PhilippinesQuestion on Income
QUOTE (AbbynSheryl @ Aug 13 2009, 01:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
it is after tax . u have to make about $25000.00 a year to cross the poverty line income. they want to u to pay tax on the net income, just look at the line 22 on ur IRS form, it should cross the 25K marks then u set. good luck. abby n sheryl

Actually it is gross income (before tax) and if you are only sponsoring your fiance and neither of you have any kids then it would only need to be about $18,500.

Click the link from Haole above it has the actual guidelines.

Well yesterday when i called the USEM twice, both guys told me that our case was in their system, but wasn't "qualified" for an interview date.
They both told me to call back in 2 weeks to inquire again.
There was no way i was gonna wait that long, so i called them again just now and my girl has an interview date on Sept. 2nd!!!!
FINALLY we feel like we can see the finish line! I just wanted to let yall know to keep calling them to check daily because obviously it can make a difference!

I don't believe in Superstition. That is baloney.

My wife has a Birthmark adjacent to her clit but it don't mean nothing.

But my wife's relatives in Davao are into superstitious beliefs Big Time.

They even believe that a Good dream the night before will win them big in jueteng.

I reckon the problem is in the truck. I have a Ford F-150 to haul my Ranger bass boat.

Of course we Texans always say that Texas is God's country and don't mess with Texas.

I dont believe in superstitions too, but people say that a person with a big mole on his/her nape means that he or she will be a chic/men magnet.....i guess i have to believe coz i have a big mole on my nape...LOL rofl.gif *joking

Oh! Birthmark adjacent to her clit means a good bed partner! still dont believe on it?!! devil.gif devil.gif devil.gif

Mariel, can I buy you a Margarita and a plate of carnitas with frijoles negros, guacamole and sour cream?

And we can spend the day picnicking by the banks of the Rio Grande.

Where were you before I met Pilar two years ago?

We should be making Sweet music together now.

I wonder if Pilar ever read PI forum! devil.gif

I guess not Ate Toni...I should be getting a lot of death threat by now! devil.gif

You ain't helping, pal. You're just confusing everybody with your bad info. Hence, please cease and desist in giving false information!

if i give false info then how did i get my whole CR1 process in the fastest time in VJ.lol.
if u wanna help people open ur own VJ where only u can advise, good luck.
abby n sheryl

Not to throw wood on the fire Abby but if you don't know the ACTUAL answer it is much better to just not answer. Nothing against you but it just causes confusion. It is better to learn the truth than 2 try to teach the wrong answer.
This is the second time I can affirm you gave wrong info. You told someone the other day it took $25,000 to qualify as sponsor for 2 people the actual # is $18,212. So you caused that individual to be confused and worried they might not qualify perhaps.
Its great you want to help but learning from one another is easier if you just wait for someone who ACTUALLY knows the answer then next time you can answer correctly. Nobody would ever figure anything out if 8 people just threw out what they THOUGHT the answer was to a question and 7 were wrong, It would just be a big cluster**** until the one who was right convinced or proved everyone else wrong.
You probably got approved in the fastest time on VJ for your CR1 by luck, or your case wasn't that difficult or whatever, but the fact remains you do give out wrong info, don't feel bad I did the same thing ONE TIME and then I learned it is better to wait to be helpful more when I KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT.

PhilippinesCFO question...
http://www.cfo.gov.ph/fs_manila.htm

People are confusing these issues...First there are two parts to the CFO seminars the actual seminar and the getting the stamp.

First the seminar requirements along with the 250php fee. Along with these things they also asked my wife (then fiance) for a picture of us together.(she took seminar at Manila at PRISM)

1. Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;
2. Duly completed guidance and counseling form;
3. If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office (NSO), or Local Civil Registry Offices (LCRO); or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate (if married abroad)
4. Other documents as may be required by the counselors; and
5. Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

AFTER the seminar they give you the certification that you took the seminar and it is what you bring back after the interview and get your stamp.

Then after the interview IF YOU ARE DOING THE SEMINAR BEFOREHAND

Then the aquisition of the stamp after completion of the seminar along with the 400php fee.

1. Original Passport;
2. Original and photocopy of visa;
3. Original and photocopy of Immigrant Data Summary for US bound/Confirmation of Permanent Residence for Canada bound/ Embassy Certification of Eligibility (for Spain bound C visa holders);
4. Original CFO guidance and counseling certificate;
5. Duly completed emigrant registration form; and
6. Payment of the authorized registration fee.

Hope this helps clear up the confusion, again.

PhilippinesQuestions about the DS forms from USEM...
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Aug 21 2009, 10:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So....
1) Can these be hand written, or do they HAVE to be typed?

They can be handwritten but it looks a lot neater if you just fill out online and print.

2) In the spaces that do not apply to her, N/A, NONE, or leave BLANK?

Leave none blank use N/A if it Not Applicable and NONE if its NONE.

Anyone that has already completed these, and gotten their visa, please respond....thanks.

QUOTE (GD21)
DS 157 she'll get from the BDO when she pays her visa fee, it'll be validated by the bank on the back. My girl just got it. The other 2 you fill out online and print from what I understand.

You can fill out and print the DS 157 and take it with her to BDO and have them validate it.

PhilippinesGetting married in Michigan - Name change
QUOTE (Matt & Bing @ Aug 18 2009, 06:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
When I applied for our marriage license at the County Clerk's office last week they told me that the Secretary of State's office would not let my fiancee make her current last name (maiden name) her middle name on the marriage certificate as is the custom in the Philippines. We would have to legally change her middle name after marriage to change to her maiden name if we wanted to do that.

Has anyone else in Michigan (or elsewhere) dealt with this issue?

Most states records of marriage are under the maiden name the recorded record with the state show names before marriage.
Also, they wouldn't let us in Indiana, according to my research people say you fill out the AOS paperwork with the name change and once you get the EAD you change everything from there. I'm kinda nervous about getting an RFE, so we decided to do all the immigration stuff with her name like we change in US just the last name. Then after it is all finished change it in the courts.
Do a search on visajourneys site and you will find many threads about this subject.

PhilippinesN/A or NONE?!!!!!!!!!!!
QUOTE (rockhouse @ Aug 22 2009, 10:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Me and my girl are freakin out on these DS Forms! These questions are not SPECIFIC enough! For example on the DS-156, number 25, it asks for the name and phone number of the person-
"Who you will be staying with or visiting for tourism or business"
What the hell should she write there? Is it my name, N/A or NONE?! She's not coming for business reasons! It's a K1!
On alot of the other places NONE and N/A are very interchangeable! They want these things filled out properly but the questions aren't specific enough!
I'm so sick of this BS!!!!!!

I downloaded an example form of the DS-156 from VJ but it seems not real accurate on alot of the answers. Someone PLEASE help us with a link to a PROPERLY and COMPLETE filled-out DS-156 form!!!
Thanks.

OK breath deep NOW exhale...it is a little confusing with the NONE and N/A but just follow the VJ sample...

As for question 25 you put your name there....it asks "Who you will be staying with or visiting for tourism or business" I'm not sure but I think the DS156 may be used for tourist and work visas also...so just answer LIKE I DID by sticking to the first part of the question and ignoring the OR part....so "Who you will be staying with"
If you have anymore questions about this particular form feel free to pm me...

what are the fees to be collected at NAIA -- taxes? terminal fees? baggages?

I would highly appreciate your replies .

Thank you and God bless to each and everyone.

It depends on the airline and airport, they don't always asked but it's better to be safe than sorry.
It has something to do with the person buying the ticket and not being on the ticket or flying with you.

Ive read in the forums that we can call the embassy to check if they have received it.
So if I call them everyday, does that mean I have to pay the $18 for the pin that is good for two uses until they tell me they have the case?

In a word, Yes. But I have heard many people say they used those PIN #'s many more times than 2.
I believe you can also call this # to find out if the embassy processed the packet, call the Dept of State before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0

QUOTE (rockhouse @ Aug 24 2009, 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If our case was filed in March of 2009, and the USCIS had evidence of our relationship such as emails, chat logs, letters, etc., isn't that stuff forwarded to the NVC, then to the USEM?
If it is, then all the USEM would need for relationship evidence would be anything AFTER the NOA2....correct?
My girl wants to know if she should bring emails, chat logs, etc. from March until now, or just from the NOA2 until now.
Thanks.

All we gave them when Elena and I went to the interview was the new evidence, they never asked for anything else and we were approved in 5 minutes. It will be a breeze, just take all you have and give them the newest stuff to update the file and if they ask for more you will have it handy.
It's is better to be prepared with whatever they may ask for than to risk getting a white slip, it is a guess once you get one of those as to how long it will take them to get back around to looking at your file after you get them what they ask for.

OK from someone who has already done it...everyone breath deep. Now breath again, it will all be ok. As long as you have covered everything in the guides there is nothing to worry about. Manila is not known for denials unless there is really something wrong. Download and start getting used to the AOS stuff it isn't that bad but it will keep you occupied. Main thing right now is keep your beneficiary calm, help them be ready spend some time questioning them about some details about you so they can be ready to answer questions easily.
