Mexico, Latin & South AmericaYardies, at home and a farrin' (Part 4)

You will get a packet 4, You will not need to file any of the below. Packet 4 will provide instructions for photos, police reports, medical form and list of doctors that can provide it. and the last 2 pages of the DS-230.

They are in disarray in Kingston since the move in December and can't keep track of anything properly. It is time for you to call
Phone (All visa inquiries): (876) 702-6000, Monday and Friday 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
and enquire about your appointment.

One note: Make sure if he has smoked weed he hasn't for at least 4 months before the physical, and he should never admit it on the paperwork or to anyone. They will bar him from the US for 3 years from the date of the interview, or from the time he admitted to stopping smoking.

DO I HAVE TO FILL OUT DS 156, 156K, 157 EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NON-IMMIGRANT APPLICATIONS...I'M A LITTLE CONFUSED.. WHAT WILL I GET IN PACKETS 3 AND 4 ?

THANKS

Thanks Eric....He told me has not me but he is around ppl that do..and I wouldn't doubt him doing it evry once in a while..damn him...I will start calling on Monday...They replied to one of my emails saying I have an appt May 24th but it didn't specify for what so I am assuming it is for checking the status of the case...3 more yrs wow..thats a long time

That would be the Interview, you should get the packet 4 soon. They sent ours to both myself and my wife, though mail is slow in JA. I'd wait till friday, if you or your hubby have not received packet 4 yet. Then call and request an appointment to come to the information window to pick it up, letting them know when you appointment is scheduled for.

Be clear to hubby they will find out if he's smoked in the past 4 months and it is worth the delay of rescheduling to be sure he's not stuck in JA for 3 more years.

THis should be fine, only the w-2 in a separate mail concerns me. I filed 3 years as single and amended them all at the same time when we finally got the paperwork to file for the ITIN. It took a few months but the refund checks eventually showed up. Funny thing is, when getting a transcript on my taxes from the IRS the amended tax returns did not show, only the originals.

Hey!

Since you guys are talking about taxes, I have a quick question about amending taxes.

[Wait: Good morning to everyone, I hope you all are having a great day. ]

Ok, so I just amended my taxes because I made a couple mistakes. First, I filed online with a filing status as single because I didn't know about the ITIN number for hubby. Plus I received an extra 1099 form that I need to add as income.
So I amended my taxes by paper and I mailed them in at 11:58pm on the day the 17th. Since I have been pregnant I have been losing my mind, and I forgot to send in one of my W-2 forms with my amendment so I have to mail that separately. And then to top things off, I mailed my amended taxes with the application for the ITIN to the ITIN department, because the instructions told me to. (Hopefully that was right, since I am not orginally filing, but correcting what I already filed- but it should because the ITIN is the reason for the amendment.....these are my inner thoughts.)

I have been sitting on my little butt, stuffing my face, and watching Passions and Grey's Anatomy (and Notes From The Underbelly) and I want to get some things together for the rest of this process for my hubby. SO, my question is (whew!)... the paper copy of the amendment...is that what I should send my hubby OR will the IRS send me a new copy of my tax forms with some kind of stamp of approval? I have never amended before..obviously.

Thanks,
Miss Jones

Hello all. The stranger is back. First thing VISA APPROVED      Thursday April 19th.

Of course as the rest of our case went it was another roller coaster ride. Here’s how the last month or so went. Where I left off we were told Nickiesha needed another physical on her interview on Feb 20th. They also told us that they would schedule her a BLUE SHEET interview before her police report expired on March 23rd, if we got the physical done quickly. That day we scheduled another physical for just a few days later. The following day I requested the appointment. It took weeks for them to come back with an April 3rd date; of course this was too late for the police report. Calls reminding them of their promise by myself and Indiana Senator Lugar’s office had no effect. So Nickiesha goes for an expedited police report. She returns as scheduled to pick it up. They tell her sorry it’s not ready we will send it to your local police station for Thursday April 5th. Of course that is too late so we have to reschedule the interview. Of course it did show up in the afternoon on April 3rd. I manage to get an April 19th date at 12:30, which is 1:30 here in Indiana. Around 2pm I get a call from Nickiesha, they will not let her in for the interview; her name is not on the list. I tell her to wait across the street; I’m going to make some calls. I call Senator Lugar’s office, they say they’ll call the embassy and see what they can do. I call a few times myself, I get routed to voicemail and then eventually to the idiot security guard that was giving my wife the problems in the first place. End result of my calls the idiot tells me that we will have to get another appointment. I tell him that this isn’t the end of it they will be hearing from a US Senator. About 45 minutes later I get a call from the senator’s office. They tell me they found where she did have an appointment and had no explanation why she was not on the list. He still had them on the line at the time. He asks me if she is still there. I say yes she is waiting across the street. I was told she should come back in 5 minutes they will let the security guard know she can be let in. I would have loved to see that man’s face when he was told. I suspect the office was embarrassed over the situation as when she got to the door they brought her straight in, took her passport and police report and she was out of there in less than 20 minutes. Throughout this whole procedure they including the previous interview they never asked her one question.

Nickiesha’s flight is next week Saturday. Four years and five scheduled interviews later finally a visa.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestio about I130

Hi everyone I first wanna thank you for your replies.....they are really helping us a lot!!!
When we sent our I130 we made sure we would send all the required documents, such as:
my husband's (US citizen) birth certificate, front and back as a proof of US citizenship
my birth certificate (like you said, just in case, you never know) with the official english translation
our marriage certificate
Biographic documents 2 G325As
2 passport size pics one of me and the other one my husband's
and, of course, the money order for 185$ I think we paid it was the second week of October 2005, so fees hadn't been changed yet.
That's it pretty much...maybe they just want the original copy of our marriage certificate or maybe they lost something. We are kind of freaking out here because we keep thinking of what is wrong and the more I think, the more I realize....Nothing is actually wrong with our petition....it was perfect, or at least we thought it was.
Because when our friend called they specifically said "a document IS MISSED" So, I guess we MISSED something, like we didn't put something that was actually required....but as you can see we even put my birth certificate, which was not required at all. So it was moe than perfect. Unless, whne they opened the envelope, our pics fell and now thye need new ones. Jesus, I don't know what more I can think of. What else is required for the I130 that we have probably missed?
Thanks a lot guys!!! (L)

I may be trying to read between the lines too much, and it has been years since I filed the I-130, but it appears that you sent a photo copy of your husbands Birth Certificate. I believe an original is required.

If I am wrong I am sure someone here will correct me.

Hi everyone! I've just been reading through all of your latest updates. Mand, Sinead is absolutely adorable!

All is well here in Indy. We celebrated our 1st anniversary this last sunday, in a very american fashion- went to the zoo, miniature golf, bowling, out for ice cream- it was great fun. Had a great dinner at a local sushi place as well (i know that sounds strange, sushi in Indiana, but it was GOOD!).

Everything is pretty much as it was last time I posted- jobs are going along, the house is shaping up nicely and starting to feel more like our home. eventually we'll move to Ireland but it's nice to be settled here for a little while!

We'll be heading over to Ireland probably in July- we'll become an auntie and uncle in early june and will need to take a trip over to see our new nephew! We're looking forward to seeing all the family and friends back in Cork.

Right so, hope all is still well with everyone, take care of yourselves!

Hi everyone!! Sounds like things are going well for all of you and I hope it keeps up. Mand, best of luck as the baby's big day draws closer!!

Things are good here in Indy- we bought our first house a couple of weeks ago!!!! it was exciting and nerve-wracking and I'm so glad we did it. It's a great little place, perfect for us and so nice for Denis to have somewhere here to truly call home.

We're heading to Cork on Nov. 23 and staying til Dec. 2..we'll have a great time in Cork and will also be traveling to Belgium to see his brother and bro's fiancee. He can't wait to see his family and I'm nearly as excited. My parents will be coming along as well- they've never been to Ireland so this should be quite a trip.

Not too much else happening but I did want to drop in and see how you all are keeping. Keep us posted and we'll drop in again soon!

good luck with everything over here!

I've posted our whole experience in the AOS forum if you're interested. Most of all we're just relieved and glad to be done with all of this nonsense for a couple years.

J- enjoy your trip to Cork! I'm so jealous- I am hoping we'll get there in November or so. If you get a chance go to Deanos fish and chips and get some chips with cheese and garlic mayo...i've been dying for them since December.

We have out greencard interview in a week in Indianapolis and we'll be sure to post our experience on here. We went through the list of questions this weekend and had a good laugh about being sure we know which drawers I keep my underwear in and where he keeps his :) I'm pretty excited about the interview myself- interested to see how it all runs, what they ask, etc. since we've nothing to hide there's nothing to be nervous about.

Hope to get updates from other folks soon!

Hello all, another quick update- Denis got a job and started working yesterday! So far so good, he seems to enjoy it and it should be an excellent starting point for his career in the U.S. We have our greencard interview on June 19 and I'm starting to get a little nervous. We haven't put anything together for it yet, and he's just started working and I'm starting my first "real" job (not an internship or summer job) on Monday. So we'll have our work cut out for us the next couple of weeks!

Hope the rest of you are well!

Hi again Sowens, hope all is well. I've been over to Ireland too many times to count now and I love it. admittedly, the first time i was there i was a bit mystified by the place...i found it very different than where i grew up in michigan but loved it all the same. I'm hoping we'll get back there this fall with my parents. They haven't been yet and are really looking forward to it. Someday we will likely end up in Ireland, but not for a good few years. I'm just starting my career, and as we've gone though so much just to get Denis here we'll be sticking around a while.

Anyhow gang we're off to Mexico tomorrow for my brother's wedding. We'll let you all know how the AP goes...we're not nervous but it's a bit difficult because we're on two totally different flights thanks to AP arriving at the last minute! But hopefully we'll both make it to Cancun and back without any hassle.

Hi everyone!! Good to catch up on how everyone is doing. Denis and I had our "real" wedding on April 1 and it was fantastic, simply the best day of my life. All of his immediate family were there and stayed for a few days which really made things special.

his AOS interview is coming up on June 19, we're hoping his EAD comes before that. but the one we were really happy about was his AP- my brother is getting married in mexico in 12 days and we didn't think Denis would be able to make it... but lo and behold the gov't came through for us! now if we had an EAD waiting in the mail upon our return from mexico we'd be really excited.

Anyhow, i hopw all the other irish newbies are doing well here in the states and settling in. there's certainly been some difficult moments for us but each day things get a little easier. it'll be much better when he has permission to work.

Take care and hope to see you all posting updates soon

(off to bed with the hubby who unfortunately got his second really bad American haircut today. i dunno if the stylists can't quite understand him or if he's just having bad hair luck!!)

Well its official, the man from Cork is here in Indianapolis :) tell the midwest to watch out! he got in last night with no trouble at all and it was such a RELIEF to see him again. i'm sooooo happy today, grinning from ear to ear. poor fella just went to take a nap, the jet lag is catching up a bit, but i've got us booked for a couples massage this evening so i think that'll help get him in order too.

i can't believe we made it this far..well actually i can, it just seems like a dream. three and a half years, most of it long distance, save for six months together in edinburgh...and that was followed by the toughest month apart that we ever spent. but that month ended yesterday when he came down the escalator and spotted me hauling his bags off the baggage claim!!

so all is well in Indiana. it finally feels like i can really get on with my life now.

Thanks guys.

We were only ever able to call the Embassy between 1 and 4. I wouldn't worry too much about the message; I know some folks on here have had calls from them just verifying that they are ready for the interview and have all materials in hand.

Denis said the people at the Embassy were very cordial and professional. The only thing we ever had trouble with was them sending him the wrong stuff! But of course we had VJ on our side :) and it was never a major issue.

Things will go just fine for you, just keep following the guides on here and you'll get the visa before you know it!

Thanks! I'm so anxious. We've been moving towards this for some time now and the waiting if so difficult because neither of us can afford to just fly over for quick visits and I have two more months until I can get back there. I know I will be majorly relieved when I get the ball officially rolling by having that 129F filed and received even though there are so many hoops to jump through. I really think someone needs to re-evaluate this process to make it easier. I vote for faster, too! (L) :luv:

I've been scouting about in here and I thank you for the information provided as it seems to be quite extensive. I noticed it looks there are 4 separate sets of forms (packets) required. Can someone enlighten me as to what happens or what's expected after the initial paperwork for the I-129F and all its attendant documentation is filed, received, and assigned? It looks like the I-864 is next. After that there's the adjustment of status and later removal of restrictions from what I've read, and I know you have to get medical records and such, but what can my fiance in the Netherlands expect to have to come up with as far as paperwork goes? And what more will I need to come up with besides the I-864? Sorry if I missed it, but my head is spinning and the complexity of this system.

Thanks much,

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Any Dutch/American couples??

Hello everyone.  I check in from time to time. It's time for Sinterklaas and I wanted to see what kind of advice the Dutch folks would have for me.  My husband is Dutch.

I am not sure how you would file if you were living over in the Netherlands but you might check into direct consular filing and see if that would work - it's the fastest way.  We had to wait for what seemed like forever to me. You might just look up your consulate and send them an email.  They were very nice about answering my questions when we needed more information.

Well congratulations to all the new couples heading to the USA! I certainly hope that some day crossing international borders is as easy as crossing state lines inside the US.  Until then, just take it a step at a time.

I think it depends on where he lives and which is closest to him. I think one of my friends' fiance went there to the Haag for his interview. :) (F) Good luck with your processing. It feels like it takes forever, but the time does pass.

I think co-sponsers are fine in the Netherlands, but you can email the Consulate to be sure. They are very quick to respond.

OMG! I am glad to see that I am not the only one that this just happened too. I am devastated because the asked my fiance over seventy questions and called his family and asked them several questions and told him he was a liar and told him that was it and leave. I am so upset that I am not sure what to do. I called one of those numbers and left a message. Thank you so much for the info. I have had to be put on anxiety  medicine because of this long and very upsetting process. I feel like screaming I am so upset.

I need to mail documents to Kenya for my husband's interview.  Actually, i'm just a control freak and want to put the entire package together so that everything is super organized.  I don't want to pay $300-$400 for fedex or dhl though.  I've gotten a quote for about $100 from usps certified mail.  Has anyone had luck mailing documents via usps?  Or any other reasonable suggestion?

I'm mailing my civil documents Monday, finished the form online today.  I wonder if I should include "relationship" stuff in the mailing?  I included emails and a few tickets with my initial packet, I've never been asked for more.  The list of civil documents doesn't ask for any "relationship stuff" but maybe I should include it?  What do you think?
