FYI - New interviews until Feb. 12th show on the site the embassy this morning! A Wed. even! Luda tells me that on a Russian site one woman knows her interview is scheduled on Feb. 16th! How do others get this info? I called Moscow embassy phone service and NVC again this morning. Both places say they can not even tell me our petititon was received in Moscow. NVC person denied they have ANYTHING to do with interview dates. Jason, if you see this... How did you find out that yours was delivered to the embassy? I was told again to wait at least a month before trying the embassy paid phone service...

I got the shipping date from NVC. the date they sent it to Moscow. I tracked the package through DHL. Its a really neat trick that a couple of guys came up with. Worked beautifully. Its in the NVC forum. Listed as something like "how to track your petition from NVC to Embassy".

Thanks Jason! It took a lot of tries and a lot of patience but it finally worked. Lots of error came back at first. whistling.gif At least I feel reasonably comfortable that it was delivered! smile.gif Keep warm on your trip to Moscow... November there was no cake-walk!

OMG!! "Up to 6 weeks" sounds like a cop-out to get you off the phone! blink.gif If I were you, I would either wait out an email response from the embassy.... or go right to a member of Congress and ask for their help!! 3-4 weeks is what I was told by the paid phone service in Moscow and you are coming up on 5. mad.gif Personally, I am still torn between wasting more money calling them and waiting for the inevitable "Thank you for your inquiry and here is some information you already know" response. wacko.gif

I did not want to intrude on Jason-sasha's topic though mine is closely related.

I received my notice from NVC dated nov7 informing me my petition would be forwarded to Moscow
for an interview date, as of now it is dec 10 and I still don't see her number posted at the website nor has she received any packet.

Does it normally take this long to "get the date"?
If it is past normal time... what should I do?
If anyone has contact phone numbers or addresses that might be helpful, I sent one email to the given address on the Moscow-site but have not heard anything in reply.

Thanks

I would first call the NVC and ask them if their records indocate if the file was sent to Moscow. NVC phone number: 603-334-0700. The second would be what you did, and e-mail Moscow embassy to confirm. (I believe the email is consulMo@state.gov) They will get back to you within a week or so. I hope everything works out really soon.
Good luck,

Mike.

I am in the same "boat" although our petition is not so badly overdue for an interview as yours! I noticed this morning 4 petitions approved by USCIS after our petition already had interviews schedules! I made a call to the phone service and found out nothing and sent an email to the embassy general contact address as well. Hopefully all of us impatient waiting types can all gain some insight into this murky process. The auto-response I have received so far said they "usually reply within three business days". I will post anything useful that I find out. Mike

Does the embassy update their webpage with listed appointments, regularly?

The last 3 updates were 2nd of Nov, then 21st and then Dec 3 (the dates are approximate, +/- day or 2)

You can also e-mail them to ask if the interview has been scheduled, or call the state department (number was posted somewhere on the forum recently)

Hey folks! I called the number given on the Moscow embassy website for information about interviews this morning, gave my credit card number and wasted a small portion of my life speaking to a nice young woman and getting absolutely NO useful information at all! It was just as meaningless as the USCIS operators that apparently read prepared responses off index cards. I was told NO information is available about our application for 3-4 weeks after leaving NVC minimum... including whether it has even been received! I was told I should not even bother calling back for an additional two weeks. I pointed out that I can find information on the internet (VJ) that others visa applications, having left NVC after our application, already have interviews scheduled! That did not put a dent in her story... she is apparently well trained. Does anyone have a backdoor method of finding out info? I see other people have updated their timelines with receipt dates at the embassy! unsure.gif

QUOTE (seanconneryii @ Dec 26 2007, 05:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello fellow Russian forum friends! Happy holidays!

I would like to send my wife who lives in Siberia (until our immigration service gets its head out of its ###) so I would like to send her a Christmas e-card. I could send one in English but I thought it would be nice surprise to send one in Russian. My only problem is I can't read Russian so this will be a tricky task.

Can anyone help me here? Thanks!

This site toggles between English and Russian... Postcard.ru

Hi everyone, I am new here. I assume Russia is considered this but not sure...have the interviews been particularly tough in Russia? Thanks for any info you can give a newbie. :-)
Grahm&Sarah

On the contrary, my wifes K-1 interview was so easy it was a complete joke. No tough questions at all... just asking her easy questions that he already knew the answers to... apparently to check for slip-ups and to make sure it was a real relationship. She took a bound volume of proof that was never even touched. Her friend recently had an interview just as easy.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusGot my ticket!
QUOTE (jake61 @ Oct 29 2009, 03:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It is set in stone now! I have talked to the travel agent and paid for my ticket. The total is 1,153 dollars round trip to Odessa. I paid a little more because I do not have more than 2 hours between flights (layovers) coming or going. And I am flying into Odessa where she wanted to meet me. It was only 50 dollars more for Odessa rather than Kiev. It is United out of Iowa and LOT to Poland and Odessa.

I am staying one month. Leaving Nov 7 and returning Dec 6. I have heard that the high taxes and fees are due to health insurance coverage, etc if anything happens to you in the country. Can anyone verify that?

I started off this ticket search with a local agent. I booked with a travel agent because I wanted to keep the busness local. The cheapest airfare was with cheaptickets.com. But it seems they bait and switch. last night I was once again playing with the flight search and noticed the difference between days. So I kept playing with it until I got the best fare. It was 963 dollars round trip to Odessa on the cheapest days. Then I called the agent back and she returned my call this afternoon with 100 dollars higher. I decided to go with cheaptickets.com but when I went to order the ticket I got that it was no longer available. It suggested another flight at 1,173 dollars. So I went back and started over and it gave me 1,483 dollars. It sounded like a scam so I ate another 100 dollars and booked with the agent. It is the exact same flights I was going to take on cheaptickets.com.

So much for online airline tickets.

Good Luck on your trip. You must be a fellow Iowan? I'd advise you to be careful of LOT. They aren't the most organized of airlines... schedules are only a suggestion to them. Good food though. Best wishes for a great trip.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAnyone going to Moscow this week?
I am leaving for Moscow 7:00 am CST on Tuesday July 20th. If you can get another set of documents sent to Ames, Iowa for Monday delivery, I can take them as long as your fiancee or someone else can meet me at the airport to get the documents. My flight is Air Singapore flight SQ61 from Houston to Domodedovo airport in Moscow. It is scheduled to arrive 14:00 on July 21st. Respond this afternoon please if you are interested and we'll trade contact info. I'll need a Moscow cell phone number for the pick up person too. The Rule is NEVER USE FEDEX TO GET STUFF RUSSIA FAST. For some reason, their stuff is always held up in the airport. DHL or UPS is the way to go.

DEFINITELY use the EXACT English spelling as shown on her Russian passport! All paperwork must match. I am surprised the Go To Russia people didn't know. Maybe you got a new person? They are usually very good. Good Luck to both of you. I flew United to Moscow through Washington once and thought it was a pretty good airport and not too big.

After a terrible experience with FedEx slowness, we always used UPS. They did fine and definitely more affordable than DHL. Deliveries still took up to a week with Customs in Moscow being the biggest hang up.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusAmerican boy loves Ukrainian girl..looking for advice
I definitely agree with Tygrys. If you can take that plunge... K-1 is the way to go. You just have to pay the fees, file all the ridiculous paperwork and wait out the process. The financial threshhold is very low so I wouldn't worry about that as long as you are employed. My other advice would be to make sure the paperwork gives the story that you want to give... if you've changed jobs or lost jobs... explain why and be thorough. We got complimented on our paperwork's completeness and accuracy but most of our volumes of proof was never even looked at!

USCIS Service CentersCSC NOA1s by month

I found a flaw in my analysis. I double counted some VSC people into CSC for Aug. and Sept. Aug. approvals should be 8, not 17, and waiitng should be 78, ot 84. There are no Sept. NOA1s approved yet in CSC. I'll fix it in next week's graph. Sorry.

USCIS Service CentersUSCIS still thinks it's INS?

That department still handles Immigration and Naturalization. And if the letter head still says INS, is no problem, at least they did not waste several tons of older letter head, and rush and order new letter head just because of an name change.

The letterhead says USCIS. It's the printed letter that says INS. I think they just didn't bother to change the .txt file. :)

On my NOA2 hard copy, USCIS refers to itself as INS. What's up with that?

The letterhead and the return address say USCIS, it's just the text of the notice that says INS. Weirdos.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)went for interview at sydney consulate
Sorry. What specifically was it denied for?

Went for interview today,

My visa application was denied due to CIMT. I filed my waiver on the same day and it has been sent to bangkok district office.
I telephoned the bangkok district office and they told me that it will be processed within 90 days, which is good. I hope I get the waiver as my USC fiance and Daughter are going back to the US to wait for me.

Any way thats my story.

If anyone has questions about the sydney consulate and denials of visa from there I can gladly answer your questions as I am going through the process as we speek.

United KingdomName change and UK passport

My fiance will arrive on a K1 sometime next year and he wants to change his name when we get married. Will he need to get a new or updated UK passport for travel between the US and UK after that, or will it be enough for him to present his old passport and our marriage certificate showing the legal change of name? When should we get a new UK passport for him? As his K1 will be in his passport, I don't want him to surrender it for replacement while we still need that visa.

For his adjustment of status, I assume his old passport and paperwork along with the marriage certificate showing name change will be sufficient to establish that he is the same person with a new name.

It is really painless to have the UK Passport changed. You send the original marriage cert and the passport to the UK Embassy in DC and a week later you have it back. with the old passport and original Marriage Cert. Annie was really worried, I would do it as soon as possible, we made color copies of everything. Annie carries a copy of her passport and a copy of the visa. Till she changed her passport she also carried a copy of the mariage cert.

So did she get a new passport or did they just add the new name to the old passport? If she got a new passport but also got the old one back, was the old one marked invalid? I see you can get some kinda "also known as" notation. I suppose that will be ideal while the US paperwork is still in processing. It's kinda scary to send his passport away, but I suppose it probably would be safe.

I can't answer that but I'm sure some of legal name change paperwork will be required, NOT only a marriage certificate. When a woman changes her name, she has to show her marriage certificate & get a new SSN, etc. I'm sure it's different for a man, as it is not the same as a woman's married name change.

Actually, it is the same. We'll be married in Iowa and both the man and the woman are allowed to legally change their name at the marriage ceremony. There's a place on the marriage license application for just this, one for the bride and one for the groom.
