DND2009, it's a bit of pain not knowing if/when the package left NVC. I suggest that you wait until Monday and call again.

Leo&Farah, congrats on sending packet 3! At least you won't be waiting long for the interview! If only our consulate were that fast. Hopefully they'll be nicer come holiday season.

yes, I had something similar, then found out I was stuck at NVC in AP status. I sincerely hope you have better luck, and go with those who pass quickly through the NVC phase. Godspeed!



What does AP status mean? And when it was sent to NVC orginially did you speak to someone on the phone and could they find your file then?


DND2009, AP means additional processing. Did NVC give you the date when the package left them? If they did, then the package did leave and the consulate just still hasn't logged your case into the system. Wait 5 business from when DHL said they delivered your package. Not sure how your consulate is, but that's what happened to the Montreal consulate.

So the good news is that Montreal has finally logged our packet into the system. I'm not sure how long after that they will send out packet 3, but at least I know it's not lost...whew! Hopefully packet 3 can be sent out today or tomorrow and I can get it next week.

Good morning, May filers!

Our case still hasn't been logged into the MTL consulate system, but I have already prepared the forms that I need to send back for Packet 3 (including the online one). It's very confusing to say the least. When I originally filled out my nationality, I wrote Taiwanese since I was born in Taiwan. However, my Canadian passport says that I'm Canadian. Someone from Montreal said I had to do it again.

Anyway, congrats on the recent NOA2 approvals! Those that are still in NVC, hope for a short AP. good.gif good.gif

No, just the USCIS number. Once NVC has received it, they override the USCIS and assign a NVC number beginning with letters of your consulate. Of course, when you first call NVC, you need to give them the USCIS number.

It was actually weird when I called because they just asked for the number. I told them. Then they asked me to verify the petitioner name and beneficiary name and dates of birth. Then they asked me what I needed to know. I then asked if they received our case and asked for their assigned number. Weird how it was in that order. When they asked me to verify, it meant they got our case, but I still needed to know the NVC number.

Anyway, you do need to find out your CRS number from NVC. They don't have it on the NOA2.

Is there another way to find out that CRS# ? how did that person found out about his/her case leaving so fast?
in Venezuela they do not send a notification or anything once it gets there... so I am just curious...

Agreed! I'm just so happy to know that more fellow May posters have been approved! May your journey through NVC be smooth! I suggest that those who got approved this week to call NVC on Monday to find out whether they got your case. We were approved on the 10th, USCIS sent our case on the 11th and NVC got it on the 14th. Then again, I've heard that some people's case take about a week to a month to reach NVC. Hope it's the former! good.gif

Sorry to hear that you're in AP...did they actually say that it was AP? For me, when I first called NVC, they didn't say anything. They just said that it typically takes 2-4 weeks to be forwarded to consulate, but I can check back on a weekly basis.

Hi ladonna,

Sure, just go to "My Controls", then "Edit my signature". This lets you put in whatever you want. Most people just put in their timelines. It's pretty cool because whenever you change your signature, the signature on all of your posts (past and present) change as well.

So to update everyone, I just received my vaccination records from the Department of Health, and it looks like most of the ones I needed, I'd already gotten when I was in high school. Thank God for that! I'm really afraid of needles.

ugh! 4-6 months for the consulate interview! that's horrible! my sympathy to you. Probably because there are a lot of Visa applicants from Canada, so those are busy consulates. Well, at least you are on the same continent together... I hope you are able to visit frequently. Not so easy when your love lives on a different continent. We've only had two visits together in 3 years, one for 3 weeks in Italy, another for 3 months in Texas.


There are only two consulates in Canada, one in Vancouver, the other in Montreal. West coast cities go to Vancouver and East coast goes to Montreal. I will keep calling DoS. I have nothing better to do anyway, since I will be out of a job in October sad.gif Oh well, c'est la vie!

I'm just hoping for an appointment by mid-December before Christmas *crossing fingers*

Eltemp, I have most of the forms. Unlike other embassies, other than the DS 156, we're supposed to submit an online form DS 160 and send it to the embassy, print out the confirmation form and send with all the other forms (very complicated if you ask me). As soon as the packet 3 comes, I'll send the forms the same day) and start calling DoS every day for an appointment.

I truly hope that we won't have to wait the 4-6 months they are saying (keeping fingers crossed!)

Thanks a lot... well I guess I have to wait is just that for the embassy in Venezuela I can request my interview as soon as I have that NVC case number... anyhow... I called today and nothing... I'll call tonight tongue.gif ... if nothing still... I hope Monday they will have it....

I guess I was just hopeful that they had it becase USCIS had an update yesterday.....


I think the update just means that it has been sent to NVC, not necessarily that NVC has received it. Ours was sent last Friday and NVC got it on Monday. However, I have heard that there are people whose case did not reach NVC until a week or two weeks later (no idea why), but hopefully your case would be like mine. Good luck!

Well, we haven't gotten our NOA2 hardcopy yet. Other people who were approved around the same time as us haven't, either. So at least it's not just us...it'll be about a week since we got the e-mail, so hopefully it will be here soon along with the NVC letter!

I believe the touch after the approval means it got sent to NVC. So yours should be on its way. From NVC to embassy could vary. I was hoping mine won't be in AP but apparently it was sent yesterday from NVC.

So I called Department of State today and they said that sent it yesterday and it's on its way to the Montreal embassy!! It should arrive today smile.gif

Here is something I found in another thread that someone posted post NOA2:

1) 2 days after NOA2, starting calling NVC: 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5.
2) Once NVC has your case, they assign a new case #. Ask them what date they sent your file to the embassy & also for the NVC case #.
3) Once you know the date NVC sent off the file, track it at DHL's website: http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef For the reference code, enter EXP 10 JUL 2009A (adjust using dates just before the date NVC told you), with a shipping range of that day to a few days later (July 13 - July 14 worked for the example above). Look for shipments to your beneficiary's embassy.
4) To find out if the embassy processed the packet, call the Dept of State before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0
5) You can also call the DoS to find out your interview date once you believe the embassy has scheduled it.

Got the biometrics done today, and hope for smooth sailing now! :dance:

Oh, and I got another text message today saying my status for my I-485 has changed. It gave me a heart attack because I had not had my biometrics done yet, so I thought I got an RFE or they sent the case back to the USCIS office. But the status was still the same, that it got transferred to CSC on Feb. 8. I hate it when USCIS does that - it's scary.

Anyway, all is good because I got touches on all 3 cases :)

Also, my hubby and I bought a house and we moved in this weekend..so many changes this year! Whew!
