Additionally, I have received good news from my fiance. I have always wanted to attend the interview with her and fly home with her, but was afraid that I would not have enough vacation time to wait for the approved visa to be shipped to her house. I only have 7 paid days left and if it took 6 or 7 days to arrive to her small city, I would be in trouble. Well, she spoke to the FedEx desk in Kiev that handles the visa deliveries for the Embassy and they told her that we can pick it up directly from their office!! When we pay for the fedEx services, we are to give them our contact phone number and a note will be placed on it. They will attempt to call us twice before going ahead with shipping. They also said it would be good if we called them, as well, to make certain it does not sneak past. So, if the Embassy takes a day or two to process it after the interview (I really have no idea how long it takes, but the Embassy site said the visas are normally delivered in 2 to 4 days), we can stay in Kiev and pick it up and then travel back to her home. This will still give us about 4 or 5 days to pack and visit friends and relatives before heading back to Kiev for the trip to the USA! I know Sveta is so much happier and relieved to know I can be with her every step of the way. biggrin.gif

This is a lovely idea isn't it? What a joy it would be for us to be able to travel "home" with our USCs at our sides. I've gone all mushy just thinking about it. I have started talking to my Dave about trying to co-ordinate his final visit with the interview... I hope it all works out for you guys. And all of us smile.gif

Thanks!! I think in our situation it is even more important with the language barrier. Sveta knows the English language but has zero confidence in it. I have a lot of confidence in her, and I know she will adapt once immersed in the language. Her daughter is still learning, so she has a ways to go. Sveta has flown only once before and it was 20 years ago. She has never flown internationally, and her daughter has never been on a plane, either. I want to be with them to reassure them throughout the entire travel period. Sveta has helped me tremendously when I am there since I am not good with Russian or Ukrainian, and it is only fair that I be her support for this major change in their lives. energy.gif

On Saturday, I received a letter from the NVC that was dated July 30th, and it states they have my approved petition (I already knew that) and gave me my new KEV case number (I also knew that), and said it would be shipped to Kiev "within one week". I plan on calling back tonight! wink.gif

Nice one, cwaf - great to see it working out so well for ya. You know, I'm actually totally not arsed about chasing my petition thru NVC/Consulate; I know now, after that looooooooooooooong 5 month wait, that it's all in hand. yes.gif

Well, since we already have all of our documentation in hand, we are very anxious to get them here as quickly as possible, so for us, even one day seems important. smile.gif I guess I am just very anxious and too impatient now. whistling.gif

I totally understand! I need to get my affidavit of support notarized and collect all of my paycheck stubs between now and the interview...then I'm all ready! I'm so excited! I also found out last week that I'll be able to attend the interview, which makes me VERY happy. I thought that I would have to miss it because I don't have enough vacation time, but my boss and HR manager made a special arrangement for me. They made it very clear that it's a one-time ONLY deal because of the situation...it's so nice to have understanding management! biggrin.gif

GREAT!! I am glad they are being flexible for you! My company also has a policy where they 'may' grant an extra week of vacation for some situaitons, such as marriage, birth, and adoption. I have already told my managers that I am planning on taking that week later this year when we get married. :-) And, since I am Team Lead on my job, I can do a lot of things working from home and not have to be onsite, so today I decided that since I will not have any vacation time left to spend with my ladies once they arrive, I will work from home for a couple of days--at least--to make sure they are able to function (like find the dishes, food, eat, etc..hahaha). I just hope I am not too distracted to do any work! innocent.gif

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 JANUARY 2012 FILERS
congrats to all the successful applicants! My wife received the NOA email last week and then the hard copy in the mail yesterday. What I found interesting is the hard copy did not mention biometrics at all, and said something like "once we review your documents and application, your interview appointment will be scheduled". Is it me or is it odd that biometrics were not mentioned? They definitely cashed my check that paid for them so it is not a big deal! If my memory serves me correctly, the other NOA notices along this immigration trail mentioned the biometric appointment would be scheduled. As another note, we have been fortunate on the previous steps and my wife has never had to go to an interview. ;-)

For those who have been interviewed for the N-400, what was the civics test like? Was it an oral or written test? If written, was it multiple guess or fill in the blank? My wife is proficient in English so that part will not be of concern for her. Last fall I downloaded the PDF from the website that had all 100 questions from which they are supposed to pull the questions for the interview. I then made an MP3 file for my wife by reading each question and then supplying the correct answer. She has it on her MP3 player now and will listen to it from time to time while working. I designed it to work along with the PDF file so one can listen to the file on the computer and read the question in the file at the same time, but it works fine alone, too. We also put it on a CD and played it on our car when we took a trip to Texas last November for a wedding and she did very well on it. Her biggest difficulty is with names of politicians. My brother's wife is from Peru and next year they will be filing the N-400 and he plans on using my file, as well.

I wish smooth sailing for all of us!

Hello again Feb-Filer-Friends,

Congratulations to Ray after all that waiting!

We sent our AOS paperwork on 22 Jan. It took longer than I'd hoped but our apartment flooded over new year so we had to move again (changing the address on all the forms I had prepared in advance - sigh). I haven't got the NOA1s yet, but I see that cwafs took nearly two weeks. The waiting is certainly less painful when you are married and living in the same house!

Good wishes to all x

Hello again, dear Scarlett!
I am sorry to hear about your flooding problem! crying.gif I hope you did not have much damage to your belongings. The last update to our case numbers was on January 30th, so that was the mailing date (I assume) since I received them on Feb 2nd. I expect you will get yours this week! star_smile.gif I have also begun posting in the January AOS files forum so you may want to join in there, as well. Of course, you do not have to join in there just because I am there! hahahaha

Take care of yourself and keep us updated!

Hello everyone. We received 6 letters from immigration yesterday: 3 each for my wife and her daughter. Each had one for the EAD, AP, and I-485. These are the initial NOA letters (I-797C), so we are in the system again! good.gif

Sveta is learning her sports, now, and is a Pacers fan (not much to cheer about yet, but we will improve) and NASCAR fan.

LOL!! Way to turn her into a hick, cwaf!! laughing.gif

laughing.gif good.gif

It looks like your ceremony was lovely cwaf! I hope your step-daughter gets used to it here...it's hard to make such a big change at that age, especially when she can't attend school or anything. I bet she'll feel better once she gets into classes of some sort and starts meeting people her own age.

:-) now now now...not just HICKS like NASCAR!! dry.gif We had a great time at the Pacers game last night, too! star_smile.gif How are things with you, Mr P?

The ceremony was short, sweet, and nice--just the way I hoped it would turn out! As for her daughter, I think she is going to be ok after a while. We just need to get her time occupied with something. blush.gif She found out yesterday that one of my sisters is going to bake a Ukrainian Christmas cookie recipe for her as a present, and she thinks that is very thoughtful. I thanked my sister for trying to make her feel more welcome. :-) and the best part is, I will get to eat some of the cookies, too! hahaha kicking.gif or, at least, I had BETTER get some!

Don't stress too much about the date. You do NOT have to file the AOS by the K-1 expiration date. You can wait a year if you want to...it just means that Sveta can not re-enter the country or get a job for a bit.

Also, you can get the vaccinations done at ANY doctor (as long as they will do them...your family doctor will probably be willing if you explain the situation). So you could have them done at your family doctor with a standard co-pay, then mail the vaccination documentation to Dr. Arnold and he will transcribe it for you.

I would really like to get the work permit and travel approval as soon as posisble, so I am still planning on submitting before Jan 12, 2009. I spoke to my family doctor and have new-patient physicals scheduled and immunizations (covered by insurance) for January 5th and 6th (one each day). After that, I will probably pay the money and contact that Dr Arnold to have them complete the I-693.

On other notes, I have applied and obtained two new credit cards, each account has Sveta on it. I will begin buiding her credit now, as well as give her more identification and credence to our marraige. Of course, I told her she cannot HAVE the cards...hahahaha whistling.gif

My stepdaughter is having a bit of a time adjusting to things here. She will be 18 in January, she cannot work at this time, she cannot attend school yet, and her English classes have not yet begun. She is bored and moody, and even spoke about returning to Ukraine to live. However, yesterday she spoke to her aunt back in Ukraine and was told how bad the economy is there now (much worse than 2 months ago) and she would not have much chance to work there now, either. The only "plus' would be she could attend school there without worrying about learning English. Perhaps that may be an option after work and travel approval has come through. She could possibly return to Ukraine for an extended visit and atten the university there. That is yet to be determined and talked about. wacko.gif Sveta has no desire to move back to Ukraine and really likes it in Indy with me. dancin5hr.gif so far, anyway! hahaha They met my large family at Thanksgiving time. I am one of 8 children, so there are a lot of people when all the family is together. They get a second dose of it on Dec 21st when my family gathers for Christmas. (My family celebrates either before or after Christmas since we have a difficult time doing it on Christmas Day.) Sveta is learning her sports, now, and is a Pacers fan (not much to cheer about yet, but we will improve) and NASCAR fan. She is struggling with football and the concepts of how it is played, but she will watch, with me, our Colts play anyway!

for anyone interested, here is a link to our wedding pictures. star_smile.gif

I hope all is well and are not suffering any anxieties of the holidays and separation from family.

hello friends! We spent our 2 hours in SSN Office Purgatory today, and was partially succesful. Sveta was able to get her SSN number, but her daughter was denied because of not having some card for employment. The immigration officer at New York stamped both of their I-94s with the employment "OK", and Sveta was allowed to get the SSN based on that because she was on a K-1 visa. however, since her daughter was K-2, the same rules did not apply. Soooooo, now I have to get a Tx ID number for her to be able to claim her on my taxes for this year. We have to wait until her status has been adjusted, or the EAD is approved, to get her SSN card. SIGH

on the medical stuffs...I read the instructions from the USCIS form for the I-693 and here is what it said:
Section III. Frequently Asked Questions
2. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and
already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:
A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e), or as a
B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3
spouse of a U.S. citizen, and
C. You received a medical examination prior to
admission, then-
a. You are not required to have another medical
examination as long as your Form I-485,
Application to Register Permanent Residence or
Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your
overseas medical examination
b. You will, however, be required to complete Part
1, Information about you, and submit the
vaccination section of Part 2 with your
adjustment of status application. A designated
civil surgeon must complete the vaccination
section and Part 5, the Civil Surgeon's
Certification.

I know this is probably not new information for those who have been looking into it, but I do not know if an I-693 was filled out and submitted by the examining doctor in Ukraine. I assume one was, but it was in a sealed package that we no longer have since Immigration kept it. We do have the X-ray, though. So, I plan on just completing the top part (section 1) of the I-693, but the REAL question is do I really go to one of the civil surgeons listed for my city, or just to my family doctor? unsure.gif I guess I can go through the list provided and see if any are in my insurance network. headbonk.gif

Unfortunately, what that all means is that you need a NEW I-693 to submit now. Some people have filed their AOS/EAD/AP without it and have been fine...some have gotten RFEs for the I-693, it seems pretty arbitrary. You can contact Dr. Arnold in Texas (the contact info is the in the pinned I-693 thread on the AOS forum) who will do the vaccination section long distance.

The other problem is that USCIS started requiring a TB skin test for all AOS petitioners as of 7/1. There was a one month grace period where they wouldn't RFE people who didn't have it, then they were absolutely required on 8/1/08. This posts a quandary for K-1 applications...we already had (or our new spouses had) X-rays done, which are more conclusive than the skin test. The skin test is cheaper and easier to do and tells you if there's been any exposure. If it comes back positive you have to get an X-ray. Since they try not to do too many X-rays, this is sensible in the long run...but it means those of us in the cross over time are kind of screwed since they haven't pushed this new requirement out to all of the embassies/foreign CSs.

well, I have been working at preparing the AOS documents. The medical one is going to be the sticking point since Sveta has a LOT of immunizations she is going to have to have since her records are terrible. She had many of them before, but Ukraine's medical records are terrible. Her daughter's are better because they have become better at records for the last 15 years, but prior to that, it is almost nonexistent. mad.gif I know I am going to spend probably upwards of 300 to 400 to get both of them current with shots, and that does not even include the costs for the civil surgeon stuff. There is only one in my area in my insurance network, and he has not returned my call yet. I will submit my AOS on time, even if the 693 is not ready to go. I would rather have it on record as being submitted and get an RFE later, than be late sending it in. The holiday times are killing me, too. Plus, all the doctors I have called in my insurance network so far (including my OWN family doctor) are not accepting new patients until sometime next year. I am having a heck of a time finding a place I can get the shots done. wacko.gif I do not think Dr Arnold can help me yet since our immunization records are so incomplete. crying.gif

Technically you'll be out of compliance until they grant the AOS...I wouldn't want to wait, but I don't think you would have any problems if you did. I've read posts from several people over on the AOS board who waited a long time after the wedding (mostly for financial reasons...$1000 right after a huge move is a lot). We sent our packet off today...hopefully we'll hear something soon!! smile.gif

yes.gif we are happy! Your picture was terrific!
I know we will technically be in volation, but since they do not move quickly on AOS (or any other kind of request) they know they cannot prosecute since it definitely takes longer than the 90 days allowed for the K-1 visa. I think as long as you have filed for it (and it would make it easier if you have the NOA1 for it), everything is fine. And tell me about the 1000.00 being so much! I have to pay it twice since her daughter is here, too! wacko.gif

I look forward to hearing your progress so we, the group, can learn from YOU! good.gif

Delighted your beach wedding was so lovely cool.gif

What is this 12 Jan deadline ? Do we have to file AOS within a certain time after the wedding?

For what it's worth I got a SS card in my maiden name already, just because it seems you can't do anything in America without it. I will of course have to change it next week (!) but it was very easy to get and I imagine just as easy to change.

Welcome back to reality tongue.gif

Is that the day that your I-94 says it expires? That is 90 days from your entry into the US...that's how long you have to get married. I think that technically, there isn't really a time limit on when you must file...but the longer you wait, the longer it takes to be able to re-enter, work, etc.

We finally made it home last night. I skipped out on Black Friday since I had no idea who to shop for or what to get! I thought sleep might be a bit more important! hahaha whistling.gif
Yes, that is the day her I-94 expires. I think the AOS has to be filed before that because the K-1 visa expires on that day, so unless the status is adjusted (or filed for), technically she will be in violation. I hope we can get everything sent off in time, so there will be no worries.

I am including a photo of us after the wedding--taken from my camera and not by the pro. star_smile.gif

Hello again, all my friends! I write this note from Miami Beach, Florida, and today is our wedding day!! We will leave this hotel in about 2 1/2 hours and drive to Key West (almost 4 hours), and the weather appears to be cooperating today for our 5:15pm ceremony on the beach! I do not want to think about the AOS until I get back and make it through this next weekend---my large-family-delayed-Thanksgiving Day celebration. The medical stuff will be interesting for us since the K-1 visa did not require any documentation for immunizations. we have a list of the ones previously received by each, and that was all the instructions indicated were necessary. Of course, they had their physicals and Xrays, but no official forms for the immunizations. innocent.gif

I send my congratulations to all the newly married, and the soon-to-be-married! I am now only 8 hours from mine! good.gif kicking.gif

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Hooooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! cwaf is getting married kicking.gif

THANKS! the weather was PERFECT! very little wind, 74F (23C for you foreigners! tongue.gif goofy.gif ), and a fabulous sunset! And, of course, my bride was gorgeous! I hope to be able to provide a wedding pic or two sometime next week, once the photographer can get them to me.

now for the tricky stuff....they said they would be mailing our marriage license to us in 3 or 4 weeks. (maybe sooner) That makes it very difficult to obtain SSN cards and get the AOS stuff in the mail before our January 12th deadline. We will get the paperwork ready, but I am wondering if we should proceed with obtaining the SSN cards now in her maiden name, and then get the corrected cards later. I hate duplicating efforts, but we may not have time, otherwise. opinions, please? (about our situation!) star_smile.gif ClockWatch2.gif

sigh...we leave the warm weather of Miami Beach in 2 hours to start the long drive back home, where it is not quite so warm. It is time for us to experience what many others have had the last week or two---reality! rofl.gif hugs to all!

Hi everyone, I can't believe how fast the time has gone since I got here! I keep meaning to get back on the forums, but find I have a life again!

Anyway, hope you are all well - especially good wishes to those still waiting.

I booked the first flight and ran for the airport as soon as I got the visa and had no problems crossing the boarder in Seattle, I even got through in time to catch my connection to Spokane.

I sucessfully got my Social Security number and wedding license this week, so all is going according to plan. So far I have not had any major reaction to the big move, although this week I am feel more normal and not so elated, so maybe it is only just staring to sink in. I do feel out of touch with England, the 8 hour difference makes it hard, but I think once the major settling in jobs and the wedding are over, I will have more time to organise some skyping etc.

It's good to hear from cwaf again. I recognise what you say about your house looking different. I spent my first day here cleaning and reorganising! You poor boys.

I am not looking forward to the AOS, that medical thing sounds boring, but then nothing would surprise me from US immigration.

All the best to everyone. x

Hello dear Scarlet! it is great to hear from you again, too. I know...I know...I know..you ladies wonder how we men even survive! blush.gif Sveta and I had a discussion like that last night when she told me I WILL reorganize the one room I told her she could not do! hahaha She and I walked around the room and I explained why things were where they are, and why I cannot move things as she expects me to. There is somehwat of a method to my madness in that room! She understood SOME of my reasoning. hahaha

I looked over the AOS stuff yesterday and was confused about the medical. The 'AOS guide' says that it is necessary, but the 'AOS tips' say it is not.
When someone knows for sure, please post it. :-) We are waiting for after the wedding before getting the Social Security numbers so we do not have to worry about name changes a second time. good.gif I know her daughter will not be too happy when her mother's SSN card has MY last name, while hers still has her biological father's name. (she does NOT want his name!) However, she will have to keep it until I can legally adopt her and allow it to be changed. wacko.gif

good wishes for everyone from Indy! innocent.gif

I am waiting until December to start ours--after the wedding. I guess I should review the stuff in advance, though. wacko.gif

It's the medical stuff that is a pain...it used to be that you didn't need to provide ANY medical paperwork as a K-1 filer if you had your DS 3025 (they should have given it to along with the medical packet, it's the form that was outside the sealed packet)...now you have to get the I-693 filled out by a civil surgeon with your immunization record (that's it). Well...finding a local one has been impossible for us! They will only fill out the I-693 if they do the entire medical...well...we're not paying another $300 for a second medical! There is a doctor in TX who will do them long distance, we're going to be sending off paperwork to the office tomorrow.

They also just added a TB skin test requirement...theoretically you now have to have the TB test first and you only need the X-ray if the skin test comes back positive. Well...K-1 people already had the X-ray, which is more conclusive than the skin test. USCIS has put out the requirement, but none of the doctors are doing it yet. I talked to several different civil surgeon's offices who all said "...huh? That's not a requirement. We won't put that on the I-693 for you." We got it done at our regular doctor and we'll just include a copy of the results with our packet.

Bleh...we're just going to file to the best of our abilities and hope it all works out fine. Dennis is going stir crazy not being allowed to work...although right now I think he's glad of it. He has a nasty cold right now. sad.gif

well, I think I need to begin looking at the forms and requirements. crying.gif

hey all. I want to give my congrats to all who have arrived in the USA. I have not been in for a while and I have been busy with my new family members. We have shared many new things, from large grocery stores to Walmart and shopping malls. ("everything is so HUGE!")
I mentioned before that we are getting married in Florida 2 days before Thanksgiving, and I was able to apply for a marriage license by mail! It has been approved and has all necessary notarizations, and I just take it with me to the presider of our wedding and they do the rest.

I hope everyone can adjust quickly to their new surroundings. My Sveta has not shed any tears for home since the first week, and she calls home every day to speak to her mother and sister. She also chats online with her sister, and my soon-to-be-stepdaughter is able to chat with her friends, and even call home and talk to them on the phone from time to time. oh...the phone calls are free, too WHEW! (Thank you MAGICJACK!!) good.gif

of course, our house looks very different inside and I have to ask, from time to time, where some of my stuff is. hahaha whistling.gif She always knows which box she put them in! Things are different in my life with them there, but I am very happy they are here! They both took English language placement tests this past Saturday and hopefully in December, they will begin classes. I am fortunate that the ESL program here is free, so they both can take their lessons without breaking me farther--financially. ;-)

everyone have a wonderful weekend!

oh..I also second the motion ( or third, or fourth) to convert this to an AOS forum so we can continue to support each other on our next step into our journey!

Congrats to Miss Yoko!

We made it home late Tuesday night. After many hours of traveling! The only "issue" we had at JFK at Immigration was the white immigration card. We were given one for Sveta and her daughter, and when we went to the agent window, the woman said we needed two white forms--one for Sveta and one for her daughter. We were instructed to go to the back of the room to a counter where the forms were and fill one out. Fortunately, it was not busy and we had no problem walking back to the counter. Sveta was halway through completing the white form when another agent approached us and asked if she could help. I explained what we were doing, and then she asked if "they are coming to live here permanently", and I replied "yes". She then said we did not need ANY white forms and told us to follow her. She took us straight to a 3rd agent---who was not busy--and stood there for a couple of minutes and just before she walked away, she announced loudly "you will be fine now. You do not need the white forms". Well, the old agent said otherwise! After a few minutes of looking over our paperwork, he asked where the second white form was. (he heard the woman say they were not needed!) and when I said that "she said we did not need it so we did not complete it yet", he replied "well, she was WRONG". wacko.gif It only took 2 minutes to complete the second form and he continued working on our papers. He finished them and referred us back to another area where we handed the packet of information to another agent. That woman was a bit more friendly and she completed it and handed us the passport back in about 5 minutes and we were done! She had stamped the little card for the temporary work permit before I asked about it. She nicely explained that I needed to take it to my local immigration office to get the permit. good.gif

We were exhausted, yet wired, when we finally made it home about 7 hours later! Being able to work from home yesterday was invaluable to us all as I was able to help acclimate the ladies to their new home. Sveta spent several hours unpacking and organizing things--and there is more to do. Apparently I do not clean as thoroughly as I should since BOTH of them--individually--said the bathroom needed cleaning. whistling.gif But, all in all, things were very smooth for the first day. In the late afternoon, we went for a long walk and stopped at the grocery store--another culture shock for Sveta. When we left the grocery, it was raining and we had to walk about a half mile in the dark and rain! blush.gif I told her that was not exactly how I envisioned our first walk together in the USA! blink.gif

Sorry for the 'book'....I hope it did not steal too much of your time!

Hello everyone! I apologize for being absent for a while, but I have been enjoying my time here in Ukraine with Sveta and her family. The interview on Monday October 6th went well, and we were able to pick up her passport from FedEx on Wednesday October 8th. The only possible problem could be that they mispelled Sveta's last name in one location in the visa. Her name was correct on her visa page, and her daughter's was correct on her page, as well. But, at the bottom of the daughter's page, they list who the parent is and they had a typo in Sveta's name there. We were concerned about it, so we took the metro system back across Kiev to the US Embassy and I asked about it there. The woman assured me it will be no problem since it is an "obvious typo" and not an "incorrect name", plus their names were correct in the other 2 main locations. We are gambling that she is correct! good.gif We leave this evening on the overnight train to Kiev, then go straight to the airport by bus. We fly into JFK and then connect to Indianapolis 3 hours later. By time we get home, we will have been traveling for approximately 33 hours, but it will be worth it! I will provide another update in another 2 or 3 days. :-)

I offer congrats to all who have made progress and wish happiness to all. I offer sympathy for Ray, though I do not know what their problem was for the interview. sad.gif

ps...I am not looking forward to the AOS and the extra expense for 2 persons, but it is an investment to our future!

I am officially a married woman! wub.gif We had a teeny, tiny ceremony at my church on Thursday with just my mom, one of my good friends, my little brother, and my father there. Then Dennis and I took off for a mini honeymoon at a little B&B a couple hours north of here. It was wonderful and it feels so good to finally be married after all of that waiting! It was worth every minute of the wait to get to where we are now. smile.gif

CONGRATS! kicking.gif mine is scheduled, but not until November 25th. It will also be a small, intimate wedding on the beach at Key West. star_smile.gif

Congratulations to everyone who had good news while I was gone! Dennis and I crossed the border at Emerson/Pembina (North Dakota). We got a guy who was doing his first K1 visa, but he was really friendly and we worked through it together. I'm glad that I had VJ because he tried to give us the original packet back! I was like "I don't think we're supposed to get that back..." he went to check with a more experienced officer then came back and told us we were right and he was supposed to keep it. smile.gif Took about an hour, then they let us through. We drove the 23-ish hours back to Salt Lake, across North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, then Utah. Not much to see in ND or MT except cows and fields! smile.gif We got home yesterday afternoon. It's so wonderful to finally have him at home. We'll get married on Thursday and then it's on to AOS/EAD/AP. biggrin.gif

Nice work! Next up, we gotta get cwaf through on the 6th!

Congrats to all! hey, I am working on it! innocent.gif I fly to Ukraine on October 3rd, the interview is on the 6th, I have the return flights booked for October 14th, and just booked the wedding for November 25th at Key West on the beach. It will be a small, private, but hopefully romantic wedding just before sunset. kicking.gif

A delightful update! Dennis and I just got back to our hotel from our interview. We were at the embassy for almost four hours..and it was worth every minute. We were called up to hand in our paperwork and the lady who took it was VERY impressed with our organization (yay VJ!), then sat back down. Then Dennis was called up for his fingerprints and we were told to sit and wait for our interview. While waiting we heard the two couples in front of us have their interviews, one had been denied for a tourist visa last year because the officers didn't believe she would come back at that time. They were finally approved after a pretty in depth interview. The other couple asked specifically when they could pick up their visa and were told that it was impossible to do them same day, because the information has to go back to Washington and they were already closed there. Both couples were called up, told to sit back down, then called up for additional interviewing

They called Dennis up (I was allowed to go with him) and spent less than five minutes with the interviewer. She asked how we'd met, what type of wedding we were planning on having, and what we each did for work. Then she said those magical five words "I'm satisfied with your relationship." She sent us over to the first window to get instructions. The lady there said that the consulate will be closed tomorrow! sad.gif Normally you can pick up your visa the next day at Vancouver...we were a bit panicking then because we have plane tickets to fly back home tomorrow night! The lady told us to sit down and she would try to print the visa right then and there for us. smile.gif We sat for another hour or so and she called us up and gave us the sealed packet and returned Dennis' passport! Apparently we REALLY impressed her, since they had just told someone else it was impossible to do, but made an exception for us! smile.gif

Thank you all for the well wishes and the support through this process, it's taken SO long, but finally we'll be heading home together! We leave Canada on Friday and are going to drive back to Salt Lake. I hope everyone who is still waiting gets their good news soon!

CONGRATS!! I am very happy for you both! kicking.gif good.gif

now for an UPDATE!!! kicking.gif Tina has received a date for her interview, October 8th!! Just got off the phone with her, she has her medical on the 25th of this month so that will be out of the way. Things are moving now.

CONGRATS! Our interview is on the 6th! I am flying out on the 3rd and just booked return flights yesterday for October 14th. I was going to wait for the visas to be in our hands before getting the flight, but when I checked yesterday, the flights I needed were going quickly. I gambled and booked the flights...now the Embassy had better not delay things! smile.gif
GOOD LUCK! good.gif

Congrats to both of you guys on the scheduling of the upcoming interviews! It's about time, huh! ?! I hope that things go well for the interviews and that the visas are promptly issued and in your fiancees' hands!

THANKS! :-)

Thanks, it's really helpful to know that this happens sometimes and it's not all going to just disappear forever lol! My biggest question is how on earth do you get through to the CSC? We have called the USCIS I don't know how many times and they say it is impossible to call the CSC....do you have a number? My fiance did call the congressman yesterday so hopefully that will get us somewhere soon too.

This whole thing just makes you want to scream doesn't it!!!!

All the best for your interview good.gif

The number I used was 1-800-375-5283. Calling today or tomorrow should will work out better. expect to be waiting for 20 minutes or so before you get someone.
