IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2014 Interviews

Husband just spoke to NVC and they scheduled my interview for Nov 12 today. Ahhhh that's so soon!!!  :wow:  I guess I am not used to things moving quickly anymore after being stuck at NVC for 6 months  <_< I hope the folks at the embassy will at least be relaxed and well-rested after Veterans Day  :D
No CC e-mail so far (since 10/3)

London started scheduling interviews two hours ago. I've got Nov 17 :D I've gone a bit giddy but that could be the two stout stouts I had before calling them ;)

Hi thanks for your reply... The issue is that the doctor he saw is no longer practicing here, she has moved away and the gp does not have it in his records. I hope this does not cause issues for us, he sees his gp one last time next Wednesday before we go. I guess I will ask for a printout of whatever records he has and go from there

If there is no record of it, it might cause problems. There should be something somewhere. If there was no record and it wasn't major or chronic depression, I wouldn't mention it. Yes, get the medical records and see if there is anything. There might be a Canadian medical forum on here to ask for advice, if not try the London one. I had two periods of depression but not major and 14 years apart, both reactive and I took a summary page of medical history. They were happy with that.

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on in a few days, seems like there has been a lot to catch up on! It has been a whirlwind here, Monday I got the interview email, called medisys in Montreal to book the medical exam. They wanted to book it Tuesday for a Friday interview but I thought that was just too close for comfort so I made it Monday instead. Even then I will be holding my breath until we have results in hand. Had to book appointment with his gp for vaccinations beforehand, flights to Montreal and hotel for a week, packing up boxes at home, making the for sale sign and website to sell our house, touch up painting around the house, etc. if all goes well we are hoping to list our house the day we get back, would be nice to sell before the brunt of winter sets in.

Question for those who have had their medical already, I saw somebody mention what boxes to tick? Is there a questionnaire to fill out at the medical? Is it the same for all countries? Is it posted online anywhere? My husband had been treated for depression and anxiety but it was years ago, he is fine now, and we don't really have any records that say anything, hope that doesn't mess us up down the road.[/
There is a form you need to fill in before the medical. It's part of the PDF file for your countries medical info on the NVC site. If he has had depression, he will need to a letter from his doctor saying he is ok now and what was prescribed for it, how long it lasted etc. they just want to know he's a not a danger to himself or others.

Thank you - I'm actually more nervous about the medical. Will be panicing until I get that bloody thing done now!

I hear you. I was so scared, I did mine before we got cc to get it out the way but it was fine. Just don't tick any boxes without getting a gp letter to take with you. I took a page of a4 with a brief medical history which they appreciated. My blood pressure was high but had gone back down to normal when I got it checked at home. Just chase your gp up to send Knightsbridge the info they want.

Yes. It's advisable to get them done before the medical. Just make sure you get a letter confirming the vaccinations have been given.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 questions
Hi there, I'm new on here and have a few questions. They have probably been answered before but I haven't seen it. I see people talking about their cases being 'touched'. How do you know? I can only see initial review on my application. Also, does anyone think the process is faster if you have a lawyer and are therefore less likely to have RFEs? I'm a November filer. Thanks in advance.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow Long Until Receive 2nd Notice of Action for I-130

I could be within 6 months, there is no rhyme nor reason for it. Some people get their NOA2 after a few months while others have to wait almost a year but the average is about 6-7 months. Then allow 3 months for state and consular processing.

You've got a transfer, that's great news. Go to the September or October thread, they will be able to give more advice but it's likely you will be approved in the next month or so. You can find the next steps on the nvc March thread.

Sorry, I can't answer your question but if you are Sept, haven't you had your case transferred? Transfers from August and Sept are seeing trickles of approvals. There is every possibility you will be ok by August. But I'm just staying positive, who knows?

http://travel.state....xamination.html go to London PDF file and there is a list of what vacs are required. Most likely you'll need MMR and tdap and after October the flu jab. Print it off and take to your doctors, they should do them free, mine did x

USCIS Service CentersDeportation deferments taking precendence

I saw that. What I don't understand is why an official would say it to a lawyer. Kind of blatant and a bit worrying that there seems to be no attempt to hurry up working on family based visas, especially after that article and the response to the petition and letters in Nov. Can't see them making the 5 months by May at this rate.

USCIS Service CentersDeportation deferments taking precendence

I heard today that someone was told by their lawyer that their I-130 would take another 6-8 months as USCIS is giving precedence to deportation deferment cases. I think they filed in September '13. Sounds bollocks to me. Would a uscis representative say this to a lawyer? In theory, we have priority don't we so why say this? Anyone else heard this? I don't know which centre it is going through.

Wish I knew the answer mate, it's getting frustrating hearing so many different dates from where they are up to. Seen one case go through in a month (inbetween) mine and others getting approved now from April.

USCIS Service Centerswhy K1 applicants are being approved so quick?

I think most SCs are down to 6 months, I know Vermont is up to the second week in October so they are trying (I hope) to get i-130s down to 5 months. Just hope they can keep it there.

I believe less I-130s go to VSC than other centres so the average number of approvals on VJ will a lot less than other centres. They recently did an oct 5th on here.

United KingdomVaccinations required for AOS from UK to US
I think it's just the fear of a medical that is scary for those of us who aren't hypochondriacs. Like will they find something I don't want to know about. Like will they tell my liver is kapput even though I don't drink, much.... Lololol, who am I kidding, I'm British ;) and silly stuff like did my school send all vaccination info to my doctors? I think it's the stress of the whole process which just heightens our fears.

Has anyone been asked to do extra tests that have cost more than the 235? I mean, if you have been a smoker, will you have to pay more for another x ray or sputum test for example? I'm just at the beginning of this and completely lost already, lol.

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors
I didn't post my medical experience on here, sorry. I was following though. Just like to add a couple of things for those yet to have it. The Dr I saw told me they do appreciate letters from GPs ( I took a page of a4 summarising my medical history and signed by my GP). My lawyer, forever wrong, told me they would ignore it. Also, don't tick anything as yes on either questionnaire without a letter from your doctor. A friend got held up two weeks by ticking something and not taking a letter. Her family practice had to be shaken by the coat tails to send the info to Knightsbridge.

United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

Want to add as an epilogue to my tale that I didn't get a call of doom from Knightsbridge (yay!) and that my medical results arrived at the embassy today like the receptionist said they would. Or at least I think they did, because my status update changed to today's date this afternoon.

My status changed to the 23rd as well, wonder if they have added my medical results as well. I did the medical late Sept so I hope so.

Congrats on making it to the next stage!!!!! The worry of getting a checklist is finally over! :joy:  :joy:  :joy:
Still waiting to hear when my interview will be but I'm happy to be finally moving on to the last stage of this process.
All going well we'll be relocating in and around Xmas time

Btw.... I can't believe some people are still at USCIS, how awful!!  :crying:

Thank you and keeping everything crossed for all of us to be home for Xmas. Are there really still peeps at uscis from November?

I received a checklist for my I-864 form day before yesterday because item 7 in part 3 did not match the number entered in Part 5 item1.

Is this minor error going to cause additional delay of another 60 days?

Does anyone know if it is a minor error as stated above do they go through my file again quickly or will i go back to the bottom of the totem pole?

I have a horrible feeling it will cause a delay but they do seem to be working faster on checklists than IV dates. So sorry you got one :(

thank you for the information
I  dont understand where things  like depression come into the immigration area - their job is just to make sure that no-one has anything that transgresses immigration rules - ie HIV/Tb etc etc.
Anything else is NOT within their remit.
I suspect that they are carving out a very nice extra income for themselves with more tests/visits etc = more fees!

good luck on monday

Thank you. It's to do with mental disorders, not becoming a public nuisance etc. that's why they ask for the PCC. Like an arrest connected with alcohol or drugs etc and if you're still using then you might be a risk.

least said - soonest mended - these medical goons don't have your medical records and quite frankly the whole exercise is about making sure you wont be a burden on the state once there - so why don't they ask for proof/evidence of planned insurance cover instead of going through this degrading farce?
of course it provides them with a handsome income....

ps so i could in theory book a medical now before CC?

are you going to bentinck mews or the other one?
did you get a choice?

Bentinck is the only one now I think. Yes, you could book it. Only need case number. I just didn't want to leave it I case I got a chest infection and had to go back six weeks later so close to Xmas. If you'd had depression, they want a note from your gp and I just didn't think they'd believe me that I hadn't suffered emotionally while living with doma. If they need more info, I've left myself time. I just want to get my ducks all in order, lol.

It's a broken system - however I am reading that for some reason they (and who is they?) have decided to prioritise
K1 cases - these are going through in a few weeks from NAO2 to interview!!!!

like so many we have been stuck at NVC for months while nothing is done on our case -
and now the degrading and ridiculous in these times "medical"  to look forward to eventually ... (I'm only surprised they don't still spray us with de-lousing powder...)

I've got my medical booked for next Monday. Nerves setting in cos I had a bout of depression years ago and have needed help getting through doma and now this ridiculous process. London you can book before CC and I just wanted it over with. Just hoping no issues.

Came upon this and wanted to share ....

Nvc have a backlog due to being off-line for 6-8 weeks for a computer upgrade, the increased work load from additional adjustment of status cases, and the  increased case load from the sudden influx of cases from the INS after the CIA hold ended.  They indicated that they basically have no backlog concerning changes of address.  These inquiries are handled in 2 days.  The backlog for general correspondence is about 2 2 months, and attorney correspondence is 6 weeks.  They note that attorney correspondence does not typically ask priority date information. The NVC is trying to reduce this backlog.  Unfortunately, under the new contract, the DOS has with their processing contractor, they are not allowed over time.  They are working on this issue, but it causes additional processing problems.

Where did you find this? Got a link?
