National Visa Center (Dept of State)It's been 4 weeks

Our petition seemed to take forever to get to NVC - phoned this evening and they said they had received it last Wednesday.

That's about 5 and a half weeks between NOA2 and NVC receiving it. Ours was also through the California Service Centre so perhaps they're just being a bit slow at the mo with sending stuff out?

I hope they get yours soon, the stress of waiting was driving me mad!

THANKS EVERYONE!!!! I JUST CALLED NVC.... WE HAVE OUR CASE # AND THE EMBASSY HAS IT!!!!!

We got a text message and email on March5th, and the NOA2 letter March 13th stating our approved petition was being sent to the NVC. Why havent we had/heard anything since?

I've called a few times today and get a busy signal @ the NVC

because that our american spouses/bf/gf/fiance/so post here too. So not everybody here speaks dutch.

ok dan...
soooooooo, what's new?
Where are the Dutch people from that are on this site? Just curious.
I was born in Zevenaar (near Arnhem)...

Born in Leiden, lived in Hoofddorp pretty much all my life until I moved to the US.

It seems like the US embassy in the Netherlands is one of the 'easiest' embassies when it comes to interviews (yes, I've read some of the embassy-reviews). All the better I'd say!

I think it is indeed one of the easiest consulates to go through. I didn't get any questions at all, I got more questions from a talkative securityguard than from the interviewer lol.

Congrats on all the newly approved, I'm free of paperwork for another year when I start the lifting of conditions/citizenship process.

hallo allemaal

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhere do I go for my interview?

To quote Zyggy, from another thread:

If you live in Manitoba and are doing a K visa, your interview will be in Vancouver.

oh, wow.
for real?
thank you so much.
that makes me feel a lot better.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhere do I go for my interview?

I believe it would be Montreal. I know when my fiance lived in Winnipeg we were planning that he would have to go to Montreal. He has since moved to Kelowna, BC so he will now be going to Vancouver.

GRRRR!!!!
Montreal?
I was hoping that that wouldn't be the case...I heard that interviews in Montreal are really behind schedule.
I really hate this entire process...I am getting really frustrated.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhere do I go for my interview?
Hello everyone.
My husband is a US citizen and I am Canadian citizen who lives in Winnipeg, MB.
We have applied for a K-3 Visa and received our receipt for the 129-F on May 2nd.
I am just curious as to where I will need to go for our interview.
We put Vancouver on the 129-F petition but does this mean that I will actually go there or to Montreal?
Thanks.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 -- "A" number??

hello,
yesterday, my husband got the NOA1 letter...
we're now at the last stages of I-129F package preparation
we have a question concerning the "A" number ??
is the number assigned at the NOA1 letter an "alien number" (for the spouse)??
can we use it for the question 9 (part B of the I-129F)?? or put N/A??
thank you in advance

i think we put N/A for that.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhats a girl gotta do to get Touched?

hmmmmm is your NOA for the I-129f? your timeline isnt updated so there isnt much info for us to look at, however being touched doesnt always mean something "special" it just means someone is looking at it, I may not be touched again for a long while, and you on the other hand could be "touched" several times. Either way, good luck!!!!

yes, the NOA is for the I-129f.
we go the NOA receipt for the I-130 way back in april.
i sure hope this goes quickly, i hate being away from my husband.

I checked my case online AGAIN  , I finally got touched....YEAHHHHHHHHHH I'm doing the happy dance now!

i am gonna sound like a huge dolt, but the NOA1 is the notice of action I-797 reciept, correct?
if so, i have the same receipt date as you do - may 2nd, 2006.
i registered our case online today and it doesn't say anything about being touched yet.
:(
all it says is that the processing time for my type of case is 60-90 days.
le sigh.
i guess we just gotta sit back and wait.
good luck to you.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresgetting a criminal record check
hi everyone.
i have applied for a k-3 visa and my husband just received the NOA for the I-129f with a receipt date of may 2, 2006.
i heard that getting a criminal record check may take some time.
is it okay for me to go ahead and get one now?
or do i have to wait until i get my packet telling me to do so?
what else can i be doing right now to prepare for packet 3?
i want to get a lot done right now so i am not hurrying to get the packet out.
thanks.

Do you have I-797?

not sure if this was directed at me, but yes.
i do.

As long as you show intent to return, you should be fine. Keep your I-797 and like a lease or letter from your job with you....

thanks for the reply.
kinda crappy as i no longer have a job or a lease.
i am currently staying with family.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresthe 60-90 day processing timeline

Shanny,

The processing time estimates are pure fantasy.

A better, though not great, way to estimate time to approval is to compare your Receipt Date to the current processing date and add 30 days. Recognize, however, that the movement of processing dates can and does vary over time.

Yodrak

has anyone here ever been approved before the 60-90 days?
or does that just not happen?
it really sucks that things are taking this long...i swear to god i am in denial.

thanks yodrak.

Vancover is much better than Montreal... but once you are approved doesnt it have to be then fowarded to NVC for processing..

Sorry but I agree... It is not likely by August especially if you are having your interview in Montreal consulate.. from what I understand they are backed up 2 to 4 months. BUT you never know.
Patience and good luck

hard to tell... depends on how quickly you get necessary documents completed and back to the... most of their comments after receiving anything is "allow 4 to 8 weeks to review"

yikes.
that is a looooong time.
my husband and i had no idea that things would take this long.
i am not a patient person...man i hope this goes quickly.

Are you talking about your NOA1 or NOA2? If you're talking about your NOA2, don't you have to have an interview by the last valid date on it? I don't know, but it would seem like it. Like our K3 NOA2 is only valid until the beginning of september. So we have to have our interview before that, right? So if you already have your NOA2, then I think the interview has to happen while the NOA2 is still valid. ttyl,

mich

sorry for the confusion, i was talking about the NOA1.

Well, my notice that I received by mail said, "it is taking between 60 and 180 days for them to process this kind of case." But my online profile at the USCIS website says, "It is taking between 60 and 90 days for them to process this kind of case." Tomorrow, May 22 will be 59 days since the NOA-1. I do hope that I get the approval very soon, by next two weeks, but who knows?

yup, the notice my husband received in the mail also said 60-180 days and then online it said 60-90 days.
i like the online processing dates better.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGiving Up???

Shanny, do your timeline. It helps calculate the statistics so people here have a better idea of what to expect.

If I'm in Toronto or Montreal the same time as you, I'll buy you a Blue, or a donut at Tims, or even a quarter chicken at Swiss Chalet, whatever you like, eh? But I'm not getting my knickers in a twist about when the interview will happen. That's out of my control. All I can do is be well prepared. Then, spend my energy on things that will make our life together a good thing.

Yes, waiting sucks, if you look at it as waiting. For me, it's part of a process I signed up for, knowing beforehand it would take some time but be worth it in the end. Instead of whining and wringing my hands because my husband isn't here, I do constructive things, such as drinking more beer, letting the dishes pile even higher in the sink, wearing the same socks two days in a row, eating Rice Krispie squares for dinner, over tweezing my eyebrows. I'm okay. Really. ;)

:)
this post made me chuckle.
and i really needed that...so thanks.

i am gonna do my timeline right now.
oh, and i meant to say that i had the same i-129f noa1 date as you.
hopefully we both get approved soon.
take care.

ShannyFemaleCanada2006-05-21 22:29:00
K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresshould i stay or should i go?

Canadians can stay in the US for up to 6 months per year/per visit, even if you have a visa petition in with your name on it, or a visa application in.

If you're travelling together they may make it a bit difficult for you to cross, so make sure you have lots of evidence with you that you will most definitely be returning to Canada when you say you will. This of course is not definite, even with proof of ties, you can still be denied entry. But a denial will not negatively affect your visa application.

hi, thanks for the reply.
i am SO worried about this all.
especially because we are travelling together.
i called the border that we are crossing last week and the woman told me that they generally do not have a problem with it, as long as i am not going there to live.
so i guess i just have to prove that to them.
we are bringing our I-130 & I-129 receipts, my rental agreement, marriage certificate and my bank statements.
i do not have a job at the time, but i am helping my sis-in-law with her business.
we will see what happens, i want to visit my husband SO badly.
i will post back in this thread next week to tell you how it all went.
wish me luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresshould i stay or should i go?
i just want some advice.
i live only an 8 hour drive from my husband who is a US citizen.
he is coming to visit me in 2 weeks and then he wants me to come back to the USA with him and stay for 3 weeks.
(he will drive me back the 4th of july long weekend)
and then i am planning to go visit him again at the end of july for 2 or 3 weeks.
is this okay?
is there a certain amount of time that i have to stay in canada until i go visit him again?
or will 2 weeks be long enough?
how long can i visit there, anyways?
3 weeks, correct?

yup, they do.
i am gonna try crossing the border (from canada) this sunday...i am crossing my fingers that i get through!

Good Luck.......................when i visited while going through the process i took my NOA1 with me, which i'm glad about as the officer asked me how our marriage worked with me in the UK & Hubby in the US, & did we have plans........i said uh huh we are currently going through the immigration process, he asked did i have any paper work for this to show him, and i did :D ...................but i also took other ties back to UK to show i would be returning

so you made it through alright?
did he ask to see the other ties back to the UK?
