Hey Tina,

Thanks so much for the positive vibes...it's been a challenging week for me and i needed a vote of confidence. It's good to hear that Montreal is on average 2 months, because i read that it was an average of 4 months! I also noticed that as of the last few weeks, we have been moving up quickly on Igor's list smile.gif

Enjoy the rest of your week and let's keep the positivity going!!!

Hi toronto nonie,

The truth is I am trying to keep a positive mindset. I'm just a little bit frustrated now because we still haven't received a hard copy notification from USCIS indicating that they got our change of address and updated our system. All we got were two touches. The weirdest thing is that most people I've talked to who have changed their addresses online never got a touch, but did get their notification in the mail within a week.

Roland feels it's not necessary to call them until the 45 day period is over (sigh). Unfortunately, I can't call them because I am the beneficiary, so I have to sit and wait patiently until Sept. 11. Oh well...

Anyway, hope you have a good one and hang in there!

Good morning, May filers!

Well, it looks like they are starting in on April filers now, so that may put us in mid-September to get our NOA2's. That would be perfect for me, since the Montreal consulate takes on average of 2 months for interview booking, and I would be able to reach the goal of moving in December...that used to be wishful thinking, but now it might actually be possible good.gif

Anyway, that's it for now. Hope y'all have a wonderful day and here's to hoping that more April approvals come so they start in on us smile.gif

DO NOT WAIT for them to respond. Call them. 18003755283

They are trying to screw us over saying I never put in a change of address. The cost for a remailed NOA2 is over $300!!!

Hi,

Are you saying that they could have sent our NOA2? We did get a touch, but it was after we put our change of address. Thanks.

I believe they said to wait 45 days, but I can't imagine why things take that long. Oh well, just wanted to vent out my frustration.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Hey everyone,

I guess things aren't as bad as they seem at VSC. At least there seem to be a few approvals every single day for the past few days. Glad that things are finally looking up for us. Here's to hoping for December visas good.gif

We've got new updates from USCIS is now saying processing time for I-129F 5 months kicking.gif kicking.gif let's hope that they hold to this information.

Please help yourselves and check it out, maybe I am too desperate to get my NOA2 that I can't see straight!! LOL

That's very good news! If that's the case, then I imagine there's a good chance that we'd be approved in 4 months (September in our case), which makes a December visa much more likely good.gif

Hey everyone!

How's everyone doing today? It still looks like CSC is doing so much better than VSC. They are already approving the May filers there. I keep wanting to call USCIS, but only Roland can do that, and he says that it's best to stay put. I'm the worrywart between us, as you can tell. Hopefully, there's still the chance to get the visa by December.

TiNa

Tina...i'm the anxious one in our relationship as well...it's tough to see May filers at CSC getting their NOA2, but i hope that our should start coming around September...i'm with you on the December timeline smile.gif

other than that, i'm doing well. My fiance is on his way to Toronto as we speak as we have two weddings this weekend...and then i'm flying down to Connecticut the long weekend. Just trying to get through each day and hope that this will all come to an end soon smile.gif

hope you are keeping well!

Hey toronto_nonie,

My fiance came last week and we had a shower barbeque party with friends in Toronto. His parents came from San Diego to celebrate with us. It was supposed to be our ceremonial wedding day, but the pastor at our church couldn't perform a ceremony without it being legal. We had a great time nonetheless.

Now, he is moving into our new apartment in Indianapolis. I asked him to check the mail, but there was nothing from USCIS. Oh well, at the very least, if we haven't received anything from them in 45 days. That date is September 11, 2009, they allow us to call them. Who knows, we may even receive the NOA2 by that time *fingers crossed*

Anyway, have fun with your fiance. Enjoy it and don't think about this smile.gif

Take care,

I think its more of a norm that the gentler sex in a relationship are the worriers.

This sucks. Petitioners at both centers pay the same amount for a service yet get different results. Something which affects people's lives. They should have adjudicators at the centers to take some sort of sensitivity training to be able to understand how taxing a long distance relationship can be and the effect of long drawn out red tape on the well being of families, children, spouses, fiances affected. Maybe then they would speed things up. How people don't even get to spend their first year of marriage together. How people don't get to see the birth of their first child or see the first of anything the child does during the first year. How much stress all the waiting puts on people affecting them mentally, emotionally and physically.

As of now, I imagine we're just dots on paperwork to them. Nameless faces. They shouldn't require so much personal information about a relationship to be divulged and then treat it with impassive apathy. And then hire incompetent people to run their misinformation line to placate people whos lives are being put on hold. I bet if their loved ones were at the hospital and some newbie doctor came up and gave some bullshit diagnosis of what is going on, they wouldn't be happy either and would be screaming bloody murder. The system should be more transparent. The openness should go both ways.

And then they should go through some training where they are told to imagine something they want more than anything in the world and then make it impossible for them to do anything but wait. Being helpless is horrible. The human condition allows some hope where a situation exists where actual action can be undertaken. To strip someone of that ability to do anything but wait and then place the decision in the hands of a complete stranger and THEN expect them to be happy waiting months for a decision by this person to be made is just inhumane.

Hear, Hear!!.
Any person I spoke with on the phone regarding this K-1 visa was not rude, but certainly was insensitive to how we feel. Good thing we have all our friends here at VJ to help us through the process and support us and afford us some transparency to the mystery that is the K-1 visa process!!

I have kept relatively quiet in this group, since I felt guilty about getting the NOA2 so quickly when so many others wait for so long, but I have been following along with May VSC filers progress, and wish you all many successes.

Were you able to see your case online and received touches? Thanks for the good wishes! Best of luck to you, too!

You can change your address online on the USCIS website. That's how Roland did it. When you do that, it gives you a confirmation that says you would hear from them in 45 days. If you don't hear within 45 days, you should call them. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if we can do it online if our case can't even be seen online? I suppose we can google the number to call USCIS to inform them verbally if nothing else. I'm so stressed about the move, so much to handle ontop of worrying about the visa!

Here's the thing...we could never track ours online, either. Roland just entered the case number and then after that, it was entered in the system. Hope that helps!

Roland changed his address online - that's probably what triggered it. I don't know what it means either when his new address actually resides in CSC. I'm not sure if they will move our petition to CSC or let it stay at VSC. I guess we'll see.

Just checking, how did you actually update your address? Afaik, they said we should call USCIS and tell them verbally then check back later. Leo's gonna be moving soon so we're worried we'll miss the NOA2 letter if we don't do things right. Did you also set up a forwarding address at USPS?

Hey everyone,

Yeah, I guess we're just not that talkative because things are going ever so slowly. The news here is that Roland has updated his address online. Before this, we have not been able to see our case updated online. Perhaps this will trigger something. Another piece of wishful thinking is that since the new address is in Indianapolis, that puts us in Calfornia Service Center. Not betting on it right now, but perhaps we could get moved there??

Hey Guys,

This, the whole USCIS VSC time to respond, is starting to be more stupid than anything! the whole timelime.....because there are people waiting on 180 days! mad.gif .... and no NOA2 yet... and for a lot of January Fillers they got approved +/- 90-110 days... then May came along and they just got lazy, it looked like they did not work the whole month!! not that is surprising or anything!.... Now June comes and January fillers picks up and we are almost starting August... and still February people being approved... mad.gif mad.gif

So my thing is... if one of the agents told me that they do not have a lot of work because less people are applying....why the !@#!@# are we getting back to the 5, 6, and 7 month waiting for our NOA2? ... As you can see I'm very unhappy about how things are turning... because if they take this long with people from February.. what is there to expect for us! Plus, it's even more maddening when the CSC are working so much faster is even sad to compare the two places!

Are you sure the agent wasn't from CSC?

Hey Guys,

Being one of the "lucky ones" whose case is not on the website, I call from time to time to find out the status of my case. Yesterday, I talked to this really nice and eloquent lady who told me a lot of interesting information. She mentioned that as of right now they are trying to finish all the backlog, which is why we are seeing all the people from Nov-Jan who where left behind... being approved. Also, she mentioned that they are receiving way less applications than what they expected to the point that a lot of the agents are getting cases from other types of visas because they do not have anything to do... so according to her, they should process ours in no longer than 5 months maybe way earlier because of the number of applications being so low compared to other months and years...

Lets hope that what she said will happen and we all get our NOA2's by the end of September if not earlier good.gif would be great

Good luck to y'all

That's GREAT NEWS! Hope the lady is right! *Fingers crossed* smile.gif

We stayed at the Travelodge, which is a 10 minute walk to the consulate. We booked this through Hotels.com for $79.99 + tax, so it's fairly cheap. The downside is that the rooms are slightly on the small end. However, if you don't plan on staying more than one night, I'd recommend it. Oh, I should add that there are no bed bugs for those worrying about that. good.gif

CanadaSupport for United Way video
Dear VJ Friends,

Telamon Corporation, the company I currently work for, is participating in a video contest for the United Way Give Gleefully campaign. I am also in the video, so you'll probably get a good laugh! There is 1 month left for the voting. Starting Tuesday, November 1st we need everyone to vote and donate. You are allowed ONE VOTE PER DAY, and so we need everyone to VOTE DAILY. The link below will take you to the United Way website and the video.

The first time you click the vote button it will ask for your name and email address. United Way will send you an email; in order to activate your voting, you must click on the link in the email. This will cast your vote for the first day. Then each proceeding day all you have to do is hit the vote button. The number of votes will re-set starting November 1st, and our video will be measured by the number of votes we receive from Nov 1st – Nov 30th.

The 2nd part of this competition is to see who can raise the most money through donation. We need to raise more money for the United Way. The link will allow you to donate straight on their website via credit card or PayPal account.

Currently we are neck and neck with a company that has over 10,000 employees, so we need your help!!

Mathew wants to bring his 2004 Toyota Corolla down with him whenever he moves. The car never had a loan or anything as his dad paid cash for it. But the car is in his dads name.

He's going to have to get that transferred isn't he?? Hopefully that part will be free. I know when my dad put his old car in my name they didn't charge anything because it was a family transfer.

I bought my Dad's car for a nominal amount and transferred the title. I think in all it was about $400 for the title transfer. This was through Ministry of Ontario.

There is a 2.5% duty on the value of your vehicle. The only way to get around paying the duty is to bring it with you when you immigrate. Or bring it after you immigrate.

Or if you have a really old vehicle, such as my 1996 Mercury Villager, you might get out of paying duty as well. good.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTax returns
Hi,

Has anyone not included tax returns and gotten approved and/or not received an RFE? We filed separately for 2010 for a reason, so we didn't include that in our application. We have other convincing evidence of a bonafide marriage, so we didn't feel it necessary to include the return:

Copy of water bill with both names
Copy of joint credit card accounts
Copy of joint checking account
Copy of joint stock account
Copy of automobile insurance coverage with both names
Copy of vaccination certificate for pet dog with both names
Copy of Life insurance policy naming me as beneficiary
Copy of Guardian Life insurance with both names as insureds
Copy of Group Term Life and Accidental Death coverage naming hubby as beneficiary
Copy of Automobile title with both names
Copy of Notice of Transfer of Rights of house with both names on it
Copy of Home owner’s title insurance addressed to both names
Copy of Property tax information addressed to both names
Picture of the two of us with family and friends (2010-2011)
Copies of holiday cards addressed to both
Notarized affidavits from family and friends

I guess in the end if we get an RFE for it, we'll have to send it with an explanation of why we filed separately, but really if you read the instructions, it does say "including" meaning, "not required".

Just wanted to see other people's experience.

Thanks,

Tina
