PEACE.......... I think that's a good idea. I'd also suggest that he file for an extension on his taxes and show the extension paperwork at the meeting as well. Plain and simple he needs to file the taxes, an extension while good in April really is no good this late in year as they run out after 6 months and when you get the extension you have to include an estimated payment. So best thing to do is get them filed. If you provide a previous year they are just gonna ask for the MOST recent years taxes anyway or a letter explaining why they can't be provided and "i just haven't done them yet" won't cut it. It really wasn't clear the first time around. To the OP: The form is pretty clear: List all children under the age of 21. She won't be accompanying you, and she won't be following you, so tick "No" for both. If you're concerned about it, you could write "See explanation on attached sheet" on the next line and attach a sheet explaining that your child is a US citizen and already living in the US—but this probably isn't necessary. It will already be clear from question 37 on the DS-156, "Are any of the following persons in the U.S., or do they have U.S. legal permanent residence or U.S. citizenship?" To bad everyone can't just say "I was wrong in my original answer", It happens to everyone once in awhile. Instead we have to watch the hole digging and squirming. Thanks! The 4-5 months from filing to embassy is pretty static, meaning it floats around that time for most petitions. The visa interviews and approvals on the other hand are very much spread from here to there...it really just depends on the embassy you are working with, from what I read it seems Canada does usually have a long period of time between petition approval and interview date.
