Don't know if it means anything, but I got touched again today. I thought USCIS takes President's Day off. Oh well, I suppose some adjudicators are hard core :)

Update: My case is now at CSC....not that I'm complaining or anything, but it seems pretty fast. I've seen others take a week. Oh well, I guess USCIS is processing faster now. Let's hope that the case!

We didn't bother with the tax transcripts. My husband had pdf versions of his returns on Turbo Tax, so we just sent the 2008 and included a copy of his W2 and 1099...seems to be fine so far and hopefully will still be fine :)

Tina: Wow, that was REALLY fast! Congrats!

Huggles: yeah mine too, I got 3 diff EAD approvals, no approval for AP but it arrived and 3 diff notification that my case got transferred... :P

Congrats to everyone who has had their apps touched!

Thanks, darkchilde794! I know, it was pretty fast! I guess my pestering about having my hyphenated name corrected helped

Now if only my biometrics can a bit sooner, hopefully I can get my EAD approved....Id love to be able to start looking for jobs.

ah cool :D How did you get them to send you emails about them opening it? Did I miss adding something for that?

The form is G-1145...I wish I'd known that before I sent my apps, but oh well...

Thanks Hugglebuggles and darkchilde794! I'll just get there 10 minutes before, and bring my marriage certificate, passport, birth certificate, and everything else. My marriage certificate is a bit weird, though. It only has my maiden name, and my husband's name, and I literally had to change my name at SSA, so I suppose it doesn't hurt to bring that, either.

Anyway, hope things will go well!

Cool. You might find your EAD and AP approved not long after that. The EAD card comes with your thumb print on it! I was wondering why I had to bring my NOA for my EAD to the appointment. Course, the guy didn't even look at that!

Oh, and bring your marriage certificate too. I don't know if anyone else did, but I thought of it the last minute and I'm glad I did, because they asked for it here.

Thanks! Do you know if we have to go at the specific time, or it's on a first-come-first-served basis? Mine is at 3PM, but it would be nice if I could go in the morning.

One question. Did anyone get an RFE for sending just the form they gave you from the medical? I sent mine in with just that, but I'm trying to figure out what the odds are that I might get an RFE for it. I'm not missing any shots. I'm just all concerned now that they will send me an RFE for it.

And Peachy, I'm proud to be your AOS buddy!

I've heard some people got RFE's, some didn't. I just sent in the I-693 just in case. I, of course, didn't do the TB skin test, either, so I hope that won't be a problem...

Did anyone here that came on a K-1 visa not do the TB skin test and got a RFE for it? Thanks!

Maybe not. I got a touch the day after my hard copies came in the mail. I wish they would email you whenever they pick up the case, even if it's to say " We're blowing the dust off now..."

Yeah, I wish for that, too. Oh well, at least I know they are doing something.

The only slight issue that I might have is that I have hyphens on my first name and married name, but they don't appear on the NOA's. Hope that won't be an issue later.

Question: Is this like K1 where they would put your receipt number on the back of a cashed check before you receive your NOA? Or is there another way of finding out? Thanks!

CanadaAOS'rs...

My AP came in today!! Course, now I want to use it.. I really don't have plans to go back to Canada until my son gets married in Oct. but I'm just glad that I have it in case there is an emergency. It may still be a couple months before I see my GC ( I'm assuming )

I have two copies.. is that so I keep on and give one to CBP?

Great news!! I guess in a situation like this, just do what you need to and get the files in the mail! You'll hear something back soon. I did, and it was all good!

Congrats, TimandJoyce! We have submitted our AOS package this morning, and hoping for good news soon!

Ok, so I came back from my civil surgeon today and had to get another tetanus shot. Supposedly, USCIS requires 3 shots of tetanus. After that, you are required to have one every 10 years. I almost had a fit! Of course, perhaps this doctor has seen people come back to him because USCIS sent RFE's regarding inadequate vaccines. Anyway, needless to say, I did get another one for $25 and go bot the signoff for $50. The paperwork for AOS/EAD/AP is done and ready to be mailed off tomorrow! YAY! :)

I just came back from a civil surgeon who wanted to give me the full medical exam plus the blood test even though I had those all done in Toronto already. He didn't understand that as a K1 visa holder, I don't require it. To think I was going to get charged another $131! Anyway, I called around and found a clinic that knows that they just have to fill out the paperwork for $50 and can probably give it back to me while I wait....getting closer to the Jan. 15 deadline!

Quick question: For those who have applied for SSN, did you put down that you were "Legal Alien allowed to work" or "Legal Alien NOT allowed to work"? I ask this because the instructions say that if you put the latter then you need a letter from a federal agency that says that you need a SSN. If that's the case, what did you bring with you? I'm looking to apply tomorrow. Thanks!

I'm trying to fill out the G-325A form. Does Roland (my husband) need to fill one out, too? I know we had one form for each of us for the fiancee visa. I assume we file the same form with the I-485, with us being married? Thanks!

Great, thanks! Also for the AP form, what do you put for the "Intended date of departure" if you don't know it? Thanks!

My guess is that I just bring my vaccination info and chest X-Ray results to the civil surgeon in my area and get him/her to fill out the I-693? Thanks!

I'm not sure why we would need to send in the I-693 (is that what they mean by the vaccination supplement)? The medical that we got from Toronto is good for a year, so I assumed that we would use that. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

First off, Happy New Year!

Second, we're getting married next week and would like to send off our AOS/EAD/AP package soon after that. Just want to make sure that I know what to send in:

I-485 form
2 passport sized photos
copy of vaccination checklist
copy of NOA2
copy of police cert
copy of birth cert
copy of passport page with K1 Visa
G325-A
I-864
I-765 form
I-131 form
Fee of $1,010 ($930 + 80) (I assume it's this fee includes the fee for both AP and EAD?)

And I assume I send this all to:

USCIS
P.O. Box 805887
Chicago IL 60680-4120

If I'm missing anything, can someone correct me please? Many thanks!!

CanadaK-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal

Thanks. one more thing we noticed on the packet 4 stuff that it mentions the visa fee. 131 dollars or something but then something about a $400 fee for canada filed petitions. Is that referring to the I-129f petition? and if so. since I am the one in the states who filed it does it not apply to us. Or is it the original filing fee? It confuses us. thanks.

That confused us initially, too. This letter is kind of general and the $400 is for CR1's, I believe. Good luck!

Give it about a week after the interview. Mine came in about 6 days (that included weekends).

hi there!

this may seem like a dumb question but how do you know when montreal receives your packet 3? I see alot of your timelines say around 3 days. Did you send it registered mail or something? I sent mine from the States on December 14th just by regular mail. Is there a way to find out when they got the packet?

Thanks!

Hi,

There's a difference in when the consulate receives the packet and logs it. Even though it shows delivered to MTL, it does not mean that it's logged. For us, we sent it by next day express post and the consulate "supposedly" received it in 2 days. It took 7 days for them to log it, however. Good luck!

I picked up my medical today - I PASSED! smile.gif

Has anyone happened to get the appointment letter in the mail yet? That's the last thing we're waiting for now.

Um. how do you know you passed? All that I had access to with the medical documentation is the vaccination certificate, everything else is sealed in an envelope. Or did they tell you that you passed?

I'm wondering actually, and am lazy -- how long is the medical good for? And is it valid from the date of the exam, or from when the package/report was issued? Cause I had it back in August. I read somewhere that the same medical can be used for AOS but it has to be recent enough. Maybe it's a year or something.

Gah I do think I need those nice men with the lovely white bondage coat and padded room. wacko.gif

I asked the lady if I passed and she said yes, everything is okay. I think if they allow you to pick it up, then you're fine. I think it's good for a year.

Ok, so now I lost track...who's on the 20th? My fiance will be here for a math conference in Toronto, so it works out perfectly that our interview is on the 20th. We'll drive there the afternoon of the 19th there. We probably won't be able to stay until the evening, though, as he needs to get back to his conference.

Not sure if these pictures will work, but I'll try anyway...something to enjoy for us Canucks.

Below is a pictures of a female moose (cow) that my fiance took during our trip to Algonquin this Thanksgiving. This will be what I will miss when I leave here, I think.

Enjoy!
