Where can I find a detailed list like what you found on packet 3? ....I wanna be prepared. I had no idea packet 3 asks for more information about income when that is what the I-134 is supposed to do just that...I am learning more each day and I am glad you told me or I would be clueless until I actually had packet 3. Now, is packet 3 for the K-1 visa? Thanks again.

Hi, Erika.
After sending your K1 petition, you receive NOA1 that lets you know they have accepted your payment. Next, you receive NOA2 meaning that USCIS has approved your petition and forwarded it to NVC who, in turn, forwards your file to the embassy in Ankara. They do a little processing magic at the embassy and then send your fiancee what is referred to as packet 3. However, once you receive your NOA2, you and your fiancee can begin filling out the forms and collecting the appropriate documents before he will even receive the packet 3 in the mail. You can get those from the embassy website along with the instructions:
http://turkey.usemba...visa_forms.html

The US embassy in Ankara does things a little different from many other countries in that you submit everything to them by courier along with packet 3. This will include your tax ####### and your fiance's birth certificate and translations and all of that. Reading the K1 instructions from that link above will probably answer most of your questions. Don't worry... it's pretty easy.

Erika, number 7 under "required documents" on the packet 3 instructions states that the most recent year's tax forms are required to be sent in with packet 3. You'll have to send them your transcripts for 2007 at the very least.

I guess I shouldn't have spoken so soon - Onur got an email from the embassy with his interview date: July 29th, 2008. We were hoping for a bit earlier AND our NOA2 expires on July 12th. The embassy website states:

"Important note: Many immigrant visa files include documents with validity expiration dates, and most types of administrative processes expire within three months. Please make sure that the administrative process for the applicants will be valid on the new interview date before rescheduling. Also make sure to bring new copies of expired documents to the interview."

Do you think we can request an earlier interview date? Hmmm...

I asked for one and they gave it to us. It can't hurt to try.

We're planning a trip to Turkey in late summer and are curious what current ticket prices are with the inflation and all. I've done a little searching online and have come up with $1000+/pp RT! Ouch!

Anyone finding lower fares/specials?

Thanks!

Good luck finding good deals on tickets. I got 3 tickets for May and it was close to 7k. The number of flights are decreasing and cost of travel is increasing so if you find a good deal you might not want to wait too long. Seems the days of < $900 flights are in the past now.

Selam!

I have more questions for all of your experienced Ankara embassy people smile.gif

I am a bit confused as to what Onur should submit with packet 3 and what he should bring to the interview.

1. It looks as if he must submit form I-134 (Affidavit of Support) with Packet 3, but should he also submit my and my co-sponsor's supporting evidence, including copies of tax returns, bank statements, etc? I've read posts where it seems as if people at other embassies bring this information to the interview.

2. Should he submit our original birth certificates with Packet 3, or bring them to the interview?

3. Evidence of relationship. Packet 3 or interview?

Cok tesekkur ederim, as always, for your help!

~ Julia

My fiancee has our evidence as well as my birth certificate in her posession and is going to take them with her to the interview. She did submit her own birth certificate and translation, however. I guess it was ok that we didn't send them in, because she was given an interview date instead of getting packet 3 returned to her. We sent them the original I-134 and all of the associated documents with it as well.

I wish I could go to the interview too, but it's just not possible for me to miss more work and still come there afterwards to go to our wedding party and be with Handan for the long ride back to the US. Since you've been there so recently, evidence shouldn't be much of a problem for you I wouldn't think. I'm sure the interview will go well for your fiance whether you attend or not. Ticket prices are getting pretty high sad.gif

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying the beginning of spring (atleast it's the beginning of spring here in Ohio...after a long and cold winter!)

I returned from Turkey this past week where I had an amazing time, only wish I could have stayed longer! Everyone said my Turkish is getting better - I really hope to be fluent...someday! I'll post some new pictures soon smile.gif

I received a letter from NVC a few days ago stating that our file has been forwarded to Ankara - hooray! Onur has been working on preparing the documents he needs for packet 3. Does anyone know - is the affadavit of support sent in with Packet 3 or only brought to the interview?

Anyway, just wanted to drop in and say hello!

Gorusuruz!

Julia

You'll definitely want to send the notarized Affadavit of Support in with packet 3, Julia.

Thanks a lot for that link. My phone bills have been killing me and this is easier to use than most phone cards I've used because you don't have to use a PIN number to dial. Calling to Antalya is more than 2.9 cents, but it's less than half what I've been paying previously and with Helio I get free international texting.

Maybe you can get it by writing to them:

Turkish occupied area – apply to:

Turkish Cypriot Police Headquarters
Lefkosa
Mersin 10
Turkey

You should provide:

1. details of your identity card
2. card number
3. place of issue.

Congratulations!
Have you already found this link? It's the online version of packet 3: http://turkey.usemba...visa_forms.html
I emailed the embassy to find out which address they were going to ship packet 3 to and they suggested we just get the stuff from there since you have to submit all documentation and proof before getting an interview date. I suppose in theory it gets you a quicker interview date if you're already prepared to submit your file.

PhilippinesFast Way to Send money to Fiance in Philippines?
The cheapest and easiest way I have found to send money is through Moneygram, though I have never had a reason to send money to Philippines. Sign up for their rewards card and their already low fee gets lower the more times you use their service. I regularly send 300-600 dollars at a time and pay $8-something for each transfer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about Fiance Lawyers
It seems only cases that are very complicated need a lawyer usually. Going from what I see other people post, some lawyers actually complicate the process. If you have a straightforward case, you're probably better off doing it yourself. Just spend the time reading the guides here and there should be no problems. When we first considered filing for K1, I was thinking about getting a lawyer. We're both so glad that we did it on our own. It was easy and saved us a buttload of money.
