United KingdomCurrent UK interview waiting times?
QUOTE (Poiteen @ Nov 16 2007, 12:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The wait time that's posted on the Embassy website is not for interviews, but how long it's taking them to process DCF I-130's. blush.gif

There's no info on the embassy website about how long it takes to schedule interviews. But that's what VJ was invented for!!! tongue.gif Going by recent interviewee' sigs on the interview thread

freecake:
16th July Case sent to London Embassy
31th July Received Pack 3 from London Embassy
1st August Sent pack 3 form
10th August had medical in London
16th August received police report
18th October Received packet 4
2nd November Approved at Interview
6th November VISA and MBE received

So going by those, it'll be roughly 3.5 months from NVC sending the file to the interview (3 months from emabssy receipt -> interview), and that's as long as we're able to send back packet 3 promptly to say we have everything ready.

This will take a while wacko.gif So, if by a miracle, NVC send on my file either today or early next week, the embassy should get the file at the end of the month and a rough interview guess is still end of February earliest.

I have a ticket booked for 20th February (long story short, I had to book a return flight from the US to get home on my last visit and chose that date at random as a "possibility"). So we'll see if the flying date might make a difference. Worst case scenario, my interview is after that date and I have to book another flight instead.

QUOTE (RosemarieL @ Nov 15 2007, 03:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think it is normally a couple of months but if you have wedding plans they will do their best to accommodate them. I had a problem with my lease expiry date and they managed to give me an interview date within a month of my sending them Packet 3 (see my signature). I phoned the Department of State about 8 days after I couriered the P3 to the embassy and they were able to let me know the interview date. I booked the medical as soon as I had the case number from NVC.

I saw a post recently, can't remember exactly where, that seemed to show the time as being 2.5 months. I have looked on the embassy site and can't find anything at all other than the "5 days to receive visa" statement. Does anyone have a direct link to the wait time?

Was wondering what the questions they ask at the London Embassy. I know there different from person to person, but i'm just trying to get a feel of what to expect when the time comes for my appointment. I know i'm a long way of yet but ive heard a few horror stories as some get grilled. Dont know if theres any truth in that.

Thanks

I came across this link before and it seemed very helpful...

The fraud link at the bottom really is an eye-opener (the type of questions you could be asked, should they suspect fraud).

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it would be my turn to do the chasing now that it was at the embassy but I'll ask Josh to contact the DoS first and see what they have to say. I have looked through the embassy site and have found their address, the expensive visa line number and other contact details but I can't seem to find an email address. I've also searched the UK forum for "embassy email address" and couldn't seem to come up with anything.

Does anyone have the email address? I would like to start the ball rolling in a couple of days to see if they've received my file (NVC forwarded it on the 15th).

Sorry, saw this post and had to rant mad.gif blush.gif

I have had the pleasure of being in the CSC blackhole from the beginning of their troubles sad.gif 193 days from the priority date of my I130 and no touches other than to (finally) send my I130 NOA1 (4 months after they received the petition) and change the address because of a mistake they made (2 months after we asked for the address to be changed). Strangely, they made both of these changes on the same day, so they must have been sitting around twiddling their thumbs so they could do them together mad.gif

Josh phoned them on Friday to try to find out more information, he was told that because it had been touched within (and I mean JUST within) 2 months that it was being "actively processed" and that we shouldn't phone again for another 30 days sad.gif I don't want to see 210 days appear on my signature sad.gif And if they'd bothered to send the copy receipt and address change when they should have, that touch wouldn't exist.

And I am so frustrated right now, we're seeing people who filed after us get approvals and, while I'm really happy for them, I am becoming bitter that ours is still sitting there untouched sad.gif

Thanks for letting me rant, I feel slightly better now yes.gif

You don't actually need all of them, even if they are listed on the site. That is all possible injections that may be applicable to you, totally dependant on your age.

This is the official link on the embassy's website: http://london.usemba...ccinechart.html

For example, influenza is clearly shown as only needed if over 50 years of age.

Your profile shows you as 38, so (according to the chart above) you don't need: DTP, Hib, hepatitis B, pneumococcal or influenza.

You do need: TD, MMR & (proof of having) chickenpox

Thanks for all the responses smile.gif I think I will be sending off the forms in the next couple of days. United KingdomRecevied packet 3
wacko.gif As the subject says, I have now received packet 3. My problem is that even though I have my birth certificate, police certificate, passport and proof of our relationship, I have yet to receive the I-134 from Josh or my mother in law. They sent off for the transcripts around the 13th November and, as of Saturday, have not received anything back from the tax people. Once they receive them, they need to get their I-134s notarised and will then send them off to me.

Now to my problem... do I wait to receive that paperwork from them (which could potentially be an extra few weeks) or do I send back my form to say I already have it all? Obviously any extra delay now will be an extra delay to my eventual interview. I have seen 2-3 month turnaround times from the embassy receiving the checklist back to the interview and I know it won't take that amount of time to get the forms we require.

So... has any one else "chanced it" or, like I feel, is this too important to risk?

Also, as I'm female and have only ever had a British passport, am I correctly thinking I do not have to fill out a DS-157?

So many questions wacko.gif

Ok
I think we need to agree to differ on this one. I agree with 93% of the population who have polled the BBC in that this is ridiculous censoring over a word that most people dont even think about until it is drawn to their attention in situations like this.
You obviously agree with the other 7% in that the BBC are right to do what they do.
But overall I think this only brings the song to public attention thus increasing sales.
I can only liken this to groups like 'Frankie goes to Hollywood' with "Relax" in the 80's that was banned by the BBC but still reached No 1 in the charts.

I agree with the words in bold, never once have I even thought of the lyrics of this song in any depth. Now I really hope this stupid highlighting of this particular word doesn't ruin the whole point of the song and make people actually focus on that word instead of the song in total.

This isn't quite on the same level as telling Santa's they can't say HO HO HO because of it's current derogatory meaning, but people need to lighten up.

I'm in the same boat as you at the moment sad.gif London received all of the relevant paperwork and checklist on the 10th December. DOS confirmed this to Josh when he phoned to check. To be safe, I would get prepared in advance and ask your doctor (best if it's the doctor you saw at the time)for a letter about the period of depression, how it was handled, and saying that you're fine now. If they have reason to think you may harm yourself or others, they will ask for medical back up, and if you can't provide it (either at the time or by mailing it in later), they may not approve the medical.

EDIT - I don't mean to sound all gloom and doom! Just want everything to go smoothly for everyone. smile.gif

Not doom and gloom at all, MargotDarko. It doesn't hurt to be prepared smile.gif

I actually took a letter with me from my GP stating exactly what you have mentioned above (no harm to myself or others, mild depression, the medication taken and length of time suffering from it, also that there have been no reoccurring symptoms since). The doctor at the medical read the letter, seemed happy with the comments and didn't ask me anything at all about it.

United KingdomMedical 4th January
Well, yesterday was my medical examination. I left home at 7:30am and caught the 8:30 train to Ealing Broadway. I didn't want to take a later train because of the snow warnings we'd had the day before. Just as we were pulling into the station, the Central Line train was getting ready to depart, so a very quick walk to the other platform and I just managed to catch it *phew* We got to the next station on the CL and were held there by a red light... boy, was I fretting about it being a big problem and missing my appointment wacko.gif (turned out someone had taken ill at Bond Street station).

Got to Bond street around 9am and apparently took the wrong exit out of the station because the map I printed out wasn't much help at all. So jumped into a cab and asked the driver to take me to Bentinck Street. Cost me £3 but gave him £4 because I was just happy to be there! I was standing outside the Mansions at 9:20 and had a long time to go until my 10:30am appointment, so I stood around for about 10 minutes before pressing their buzzer. For some reason the damned thing wouldn't work for me so the receptionist actually had to come to the door blush.gif

As soon as I went in to the waiting room, another receptionist/secretary (South African lady) asked for all my paperwork and told me to sit down and wait. There was a couple who must have been in their 50s and also a man originally from South Africa (he was talking about that with the secretary). 10 minutes went by and she gave me another questionnaire to complete. One thing which I believe was different, is that the question on mental health asks for any MAJOR occurrences, where as the one from the embassy just asks a general question. So I put yes on the one from the embassy and no to the one at the doctors (I suffered from mild depression in 2006). This was the question which really had me worried.

Handed back the questionnaire to the receptionist and waited again. Another 10 minutes passed and a nurse came to take me into another room, she looked over my vaccination records and told me that I was one short on MMR so I need to get that done by my GP. She must have thought I was stupid because several times she repeated the same thing to me "you do not have to contact us once you have the required vaccination". Probably because I had told her previously that a K3 was a non-immigrant visa and she was having none of that either blink.gif She was adamant that a K3 was an immigrant visa but... oh well, I just let that one slide (wish I had had my P3 letter with me to prove it devil.gif ).

Then I was shown into a second waiting room and was there only a few minutes before I was seen by a male doctor. I was quite expecting the South African lady that many people have spoken about previously. He was very pleasant and the only thing I had to take off was my shoes! He did the normal things: blood pressure, taking blood, pulse, lungs, hernias, checking for breast lumps etc. He had a very nice conversation with me about my past medical history and didn't say much at all about my weight (which I was also worried about). He said all was fine, pending the results of my blood test and then asked me to wait in the second waiting room again. Another 5-10 minutes and a rather chatty man took me to have my chest x-ray done. That was pretty straight forward as well.

All of that took me to 10:45, so I'm very glad I went there early, and I even managed to find my way back to the station following the directions on my map wink.gif

Not only was the medical a breeze to get through, but when I got home I had a letter from the Iowa congressman to say that London had scheduled me for an interview on the 1st February. I'm really hoping that I don't hear back from Knightsbridge doctors (if I don't hear back from them within a week, all is well) and then I just have wait for the interview date to arrive biggrin.gif

United KingdomLondon Medical question
Don't know if anyone has already posted this, but these are the address details:-

Telephone number: 0207 584 9458

15 Basil Mansions, Basil Street, London, SW3 1AP (this one was not open when I booked my appointment, so Bentinck was the only option for me) - closest tube = Knightsbridge

4 Bentinck Mansions, 12-16 Bentinck Street, London, W1U 2ER - closest tube = Bond Street

You need to take: passport, 1 passport photo (can be UK size), the questionnaire from P3 (they provide you with another questionnaire anyway), vaccination records and letter from GP if you require one to explain any "yes's" on the questionnaire.

I would see nothing wrong with phoning them up to confirm which of the 2 locations you were scheduled at. Bare in mind also, that I booked my medical for 1 month after I received packet 3 and have just had it done recently, and I still have 1 month to go for my actual interview date. Booking a medical earlier does not help in the long run, especially when they are taking 2 month from receiving packet 3 back at the embassy to the interview date.

United KingdomSo glad I found this forum...
The people that are going to their interview now are those who missed majority of the fee rush (we only had delays while they stopped approving our petitions so that they could enter all the new ones into their system).

I am not even sure how to gauge those currently waiting, I know there are still people from August/September who have not even received their NOA1 or had their cheques cashed, and only time will tell how long it will take them to receive their NOA2. Once those in August/September start to see their approvals I think it will give a better guide to those who are following on from them.

The positive thing is that they are hiring and training more staff, so things should continue to speed up smile.gif

If you go into this journey with a realistic journey time in mind, it makes it a lot easier to bare.

When I first joined this forum, I thought the journey could be over and done with in 6 months (which for those who filed a month or so before me, it was) so when things started dragging, I was feeling very down. It was a helpful member that gave me a better idea of how long the journey would actually take and once I set my sights on a February approval (I applied in April for my I130 and May for the I129F) then the journey became much much easier.

At least for me, this journey has had a lot of unexpected delays and looking at the big picture (February), instead of each and every delay, really helped get me through it.

And as long as I get my approval on the 1st Feb, then that person was wonderfully correct smile.gif

I have the same problem too...my fiance had his medical exam and sent his packet 3 which the embassy in London received December 2nd, but we still havent heard anything back about his interview....WHY!?! Im getting frustrated because it seems like people are getting their interviews right away!!!

Bare in mind that some of the people who returned their packets at the same time you did, may have specified a date they were due to fly. The embassy will try to accomodate travel plans but they do not guarantee they are able to do so in all cases. This may get cases earlier interview dates than they would otherwise have received and cause it to seem like people have interviews "right away"

My P3 documents were received by them on the 10th December, with a flying date of 20th February specified. I was eligible for an interview from the 12th Dec but it took them until the 4th Jan to have an interview date (1st February) assigned to my case. Potentially coincidence... but as long as I'm approved that day, I will definitely be making my flight.

I have always had that problem when visiting Josh. When we say a word ending in 'a' (eg America) which is followed by a word starting with a vowel (eg 'is'), we tend to stick an 'r' in the middle (America ris). My husband and my stepson take the p**s out of me all the time and try to get me to say it. You watch out for it, it will drive you nuts once you are aware!

I was beginning to think it was just me, but I hear it all the time on Public Radio, the BBC and British films. Phew!

I've just realised I do that whistling.gif

United KingdomWhat a great way to wake up...
Thanks again for all the lovely congratulations smile.gif It will be so nice to put this first step behind us. Unfortunately we won't be able to put the CSC behind us for another month or so due to the very long time it is taking for NVC to receive and process the file.

We are on the way though good.gif

Good luck to anyone else still awaiting their approval smile.gif

Wow, after such a long time!! you must be so relieved. Contratulations!!! kicking.gif

Unfortunately, that is pretty much standard CSC processing times at the moment. I'm just glad we've got the approval and in a few more weeks can leave the CSC behind in our dust >.>

Now we're hearing that the NVC is facing a backlog. Oh, the joys of the visa process whistling.gif I really do envy anyone who was able to direct file. I'd love to be in their shoes... this whole process is looking to be about 10 months long for me sad.gif
