K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2009 Filers
QUOTE (Sam and Ben @ May 18 2009, 04:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm finding that little EAC number to be both a blessing and a curse, as I'm sure you'd all agree...

I hate checking the website and finding that it hasn't been touched for a month. But on the other hand, if I wasn't able to check it, I'd be going out of my skull.

Hi Sam and Ben,

Has immigration given you any trouble when you tried to enter the US to visit while the K1 was in process? I was wondering if it would suffice to just have the itinerary showing the return date and or an employment letter. I'm a little worried because we've planned a trip to Oregon before sending off the K1 application. Is it safe to say that we are vacationing there for 5 days? Thanks for your help!

Just a note: Apparently automated systems are not for K1's. I'm not sure why, but that's what I found out in another thread. You will have to speak to a live operator.

I'd also like to think that they are still approving applications, just aren't the ones who are currently on VJ or even the ones who rarely go on VJ and don't or haven't updated their timelines.

Hello June filers!

Hope you guys don't mind me barging in. It seems that this group is more talkative, so I thought I'd say hi. If this pace keeps up, you might get your NOA2's in October.

Anyway, good luck to you all and have a great weekend!

We just had our check cashed today!! biggrin.gif We were beginning to worry lol.. But there's something I don't understand.. In all your timelines (the couples who got their check cashed and got their noa1), you got NOA1 before the check was cashed... We haven't got our NOA1 yet.. Is that normal? blink.gif

Chris_Janna and Loveaboo welcome to June filers! smile.gif

Most of us got our NOA1 date from the internet. Just get the EAC number off the back of the check and check your case status from here:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

You will have to create an account but you will be able to see the date the NOA1 was issued.

Hope this helps.

I got my hardcopy of my NOA1 a couple of days after the check was cashed.

Well we knew it was cashed when John called the bank today and they told him it was cashed.. How do we have the EAC number? blush.gif

You will have to ask for an electronic copy of the cashed check, which shows the front and back). At the back, there will be ten alphanumerical symbols beginning with EAC or WAC, etc. Hope that helps!

Btw, I'm a May filer, but wanted to wish you all good luck on your journey! smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNon-legal wedding ceremony before getting a visa???
QUOTE (Tina&Roland @ Jun 1 2009, 12:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (Greylove @ Jun 1 2009, 11:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance who lives in Washington and I were planning on having a wedding ceremony and reception in the US before obtaining our visa. This would NOT be a legal wedding, just a Christian Ceremony because we are expecting to get our Visa in the fall (crosses fingers) and we didn't want to have a winter wedding. Is this a really bad idea. We have already started planning the event, though we haven't really spent any money, I am down visiting this week and have plans to meet with the caterer and Florist and give deposits.

I was not concerned as long as it was not legal, however, I tried to bring a mattress across the boarder from Canada for my Fiance since he needed one and I wasn't using it and they were really on my case saying I was jumping to gun and that I was a potential immigrant and it looks bad if I start to look like I am EXPECTING to get into the country (even though I AM!!) and start bringing my things over. I mean, we have an open and close case in my opinion. We have no kids or past issues with traveling to and from the states, we have no records or anything. I am just concerned that someone coming over from Canada might mention that they are coming to our wedding and then they will assume we are legally married or something and it will void our Visa.

Can anyone recommend a way of doing this that won't risk the visa (has anyone attempted something like this??) Also, we would like to talk to a lawyer just to make sure that we are not doing this outside of the law, can anyone recommend a GOOD lawyer just for legal advice??

Please help, we really wanted to make this wedding thing work rather than just a last minute ceremony which no one from home will be able to make it to!!

Thanks so much!

Hi,

Just letting you know that we tried this route about 2 months ago. Our ceremony was originally planned for August 2009 at my church in Toronto. We'd booked the church, notified relatives, and I bought the dress. Everything was fine and dandy...that is until our pastor told us that he couldn't do it if it wasn't legal. Apparently if you really want a Christian wedding, it has to be legal. Either you married first and then had the ceremony later but not the other way around. Anyway, this is just my two cents.

Hope all goes well!

Tina

Oh, just to add to that, I was very disappointed to hear the news.

Now, we're hoping that our visa would be approved by October and we'll have a December wedding. The August date is reserved for a Jack and Jill co-ed shower.

Can my fiance get her medical done? Can she actually schedule an interview or do we have to wait for the packet 3? How much longer does it usually take to get the packet 3 after the noa2 approval? Please let me know

Hey Jasmin&Travis,

Please use this email VSC.Ncscfollowup@dhs.gov and here is a copy of the email I sent:

"Department of Homeland Security
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
Vermont Service Center
Attn: I-129F,

Case Information:

Case Number: EACXXXXXXXXXX
Notice Date: 05/06/2009
USC:
Fiancée:

First of all, I hope you are doing great. My name . I submitted an application for my fiancée, , which was processed on the date shown above. Since, early June, I called the USCIS customer service helpline in order to enquire about a reason why the case I filled was not on the public website. I was told on that occasion that the issue would be resolved in a couple of weeks, due to the fact that the USCIS officer sent a request to the “Help desk” for my case to be added. After not having the issue resolved, I called in July and August with the same result. As of today, September 9th, 2009, the case I filled is still not available on the website. Following USCIS procedure, I have written this email, per suggestion from the customer service representative on my latest call to USCIS helpline in early September. I would like to respectfully ask if there is any particular issue with my case being that the approximate estimated processing time for these type of applications is five (5) months, and my case is very close to that amount of days, and I still do not have access to my case on the website or any other information about the status of my case. Thanking you in advance for your time and assistance.

Regards,"

I hope this helps, it did for me... at least to get it on the website, something I had been trying forever!!! good luck!

Wow, eltemp, your e-mail was definitely longer than the one we sent about our change of address. Glad that you can finally see your case online now. Hope they are working on your case now! Good luck to everyone else, too!

our case seemed stalled at NVC. It went so fast from NOA1 to NOA2, now it's just sitting at NVC and they won't tell us anything. There's no toll-free number to call NVC and no place to check status online after it goes to NVC, like there was at USCIS. When I call they just said it's "being held for further processing", but nothing else. Anyone have similar problem?

I think your case is at what they call "AP" (additional processing). I don't know how they judge which ones go through AP. It apparently can take from 3 days to 35 days...I just hope that mine takes 3 days........I'll have to check Monday.

2big, the number for USCIS Customer service is 1-800-375-5283. You should call between 8AM-6PM to actually get someone live.

eltemp, I think for e-mail responses for VSC follow-up, they say to give them 23 days to respond. If you don't hear from them by then, I believe there is another e-mail for their supervisors, which give you 10 days.

Hey Jasmin&Travis,

To be honest I am kind of loosing hope that I'll be approved within the regular time...the reason is that I sent an email to USCIS specifically explaining that even though I had called to have this issue fixed, to have my case to show online, the officer simply replied: your case is pending and use the website to check your status. So he/she was telling me to check the status of a case I can't see on the website wacko.gif plus they already approving people from June... and many many from mid/late May... so I am happy that a lot of people are being approved, but with the same token... I don't understand what is so complicated about my case that has not been approved yet...and I could not even imagine how the people who filled in March, April, etc...are coping with this annoying experience, which is just one of at least 4 different processes. .. but hopefully I am wrong... today is just a bad/frustrating day...

So I got an e-mail response from VSC, stating that on July 29, they mailed a response stating they changed our address. It was signed by someone in the Customer Service Unit (is that an immigration officer?). It's weird because if it was an immigration officer, and they looked at our file, the last updated date would change, but it still says, July 30, 2009. Roland will still call USCIS and insist on talking to someone on September 11, though...

Well Tina,

I thought I had found it on the main page, but I just went there again to look for it and could not find, so I know I got it from a news link about an article on the new website...but I cant see it... sometimes I get lucky like that to find such things...

Anyhow to me it definately looks good...

Weird, because I can't even open the link.....
