Not sure if these pictures will work, but I'll try anyway...something to enjoy for us Canucks.

Below is a pictures of a female moose (cow) that my fiance took during our trip to Algonquin this Thanksgiving. This will be what I will miss when I leave here, I think.

Enjoy!

QUOTE (Danu @ Oct 15 2009, 04:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm very hopeful for you guys, I just don't want to see you guys get your hopes up super high to get crushed again (like I did when I got a similar email) When I emailed them in August they said I was on the list, that they had noted my early October wedding and that I was to be scheduled soonest for an interview. That all turned out to be a bunch of garbage. I really hope its not for you, especially with what they did to you last week, but I wanted to let you know they said the same thing to me...I think they just say it to get us off their backs (not that it worked once mid Sept rolled around and there was still no interview in sight)

This was my email to them in August
QUOTE
This is an inquiry to our case. We have recently returned the info packet for our K1 Visa. I wish to confirm receipt to your embassy of our package.

As well we do have a request if possible. Our wedding is scheduled for 1st week of Oct, and my fiance has time scheduled off of work for the event as well as to come up to Canada to escort me in my drive across country. As this was scheduled in advance it will not be easy to reschedule so we were hoping that we could request and interview date some time around or prior to the 15th of September. I understand that there are no guarantees, but if you could note our account, we would appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for your reply

And their reply
QUOTE
Please be advised that once we receive your paperwork your case will be placed on a waiting list for an appointment.

I have noted your file that you have an early October wedding and therefore will be scheduled soonest and advised

by mail of the appointment date. Thank you for your patience.

OP6

At least it sounds like OP 6 answers in sentences. I have noticed that OP 5 an OP 1 only type a few words in their replies, so that sounds like an improvement.

By the way, my package 3 got to MTL a day late. It was priority AM, which meant it should have gotten there on October 1, Friday morning. I called Canada Post and today I received a check for the full refund. So that was the good news for the day.

Hey all,

Just called DoS and they my packet 3 logged on October 9. I asked the lady approximately when I'd get an interview and she said it's looking like 5 months, which will put me through about March.

Yeah, from my experience e-mailing Montreal, they typically answer questions that just require yes/no answers.

They tend to ignore the ones that require more words...

Regarding DoS, I find some of those people to be pretty mean.

I guess it's best to use both contacts.

So is it best to call DoS and/or e-mail Montreal 3 weeks after we send back packet 3 to check on the progress? Thanks.

So based on last year's posts, Montreal sends out appointment letters in early December for January/February interviews.

I hope they'll be nicer come holiday season. Did anyone have interviews last year in December?

Actually, I should correct that...I think I should have moved to Vancouver...at least it's faster over there.

I'm seeing that all those people who got the NOA2 after me have received interview dates from their embassies...(sigh)

Oh well, I just sent my packet 3 without the photos. Whatever happens, I know I did follow instructions...the photos will be required for the interview.

Also, I think when I asked Montreal, Operator 5 said "you can attach the photos", not that "you should attach the photos". I really hate word games. Anyway, I guess I'll call DoS next Friday to see if everything is ok....

Another question: I got a response from the Consulate about the photos for DS 156. Operator 5 said, "You can attach it". I'm not sure if that means I should attach it or I can just bring them with me to the interview. So I fired another e-mail to clarify.

Did anyone attach photos to the DS 156 they sent in in response to P3? Thanks.

Tina

I didnt have to send in the 156, but I didnt send any photos with my packet.

It's all very confusing because on one page under photographs, it does say two photos will be requested at the interview. I'm assuming that those are for the two copies of DS 156 they wanted. Therefore if we attached it, we won't need to bring it with us to the interview because they already have it?

For my DS-156, I just had somebody take a digital picture of me standing in front of a white wall. I cropped the photo in paint and uploaded it onto the application. It was a completely different picture then the ones for the interview and medical. I had those five pictures taken at walmart and I didn’t get a date stamp on any of them. Nobody asked about when the pictures were taken, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

I think you are referring to the new DS 160? Yeah, I uploaded one passport photo for that one, too. I think I need to retake the ones for the medical and interview. My original plan was to have three identical ones for the medical and 2 identical ones to stick onto the paper DS 156. Now that plan is out of the question...I'm just hoping that not attaching photos onto the two copies of DS 156 I will send today will deem the application incomplete...

I think I'm just going to send in my DS 156 without the photos and bring them to the interview and see what they say. Hopefully it'll be okay.

The police check varies on where you live. Mine took a week, but I can't imagine it would be much longer than that. I know your wait for an interview will be!

I didn't write N/A but I figured they're smart enough to realize that if I didn't check the box for getting court documents, that I didn't need it.

For our packet 3, there were two columns: one for "Obtained"; another for "does not apply". So no matter what, we needed to put a check mark on everything. There was a weird date of 7/27/09 on it, so I'm assuming that this checklist was of July 27.

Hey guys! Still praying and hoping all of you get your interview dates soon.

And HYPER, please fill in your timeline so we can all get a better picture of what your situation is like.

Evidence of domcile is proof of where your SO lives.

I just used his pay stubs and the original I-129 papers he filled out and the letter from his work. All those things had the same home address on them so that was fine. They never asked for it though.

Thanks, domegirl. I guess I'll send my packet today. Hopefully I won't need the photos on the DS 156.

Yes you do say the medical is obtained, because you will have it when you go for the interview. Even if you don't actually have the police cert, med results, you still say you do.

So I say "Obtained" for all the ones that apply?
Tina&RolandFemaleCanada2009-10-01 12:28:00

So here is what I'm sending back:

-Cover letter
-DS 230 part 1
-email response from MTL saying just DS 160 confirmation is fine (in place of DS 160 application copy)
-DS 156K
-Two copies of DS 156 (no photos attached)
-DS 160 confirmation
-checklist

Am I missing anything? Thanks.

Tina

I'm actually worried about the checklist now. Do we just send it signed and dated or check off everything we have so far?

Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks.

No, I believe they do that at the interview, from what I've read in the reviews.

Ok, I guess that means I am ready to send in my packet 3.

What about the checklist? Do we mark down as "Obtained", including the medical?

Hi everyone,

So I got my packet 3 today but because of the photo requirements, I don't think I can send it today. I think I'm going to need to take 7 photos today:

3 for the medical
2 for the two copies of DS 156
2 for my two copies of DS 156

I think the one that I uploaded for the DS 160 might be a lost cause now...does anyone know if that one has to be the same? If yes, then I might need to redo it sad.gif

Thanks!

Tina

I just read my P3 again and you dont need them until the actual interview/medical.
You dont send them now.
That's how I read it. And you only need 5, not 7.

Where does it say that?

I NEED SOME HELP PLZZZZ
Two weeks ago i received the envelop from the us consulate in montreal, and they are saying : please complete and return to this office :
1-DS-230 PART 1
2-DS-160
3-DS-156
4-DS156K
AND THE CONFIRMING RECEIPT REGARDING FORM DS-160
AND CHECKLIST (ENCLOSED) INDICATING YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

SO MY QUESTIONS ARE:
DO I HAVE TO SEND THEM ALL ONE SHUT, EVEN AFTER MY MEDICAL EXAM?
DO I HAVE TO SEND THE ds-230 FIRST AND AFTER THE REST?

SO PLZ IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, I AM AFRAID TO BE LATE IF I WAIT TILL I FINISH EVERYTHING AND THEN SEND THEM

Hi,

I've been told to send everything required. I've made another copy of my complete application to bring to the interview, too (just in case).

As for the DS 160 application, I e-mailed Montreal consulate about not having my application, and they said that as long as you have the DS 160 confirmation, it should be ok.

Yes, you put a consulate on your I-129F form, but if you put the "wrong" one, NVC sends it to the right one. So even if you put Vancouver, they would look at your address and send it to Montreal.

Yeah, or vice versa...I've seen a post that NVC sent a file to Montreal but was supposed to go to Vancouver.

Just a general comment here: It looks like Montreal Consulate is highly selective on the e-mails they answer. They ignore the e-mails that I send regarding the status of my case, but they answer rapidly the questions I ask about DS 160. Strange, isn't it?
