by NVC, local consulate and so on?

secondly, i have sent my notarized I-134 form (affidavit of support) almost the same week as i have submitted my petition for the k1 visa. since then i have stopped myself from shopping too much and just put in the money i spend in my savings account just in case. my petition is going to the manila consulate which i assume will be processed 4 months from now if we're lucky so im thinking my information would be outdated by then? should i fill out a new i-134 form and have it re-notarized on a date closer to the actual interview or can i go ahead with the original one that i sent out last march plus bank statements that show increased amount in my savings (not like its a whole lot but maybe that would help?)

perhaps someone has any input on this question, it would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks much you all :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you deal with loneliness?
when i get my "episodes" i tend to just concentrate on what i have to do in the office...work,vj, uscis(checking maybe the application has been touched-yeah right! =p), vj, work and more vj. hah! then i come home and cry. it helps alot. :D i go thru phases of depression and optimism all in a span of about 8 hours. crying i guess is the best outlet. just to let all that heavy feeling in your heart out once in a while is good rather than keeping it all inside, bottled up.

i totally understand where each and everyone here is coming from. the few outlets that i have are friends, write blogs, look at past pictures of me and him, read some emails, listen to his music, daydream, write my letters to my mom. she passed away just about three years ago, and i vent in my letters to her, like i would in real life when i talk to her on the phone and imagine what she would say to me, advices that she would give to me if she were alive right now. I pray to god to thank him for alot of things, i thank him because even if i get sad, i can genuinely say that despite this situation, i walk in confidence and say that i am truly at the happiest point of my life. i still ask for more patience in dealing with this whole stressful process, i pray for everyone who is in the same situation i am. I ask god for strength to help me get thru this... in time, we will all be happy. i really am thankful i have come across this site, to know i am not alone in this and that we all have each other to encourage us and help us get thru these tough times.

i do agree with the whole webcam idea, it helps, quite a bit. then there's emails, chatting, VOIp, text messaging, prepaid phone cards, celphones, picture messaging. thank goodness for technology. imagine all those people who had to go thru the same process with just snail-mailed letters? i console myself with that thought. that if they can be together and they got thru these trials with just a pen and paper, what more can we ask for now that we definitely more than one way of communicating with each other

i hope this helps :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 question
hi guys. i wrote earlier asking about this but somehow got no response so im going to try this again. I really hope you guys can help me out.

Ive sent out my K1 visa application last march 9. Shortly after that, I have gathered all the necessary documents needed for the I-134 Affidavit of support. My friend was going to go to the philippines to visit his friends so as a favor, i have asked him to bring over a filled out, notarized I-134 form together with supporting documents.

We havent received our NOA2 yet but from the looks of it, i believe it will be received at around june or july. Im hoping it will be sooner but ... CSC is working at such blazing speed... hehe...

Anyways, I have planned a trip to visit my fiance in the philippines this coming May and i was just wondering if i should fill out another I-134 form to update the information on the form (ive added a bit in my savings) and have it notarized again as well as bring more updated statements in support of it. or will the old filled out one be sufficient enough?

not really sure but i was wondering if there is a time frame given for validity of information... please please help...

Thank you!

:)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThank You

Thanks for you help. Yes i did receive NOA2 April 17,2006 and I was informed that my petition was now being sent to the U.S. Embasy and I will be provided with a unique numberfor my case which i did receive form the United States Department of State National Visa Center. Now I am just waiting for them to send my fiancee her packet so we can get started here. Any idea how long that takes? Petition was sent to Manila. Been a month already so I hope she will receive it soon. Thank You for all your help. Be blessed.

hello you may want to call the embassy in manila to check out if they have already sent out your packet 3. secondly, ask them if your fiance has an interview setup for her already. they usually know the interview date prior to your receiving of your packet. If you have your interview date at least you have an idea on when to schedule to gather all the stuff needed.
