K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed co-sponsor or not ? Plz help !!

Your Link is absolutely useless for USCIS Guildlines.
And you need a better defined words from me. This is a Immigration Forum. Not if you qualify for Food Stamps.

I think you are wrong my friend. I Googled several links like the one below and they back up what he posted. It is for foods stamps, it is based on income requirements for a K1 ISA petitioner. If you don't meet them, you need a cosponosr. No cosponsor, no VISA. I witnessed it when I was at the US Embassy in Manila during my fiancees interview baxk in 2010, when some beneficiares petitioner did not meet tthe minumum requirements. THey will not let anyone become a public charge to the U.S., hence that is why there are income requirements.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDocuments for visa processing

I am about to send off a small mound of documents for our visa processing in Manila, and I have three questions, please:

1. For the Affidavit of Support (I-134), do I indeed need to submit TWO copies of all the back-up documents (such as about bank information)?

2. Her daughter is 21/2 years old (turns 3 in May). Do I need to submit a separate I-134 for her?

3. Does she need to fill out a separate DS-156 form for her daughter?

Thank you all. I am VERY appreciative of the help and support I have rec'd from this very practical group!! Posted Image

Kevin

I would send the documents that require your original signature like the I-134 by mail. All the other paperwork you can e-mail to her and she can print out. This will save you some money. You don't need two copies of your financials. One copy of each should suffice. When I did mine on my first K1, I porvided 3 years of tax transcripts, W2's, Letter of Employment verifation from employer, letter from bank and 6 of my most recent paycheck stubs. I believe it is better to give more then less. I believe at this point the only paperwork requiring your signature is the I-134. If I am wrong then others will speak up. She will need two copies of the DS-156 and DS-157. Once copy of the DS-156K. Please see the link below for the packet she should follow in prepartion for her Embassy interview in Manila. On the DS-156 question #34 there is a place for persons that will be traveling with you. maybe this is enough. VJ members who have more knwledge of this information please comment. Please have her also review the reviews of the US Embassy in Manila. Others sahre their experiences and tell you some of the questions being asked by the prescreeners and Consular Officer. Good Luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP! COMPLETE change of personality.... :(

Well said.. :star: :star: :star:

Get rid of her before it is too late and you become a victim. There are millions of women in the Philippines that probably look better than her, brought up better than her and lack the attitude. Where is she from? The women in Dumaguete City, the City of Gentle People seem to be really nice. A coworkers nephew is married to one here in the U.S. and I can tell you she is a true Filipina and takes care of her husband and loves him even though he is a jerk at times. I am engaged to her sisters best friend and I have never been happier. I was used by a FIlipina on my first K1 and she left me after 10 months here in the U.S. She was from Zamboanga City and lived in Makati City, Manila. Stay away from the really big cities or you are asking for problems. Get over her, she is not worth the heartache and you can find one who truly respects and appreicates and doesn't put on a fake face. Best to meet people that are a referral and not from a dating site if possible. Good Luck.

I know this waiting is hard, I really hope it goes fast for you. Good luck!

Middle East and North AfricaHow Much AP is Enough??
I have recently been reading that individuals from the MENA region routinely have additional AP time that must be added to the usual 5 month processing time. Can anyone share with me what to expect? Where in the process does it go to AP? What happens? For how long "typically"? Thanks.

You may want to consider calling the NVC to discuss your situation with them directly. I called them yesterday regarding our Tunisian petition and discovered they have established a special line for individuals concerned with visas for Egyptians. Good luck to you.

Middle East and North AfricaDELTA SAYS MOROCCO IS PART OF EUROPE?!!!

Is that a change? When I flew to Morocco last summer is was 2 bags for free because it was an international flight. Now since I booked the to NY portion separate they wanted to charge me for the second bag on the US leg of the flight but when I showed them my confirmation for the NY to Casa flight they didn't charge me. The same applied with the return trip with my husband.

It happened in November but may have been complicated because I flew Delta business there with 2 bags checked thru and the cattle car seats back. Also, Delta does not fly into Tunis. Have to take Air France for the Paris to Tunis portion. It may just be an AF thing. Sorry, clear as mud I know.

Middle East and North AfricaDELTA SAYS MOROCCO IS PART OF EUROPE?!!!

HELLO,

I thought this would be the right place to post this thread NORTH AFRICA AND MIDDLE EAST about flying to MOROCCO which is in North AFRICA! I will be flying Delta to JFK and Royal Air Maroc from JFK to Casa. The ticket is the same booked with Delta,so I know that my bags will be checked all the way through going to Morocco. I have heard that Delta considers Morocco as "Europe" and not Africa so the 2 free checked bags for international flights does not apply but only 1!! I looked at some travel websites discussing of this issue with Delta and actually argue about it when they check their bags in saying Morocco is in Africa not Europe and that the 2 checked bags free should apply. Anyone with a recent experience is this true? I thought I would try Visa Journey for advice since so many of you have traveled between the U.S. and Morocco multiply times AND recently.

Thanks Team.

Never been to Casa but I did throw a big American fit in the Tunisian airport over the EXACT same issue. Still, in the end, despite the POLICY in hand...and my feet on African soil...I had to pay $75 to take my bag home from the "European" airport in Tunis. :bonk:

Middle East and North AfricaSomeone told my husband I need to go with him to interview

Now I know better but one of Siaf "friends" said he has been denied 4 times and told my husband he need me to go with him to the American embassy in Tunisia for interview

I told Saif to read all of your stories but this one "friend" has him thinking I must go there again. PLEASE add comments for Saif to see that this is not needed

Sorry Saif. Listen to your wife not a "friend". There are lots of rumours and myths about this that my husband heard as well. Also, you really have no idea WHY this person may have been denied. He could have problems or trouble you don't know about it. The US Embassy in Tunisia is great. Very supportive of American requests for our Tunisian spouses. Just be prepared. I know several people who have been approved while their spouses were still in the US including my own. Its not necessary unless the Embassy requests it.
Good luck!!

I think this is getting over complicated. If he has a visa for entry to the US, the itinerary above will not be a problem as long as he does not plan to leave the airport transit zone. He will not need anything additional. Good luck!

We use Delta/ Air France thru CDG with a two hour lay over routinely and never have a problem. But yes, Tunsians do require a visa to go outside the French airports for any reason.

Tunisian dinar is a closed currency, it is not transferable to any other currency outside of Tunisia. No other country will exchange their money for Tunisian dinar. We have found no way around this other than illegal black market purchase of Euros NOT recomended!!

This would be the only correct answer so far! We agree. Not cool but they really don't care what we think really.

Middle East and North AfricaEmbassy disruptions
My husband was in the K1 process in Tunis during the initial revolution events. We had to wait until the embassy was safe and fully functional before proceeding as normal with our visa application. It was almost exactly the same announcements as well from all Arab embassies at the time. Our take was that our problem (waiting) was so minor in comparison to everyone's safety and the message behind the conflict that we never complained. You'll be ok.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmedical and interview in Tunis

hi - could those who have received their visas in Tunis please share their experiences with the medical exam and the interview?
how was the medical exam? what does it include and how long does it last?
is it done only in Tunis?
how much does it cost?

how about the interview?
what questions were asked?
what documents did you take with you to the interview? what did they look at?

Anything you can share would be greatly appreciated.
My wife is in Djerba and I would hate for her to make the trip twice to Tunis for the medical and the visa interview.

Thanks!

She will not be able to take the medical exam until she has an appointment letter for the scheduled interview but it could all be done within the same week. It must be completed by a female MD in Tunis who has a direct contract with the embassy.

Interview went very well. Everyone at the embassy is extremely kind and helpful. They will answer questions via email in advance if you have specific questionss. It's not as difficult as other MENA embassies report at all. Good luck & let us know if we can help. -Jenifer

thank you so much for your help! :) we have documents translated in arabic/english/french, we were concerned we should have used one of the embassy's translators, like we had to choose from list like medical doctor. and thank you we will go ahead with round trip ticket :)

If you ask the airline, they may give you a credit on the un-used return ticket good for a year. I know Delta does.

thx friends for both comment

plz i have another question

1.45 connecion time in atlanta airport

I would allow for at least 3-4 hours in case your plane is late and/or many international flights land at the same time. Less than two hours is unnecessary stress.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2hourand 30 minute in atlanta airport ?

All i know about atlanta is that i hear the employees arent that great or knowledgable. Also if you fly Delta its known forit's delays and having flights (right before take off) wait on Tarmac for plane to be checked for something or other (but it's better checked then then finding out about the prob in the air). That's what to to us on domestic flight in Atlanta on delta. We missed our connecting flight.

I think you asked this question already this week and everyone gave you the same answers? Never the less, Paris is also a VERY confusing & busy transfer and I speak fluent French. It requires you go thru a second security check/ shuttle/ etc. So, give yourself at least two hours there and two to three in Atlanta at minimum. I've flown this route many times and its the same every time...plus I'm a USC and it goes quicker for me. (Except when I'm bringing my gallons of olive oil!!) Good luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQ's Regarding I-129F Packet
While I am not among the "approved" crowd yet, here is a link to a website that contains a nice video about how to professionally prepare your submission. I found it helpful in preparing ours. The balance between actually getting the package out the door and obsessively double checking everything was a difficult one for me!! Anyways, heres the link: http://fianceek1visa.blogspot.com/ As for pictures, I just printed mine out in sheets from digital images and I put all the documents in clear plastic sleeves.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQ's Regarding I-129F Packet

Hello everyone, I just had a few questions regarding the I-129F packet. I am in the process of putting it together as we speak, and I just wanted to get some information from anyone that could help.

1. Could someone who was approved of their I-129F please post a picture of how you put the packet together. I purchased some self-adhesive tabs today and am curious wether I should place them directly on the corresponding page or maybe on a blank page before it, like a divider.

2. For the submission of photos as evidence of having met within the past two years and also for an ongoing relationship, how should I place the photos in the packet. I read that some people placed them in plastic bags and stapled them to a paper titled accordingly. (Doesn't seem so professional)

3. Extra documentation will not affect the decision of approval, will it? For example, it doesn't ask for things such as the beneficiaries passport or birth ceritifcate, but I want to provide them as to be thorough. (All her documentation has been notorized and translated)

4. In regards to Part C, Question 2... Anything that I have been charged with has been expunged, when I went to the courthouse to retrieve that record, they basically gave me a blank piece of paper. Nothing shows on my criminal record, but it states that even if the charges have been sealed or otherwise cleared I still need to provide documentation. Someone that has experienced this situation... please tell me that you were approved.

5. For Form G-325A, it took me a long time to find what I like to do in life, is my bad employment history going to affect my application negatively?

I would like to thank everyone in advance. I really appreciate your input. It would be very nice if someone who has gone through these same situation and that were approved could post, but ofcourse I would like help from anyone and everyone. So far I have used this site to help me gather most of the information that I needed. I think it is going pretty good so far. I am currently waiting to receive mail from my fiance with her supporting documentation. I am planning on having this packet submitted as of the end of next week. I will post some pics here shortly on how I assembled my packet. Thank you again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSimple Dumb Question
I have recently received a letter indicating that my K 1 petition has been received by the NVC and a case number assigned. As for the next step, how will I be notified that my packet has been shipped to our Embassy or will I even know when this occurs? I tried to phone the NVC number but the automated system does not work for K visas from what I could discern. Didn't want to bother an operator and/ or wait 10 minutes to talk to them. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. :D

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences in which their petition information was supposedly sent from NVC and several weeks later the embassy reports never having received it? If so, is there a way to track/ find it in their processing systems? Ours was sent two weeks ago from NVC but has not been received by the Tunisian embassy. Of course, Tunisia is in a state of civil unrest and we would expect delays of some magnitude. I just want to know where my confidential and personally important information is. I contacted the embassy today and NVC is closed due to weather issues. No answers so far. I do not have a tracking number for DHL. Any recommendations, up to and including a compassionate "just chill and be patient it will show up", would be appreciated. Thanks!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Application Questions

Yep, I remember how you felt. First of all, relax and do not rush. Take the time to read the guides and links here
http://www.visajourn...uides-and-info/
There is great information all throughout. Take the time to go through everything as it will save you a lot of time later if you make a simple mistake. After you go through that and become more familiar, your questions will hopefully dwindle. Carefully scrutinize answers from people who just "think" versus there are some senior members that have been around awhile and back up their answers with links and facts. I have seen some truly bad information. Remember, ultimately you are the one responsible for the application.
Read read read read read..... the posts here are super helpful and most of the time you will discover some great hints as well as answers to many of your questions.... even some you may not know you have now... GOOD LUCK
John

I intentionally put "THINK" to flag that I wasnt 100%. I also KNOW mine was approved as I stated. I really don't understand why people are so nasty on this site when "people" just try to help others. Have a great night. (L)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Application Questions

I am applying for a K1 visa for my beautiful fiancee to be with me here in the states and we have a few questions about the process.
1) Is it advisable to print the forms on resume paper? I dont think it's necessary.
2) Is there a particular order we should put the paperwork in? I put all of my demographic info first, travel stuff, photos, and chat logs. I don't know a particular order is required.
3) Should we punch holes in all the papers and send it in a 3 ring binder? I put mine in plastic sheets in a three ring binder.
4) Should we print all the papers on one side only (not double sided)? I double sided just to save space.
5) Are the letter of admission and letter of intent the same thing? Not sure about "admission" but I put my intent towards the beginning of our packet
6) Do we need a certificate of no marriage? I don't "THINK" you need it until your interview.
7) Should we number each page and create a table of contents using those numbers? I did. It allowed me to easily compulsively check that I had everything.
8) Should we label all of our pictures with what we were doing at the time? I just put the city and month. Lots of detail probably not necessary.
9) Should we get the I129F and G325A form notarized? Its not necessary. Beneficiary will sign documents in front of embassy staff.
10) We know our relationship is genuine but how do we prove to the consul that it is genuine. What can we include to convince the consul beyond
doubt that we are bona fide. Thats variable per the unique embassies; may be worth some more investigating.
11) Should we include copies of our ID's? I sent copies of both of our passports.

I also had no RFE's and we were approved without AP. So, I guess it worked!! You're detailed. You will be fine!!!

I know this is a lot of questions and some are probably irrelevant but we are both very anxious about this application and want to do it right.

We thank you for all the help you can provide.

Paul and Haidee.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTimeline Question

Hi Kimberly,

That's probably the time that you'll get your NOA2 and your case will be sent to the embassy in Tunisia. After that depending on the embassy there, your fiance will get contacted to put together his application and paperwork and then go for the interview.

A word of advice: don't hold your breath. My fiance is in Lebanon, another Arab/Middle Eastern country and he also has a Muslim name. Everything went smoothly including his interview, and then we were shocked and thrown into the hell that is "additional administrative processing". If you search for it on these forums, you'll find that this is very common for people from Arab/Muslim countries, especially for fiance's who are MEN (not women) and who have Muslim names, like your fiance and mine.

We've been in admin processing for 3 months now.. and counting. No one can give us any information. I've had my congressman inquire into it, but still no budging. I call the State Department weekly and email the embassy bi-weekly.

Just so you know, the consensus seems to be that the vast majority of people get approved after admin processing.. but it can take months .. maybe even a year. :(

Good luck, but just wanted to give you a heads up. I had no idea and planned my life around him coming here right after his interview. Silly me.

Just as a follow up to what was shared here, Tunisia is probably among the most liberal of all Arab nations with not requiring the additional AP. Both my husband and my friend fiancee both breezed thru their interviews even during the revolution. The embassy staff there are actually WONDERFUL about helping Americans and their Tunisian family get thru the visa process. I would not worry as much as other MENA members unfortunately must.

Thanks fot the information. My fiance just told me that he will get a new police certificate in mid December. He will have both orginals and the translated copies. Yes we have pictures and msn chats, emails, text bills. We have a lot that I already sent in and more for him to bring to the interview,

You will need a certified translation. A friend or family member just "saying" what it says will not be sufficient unless they are otherwise allowed to do so for government purposes. Its quick, easy, and cheap but you will need it.
